Good morning. It is 28 degrees here and cloudy. It should get into the 30s today and the sun may actually come out later. I am probably going to stay with Kenny one more night. It is nice to have company even if he is busy in his office. I think he likes the company too. Since he works this weekend he doesn't have plans. I hope to take a look at the complex in the next town over that my agent really likes. I will do some shopping for the grandkids valentine bags and maybe make Kenny a chicken parm calzone for suppers this week.

I hope everyone who has been not feeling well is doing better. Thoughts and prayers to our quackers who are trying to get through each day. :grouphug:

Have a good Saturday.

Good Saturday morning. We have a cloudy 40 degree day ahead. No winter weather in store for us , other than a few snow flurries for the next 10 days.

Nothing exciting going on here, as usual. Still debating changing both bathroom windows. I talked to Dave last night. He said it's a few hours more work, but it can be done if we want to.

I have a little cleaning to do this morning, Don has 2 playoff games coming up today, and the Pegasus Cup 2023 (horse racing) starts today, so I will be watching that.

Have a great day

Good Morning from chilly LA,

It's definitely nice to see sun out though :) Dad and I both enjoyed having pancakes for breakfast. His surprise birthday plate is out for delivery through the mail. I am looking foward to seeing it. Dad's birthday is in a couple weeks :)

Morning congestion but nothing bad. I need to take extra care to stay warm and also move around a bit more, some stiffness. Dad thankfully is staying home today, too. Thank you all so much for your continuing extra feel better prayers.

:grouphug:Dazed. Sending extra love your way. Snowysmom, you, too!

I also hope Kohls hasn't done away with Kohls Cash. I sure keep in prayer just being able to go there again, JC Penney, too.

Stay warm friends and please have a good Saturday. I will check back later.

We're hanging in there. Feeling slowly but surely better, thanks to God.
I am at Kennys and will stay the night. I do have to go to jury duty. I suspect you only get let off if there are no cases being heard that day.
We can pretty much tell if we are going to have to go in when we receive a jury summons. We're assigned a number and the lower it is the bigger chance of having to go in. When I received my summons a couple of months ago my number was in the 700's. I figured I wouldn't have to go in and when I called the message said "all potential jurors with numbers over 300 do not have to attend". If I lived in Dallas County, 700 would probably be considered a low number but since I live in a much smaller county its pretty high.
I am having a really hard week, maybe the visit out of town was too soon. I just keep crying, thinking about how the future without Kris will look. I miss him so much. I think reality has set in, and I don’t like it at all.
Should we not be closer to all better by the end of the weekend, dad will look into a free home Covid test
Mona, I don't know how old your dad is but if he is on Medicare he can get Covid home tests for free from the Walgreens, CVS, etc.

Thanks, Kirby :)

Quiet thread today. Prayers each of you are enjoying the day. Dad's birthday plate surprise came. Adorable just huge! It's definitely a very full-sized dinner plate. I had thought it would be smaller. That's okay. Dad will be able to use it for smaller and bigger meals. All good :)

Quick stop by...yesterday went off without a hitch and youngest was married and we have a new daughter. Short version was that it was a wonderful, intimate group of 16 and everything went to plan. Wonderful service & meal. Full blown reception/wedding party to follow later this summer.

Dinner this evening was potato soup - a first make for me, turned out good.

Congratulations to your son and his wife, Easyas! May they enjoy a lifetime of health and happiness together. So grateful all went well and that you and your husband were able to be part of the wedding. Also glad you enjoyed your soup. So, does, potato soup taste potatoey? I have always wondered. :)

The other one made a full price offer with me being able to stay until April 29 with paying condo fees and taxes. I took the offer. They only need to get a small amount of financing with the rest cash. They do want an inspection so we will see how that goes.
Fingers crossed!

I stayed in today. Was by myself most of the time so I piddled, did a couple loads of laundry and read some.

DS has an appointment for a bone marrow test on Thursday at MDA. It's to check and see if anything is going on, causing his numbers to stay low. He is also scheduled for chemo just in case his numbers rise high enough for it.

Hello and good evening fellow Quackers.

@FlyingDumbo I hope you and your dad are feeling better. I agree with others who say you should test. Hopefully it's not Covid, but if it is, it would be helpful to know you both have had it.

@dazedx3 sending you continued hugs, prayers, and good thoughts.

@Kirby also sending good thoughts and prayers for your son and his appointment.

@easyas123 So glad the pup found a home!

I don't have a lot to report from this end. I'm still just treading water and waiting and waiting and waiting. FH is still being a pain on many levels. He continues to go through my oldest son and sometimes my youngest to communicate about them coming over extra. That's the least of it, but don't want to go into too many details at the moment. I can't remember what I posted last, but my last meeting with my attorney didn't give me too much hope that we won't be settling out of court. I am terrified, anxious, and angry about it all at the same time. I am petrified for myself as I'm not sure I can do it and I honestly don't want people I know to have to take the stand and have to say things about either of us, things that make me look bad and really even FH for that matter. I want this to stay as much between just us as possible, I don't want family and friends to be drug into it more than they already are. Yet, I can't give up on my kids. I am scared though too that I have fought this hard and it might end up being for nothing.

I know so many on our little thread have such hard stuff they are dealing with. I am really in hopes that everyone can find some peace soon.

A few quotes for the night...

Frog thank you so much for posting those quotes. I am crying as I write this because they are so true. I am trying to be like Chris but he was such a good man that it is hard to do. Grief really is love and there is no time line. Everyone has their own way of working with it. You need to just be with your feelings at the moment.
I do hope things settle down a bit and you can catch a breath. Your FH is wrong to involve the kids in this. Does your attorney know this is going on? It should come up as an issue. One thing I do see from your postings is that you are a strong person who will fight for what is right for your kids. Don't worry about how FH and your friends are going to act or think. I do understand about wanting to keep this in the family and not have others be dragged into it. Prayers for you and your kids.

Kirby Prayers for your DS to have a good visit at MDA. It sounds like he is getting really good care there.

Another cold morning. I am heading back to the condo and then over to Jeff's house. I found these 4 days at Kenny's were nice, to spend time with him and the grandkids for the 1st 2 nights. I paid attention to how I feel out here especially while I was driving around and going into stores. I do feel a bit less anxiety and it does feel like a place I can live. I did go to look at the condo complex my agent really likes. I do too. It is a bit out in the country and about 15 minutes from Kenny, but once you enter the grounds, I felt like it was a community. There are townhouse condos and a few buildings with the one floor. But with the landscaping and way it is laid out, they all blend together nicely. The walkways were cleared of snow and ice and ready for walking. I would like a condo to come up for sale in my size and price so I can take a look to see if it speaks to me. There is another condo complex only about 8 minutes from Kenny's that I like but the condos are bigger and more expensive. They do have a few smaller ones at the top of my price range so I would like to be able to view on of those if they ever come up for sale.

Have a good day.

Good morning all--it was 22 when I got up. They are calling for rain this afternoon, possibly mixed with snow and ice.

@easyas123 --Congratulations to the newlyweds. Glad that all went as planned

@frog3101 ,@Snowysmom ,@dazedx3 , and @Kirby--prayers and :grouphug:'s going out to you, and to any other Quackers who are having a rough time these days.

I woke up with a sore throat and a sniffly nose. Feels like a cold coming on, the sore throat is usually my first indicator.
I don't plan on doing much today. Catch up with a few shows, maybe write a bit, no chores except washing dishes and making dinner.

Have a good Sunday

Another cloudy day here, and I will be going to the laundromat. - I think we narrowly avoided a dryer fire last night! :scared1:

Thankfully, DH was in the basement den, which is right next to the laundry room, and he thought he smelled something burning. We unplugged the dryer right away, and opened the bulkhead door to let any smoke out before it was enough to trip the alarms.

We're not sure right now whether the heating element went or some lint got past the trap and was smoldering a little. We never saw actual flames, but will obviously get the machine checked out.

For now, DS's laundry is on the drying racks, and I will take the other loads to the laundromat today.

To top it off, one of the cats got scared and hid. But when we couldn't find her, we were briefly afraid that she had slipped out the bulkhead in the confusion. (We had closed an interior door to keep them from that area, but worried she had somehow snuck past.) Thankfully, I did find her huddled behind the "living room" sofa.

Glad all are safe including kitty. They can go out so easily. I heard some meowing one time while sitting by my living room window.

Walked about inside my house and couldn't find my Persian. She was outside, under my deck up against a basement window. I guess I was sitting almost straight above her when I heard her which was fortunate as she has a tiny voice and rarely makes any sounds. She only weighs 7 pounds and a lot of that is her big fluffy coat. A squirrel could probably take her down.

She was so frightened as she never goes out except in a carrier to go to our vet. My daughter crawled under the deck and brought her back inside and she's stayed in ever since.

Dryers - I have 3 dryers in my basement. One has a bad heating element which I kept meaning to have fixed. Haven't done it yet. The other two work fine. It's definitely important to make sure the dryer vents are cleaned out and that the outside part is also clear. When the heating element went I got a free one of Craigslist as a temporary fix. I've since bought a new set also - I was waiting for my old Maytag washer to die and it sort of did for the most part. But it got to be about 34 before it had it's first problem.

Anyway the freebie wasn't working for the folks that gave it to me. She said it wouldn't dry stuff very well. I took it anyway because by the time she said this, we already had it on the truck. Worst case was dropping it at the recycling place for a few dollars. My son would have happily did that at the time.

I opened it and the lint trap was full. I undid 2 screws at either end and removed the plastic housing for the top of the lint trap. Then I took my 'dryer' lint trap brush - a long handled skinny brush from Amazon that costs less than $10 for two and I fished a boatload of lint from inside the dryer.

The dryer has been working fine ever since. This lint trap was inside the door area and I know some dryers are different.

I'm just happy that lady and her family did not have a fire because it could easily have happened.

Sunday cheer and an extra hug to all!

I am so grateful to have had a great night's sleep. Coughing a little bit but overall feeling better. Dad is currently at the 99 Cent Only Store followed by Pavilions. I'm keeping in prayer that he truly will stay home tomorrow. I keep telling him he needs to be home, take care, so he can finally get all well! I enjoyed watching Sunday worship a little while ago. Great reindeer message that we each indeed have been called by the Lord to serve according to His purpose and will for us. He has planted within each of us a gift to do just that. I sure thank each of you for the kind witness and love you spread!

Continuing 🙏your son, Kirby! I hope you enjoyed your📕Glad to hear you had a quieter Saturday at home!

:grouphug:Frog, you are so courageous. Thank you for sharing with us such powerful quotes. So very many prayers of 🕊️to you and your kids!

:hug:Snowysmom and always continuing support with love to you! Please, always, step back to truly listen to your heart and how you are feeling! One step at a time. Know, always, we all are cheering you on with kind care and love.

:hug:Lynn and feel better prayers, too! Have some warm soup and please take good care!

Praise extra to God, dear Pollyanna that you did not have a fire! Yikes! How scary. Also, so grateful your :cat:is okay. May all go smoothly at the laundromat :laundy:

Pray you and your 🐈are having a good Sunday, too, dear Judique!

How did you trim your other dogs’ nails?
I guess I never answered this...we had someone come to the house to do them, same girl who did Dolly's. They were so good a out it. They just laid on their beds or the couch and she cut them, no problem. LoL We didn't need to get them professionally groomed...we were able to wash and brush them ourselves at home and they were good with that do. Luckily our trainer has a groomer she highly recommends for anxious dogs.

yesterday went off without a hitch and youngest was married and we have a new daughter.
Congratulations to everyone. Sounds like a great day.

A few quotes for the night...
:grouphug: huge hugs to you and the kids. Thanks for sharing the great quotes...

But with the landscaping and way it is laid out, they all blend together nicely. The walkways were cleared of snow and ice and ready for walking.
Sounds like a great neighborhood...I hope something comes up soon so you can at least take a look. Hopefully everything goes well with the inspection on the condo.

I woke up with a sore throat and a sniffly nose.
Hope you feel better. I keep thinking I'm getting a cold or something and then nothing comes of it.

- I think we narrowly avoided a dryer fire last night! :scared1:
Yikes....scary. Glad your DH was close by to catch it before anything happened.

@dazedx3 :grouphug: soo many hugs and so much love coming to you.

@flyingdumbo127 Hope you and your dad feel better soon.

Its been a few days but I feel like Ive been busy but I really haven't. OMG....I love my dog, love her, but she is a lot of work. LoL Well alot of work for me as I seem to be the only one doing any of it....*ahem* Friday, I told DH he was on Dolly duty all weekend because i needed a freaking break...he did *most* of yesterday and so far all this morning/afternoon. She's just a lot and we have to do a lot more for her than we did our other boys...and I thought they were high maintenance...:scared::sad2: Anyway...like I said we love her to death and know in time she'll be amazing but it's taking a lot of work. We have a trainer that's coming once as week for 6 weeks, started Weds and she's already doing great with what we started working on. Right now, I feel like I have a naughty toddler so I'm just looking forward to better days ahead. ;)

Hope you all have a great rest of your day.

Thanks, AuntieMe3. Always good to see you posting:hug:Dolly, paws and prayers:dogdance:You know I would happily enjoy a shift of Dolly Duty if I lived closer to you! Thank you for all the care you give her. I truly hope you get to enjoy some quiet, you, time! Please take care of yourself, my friend.

^ I can relate a bit, Auntie! Remember, we adopted an “8 yr old“ dog and when he arrived we realized he was more like 3 or 4 and has a ton of energy we have to channel every day or he paces and digs, etc. Our back yard is full of holes which we never had before, lol. We feel bad if it’s rainy, cold or snowy out and don’t make it out for a romp, but he and Toto do have a big yard to run in, at least. I think I mentioned recently I think he is finally settling in and thinks of this as home. I felt like before he was thinking how he could get back to his home. 😕 He loves all of us in his own way now and it’s nice to see. His people before were males, so for DD and I it took time to earn his love and respect, but I think we’ve gotten there. DD would love for him to come hang out in her room but he’s just starting to go in there. We can see he still has his demons and gets frightened sometimes. It doesn’t take much to make him run away if he’s scared. But boy has he bloomed into a beautiful dog as he’s put on weight and relaxed somewhat. All of our other dogs we’ve had as puppies (except two I grew up with) so it’s been interesting having a four year old dog joining our family who went through so much fear. Sending hugs for good results working with the trainer and for Miss Dolly to settle in.

Glad the wedding was beautiful, and for all the other good news! 🐥
