Happy Thanksgiving-eve!

Have made some cheeseballs for those who missed out Saturday, but will do my other dishes later. I'll probably prep the mac 'n cheese tonight, and then do the pea casserole right before we leave tomorrow.

Just stopping by to say Happy Thanksgiving to all. I stupidly forgot my charging cord for my work laptop. I only worked 2 hours today and am now off to look around town and then bake. I am at Kenny's house.

Have a good day.
You deserve a day off! The missing cord is a sign. 😆💛

I think we need to agree that keeping totally up to date on posts here is not necessary. It shouldn't turn into work or a chore.
Definitely!

Up with one of the pups early this AM, 5 o'clock hit and I had a great dane standing on my bed looking down on me, talking and asking to go outside.
Cup of coffee in hand, morning news on now...I'm just contemplating what to do first and where to start. I need to figure out when the turkey goes in and I'll work from there. Weather looks absolutely beautiful, high of 60 & sunny. I think a long ramble w/ the pups around the farm may also be in the cards later today.
Welp, best get to it. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Had a good day yesterday.

An uncle and two aunts (all visiting at MIL's from out of state) came over to bake pies. It was nice to get some quiet time to visit with them before there are a couple dozen people at MIL's today.

And DS is home!!!!! He had to work late yesterday, so drove in the middle of the night to avoid traffic and will be sleeping late, but he's here. :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to my Quacker Family. I hope everyone has a day filled with family, love, good food, and of course thanks for all we have been given.
Don decided he wants to eat at 2 instead of 5 today, so I am off to get the turkey prepped and in the oven soon. I use a cooking bag so it will only take 2 1/4 hours. I have to get the stuffing made so I can reheat it with the turkey, and prep all the veggies

Love to all of you

Happy turkey day to y'all!

Didn't get my lazy bones out of bed this am until 8. Got the Pillsbury orange rolls and coffee made first thing.

Went to rinse the brine off the turkey and found that it hadn't finished thawing on the back side! Left it under running water for 20 minutes while I set up the pan (celery, onions, herbs, chicken broth, pepper under the grate, for the gravy), and then dried it off. Wanted to let it sit for a few hours this morning, so that the skin would dry, but getting up late and it still being a little icy put the brakes on that. So, dried it off with a bunch of paper towels; rubbed the skin and meat down with lots of herbed butter (sage, thyme, pepper, salt) and filled the cavity with fresh thyme, rosemary and sage. Plopped it breast down, so that the back side can finish cooking, lowered the oven temp to 325, and popped it in.

I scrubbed the sweet potatoes, wrapped them in foil, and popped them in the oven too, to start roasting, and got the cranberry relish made and in the fridge to chill. I made the cornbread for the dressing yesterday, and the pecan pie and whipped cream too. (It came out sooo good. I used Buffalo Trace for the crust and pie, and put a little in the whipped cream too. Yes, we got into last night, lol.)

I'm off to clean out the cooler (in the shower) as the brine bag leaked >:(, clean the shower, then take a shower. After that, I need to get the veggie tray done; put it out (which serves as the veg for our meal; we'd rather eat fresh veg than cooked, so....🤷‍♀️) along with the dips, crackers, meat and cheese trays, and flip the turkey. Once the bird is done, then I need to cook the sausage and veg for the dressing, put it in the oven, do the rolls (got brown and serve rolls this year), and mashed potatoes and gravy to make. Figure it'll be done by 1pm. Food all put away and kitchen cleaned by 2pm, then I can do nothing the rest of the day!

Reading what you all are doing makes me thankful that I am not cooking today.

Cranberry relish made yesterday. Apple upside down cake in the oven. Things are set up to throw green bean casserole together.

For tomorrow, brownies made. All I have to do tomorrow is start the stew, I'll cut the veggies tonight, and bake a pumpkin pie.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm soon going to my friend's home with a bottle of wine and a tray of homemade desserts - brownie bites and an apple torte. Apple torte is shortbread crust, brushed with raspberry jam, cream cheese mixture, and apple wedges dipped in sugar and cinnamon and then baked. It's delicious!

Hope all are doing well!

Afternoon thread save. 🙏each of you are having a blessed day. Dad and I are so thankful to God always, of course, and in all ways. We are enjoying a lovely Thanksgiving. We did bake cookies this morning which were tasty. Tomorrow he will donate the majority of them in some way that I pray brings extra joy and cheer, reminder that whoever is not alone. Have any of you watched the Christmas parade yet? I know it's available online. I would rather try and see Santa on the TV. It's not on until 1pm here. I'm thinking to start checking around 2:30. I will start on some Christmas cards, and we will watch some other TV a little later, too. We will also do some online searching. Wishing each of you a wonderful and warm rest of the day.

Give Thanks Hymn is one of my favorites that always stirs up in my heart extra on Thanksgiving. How blessed we are.

🐥❤️

Dinner and clean up is all done here. It was all delicous, but I am exhausted. Going to soak in a very hot tub for at least half an hour. Don is watching football, and napping at the same time, lol. I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving.
