Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. Sunny and near 90 today, storms and 66 tomorrow. Temps only in 60's and 70's all of next week, at least that's the forecast for now. At least I get to put off more yardwork for a couple of days. I would rather work when it's cooler out there anyhow. I'm sure the lawn will need it again by Sunday. I did get the floors and rugs all washed yesterday.

QOTD I have never seen a restaurant that lets you bring your own containers. I would think it would be too risky for germs.

@dazedx3 Please don't ever think you are burdening us. It's what we are here for, to listen. :grouphug:'s to you--Sorry about Tucker, hope he's doing a lot better.

@Snowysmom What you said to Dazed was beautiful. You have come such a long way, and every day brings you one day closer to the days when it's not quite so hard.

@Judique I haven't even seen any tomato plants around here yet. I checked Walmart Wednesday and they hardly had any gardening plants out yet. Will have to check the next time I go by Lowes. We have a 'flower' place here that's run out of an old gas station that will have a ton of different varieties for sale, but none so far. I used to always start mine from seed, but after the experience I had last year with none of them growing, it's not worth my time and trouble anymore. I should go out and plant the lettuce but I have to till again first. I have to get them in while it's still cool enough for them to grow. Maybe that will be one of Monday's chores.

Have a lovely Friday everyone

I found them down by Pax River at the seasonal farmers market. Most of the veggie booths were herbs and zucchini and tomatoes.

The rest was random, soaps, jewelry, hard cider, lip balm, farm eggs, plus other stuff I can't remember. Oh and I bought a Bluebird house.

I think we warm up a tad faster than your area. Lowes and Home Depot are loaded with stuff for several weeks now.

Good morning fellow Quackers.

I just wanted to "stop" in for a hello and let everyone know that FH and I came to an agreement and did not have to go to court!! Hallelujah! Things were officially over earlier this week. It has been rough. While I am thankful the legal stuff is done, I still have a ways to go emotionally.

Our agreement is not perfect, as nothing is in these situations, but I do feel it worked out the best it could without having to risk it in court. The kids are doing ok for the most part, and that is the most important thing. We all still have some adjusting to do and things will still be a bit difficult to navigate through summer...just adjusting to the schedule and such. The big thing I wanted for the schedule worked out in my favor, so I am very thankful and happy about that.

I have been reading the thread some and am sending big hugs and prayers to all who need them.

Good Morning Friends from 🌞LA,

How thankful to God dad and I absolutely are for the warmer weather. It was 80 here yesterday and today is supposed to be even warmer. Tomorrow looks to be nicer, too. Such an extra blessing to not be cold. Dad is washing his bedding 🛌to right now to put on a lighter blanket. We will do my bed next week. Dad and I were talking more last night about the blessing it is that things do seem to finally be getting better. I appreciate his understanding that I might feel more comfortable first going to JC Penney🛍️as opposed to getting my 💇‍♀️With shopping, as I shared yesterday, it seems to me that would be safer because no one would be right behind me. I don't think catching Covid just from walking inside and sticking to ourselves is as likely either. What do all of you think? I realize, of course, there's no way to know. Just makes logical sense to dad and I.

When we were ready to check out, I would go sit in the 🚗 or wait outside while dad went through the line. Likewise with any fitting room, I would ask him to be sure the area was clear before I would go inside. I could also call beforehand to ask about restrooms so we would know options ahead of time for that as well. I did call Jc Penney Rewards a little while ago to check on my store rewards account, which of course, I haven't used since 2019. I realized there was a place to add my birthdate which did to my online account. I called to verify it was showing up and also find out what the birthday reward would be. The representative told me he couldn't yet see on his end anything because it's not yet May. He shared that come May, the birthday reward, as far as he knows, would be $15! Do any of you have a JC Penney rewards account to confirm this and also when in during your birthday month it is sent? Honestly whether I do feel comfortable actually going in May doesn't matter to me as much as simply being able to take this first step. As a FYI, I am pretty sure, Kohl's store rewards used to give you a $5 birthday reward. All a joy to even think about.

:hug:Snowysmom and thank you for your kind words. It's a blessing for me to I pray be of support to you and the rest of our Quacker family as well. I sincerely am so blessed God made and has grown us as a family to care for one another. Yikes to 43 degrees! That is WAY too cold for me. Please stay bundled and warm! I like that your new town is smaller in that it might be quicker able to give you a sense of community and new friends, most of all 🕊️You know all of those things, dear friend, are in my heart and prayers for you!

Judique, dad would enjoy all your🍅planting and foods. I hope you are able to get what you want and maybe while you're at the nursery get some new 🌸seeds, too.

:hug:PollyannaMom and thank you for your kind words to Dazed. 🙏you have a good weekend!

Footballmouse, enjoy the :sunny:Many prayers also that you are feeling better!

Lynn, as always, much 🐥love to you, as well. Thank you as well for your kind words to Dazed and Snowysmom.

Praise, praise extra to God, dear Frog! Your post absolutely brightened my morning so very much. Thank you for sharing with us and letting us celebrate:cheer2: such a positive moving forward step with you. Continuing prayers all-around especially that your spirit and that of your precious children are more at peace and that indeed all of you have a HAPPY Summer:grouphug:

Happy Friday with love to all of you🌼

I just wanted to "stop" in for a hello and let everyone know that FH and I came to an agreement and did not have to go to court!!
So nice to see you on here, and congrats on getting that worry behind you! Best wishes for everyone to get happily settled into the new routine.

I think it's all about baby steps, and whatever feels like the best first outing for you is what you should do! I can tell it's been hard for you to think about going out again, and I'm proud of you for picking something to try!

Good afternoon everyone :)

Lynn, I love your 🧸:hug:for Dazed, so cute!

Thank you both PollyannaMom and Snowysmom for your encouragement. I absolutely am keeping this in prayer, and it felt great to simply add my birthday to my reward account let alone call to verify how that would work. As I said this morning, whether I am able to go or not wasn't as important to me as taking that first step. Of course, how I would love to be able to use the reward. It does look like JCPenney may offer free shipping as a birthday reward so that could be an option, as well. Positive all-around to think about.

All is quiet otherwise here. Have a good rest of the afternoon, friends.

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing well. I've gone back just two pages, so if I missed anyone, I'm sorry.

I've been in SW FL this week, and will be here until my plane takes off Monday morning at 6AM. It is beautiful here. We are getting a rain at the moment, it's been raining a good 20+ minutes so that means I don't have to water the bushes and new plantings outside tomorrow! I've been indulging in some reading and sitting in the sun these past few days, interspersed with a bit of shopping and a dining out a time or two. I actually tossed around the idea of staying an extra day or two but can't make the plane schedule & the work schedule jive. Next time! I might be down in June so there is always a next time w/ us....
Speaking of next time, I wasn't really feeling it but my husband was feeling nostalgic for the Disney trips of old and wanted to take the kids as adults, and their wives for one last trip before puppies & dogs & kids and jobs start to occupy their lives for the next 20 years. I did not much think the kids were going to go for it because to be brutally honest - our kids were always a bit bored by Disney and didn't much care for it. We have gone without them more than with them - but to our surprise they were up for it. So we just rented points for next January. Wanted Boardwalk or Beach Club due to proximity to Epcot, but was unavailable so we went with OKW so kids could walk to the Springs in the evenings. Taking 6 adults to WDW is a bit of a expenditure, so we told them it was their Christmas Gift:thumbsup2 So my Christmas shopping is done!

The grandkids and DDIL are doing better after the amoxicillin started. So happy. At least maybe they can salvage some of school vacation.
Oh that's good they are feeling better, kids have a way of bouncing back! Adults, it takes us an extra day or two!
Summer had her appt at the spinal institute yesterday, and despite all her concerns and complaints, all the 'specialist' kept telling her was you need physical therapy.
My husband had some spinal issues, resulting in surgery - and PT was one of the things they had him try prior to and after to strengthen his core and the muscles surrounding his spine. Maybe that is where the Dr. was coming from? I think if someone isn't particularly active they also will suggest it.
I know from past experiences that when there is a “bone” problem, they often do recommend PT in order to build up muscles around the bone, which helps support it. Perhaps this was the intention behind that recommendation, Lynn.

Which leads me to a QOTD - I felt a little guilty about the plastic take-out containers. Do any of you have places you go that let you bring your own? Do you think restaurants should start doing that?
I never thought about it, but I think I'd forget the take out containers! I know i forget my grocery bags!!!
I’ve been struggling quite a bit, lots of panic and tears. I’m trying to remember that it has only been 4 months today, and I’m naturally grieving. But, on the other hand, I just want to feel better and be further along in the process.
I can't begin to understand and I don't even want to presume, but I think I can understand what you mean about being further along in the process. I'm sorry there isn't more that we can do for you, but please don't hesitate to unburden yourself here if that brings you even the smallest bit of comfort.

Oh I'm so glad you go that out of the way! My thoughts continue to go out to you & your kids. Hope you all are doing well.

hey! That's great, any first step is a big step - good for you for getting up a pathway to getting back out there your own way!

So we aren't doing a garden this year - although I'm doing a few pots w/ tomatoes in them. I haven't started that endeavor either...usually just buy plants from our local nursery already started. We will miss having our garden BUT we have just a metric **** - ton of stuff to do this summer and we aren't going to add gardening to our list of chores when fresh veggies are so plentiful at farm stands and markets around us. Next summer, we'll see. Just found out eldest son is getting married late next summer and having his reception at the farm as well. Which is just fine by us - but keeps us busy with landscaping chores so that a garden becomes more of a chore than a enjoyable pastime. 2025!

:hug:and thank you, Easyas so much. Prayers for safe travels✈️ and I'm so glad you may get to return to FL in June. What lovely family gift you and your husband are giving to your kids and their families::MickeyMoAlso, a fun way to start 2024! Many 🙏for a safe and truly happy and memorable trip for all of you next year, my friend. When something that is supposed to be fun and relaxing becomes a chore, it's indeed time to step back and perhaps take a break. If you did want new flowers this year, you could always look at the big planters and plant some seeds in it to later replant in your yard if you wanted to just get some putted flowers, even easier :)

Sweet dreams everyone:grouphug:

EasyAs Your family trip sounds like a great one. It will be so nice to go together. You can still do family trips when grandkids arrive. Chris and I went with Jeff, Aimee, and Ellie when Ellie was 11 months old. She had a great time and we loved seeing how excited she was. She danced along with the music in Small World and whenever she heard music. She loved the characters. Last Oct my sons and I took the 5 older grandkids and had a nice time. Enjoy this trip with the grown kids. Safe travels back Monday.

@flyingdumbo127 I like your plan with JC Penney. Once you decide to go some place, it will make it easier and easier each time. You know you will have guidance and help with your decision.

@dazedx3 Thinking of you.

It is a gray morning here, around 46 degrees. I will be heading to the hair dresser then dropping keys off at the condo. I am a bit ticked because I have been looking for an Amazon package that I had delivered to the condo. Someone took it last week as it said delivered and I could not find it at the condo delivery area. I called Amazon, reordered, and got a credit. I just got an email from the office, one week later, saying someone had my package and brought it to the office. I need to come by on a weekday to pick it up. Why did this person think they could just take my package and keep it for a week before turning it in? If they had taken it and brought it to the office last Monday I could have picked it up this past Thursday. Now I have to make a separate trip when I am in the area this Thursday. That was one of my issues with the old condo. People made your business their business. Oh well, done with this adventure.

Have a good day.

Good cloudy morning. Calling for showers, temps mid 60's. I'll take the break in the heat.

Don decided last night he might like the blue roof. I hadn't heard from Dave so I didn't know if he had already ordered the charcoal gray. I called and he said he had almost ordered it yesterday morning, but something told him to check with me first. Then he got busy and never called. He's going to bring his camera this morning with pictures of both blues, green, red, and charcoal so we can see what they look like on actual roofs. I knew this was going to happen. I think maybe it's because I mentioned the other day that Don never goes outside and looks at the roof anyhow, that I'm the only outside 99 1/2% of the time. It's probably going to be the last roof we ever buy at our age, so I would like something that looks nice. We'll see. I told him a final decision needs to be made before Dave leaves here today with the check for the materials.

I need to strip the bed and wash the sheets and do one load of laundry, then I don't know what else I'll get into

@easyas123 Glad you got a break and some R&R. You deserve it. I hope your weekend is great and the weather improves for you.

Have a great Saturday

We could have saved 2 weeks of discussions, if he had listened to me in the first place when I picked the roof color. It's going to be the lighter of the 2 blues, kind of like a light slate blue. Going to be ordered Monday morning. We even tried rock, paper, scissors and flipping a coin, between the blue and the charcoal, and it still came up on my choice every time, lol.

Good Morning :wave::grouphug:

Quiet and cooler Saturday morning here, still warm inside our apartment. I'm wearing my first short sleeve 👕of 2023! I may put on long sleeves shortly. Dad, thank God, is staying home tday. We're going to do our last 🧩Ice Cream. I will post a picture of it later :)Waiting for an Amazon 📦of Kleenex to come through the mail later. Kleenex seems to be the latest pandemic price :scared1:Although that is "cheap," compared to sponges! Who would imagine a basic package of O Cello Sponges would cost $35+?! Are any of you having trouble finding 🧽, I think this is supposed to be a sponge despute looking more like a peanut, sponges? Dad did get a 4 pack a few days ag at Rite Aid. Even 99 Cent Only is sponge less except for scouring sponges which we have. I hope as always that all of you are able to find and afford essentials!

Thank you dear Snowysmom, so much for your kind encouragement:hug:I really appreciate it and always you! I do ageee that like a lot of things, the first step is the hardest. However, they also do free and bring us joy often too :)

Logically, I do know that just going into Penney's and keeping a distance from others is in a way safer than going to the dentist when I think about it, for me, not having been inside a store outside of that one time very quickly at Staples, in 3 years, it's a big step for sure. I will wait to see what JC Penney does send me in May, keep it in prayer, and go from there 🛍️

Much prayer to you that today goes quickly and easily and truly will, as I absolutely believe it will, be the start of a new start of much added light and joy for you.

Lynn:grouphug:Sometimes those closest to us do indeed take their time with choices and listening! Blue roof prayers all around. I do love that you will get to see the color choices first. That would be so handy for me as a visual person to get to do also. I look forward sooner than later a picture of your new roof. May it help keep you and Don cozy and safe.

Wishing all of you a lovely Saturday. I will check back later :)

As a P.S. I hit some key that accidently caused the quoting box above, oh well. Same message :)

@PollyannaMom, did not know that! Cute.

Hi everyone, I have read up and will be here more now that I am feeling close to being all better.

Finished a puzzle today… favorite activity while watching a Phillies game working on a puzzle. If there’s anyone who wants this please let me know and I’ll pass it along.

8C48F967-5B29-4E6D-942F-731DD8AD70DC.jpeg
It’s 500 pieces.

I love "our" Disney ducks, PollyannaMom. Beautiful pictures. Next time I'm at DL, any ducks real or :donald:or Daisy will, of course, mean so much more to me to see for you and all other Quackers, too. God willing with my dad, such a trip might even include meeting you as well :)

:grouphug:Bobbiwoz, I'm so grateful to hear you're feeling better! :cheer2:So kind of you to offer the puzzle, too. I would do the same with mine except the pieces were so flimsy we had to tape them together to be able to do the puzzle! Hoping dad will find us a new 100 piece puzzle (our puzzle patience and space limit) when he goes to the Dollar Tree Thursday while I'm getting my teeth cleaned.

We got our Kleenex package all 18 boxes. No other mail today. Tomorrow we're expecting a few things we ordered on Walmart.com

All is quiet around here. Enjoy the rest of the day, friends🌼
