Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

:grouphug:and thank you and your family Pea for giving Grady and Toto, such a safe and loving home. They are blessed :dogdance:indeed. Not easy for a new family member canine or human sometimes to feel at home. Love and Security will forever be what will bring each dog in this case to that place.

I forgot to say earlier that dad was shocked that Target wanted $22 for a small :umbrella:Prices on everything are jyst crazy these days, aren't they? Thankfully we do have needed umbrellas already. Dad was just wanting a smaller one.

Quiet afternoon. 2:22pm here. Seems much later or perhaps timeless! :hug:to all. Have a great rest of the smday.

I have fallen woefully behind, I can't remember everything but
@Kirby - I hope you get some positive news about your son.

@Pea-n-Me - congrats on your son's promotion

@flyingdumbo127 - hope you and your dad feel better

@frog3101 - sorry you are going through so much. I was surprised to read that if you go to court there can be witnesses. It doesn't usually work that way here. I'm sure things will work out.

@Snowysmom - how lucky to get an offer so quickly. You will find what you want, just take your time. Sounds like you have a good agent working with you.

I have been working hard on getting my pictures sorted out. I don't know if I mentioned the only file, I am definitely sure couldn't be saved was my Scotland trip in 2019 with Jim. I'm really sad about that one because I can't access the pictures on the memory card. Something went wrong with it and the computer and camera say the card needs to be formatted. I'm hoping to find a program that lets me access the pics. On the bright side I found some in a cloud I didn't know I had, and I posted quite a few on Facebook so I was at least able to access them.

We finally have an appointment with the cardiologist for Jim on Tuesday. I am hoping we can get him off the one med because it is a higher priced one and he was only put on it because a different med was causing swelling. He's been off that med since May, so my fingers are crossed. We lost the great city plan that paid for his meds. The Eliquis only cost $20 every 3 months. I am really afraid to get that one refilled when it's time. They will also give the clearance for the cataract surgery, so he is scheduled for the first eye on February 2nd. I am still nervous about it and joked that afterwards when I need to give him his eye drops, we better keep a bucket nearby. I have a weak stomach when it comes to that stuff.

I got the flights booked for my Disney trip. That was a pain. I have a credit from the Alaska trip. $125 for 2 first class ticket complaints and lost luggage that wasn't lost. Not much compensation but it was better than nothing. The only issue was I had to book my ticket and then book the other 3. When I got all of the information put in the airline's website refused to accept my credit card. I had to call them, and the solution was using a different card. That was unacceptable because I earn triple points with this card. It took almost an hour and Jim interpreting for me as I have an issue with accents, but we have our tickets.

The best news is that the school selections were posted on Friday. I was thrilled beyond belief. I was at Wyatt's birthday party, I can't believe he turned 9 years old, when Ella called. Of course, she had to make a video to send me, not just give me the results, she is so dramatic. She got into the top 2 schools on her list. She got into the #1 school in Philadelphia and PA and it's #22 in the country. Of course, she wants the school in the HORRIBLE neighborhood ranked #4 in the state, # 2 or 3 in the city and 284 in the country. I have 5 days to convince her to go to the #1 school. She's opting for Central because it doesn't have a dress code. My two youngest brothers went to Central, and they were both assaulted at the bus stops, which I didn't know. Masterman, the other school, is in a slightly better neighborhood and a friend is a teacher there. If she gets into trouble, she can always get her to help. The #1 school is slightly easier and quicker for her to get to using public transportation.

Hope you all have a good night.

:hug:Taz and Happy belated Birthday to Wyatt! 🙏for Ella to make the right school choice indeed. No matter what she and Wyatt, sure are blessed to have you and your love and support, presence in their lives! Many prayers, my friend, also to Jim. Thinking extra of dear you!

Small positive is how thankful dad and I are that the tollhouse chips he bought this morning at Target are the perfect chocolate color! We will be able to now bake cookies on Tuesday so that we can both give some to Sandro (Sparkletts man) and both of dad's financial people on Wednesday. Of course, dad and I will enjoy some, tasty cookies, too!

Sweet dreams friends with love.

We're not sure right now whether the heating element went or some lint got past the trap and was smoldering a little. We never saw actual flames, but will obviously get the machine checked out.
Yikes!

:hug:Frog!

Feels colder today even though the thermometer says differently. We are expecting some colder temperatures tomorrow night into Tuesday, possible snow.

Heard a good sermon in church. Then off to Diner 66 for breakfast. I love their Texas omelettes! They added mushrooms today which was a nice surprise. Their grits are always spot on and their coffee was dark and strong, just like I like it.

Paid some bills and put together a spread sheet of our monthly necessary expenses. We're thinking ahead when we do finally retire and what we will receive from SS. Going to try and live on that amount and get used to it so it's no surprise when we have less available. We have a small amount saved for retirement but don't want to rely on that.

DH cooked hamburgers for dinner. When we have a late breakfast we don't eat lunch. The burgers came out perfect! Popped some Ore-Ida Crispy Crowns in the oven, I like them better than Tator Tots.

The GKs spent the weekend with their dad, Lou Lou came home crying, Lil Joe was stone faced. Took a little while for them to come around. Lou Lou told DD that she was stealing her dad's money. DD explained to her that, no, her dad was giving it to her to spend on them but there is only so much you can say to a four year old. She also told DD that her stepmom was rich. He must have worked on Lou Lou a lot this weekend.

That's a smart idea. We did something similar when I was expecting DS - lived as much as we could on DH's salary, to see if we could we could swing me not going back for a long while.

@Kirby So sorry your DD's ex is such a mean person. How can he say those things to a young child. :grouphug:

@TazDev Congrats to your DGD. I do hope she makes the right choice for the right reasons. School #1 sounds like a great choice.

@AuntieMe3 Sounds like it was lovely wedding. Glad you are training Miss Dolly. She sounds like a sweetie.

@Pea-n-Me Grady has come a long way. He is a beautiful guy. It is nice that he is fitting in nicely with the family.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad you can make cookies. They will be appreciated.

Another cold dreary day. I am so tired of rain and snow showers. I need my outdoor time and not getting it is not good for my anxiety and stress. I am stressed about the inspection tomorrow. These condos so have their issues so I just hope nothing comes up that is a deal breaker. I want to be able to move on. Kenny has a stressful week with divorce issues. He sees his attorney and then soon to be ex and her attorney. It is mostly about finances and he is beyond stressed about the house issue. I just hope and pray he is able to keep the house for the kids. They love being there as it is the place they know best. He is a grown man but I still worry about him and want the best.

I saw Jeff and family yesterday. The kids are so sweet and cute. I talked with Jeff for a bit and then played a game with the kids. Their other grandparents came over for a quick visit so we talked for a bit. Sam is really moving along. I suspect he will be pulling himself up soon. He gets where he wants to. He wanted to put my hand in his mouth and take a chomp with his nice new sharp teeth. No thanks.

Off to work. IF the weather does not get too bad I have lunch with my friend today. Have a nice day.

Good Monday morning.❄️

It is cold!!! :cold:

Worked all weekend so nothing exciting to report on.

I ended up picking my car up from the mechanic Friday on the way to work. I didn't have them fix the issue, Mitchell fixed it Saturday instead. It was going to cost me almost $700 for them to fix it, no thanks, my kid can do it.

Slept all day Saturday and then went back to work. Around 6 am Sunday morning it started to snow. By the time I left work at 7:30 am, it was coming down pretty hard and it was a heavy snow ☃️. When I woke up at noon there was about 3 ft. of snow on the ground and it was still snowing. Got some laundry done and then parked my butt on the couch for the Bengals playoff game, we won🏈🙂. During the game, 3 teenagers were going around asking to shovel snow. I gave them $30 and they did my driveway and sidewalk. After the game I went and shoveled a path on the deck for the dogs.

I have an appointment with my sleep doctor later this morning so I can get my CPAP machine reapproved. I need to order some new supplies and the approval expired.

Back to work, at least it's from home today. Have a great day and stay warm!

The Eliquis only cost $20 every 3 months. I am really afraid to get that one refilled when it's time.
I hear you on that one. Last year before I got the prescription assistance for it, I had to have it filled for the first time. $800 for 3 months! I almost passed out when I saw the cost. I've reapplied for assistance again this year, and thankfully I still have more than 2 full months of it left, since it was last sent to me in December., while I wait for their decision. The cost of some meds is no joke, I hope they can get Jim onto some affordable ones! Good luck with his cardiologist appt tomorrow. Don (husband) has his next Monday.

Very mild morning here, 38 now. Sun is out, but they are calling for rain later. They say we have a potential storm in the making for Wednesday. I may go out tomorrow and do errands and get groceries.

@Snowysmom - same thing here about the weather and not being able to walk around and exercise as much. I think that's a part of why I just feel blah so much of the time lately. I am used to being out in the yard doing stuff most of the day. I can't wait for Spring--Good luck with the inspection, I have that everything will be fine!

@footballmouse Congrats to the Bengals, I was rooting for them. My Patriots and Bucs didn't make it this year, so I have to find someone else to root for.

@Kirby How awful that he made Lou Lou and Lil Joe feel that way. They are too young to be subjected to that kind of thing. Frog's soon to be ex is pretty much pulling the same thing on her kids, especially her 2 oldest ones. It's just not fair.

@frog3101 I never heard of anyone being called as a witness in a divorce case either. Maybe it won't happen. If it does, just keep your head high. You only want what's best for the kids, and that's what will prevail

Have a nice morning

We always welcome new fans. My son, Jacob, is a huge Patriots fan. He's also a big fan of Tom Brady so he'll cheer for whatever team he's playing for but he's staying true to the Patriots.

We can pretty much tell if we are going to have to go in when we receive a jury summons. We're assigned a number and the lower it is the bigger chance of having to go in.
I've never had regular/local jury duty but about 3 months ago I received a questionnaire about serving on a federal jury, which would mean driving to Baltimore to sit on the case. Ugh...just what I don't want to do! Anyway, it said to expect to hear from them sometime in "early 2023" if I remember correctly. Wondering how all that will go.
So, does, potato soup taste potatoey? I have always wondered. :)
well....yeah! It turned out okay, it was a fairly basic recipe that we Dr'd up w/ green onions, cheese & bacon. And sour cream. Kinda like a loaded baked potato soup.
DS has an appointment for a bone marrow test on Thursday at MDA.
Good luck to him, I hope everything goes well.
I'm still just treading water and waiting and waiting and waiting
That must be wearing, the stress of the hurry up & wait. I wish it could be over for you.
I'm keeping in prayer that he truly will stay home tomorrow. I keep telling him he needs to be home, take care, so he can finally get all well!
Have you discussed with him combining his running around and doing it all on one day and/or at just one or two places in order to not be running all over town several days a week? Or is it that he gets stir crazy if he can't be out & about and needs to get out of the house?
I am stressed about the inspection tomorrow.
I'm sure it will go fine, fingers crossed it doesn't stress you out to much over the next 24 hours.
When I woke up at noon there was about 3 ft. of snow on the ground and it was still snowing.
Dang, 3 ft? I'd love a big snow fall just like that once a year. We haven't had any, although it did sleet a bit yesterday - does that count?❄️🌨️❄️ ha ha, probably not!

Speaking of snow, I turned on one of the football games - don't know which one - and it was snowing, I think it snowed the entire time. Something about a football game on in the background on a cold, damp Sunday afternoon that reminds me of my childhood & my grandfather & Dad yelling at the TV:)

Thanks for all the congrats on youngest's wedding. Looks like a summer reception/party is in the cards.

Not a whole lot on the agenda this week, just the usual. Nail appt. on Wednesday evening. Vet appt. on Friday morning. This coming weekend we have a major closet clean-out to deal with, getting rid of a wardrobe in our bedroom and going to keep everything in the closets, so I need to reconnoiter everything.

Leftover taco type stuff for dinner this evening.

Kirby, those poor children! I feel horrible for them. No one, especially a child, should be in such a situation with anyone let alone a parent who needs to be protecting and loving them unconditionally! Huge prayers! That is very smart indeed to look at your long term spending and try to plan ahead especially as you know with prices these days! I Googled Tater Crowns and see they look just like the old hash browns Carl’s Jr used to serve so many years ago. I think Burger Kings looked that way, also but Carl’s were much better. I do hope you enjoyed yours. Just an extra hug and love!

That was a smart idea, too, PollyannaMom!

Hug, Snowysmom, I am so ready for Summer weather, dad is, too! Hooray for and God Bless grandkids! Continuing prayers this week ahead brings you greater peace and another step closer to being done with your current condo. Thinking of you always.

Footballmouse, prayers for better sleep ahead to you, my friend. I am so grateful that your son will be able to save you so much money! Thank God that He instilled your son with the gift of cat mechanics!

Lynn, prayers for you and Don always, my friend. Please do get your errands done today so you can be cozy in a possible storm to come!

Thank you, Easyas! I have and dad and I will have that discussion again! Glad to hear you have a quieter week ahead.

I'll check back in later, friends. Have a great Monday everyone!

Good afternoon slipping thread save!

Dad saved a lot of money this morning at Ralph's for which, of course we are so grateful. I got a couple texts from my Houston cousins, along with a couple of very sweet PMs. We're going to watch some Price is Right shortly and try to stay cozy. I am absolutely ready for Summer. Grateful for all :)

I feel for him! We never stop worrying about our kids no matter their age.

Made a Costco run this morning. Picked up a 24 count eggs for $5.99. I got two of them, that was the limit. I also bought one of their rotisserie chickens. Deboned it when we got home and plan on making chicken tortilla soup with some of the meat tomorrow night.

Well it was a very busy weekend at work. Had some interesting and nice patients. Had a very hairy situation at one point and happened to be working with a doctor who was really nice and worked with me to solve the issue. Wrote a note to his superiors thanking him and he wrote a nice note back about me to mine. The situation could’ve turned bad but we did all the right things. So nice when that happens and we were able to recognize eachother’s contributions. Hospital environments are really tough right now so when things go well, it’s a blessing and reminds us it’s all worth it. Later the patient thanked me which was also nice.

Poor Toto is sick. Had him at the vet’s today. They gave him antibiotics and a shot for allergies. He’s just laying next to me now not feeling well. Quiet. Thankful for good veterinary care. We think that maybe his immunity was lowered a little from the stress of being in the kennel. I have had that happen to one of my other sensitive dogs, too. I feel bad. Hopefully he starts feeling better soon. Afterward DH, DD and I went out for Chinese food at a place nearby that DD really likes. Their hot and sour soup is amazing and was really good tonight. It was snowing out at a good clip, and pretty, so it was good to have some nice soup to warm us up, and we shared a small poo poo platter. (Took lots home and DH will bring it into work, he and a coworker share lunches every day.)

Early bedtime for me tonight, I’m exhausted. Getting up early in the morning, DD asked me to go to a medical appt with her. I was going to go to see my elderly friend but I never called to get permission to come in early, and I don’t want to risk getting turned away (DD was going to drop me off as it’s near where she has to go) so I just think I’ll go another time. I wanted to pick her up some candy or something for her room that she can share, etc., and I completely missed going into the store on the way home. Oh well, we’ll have a better visit in a few days.

Good luck with the inspection tomorrow Snowysmom. Happy for good news. Prayers for all. 🐥

Wonderful bargain shopping 🥚Kirby! So glad you got a good deal on eggs. Please get some rest tonight, too!,

:grouphug:Pea and many prayers that you and Toto have sweet dreams and feel refreshed and better in the morning. Grateful extra to God for your doctor coworker and patient, too. You know I thank you always for all your wonderful and kind care.

Sweet Dreams everyone. Please stay well and warm!

My brother in law spoke at my divorce but it was just to attest to the fact that we had lived separately for the required minimum time, nothing else personal.
Made a Costco run this morning. Picked up a 24 count eggs for $5.99. I got two of them, that was the limit. I also bought one of their rotisserie chickens. Deboned it when we got home and plan on making chicken tortilla soup with some of the meat tomorrow night.
I forgot my eggs! Packed my cooler with breakfast things and left the eggs in the refrigerator.

Left very early this morning at 4:30am to try to beat the rush hour traffic. It was dark and it was raining. Not my favorite part of the drive. But I did make my way out of mist, rain and fog eventually and had no other issues other than along drive.

Stopped to gas up, stretch and walk a bit a few times. Popped into Sam's Club to buy some bagged salad and some fruit.

Since I was fairly early I stopped and got my hair trimmed. I was going to do that later on, but saw an opportunity and took it. I was very pleased with the cut, and it feels so much better!

After that I got some shrimp takeout, with coleslaw and a side of veggies instead of fries. They had a nice squash, carrot and onion mixture. I do love FF's but too many carbs for a diabetic and I'd already been a bad girl earlier.

Once I arrived at the resort, my room was ready, so I got my stuff inside. I am in a building near the Marina near where the boats go in and out. A nice couple from Massachusetts helped me bring some of my things up the steps and chatted for a bit. Shared my bananas from Sam's as I didn't need all of them.

Before sunset I drove over to the beach to see the sun go down. Here you can see the sunset as well as sunrise at certain times of the year since we are on an island.

Here's a pic of the big sandbar:

Anyway, all told I was at the beach for about 20-30 minutes and it was gorgeous (61 degrees) and felt warm with no breeze but I was bundled up and wearing 'northern' clothes.

I had parked under the beach house and there had been other cars there when I arrived. By the time I returned to my car everyone was gone. Knocked the sand of my shoes and drove the short distance back.

Back to the room, got stuff put away, finished my food from earlier and settled down for the night.

Tomorrow morning I'll go for another beach walk as Wednesday will be rain - maybe. It says 98% chance. I can use the rainy day to catch up a bit and to plan for next week.

I set up my coffee for morning so all I have to do is push the button. I've been waking up pretty early but today was a long day.
