@Pea-n-Me So sorry your DS has to have that happen. I hope he is recovering well and everything is fine. Hospital personnel do take alot of verbal and many times physical abuse. It is really terrible. I like the story of the floor tiles.

The grandkids and DDIL are doing better after the amoxicillin started. So happy. At least maybe they can salvage some of school vacation.

I did take a slow walk today and it is so cold and windy out there. I had on my winter coat and the wind just went right through it. I think I am done for today and will just take it easy.

Tomorrow I leave very early to go to the office before traffic picks up. Then after work I will pick up the rest of my stuff at the condo. I will call my agent to set up a key dropoff time and place on Saturday. The buyer's agent is in the next town so I hope she will come by and get the keys.

I called the Budget Blinds place and as I thought, not so budget. They will only come to your home, no showroom, and look at your decor. I have no decor. I have comfortable. I am not looking for a decorator or anything else. I suspect I will be ordering online for the kids to put up. Kenny already said it was not too hard to do. When we can get into the new condo to measure the windows there, then we can order online.

Have a good rest of the day.

Happy Thursday!:sunny:

Went to Evan's soccer game and got some Mia time. I love that she's cooing and smiling now, it makes me laugh every time.

My friend's son and his wife just had their first baby the other day, which is her first grandbaby. I'll have to stop next weekend and grab them a gift. They are big Star Wars fans so they named him Lukas and will be calling him Luke.:darth:

Carly's leg has been bothering her all week, she's been hoping around on 3 legs 😕. I'm going to give her through the weekend to see if it gets better before I call the vet. Every so often she'll put it down to walk but only a few steps. Her back legs always bother her with the arthritis, I'm hoping it's just a flair up.🤞

Getting my haircut tonight, I always look forward to my hair appointments. Probably going to get about 2 inches cut off.

Been very busy at work the past couple of weeks, guess I better get started on the day. Have a great day!

Good morning. Going to be sunny and near 90 today, and rain and storms tomorrow, high near 90. That will be lovely for humidity.

Did grocery shopping yesterday with my SIL and niece, and all they did was bicker the entire time, from the minute they got here. About the smallest things like how many loads of laundry niece had done. They were still at it when they dropped me off, I was glad to get home. It was no wonder I had a headache.

Summer had her appt at the spinal institute yesterday, and despite all her concerns and complaints, all the 'specialist' kept telling her was you need physical therapy. He gave her a 4 month follow up appt and she says she's never going back to him. He didn't pay attention to anything she was saying. Apparently the rest of her doctors think this all might not be rheumatoid arthritis related as they first thought, but that something else is going on. They were hoping the institute would provide her with more answers. She said he did show her the latest scans, and she has bone spurs up and down her spine, they originally told her there was only 1. She gets her orthopedic shoes today, so hopefully that will give her some relief in walking at the very least.

I ran the string trimmer over the lower bank last night after it had cooled down, so I don't have to go outside, except to enjoy the weather.

Have a nice day.

I know from past experiences that when there is a “bone” problem, they often do recommend PT in order to build up muscles around the bone, which helps support it. Perhaps this was the intention behind that recommendation, Lynn.

Quiet day today, then have a shift coming up. Hit the hay early again last night.

I hope everyone enjoys their Thursday. 🐥 DS just brought me home my lunch!

A :sunny:Good Morning everyone from LA,

It is a little warmer this morning and I am so looking forward to a couple 80-degree days tomorrow and Saturday:cheer2:
Dad is out right now doing morning shopping at Target and Sprouts. He's going to use our $10 off $30 in store only Target Circle Offer. Reminder to each of you to see whether you have that on your offers. Also, with my birthday coming up, reminder to be sure that your birthday is added onto your Target Circle account so that you will get (I think it starts the day before your birthday) an extra 5% off either online or in store for at least a week. Every 🪙 all of you know sure counts!

God Bless Baby Luke, Footballmouse:hug:. I also like that name but for the Gospel of Luke that has my favorite account of Christ's coming into our human world. ⚽cheers always for Evan and you know how grateful to God I am anytime you have extra Mia time! Enjoy getting your 💇‍♀️for me, too! I am still keeping feeling comfortable doing that in prayer. Aw poor Carly :dogdance:I truly pray she feels better soon. So hard to see our furry friends in pain :(

:grouphug:Lynn, that was certainly not the outing with companions I had in mind for dear you, I'm sorry, my friend. How not fun at all! :( Continuing 🙏for Summer indeed. Grandma used to wear both Easy Spirit and SAS (I think they were called) shoes which she found helped her feet. Grandpa at one time anyway had special orthopedic shoes. Please do enjoy your weather today and watch something fun on TV, too!

God Bless your Son, Pea! Enjoy your lunch and quiet day too, my friend:hug:

Quiet thread so far today. Prayers all of our Quacker family are well and enjoying some sunshine of their own today, too. Love to all and I will check back later.

Just came in from "walking" the cats. It's still objectively chilly here, but feels warmer in the sun.

Had a good birding class this morning - last one over Zoom, and then we have one field class coming up.

Before that, I had to make a quick run to Home Depot, so I stopped and got breakfast on the way home - a waffle with lots of strawberries for me and an omelet for DH.

Which leads me to a QOTD - I felt a little guilty about the plastic take-out containers. Do any of you have places you go that let you bring your own? Do you think restaurants should start doing that?

Good afternoon. I was in the office today and then went to the condo to clean it out. I officially have nothing left in the condo. I emailed my real estate agent to arrange for the key handover on Saturday. I met one woman on my floor and she said, I thought you had already moved out. I never see anyone but when I have a wagon full of stuff I meet someone.

Kenny's kids have strep too. So out of the 10 of us, 8 are on amoxicillin. I want to know who our typhoid Mary is in the family. Jeff and Kenny escaped so far. I do feel better today. My neck does not hurt and I am not as tired.

I am going to take my only walk of the day today. I have been hauling stuff from my condo to my car and from my car to all over Kenny's house. I got plenty of exercise doing that. Tonight Kenny has the kids for supper and I believe it is Five guys tonight.

Have a good rest of the day.

QOTD: @PollyannaMom I can appreciate the desire to recycle. I try to whenever I can, too. But, as someone who’s married to someone in the food business, and with my knowledge of microbiology myself (as well as experience with a food-borne illness), I’d say that no, it won’t be something we’ll see, because anything that goes into a food place for food has to be, well, germ free. I realize that containers are at the “end” part of the meal, but say germs were somehow inadvertently introduced to the table, or the utensils, and it somehow spread to the inside of the restaurant, that could shut them down. My DH regularly has to take food samples to a laboratory to test them for germs before they’re sent out to customers. He is DPH and FDA inspected regularly, and because they sell in Europe and elsewhere around the world, there are other strict inspections they have to pass. It’s unbelievable, but necessary, and owners know it. For years DH’s company was renting out a small shared space to another food business because they had extra room. New owners came in a shut that down right away as they didn’t want ANY chance of cross-contamination, even though they’d been fine for years. One outbreak in the news to a company and it can cost a business tremendously. I hope that makes you feel less guilty getting a nice, new take out container every time! :lmao: Some places use the cardboard/recyclable containers and I find the whole thing gets soggy and messy after a day or two. I love leftovers.

Great question! No, I'm not aware of any restaurant doing anything like that. I'm pretty sure there would be some board of health issues to overcome. It would be excellent if it was made feasible but I have no idea how they would do it.

I'm all for packaging reduction. It's amazing the amount of packaging that just two people can accumulate.
I try very hard to recycle all of it.

What I would like to see is that every package is made to be recycled. In addition to that - all food packaging should be safe from chemicals that are harmful to humans.

The least we can do is reject the offered plasticware (forks, knives spoons and plastic straws) in to go orders that are going to your home.

So glad you’re all on the mend! Remember to change out toothbrushes, towels, and sterilize sink areas and handles!

Hello everyone, thanks for the concern.
I’ve been struggling quite a bit, lots of panic and tears. I’m trying to remember that it has only been 4 months today, and I’m naturally grieving. But, on the other hand, I just want to feel better and be further along in the process.

This weekend, the family came for our rescheduled Easter. As seems the norm lately things did not go as planned. They pulled in when I realized Tucker ( our dog) had eaten about 6oz of chocolate, which is quite a bit for an 18 pound dog. So I gave him Hydrogen Peroxide so he would vomit. He didn’t and was so anxious outside so I brought him in. I called the emergency vet and talked with the tech. As we were talking, he threw up all over the couch… yuck, chocolate vomit🤢. So off to the ER we go, spent 3 hours there and they decided Tucker should stay. I said I would call at 8pm to see how he was and possibly pick him up to save some money, the estimate was 1700.00. We picked him up at 10pm with meds and diet instruction. Ended up costing 900.00. He seems fine now.

I have been reading along daily, I just don’t have the energy to respond often, please know I keep you all in my thoughts. I also feel like I don’t want to burden you with my issues.

@dazedx3 So sorry about your dog. You did the right thing in taking him to the vet. You have to remember it has only been 4 months and your grief is still new. Everyone grieves in their own time and their own way. I find everyone here is so kind and caring so it is a good place to let us know how you are feeling when you need to vent or just say you are having a tough time. I am 18 months out and I can tell you that I don't feel all that far along. Some days are hard to get through and I just have to try to get through them. What else can I do? Family can help as well as friends but only you know how you really feel. People tell me I am doing so well. But, I am presenting a face to them that I don't really feel. Inside I am crying and grieving. When I get home I just cry. I figure no one really wants to think that I am still missing Chris and they want me to be happy and over it. Not going to happen in this lifetime. It may soften or become more part of life but I will never stop grieving and missing Chris. I have found out that until you go through this kind of loss, you have no idea of the magnitude of the loss and grief. But, as I said, everyone here is so kind and caring and really want you to know they are thinking of you and praying for you. Sorry to be so wordy. Today is one of the really tough days. :grouphug:

Slipping thread page 2 save with late night love and sweet dreams from me. Spectrum was down for most of this afternoon which is why I never came back.

🐥❤️🙏💯+++++ extra to Snowysom (I, of course, liked your last post for your loving words to Dazed) and Dazed. I truly admire you both🌺🕊️As a p.s. Please remember that how you feel is courage and never let anyone suggest they know what you're going through or a ton worse and IMO while perhaps not itended, from my own experiences, how it sat with me, that someone else is going through more or that you should move on. I am humbled and blessed to I pray offer you both genuine and kind, faithful support as is the rest of your Quacker family.

Sweet dreams everyone.

@flyingdumbo127 You are kind and caring as is everyone here on this thread. It is nice to have found a wonderful, supportive community here. I do want to add to my post above that my friend who lost her DH almost 7 years ago and my friend's sister who lost her DH 5 years ago have both found peace and their hearts feel a bit better. They still have their moments of grief but they find that they can remember their DH's with love, good memories, and smiles.

Good morning. It is another chilly morning here, 43 degrees. It is supposed to get into the 60s. It has been so windy here lately. Yesterday was not bad but it looks like today is supposed to be windy again. The 60s will feel more like the low 50s.

After work I have to take the Verizon equipment from the condo to UPS to they can ship it back to Verizon. It is nice that they make it easy. I am sorry to leave Fios as I really liked it but my new condo complex has a contract with Spectrum. They have negotiated a discount rate for the condo owners and you can add on extras. The town I am moving to is very small, 3000 people or so. Not alot of choice.

Have a good day.

Feel free to share anytime. I don't feel any burden in listening to your thoughts.

I'm off to my garden this morning as it says rain tomorrow.

During my ride with the girls last weekend I picked up what I thought were 2 tomato plants but one package had 4 smaller plants in it and I didn't actually notice as I was trying to keep up with the girls.

I also want to go by our nearby nursery and see if they have the 'flavor bombs' style of cherry tomatos which pop when you eat them. They are really delicious with balsamic vinegar.

We're glad to hear from you. We certainly respect when you don't feel up to posting yourself, but please don't hold back for fear of burdening us. - Everyone will read/respond to just what they have "bandwidth" for at the time, so you don't have to protect anyone when you need to get your feelings out. :grouphug:

And I'm so sorry about the scare with your dog! They really do get into things at the worst possible times, don't they?

Happy Friday!☔

dazed - sorry about Tucker and the chocolate. Hopefully he is on the mend and learned his lesson.

It's been so nice outside the past couple of days, in the 80's. Today the temp drops and rain supposed to start at 9:00 am for the day.

Caught up on my recorded shows last night. Nothing much else to talk about. Looks like my water is ready for my tea so off to get that. Have a great day!

Good morning. Sunny and near 90 today, storms and 66 tomorrow. Temps only in 60's and 70's all of next week, at least that's the forecast for now. At least I get to put off more yardwork for a couple of days. I would rather work when it's cooler out there anyhow. I'm sure the lawn will need it again by Sunday. I did get the floors and rugs all washed yesterday.

QOTD I have never seen a restaurant that lets you bring your own containers. I would think it would be too risky for germs.

@dazedx3 Please don't ever think you are burdening us. It's what we are here for, to listen. :grouphug:'s to you--Sorry about Tucker, hope he's doing a lot better.

@Snowysmom What you said to Dazed was beautiful. You have come such a long way, and every day brings you one day closer to the days when it's not quite so hard.

@Judique I haven't even seen any tomato plants around here yet. I checked Walmart Wednesday and they hardly had any gardening plants out yet. Will have to check the next time I go by Lowes. We have a 'flower' place here that's run out of an old gas station that will have a ton of different varieties for sale, but none so far. I used to always start mine from seed, but after the experience I had last year with none of them growing, it's not worth my time and trouble anymore. I should go out and plant the lettuce but I have to till again first. I have to get them in while it's still cool enough for them to grow. Maybe that will be one of Monday's chores.

Have a lovely Friday everyone
