Jack and I spent a lot of yesterday on the road in the next county, about 45 minutes away. Started at my GYN visit which is more like a visit with an old friend. All is well for another year. I will be sad when he retires one day. We share grandkid pictures now.

After that, we went to a Target in that area (we don't have one nearby.) Jack wanted a couple of things and I ended up buying 2 books for Christmas gifts for grands. Then to the billiards store where Jack got his table to look for accessories. Next up, lunch at a restaurant we like in that area that is too far to drive to just for a meal. On the way home, we stopped at the Conowingo Dam to look for eagles. Then tend to migrate there October to January. We only saw 4 yesterday.

Came home for a bit to regroup then headed down to Sarah's to drop off a couple more things before Thanksgiving. Stopped for, hopefully, the last grocery shop before Thanksgiving. But they have a promotion and if I can spend $50 more, I get a $20 coupon. Anyway, Jack said he smelled something like an electrical fire. I kept saying I didn't smell anything, We checked out at 7:08 (on the receipt) and, per the fire blog, a fire was reported at 7:41. It was an electrical fire in the HVAC system.

Today, I sit at the Welcome Center at church this afternoon then a pedicure after that.

I had to laugh when you said the grandkids will think it's a real holiday. Wait till they are old enough to start explaining that one, lol!

We had a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe ride-in car when my lids were little. We always called it the "Beep Beep" because that is what Sarah called it. More recently, when Andrew went to his in-laws, his niece had one. He called it a Beep Beep because he thought that was really it's name. He got a good laugh.

Question of the Day: What time do you traditionally eat your Thanksgiving Dinner?

It depends on grandkids nap times. Any time between 2-5. Each year is different.

One said something that upset me pretty good but I’m trying to let it go.

I hope that you can. That happened to me sitting in the Welcome Center one time. An Empowerment Center client said some hurtful things to me but I am sure she was dealing with mental illness but it still hurt.

Did everyone see the tragedy at the Apple store today?

I had to google too. That is awful.

We have had a lot of house fires around here lately. One about a half mile away killed a person.

I forgot to post this last night. While we were making dinner, DH grabbed me to come outside and look at something in the sky. (He’s a bit of an amateur astonomist and weather bug.) I couldn’t see much other than a spot. He mentioned two planets, I forget which ones, but I grabbed a picture just on my iPhone and was a little surprised when I enlarged it. I googled around to see if I could figure out exactly what it was, but couldn’t find much. Anyway, I thought the picture was pretty cool, and thought, especially, you’d like it @Breezy_Carol!

They named the driver of the SUV that plowed into the Apple Store yesterday but didn’t say much else about him. Hospitals did a fantastic job with the carnage. Still, so sad.

Back from Disney and not yet rested enough and ready for the normal of the next week plus the Christmas rush!

Arrived at BWV and got our room at 1:30pm. Went for lunch at Big River and had a big and delicious salad.

Had a great trip and enjoyed a few of my usual treats, such as riding Jungle Cruise and the Safari.

In Magic Kingdom I had a Sleepy Hollow waffle with nutella and blueberries, banana and strawberries. We did a lot of attractions in MK and I headed back to the room by 1pm - I was tuckered out. Friend stayed till closing. Oh and while she was on Big Thunder Mountain I took the raft to Tom Sawyer's Island - my first time ever. I enjoyed the quiet.

In AK had a chicken bowl with potato and sweet potato hash at the Satu'li canteen. I love this food but my friend had the beef and noodles and didn't care for it. Cast member noticed she didn't eat and brought some fresh chips and a couple of cupcakes.

In DHS I rode Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railroad for the first time. I miss the old ride. We also did Indiana Jones and Toy Story. After walking a bit I was done and left friend to do more stuff. I go back end of January and I tend to be just slightly interested in attractions. Friend doesn't mind doing stuff on her own.

We also circled through Epcot 3-4 times, mostly eating, drinking and people watching.

Went offsite to the Outlets and found Loungefly mini backpacks for the grands, plus an outfit for the new granddaughter. Gave them to them yesterday before I drove them to the airport. They all went to Colorado to be with my ex for TG. DD wants to know why I didn't get her a mini backpack also and was asking the girls to let her use theirs, lol.

Ate at Disney Springs a couple of times, Terralina - always able to walk in and I really liked the salmon. Had the TG sandwich at Earl of Sandwich on departure day.

We also stayed at GF Villas for our MK reservations and definitely felt like princesses in the new rooms. We were lagoon view on the ground floor, which suited me just fine.

I wasn't ready for all the walking this time, so I tired easily. We did early entry at a park and then closed out most evenings at Epcot. I ate at quite a few food and wine booths as usual. Did not make it up to the DVC lounge this time - forgot about it.

Friend wanted to watch the parade in MK, so I sat through it on a fence in Frontier Land. She was busy photographing all the characters and floats.

We also rode the double decker bus. Tyler from Pottstown, Pa was our driver and he seated us up front with him. We were the only ones on the bus and caught it in front of MK. I asked if it was round trip as if he let us out near the gate I'd probably be running on back to my comfy bed! Tyler was very good at explaining the history and made our little ride special. You could tell he was proud of his job and his bus, which made it special to be with him.

We skipped our first night and left a day later so as not to have to drive in the rain. The ride down and back were both excellent, with not too much traffic until the Springfield mixing bowl on our return, but we hopped in the toll lanes. Stayed overnight (both ways) in Santee at the Fairfield Inn which is a very clean and well-maintained Fairfield.

One lowlight - caught a pebble from a pickup truck that crossed in front of us from left to right lane in Georgia. We were in the middle lane. Nothing showed at first, but the pebble was in the well area under the passenger side wiper, where the hit was, and next morning it had spread halfway across the window. Probably from the heat and cold expansion/contractions. I've already scheduled replacement next week.

We checked out the Gingerbread House at Grand Floridian. I was also at Beach Club and Boardwalk lobbies but didn't see the ones there. Not sure if it was because I wasn't looking or that they weren't up yet.

Visited other friend at Bonnet Creek. They had a very nice villa. We had carried some stuff down for them, as friend flew.

Thanksgiving is too close! I wish it were another week away!

Monday, November 21 - The Double Cluster (all night)​

The northeastern sky on mid-November evenings hosts the bright constellations of Perseus and W-shaped Cassiopeia, with the very bright star Capella positioned below them. The sky between Perseus and Cassiopeia hosts the Double Cluster, a pair of bright open star clusters that together cover a finger’s width of the sky. They make a spectacular sight in binoculars or telescope at low magnification. The higher (more westerly) cluster, designated NGC 869, is dense and contains more than 200 white and blue-white stars. The lower (easterly) cluster NGC 884 is looser and hosts a handful of 8th magnitude golden stars. The clusters formed in the same part of the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way. They are about 7,300 light-years away from us. Their region of the sky is heavily contaminated by opaque interstellar dust that has diminished the clusters’ intensity.

Yesterday I ordered Hunter (DGS#4)'s gifts on Kohls. It was the same price as at Amazon, less than at Target/Walmart, and I got KC for next week. Having them shipped directly to them. I got him a toodler sport set, with a hoop and net and a bat w/Tball.; a handwash pump toy that makes noise and lights up and plays music to help learn how to wash hands; and a Leapfrog sounds book, this one about Things that go. I also ordered me a pair of jeans to try; a brand I haven't tried before, so I got just the one pair for pick up, and If I like them, I might go ahead and order a couple more.

I went and picked up the Kohls jeans this am; stopped at the Dollar Tree to get some Christmas cards for the grandkids and kids, and some present stuff (bag/tissue paper/bow) for DH's secret santa thing at work. Went by Starbucks and got a chestnut praline latte and the cranberry bar (yum). Then to Publix, where I spent $320 (in 2019, it would have been maybe $150 worth). Paid $5.75 for a dozen eggs (Egglands best, yeah I know I could have paid $3.95 for a dz of generic, but we like the flavor of the EB better). I didn't even buy any meat, except lunchmeat (ham, pastrami, roast beef) and salami/prsciutto for the snack tray for Tday. No soda, no coffee...I still don't know where all the money went!

The handiman is supposed to be here replacing the gutters. He came by this am, dropped his ladder and tools in the backyard, and hasn't been back since. Don't care if it gets done; that's the landlord's problem, not mine.

I also ordered me another cardigan, a pair of gloves, and a hat on Kohls. I don't own any gloves or hats, because, hey, Florida; but I'll need them in Nebraska, lol. I might order a scarf too, when the KC is active.

dinner is HF: soy ginger pork patties w/roasted broccoli salad and chili peanut dressing and buttery rice.

Tomorrow we are having HF sesame soy beef bowls w/carrots and rice for lunch; making beef and feta meatloaves, with roasty potatoes and a tomato/cucumber salad for dinner (HF). DS gets to help with dinner, I think. I am going to make the pecan pie and cornbread tomorrow, and brine the turkey.

We did our errands and had no trouble. Neither Walmart or Aldi's was that busy, surprisingly. Walmart still had no jellied cranberry sauce or regular candy canes, while aldi's had cases and cases of both of the...weird!
Sunny and 60 outside, feels so nice that I might go sit on the porch swing for awhile. Everything is put away and dinner will be leftover ziti with meatballs and sauce. Might finish up the coleslaw also.
We have everything (and more) for Thanksgiving dinner. Just the 2 of us, so we will be eating leftovers for awhile, but I love Thanksgiving dinner, one of my favorite meals of the year

We were in Acme Sunday and they had plenty of both. You guys don't have a Acme up there, do you? Maybe Martins or Food Lion/Giant?

I spent $317.68; with $2.50 in coupons and saved $106.29. Not a single actual meal. It was all stuff for Tday, and the weekend.

Food prices have really shot up. We spent about that for our Thanksgiving shop, only meat I got was a ham. And another fair bit of $$$ at the liquor store for other supplies.

Big River - we ate inside and it's not peaceful. It's downright noisy! We were fine for the short time we were there. It was fairly cool outside so I wasn't asking to be out. Later the outside was filled as we were leaving and the inside still had tables.

I've also gotten takeout there a few times over the years while staying at Boardwalk.

Segueing to another topic: mobile ordering! Finally got the App onto my phone. I'd resisted having a Disney App on my phone, but thought I would need it for mobile order since it seemed that way at Polynesian back in April.

I was at Beach Club visiting and decided to do a mobile order at the Boardwalk Deli (formerly Boardwalk Bakery) on my way back - 5 minute walk. Ordered a sandwich and it wouldn't go through. Had to include a 'side', which was already in the price. Chose tomato soup. Order goes through but pickup is 35 minutes away. Walked to the deli and no one inside and no Mobile orders up. Completely unbusy! They checked for my order and made it and I got it in about 5 minutes. The soup was delicious. The pastrami sandwich was not, and I like pastrami. But the banana bread I impulse added when I went in was delicious!

After that I skipped the mobile orders and just went in and ordered and had no significant waits. Not to say I won't do it in future.
