Just taking a small break. In our division of labor, DH is doing floors and I am doing the dusting and bathrooms. I only have the living room and family rooms left to dust and he only has the kitchen floor to mop. He is currently taking the old grill to metal recycling.

Back to work.

Speaking of fosters to forever homes - how is Grady doing?
Grady is doing really well, thanks for asking! I was looking through his pictures since we first got him last weekend. He was so scared his ears were literally pinned back to the side of his head the whole ride home from the rescue. Day by day, they’ve come up, and he’s more relaxed. We’re not 100% yet, of course, but I think with time, he’ll come out of his shell. I wish we knew more about his background which would help me focus his training. I haven’t worked with him yet, I figure he needs a week or so just to settle in, then we can start with that. He doesn’t seem to know basic commands. I’m sensing he wants to please, so it should go pretty well. We think he’s likely younger than they said he was. He has really taken to DS, but enjoys all of us, too. He was a little anxious last night and had difficulty settling, so I grabbed a coffee at Dunkin’ early this morning and took them out for some nice exercise. Sun was just coming up so I was able to also stop for some photo opportunities, as well, which was fun. Both have been passed out since we’ve been back, lol.

Really proud of Toto, he’s been patient and welcoming. He’s been the king for a long time! 🤣

Let me know if there’s anything I can help you with with the medical foster. I like that sort of thing.

I wouldn’t surprise me if he has a little virus/kennel cough after his journey up here with so many other dogs last week. DD thought she heard a little cough one night. So I don’t think he’s feeling fully himself yet. Did I mention he’d been heartworm positive, so he’s been through recent treatment for that, too. Poor guy has been through a lot… But he is very affectionate and we love him already! 🥰

is Voltaren a prescription? I do not like to take pain meds of any kind but I have been in so much pain with my knee that I need to do something. Rolling over in bed causes so much pain that it will jolt me out of a dead sleep.

No it is over the counter and listed as arthritis medication. I bought a tiny tube at CVS to try for $5.99 and used a coupon to get it down to $3.48.

Now that I know it works for me, I will buy the super duper big package at Costco for $35.99. It comes with 3 tubes so if I actually get to no longer needing it I can probably pass it on.

I very rarely even take a tylenol. But then I'm also rarely hurting or unwell, unless I've injured myself.

Its still cloudy and 68 out, but feels nice. All errands and grocery shopping done, gassed up the car (4.46 a gallon), we only needed 5 gallons to fill it, we don't drive much, lol

Wanna guess how ticked off I am right now? Mr L doesn't want to hear me complain, so anyone who wants to read this will hear my venting! TIA!

I called Outdoor Power,,asking when the riding mowers are coming in since I was told on 5/13 that they would be in within a week..that I literally went in the next day and looked at it and talked to 'Jamie" who had called me. That when I got home, I called her and she said I will write up the order,,you just have to come in and pay for it as soon as it comes in. This guy (who is one of the managers) says we haven't gotten any in since about 3 weeks ago. That they don't even make it off the truck before they are claimed. I said well I was told I was #3 on the list, and I was never called. When I went in to look at it that Saturday, she told me I was first on the list. He said I am confused, we don't go by lists..and I repeat we haven't gotten any in in about 3 weeks. I said well I am not crazy, I know who I talked to and when (of course she is off on Wed.), and I literally saw her, can describe her, and I know what she told me. That's why I called, since it's been almost 2 weeks. He said maybe there was miscommunication..we got some mowers in..but bigger than the one you want. I said well she literally said to me when I was sitting on it..that is the one you are interested in and it will be in within a week. He checked and there is an open order under my name..but he can't even tell me where I am in the order list. I said well you just told me you have about 30 of them on order for people interested..so you do have some kind of list (because I swear that is the same voice I talked to every week for the last 2 months) and you told me I was #3. Now you tell me you got some in, but that I wasn't even called for those. And why would she be calling people and leaving messages saying 'if you are interested, please call us back',,and it was literally 5 minutes after that I called her back and spoke to her. Put in my order for the mower, the mulch kit, and delivery..Grrr...So now it may be Sept by the time I actually get one. He knew I wasn't happy, and I told him to have her call me tomorrow morning,,I want some clarification on this whole thing

Off to plant 2 kinds of cucumber seeds, and 7 kinds of summer and zucchini squash. --maybe that will calm me down. I may be Sept by the time I get a riding mower :(

@Pea-n-Me-- Grady is beautiful

Have a nice afternoon everyone

I saw a 'first ever' in my backyard around noon time. I was opening the back door to bring coffee grounds to my organic heap.

I heard this screeching and squawking and there were 2 bald headed eagles. One chasing the other or so it appeared. Either they had something they were fighting over or were trying to mate, as one was sort of forced to the ground.

As they flew into my yard and out of it, they sort of got tangled around some pine trees and that's when they dropped down and when I realized they were eagles. I wasn't quick enough to get a picture as I didn't have my phone with me, but if I had been able to get a picture, both had full wingspread at one point, very close to the ground and maybe 30 feet away from me. It all happened so quickly! And the screeching! Then they were gone, flying off towards the trees across my neighbors yards. No one else seemed to be out, and I had to be amazed all alone.

Later, texting with my son, he says, Mom, how did you know they were eagles?

Have a nice afternoon everyone
I'm sorry this happened to you. It sort of almost happened to me when I was buying my mower. I paid online and bought through Home Depot, but the arrival and delivery was set up through the John Deere in Annapolis.

I got the delivery notifications and called the Annapolis store to be told there was nothing for me. Called the online Home Depot who followed the trail, called me back and got it delivered. But, my paper work all had somebody else's name written in and crossed out. I suspect the store was going to fill their own order with my machine but we caught them in time before they could get it off the lot, due to the notifications. When the guy arrived with my machine he was less than friendly. He did do the demo and then was gone, but I'm happy that's not my closest store.

Quick response before I am out and about.

@Judique I will look for it while shopping today. I know I need to see a doctor but my orthopedist retired during the pandemic. Another one I saw for 30 years. He did all but 1 of my knee surgeries and I just loved him. He will be another that is hard to replace.

@flyingdumbo127 - I started doing safaris when I first joined the DIS. They had picture scavenger hunts and I loved them because they got me out and thinking outside of the box. I tweaked that a bit and came up with Safaris for my granddaughter and I. Basically we go with a theme and follow that. We have done Lighthouses, flowers, graveyards and some Covered Bridges. This year we are hoping to expand to more Covered Bridges and graveyards, and I want to try and get more of the statues in the area. I know the graveyards sounds a bit odd but I have been doing ancestry work and am trying to get pics of g=family headstones. Plus there are some really neat cemeteries in my area. Now I have an idea for the next weekend. We have a famous cemetery with a lot of interesting people buried in it and headstones. Something to talk with her about today while we are out

We have fun together since we share a passion for photography and I love that my soon to be 18 year old grandchild loves to actively spend time with me. That in and of itself is truly a blessing. My goal when I had grandkids was to try and be like my Gram was for me. I adored her and we almost shared a birthday. This granddaughter is 9 days after my birthday so I think this year we will start a new tradition. I always go to Friendly's on August 5th to celebrate my Gram since we always chose that date as the day between. I think this year I will include my granddaughter and start telling her more stories about my Gram. Or maybe make sure we go to Shady Maple for breakfast because she does love it there.

Hope you all have a nice afternoon

I'd be interested in knowing the name if that cemetery if you are comfortable sharing it, we love touring old cemeteries and the wonderful history & statuary that can be found there.

I had a wonderful relationship with my paternal grandmother, we were like co conspirators in life and even got up to a spot of trouble a time or two. I spent a lot of time with her, sometimes I'd just fly down to Florida for a weekend to hang out even after I was married with 2 small kids...she was on vacation w/ us when she passed. Still think of her often and fondly. She was a great old broad. We had some adventures for sure! If I ever had grandkids I would very much want to emulate that relationship, and it's just really nice to read about your granddaughter & you sharing time together because you enjoy each others company so much. Really brings back warm memories for me.

That sounds like a wonderful tradition with your granddaughter, Taz! How fun and what a blessing you are to one another 🌸

Hug, Taz, my own paternal grandmother is who I often talk about in our thread. She was everything to me as was my grandfather. You, my friend, will one day make a lovely grandma yourself.

Just a big hug to both of you, Lynn, and Judique! Prayers you both have a better rest of the day and enjoy some extra calm!

Dad went to Honda this morning because his key fob over the last week hasn't consistently worked. He had gone there last Friday and was told his key was fine but that if he had further trouble, it would need a new battery. Sure enough his key did not work yesterday, thank goodness the spare key this time did work (the last time it didn't). He got his car at the end of July, 2019, a Fit which he loves :car: Poor dad drives back to Honda this morning and is told they don't have the right battery ins stock. He went to a Walgreens not far from the dealership, bought a battery and guess what? When Honda opened up his key to change the battery, they said it was the 🔑that is the problem. The cost of a new was "only" $200! :scared1: His 3 year warranty doesn't cover a new key. Thank God, the spare key works just fine! As dad said, there should be a way to get an old fashioned type of key! Prayers please that his spare key keeps working!

Prayers also dear friends please for my cousin Steve. He's been through the wringer. He's seen countless doctors none of whom can pinpoint why he's in so much pain. It sounded to me like possibly fibromyalgia...he's had health issues all of his life, poor guy. He and his wife Ruth have a strong faith and are hanging in there. Thank you all so much.

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon!

Thank you for that lovely verse.

Carol, hug, I'm glad your DH is helping you!
Watch out, you struck a nerve. I was just talking to DH about this. He wasn't helping me, we were working together. It's like when a dad says he is home babysitting his own child. I know you didn't mean anything by it but it just gets me going.

I know the graveyards sounds a bit odd but I have been doing ancestry work and am trying to get pics of family headstones. Plus there are some really neat cemeteries in my area.
Part of the reason we went to WV was to visit a cemetery.

I think this year I will include my granddaughter
What a great tradition to start.

All seeds are planted..and I just sat down and cried through the This is Us finale. I was fine until Deja was talking to Randall about the baby, and it started my tears, which lasted right through the end of the show. I am glad they did it the way they did..it was a fitting finale to a wonderful series.

Thanks! She's hydro - I'm doubting we will get her but if so I'll be eager to learn about it more. No seizures, no circles.
And that is one HANDSOME fella!

I'll be honest....that burned my butt more than once over the years. Especially the "is Daddy babysitting?' comments. No. He IS the parent (too). I hated that comment, although like you said - it's not intentional. Dads/husbands always seem to get that when it comes to housework & kids. I guess we all get pigeon holed now and then.

Dinner ended up being bacon & eggs for my husband once he got home. One the road for 12 hours so he was done in. He got home, dogs got him a beer and we took a wander around to shake off the day & the drive. Then came in, and made him a late supper while he wound down. Youngest arrives home later this evening (I've got to remember to put porch lights on before I got to bed) and tomorrow will be venison tenderloin w/ roasted baby potatoes.

Tomorrow I've got to go down to a jobsite mid-day down by the Delaware shore, Friday one of the pups has a vet appt. at 3. Might need to go down to FL sometime in the next 2 or so weeks, will decide on that in the next day or two. I might stay home and send youngest in my stead but we will see.

Have a good evening all -

@Bianca and Bernard so sorry for the loss of your sister.

@Pea-n-Me Grady has Bingo's coloring...:lovestruc Gosh we sure do miss him. DH definitely wants another Shepard when it's time to get another.

Fellow This is Us watchers...I haven't seen the finale yet either. It will probably be a day or two before I can handle it. Last week was rough for me, actually the last two weeks were so I'm waiting. I'm so sad it's ending though, such a great show. I've started rewatching Parenthood on Hulu... that's one that made me laugh and cry almost every episode too...I think it's the same people that did both shows.

Forgot quotes again but I've been reading.

Anyone else having problems posting sometimes?? When I hit post reply nothing happens, I'll refresh just in case like I was having to do before the board update but I think it may be my new phone. I'm having some trouble commenting on FB and Instagram too.

My heart is so heavy... I've been pretty down and sad lately and yesterday's tragedy just made it worse. 💔 I'll be seeing my niece and nephews this weekend so that will help light my mood some.

Super hot today... I'm not ready for this heat. LoL DD was giving me some extra money for the electric(why does this like weird to me??) bill to keep the AC low but said this year she'll cover the whole bill during the summer months so yippee for that. LoL She likes it much cooler than I'm usually willing to pay.

Hope you all have a good evening.

Last check in to wish everyone sweet dreams.

Easyas (and Carol, too) I am not married but it would absolutely not sit right by me to be told by someone my husband was baby-sitting our children. He sure is their second parent! Prayers for a safe arrival and good stay for your DS, Easyas.

:grouphug:AuntieMe3 and 🙏
