Good morning everyone. Of course, since my mower is being delivered today, it's raining outside. Its a nice light rain, perfect for the garden, but not perfect for them showing me how the mower works, just the basics. Then it gets covered and locked until I can use it. Have to call the handyman today and tell him that it's here, and he needs to come and finish the shed ramp so I can put it in there. I never fell asleep till almost 2 am, and woke at 7, so I already need a nap, lol.
Nothing else new going on here,,anyone have any exciting plans for the Memorial Day weekend?

Have a great morning all

Happy Friday! ☔

Was hoping to work in the yard this weekend, I just need for the yard to dry out. It's supposed to rain again today. I feel like I live in Seattle. I was hoping to go see the new Top Gun movie this weekend at the drive-in with my kids but that's a no-go. One will be out of town for a college graduation celebration and the other one is working tomorrow. I have to work Monday. The farmer's market opens tomorrow in my area. I was thinking of going up there to get some tomatoes and cucumbers.

Nothing else is going on with me, just working from home today. Hope everyone has a great day! :thumbsup2

Well the light rain turned into dumping down rain. I just called and asked them if they could deliver the mower Tuesday instead. They are only open till noon tomorrow and don't do deliveries, and they are closed on Monday. And it's supposed to be 91 on Tuesday and the lawn will need to be cut again by then anyhow. lol. I didn't think they would appreciate (and neither would I) standing in the pouring rain getting it off their trailerand setting it up. Weather says might clear up by noon, the other channel says severe storms all day, so I don't want to take any chances. I waited 3 months for it to come in, so I4 more days isn't going to make a whole lot of difference.

Morning. It poured last night; love hearing the rain on the roof again. Glad I got the yard done earlier in the week!

DH wanted us to go out of town this weekend, but I just can't get my heart into it. 💔 If I can work through my thoughts, then we'll head out tomorrow morning (since he has Monday off too). We're thinking about going to see the new Top Gun regardless.

A few of my great-nieces and nephews are doing walkouts today in their schools. It's making their grandparents (or would have, had they still been here) and some of their parents mad, but I'm in full support. ✊ I have actually only met two of my 40ish great nieces/nephews, but they've all had the word spread that if they need a safe space or support, DH and I, and our kids, are there for them. 🏳️‍🌈

Animal control popped by yesterday. They were given an address that doesn't exist between us and the house next to us (ex. we're at 2384 apple and neighbors are 2388 apple, ac was given 2386 apple), for dog neglect. I had to let them in and show them we don't have a dog (ours passed 5 years ago this month); and that the cats are very pampered. The house next to us is empty. The other side of us is a different street (as we're the corner lot) so my other neighbor is like 1847 pear; they have at least one dog, but it seems to be well taken care of, when I've seen iit in their yards. There's another neighbor catty-corner that had 3 or 4 dogs, which could be the house the complaint is aimed at; I haven't seen the dogs in a month (and every time I've seen them, they've been in crates on the driveway, while the garage is being hosed out), and the truck that parks there hasn't been there in 2+ weeks. I had to give ac a statement on all of that too.

Yesterday was pork and cabbage stir fry. Today we're having Philly style beef melt sandwiches with crispy potatoes. Tomorrow is beef enchilada bowls, with cauliflower rice; and Sunday is Cajun pork sausage stuffed peppers.

Not much else to report. I did locate some more of the Mexican street corn trail mix from Target...it is amazing...so I ordered 8 bags online. :rotfl2:DH took one to work today. The Neopolitan trail mix was good, except for the big pieces of rubbery strawberries. I like the Caramel Macchiato, Tex Mex, and the Espresso bean ones too. Pringles has a street corn chip too, very very good.

I ordered a few things from Belk; a Fiesta 'marmalade jar' to hold some sugar cubes in on the bar station; aFiesta mug with lemons on it; a Fiesta veggie bowl and serving bowls (all the Fiesta stuff was B1G1F); and two glass drink pitchers (for 50% off). Shopping therapy at it's best...I don't have to deal with people if I do it online! Hopefully the Belk stuff won't come in until Tuesday; if we go out of town, it'll certainly be here on Sunday, haha.

I'm going to go take a soak in some bubbles. Maybe that'll help clear my head a bit. Have a good day, all.

B&B, speaking of Belk, I hope to run by there sometime this morning for some shopping therapy. 😄

Lynn, glad you are another step closer to getting your lawn mower.

Today has risen sunny and bright. I opened the curtains up front and the sun shown through raising my spirits. Not that they needed raising mind you but opening the curtains and seeing the sunshine always does that. Today should be really nice like the last couple of days but the temps are rising and the weathermen predict back up into the 90's for the weekend.

When I went to see Downton Abby last Sunday I saw some trailers for movies that I might want to go see. Jurassic Park, Elvis, Top Gun, Bud Lightyear and Miss Harris Goes to Paris. The Miss Harris is based off of a book so I might try and read it first. I need to start watching movie trailers on line so I can see what's coming. I enjoy going to the movie especially now that our local theater has the reclining seats.

School is officially out for DD. She has two days of Continuing Ed next week but for the most part she is done. She transferred to another elementary school in the same district and will teach third grade Writing, History and Science. While she liked teaching kindergarten, she enjoys teaching 3rd grade. And she finally passed the test for her ESL Certification and gotten her GT certification so this will open some doors for her in the future.

Good morning. Raining lightly here but we have a flood and tornado warning or watch (I get them confused) for later.

Lynn, glad your lawnmower will be there soon.

The outer surface on my old bike seat is degrading. It kind of marked my pants so I ordered a new one from Amazon. DH and I went out and swapped them this morning. And I am drying by second load of clothes.

At DD's urging, I have been writing a script and rough draft to email and call my representatives and senator. No one needs an AR15. (I hope I don't get in trouble for that here.)

Grady is doing great.
So glad to hear that.

I am very sad
:grouphug:

anyone have any exciting plans for the Memorial Day weekend?
We are having DH's sister and cousins and our kids and grands all here Sunday for a cookout. 13 plus the 2 month old. Today I boiled eggs to devil tomorrow. Will bake cupcakes to frost tomorrow, and peel and cook potatoes for potato salad. I have already hosed the screen porch to get rid of the pollen.

I want to see that too.

Everyone have a nice weekend.

Good morning, everyone,

Lynn, I'm also glad your new mower is on the way.

Yikes, sounds 🌧️for many of you. Stay safe and dry!

Looking forward to a quiet weekend to come. Yesterday I found the attached picture. We're going to order it from CVS to put on the cupcake puzzle decoration for Sue. We'll laminate the puzzle onto a posterboard with clear contact paper. I will take a picture when it's done :)

Happy Friday friends.

I did end up ff'ing through a lot of Survivor..not really happy at who won at all,,but at least it wasn't the one I couldn't stand,,and that the one I didn't like at all, got voted off at last tribal. Also didn't like the fire bldg challenge. But at least like Carol said,,Wednesday nights are freed up. Survivor done, all the Chicago's had their finales last nite too..we watched 1 will watch the other 2 tonite.
I don't watch that one, but DH and I finally caught up on American Idol Wednesday night (I'd been working hard to avoid spoilers, and was happy with the ending) and I watched the season finale of Grey's Anatomy this morning (found that rather disappointing).

School is officially out for DD. She has two days of Continuing Ed next week but for the most part she is done. She transferred to another elementary school in the same district and will teach third grade Writing, History and Science. While she liked teaching kindergarten, she enjoys teaching 3rd grade. Good for her! Back when I was subbing, 3rd was one of my favorite grades as well. It's the perfect mix of "old enough for interesting academic work" and "still want to please their teachers".

I'd been kind of down this morning, but had a nice chat with my niece, and am feeling much better. The pool is coming along. (The filter is running now, and DH is adding chemicals per the instructions from where we got the water tested, but it already looks really good.) I was up way too late last night, but got a big clothes-sorting project with DS done. Plans for the weekend are just a cookout we're invited to on Sunday afternoon.

Happy Friday all....had a nice visit with Baby A and her momma yesterday. If you could send some good thoughts and prayers their way it would be much appreciated. She was sent to physical therapy by her Dr after momma mentioned a constant little head tilt to the left. They figured it night be a tight muscle that just needed some stretch. But since then her Dr is now concerned about some lack of development in her little neck, she's still pretty floppy for 3mo old. They think it might be nerve related and are sending her to a neurologist week after next. Momma is pretty concerned because the Dr told her to make sure they are really supporting her head so no more tummy time and avoid certain holds. She still has a strong grip with her fingers and can turn her head from side to side, she also has strong leg movement so all that sounds good. She is just the sweetest little baby....so many smiles and little coo-ing sounds. She slept in my arms while her momma and I visited...soo soo sweet.

My plans for the long weekend are to go visit my brother and his family on the central coast with my dad, my sister and niece. It's about a 4 hour drive from here. My sister is coming here tonight from San Diego and then we'll all head out early tomorrow morning coming back home on Monday. Since it's such a long drive we've started taking these trips over the long weekend so we have a couple days to visit, last time we went over Labor Day weekend.

Hope you all have a good rest of your day.

Cool and cloudy here today. Rained all day yesterday. I need to mow the lawn but it is still too damp. I went out to the garden and brought in rhubarb to do a little baking.

Dh has a sore throat and cough. He tested negative, but we will test again to be sure.

AuntieMe3.... sending prayers for the little one. Having worked in daycare, we saw this from time to time, and it always worked it's way out with time, praying that is the case.

Off to do some baking and then mowing hopefully. Being gone on vacation, we may have to bail it before long :rotfl2:

I used to live in South Texas and have visited San Antonio, the Hill country and many surrounding towns, including Uvalde. It's a long ago part of my life but not forgotten by any means. The events of the week made me cry as my memories came back.

I can't remember the last time something so sad actually made me cry.

Of course that is not enough of a response. It's just unbelieveable to think that at a time when I and others my age should be able to sit back and enjoy the last quarter of lives well lived, in safety and happiness, instead we have to worry that there is a threat on every corner for ourselves and the people we love.

When I look into the online faces, I see also the faces of my grandchildren, here and soon to come. I want the world to be safe for all of them.

So I will stand up and make my feelings known in a peaceful way, and that is probably more than I should say here.

:grouphug:AuntieMe3 and much prayer for precious Baby A and Mom, as well. Prayers you enjoy a safe and fun weekend!

:hug:Prayers continuing for you dear Dazed and your DH, too. LOL to the image of baled grass. Thank you for the smile :)

🌸Thank you always, Judique for the kind care you spread! You absolutely make a difference!

So I will stand up and make my feelings known in a peaceful way, and that is probably more than I should say here.

Mind the news reports coming out then, they will make you furious.

New pup had a vet appt. this afternoon, and so we are home from that and settled in for the long weekend. Still damp & gloomy here. No one seems terribly motivated to do anything in this weather. I summoned up the interest to toss in a load of laundry, dinner will be a simple grilled fish (snakehead youngest just caught) w/ rice. I have a mountain of laundry to fold but - blah, who feels like doing that?!?!

We had a downpour for about 15 minutes here today around 1:45, and some light rain after that, but no thunderstorms or anything like they thought we'd get. I was kinda looking forward to a nice thunderstorm on the porch. Oh well. Rest of the weekend looks to be pretty good all things considered. Sounds like the shore traffic is a absolute nightmare so I'm glad we are removed from that.

I'm going to light a fire under myself and try to get something done before dinner.

Lynn - enjoy that new mower!!! Happy mowing on Tuesday!

Hope everyone has a pleasant & healthy/happy weekend.

Are those weathermen nuts? They said storms at 1..then storms at 4..but it stopped raining a little after 12..and now its sunny, blue skies, white clouds and 75. I could have had them deliver it today
🙁
Oh well..now they say storms around 6,,so who knows..sure doesn't look like it. Yesterday I made a batch of homemade weedkiller and sprayed inside and outside the garden fence. That stuff worked fast. I just went out and pulled all the dead weeds and long pieces of grass from this long side and the side by the pita neighbor. The druggie son tried to strike up a conversation with me..but I gave one word answers and he finally gave up and just sat there making odd noises and siniging to himself..lol
Off to fix dinner..have a nice evening everyone

I'm sorry, Lynn. You just please have a cozy, good evening!

Easyas, you please take care, as well. Thank you for giving another dog a loving home.

CVS says the above 99th birthday image is too low a resolution to make a good photo. Normally I would not care for such a dark background of any image. The only reason I liked this choice was because Sue's vision is sadly almost non existent. The "99" was big and clear. I am praying she'd be able to make it out. I would appreciate some alternative photo finding help from my Quacker family. Thank you all in advance.

Quiet afternoon here. I just finished an enjoyable book that had Scripture which made me think of all of you🌷

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. (1 Peter 4:10 NKJV)

Each of you shares your light and that of Him inside you so kindly and beautifully well. Thank you, my friends, always.

Finished everything on my to do list for today.

So I will stand up and make my feelings known in a peaceful way, and that is probably more than I should say here.
Good for you. I actually made a contribution to the cause.

Mind the news reports coming out then, they will make you furious.
Yep!

no thunderstorms
We had some thunder here about 2 with some rain but not the storms I expected.

Turkey burgers and sweet potato for dinner.

AuntieMe3.... sending prayers for the little one. Having worked in daycare, we saw this from time to time, and it always worked it's way out with time, praying that is the case.
Thank you for this...surprisingly after all my 25 years in daycare we never had anything like this. We did have a baby with the little head tilt she was initially being seen for and we just helped with some exercises a PT gave her mom to share with us to do throughout the day. Anastasia's mom has had zero baby experience prior to being a mom so she likes to aks my opinion on stuff and I'm happy to be that person for her. One thing she told me yesterday was either one of the Drs or PT, can't remember what she said asked if the baby was clapping yet and said it's something she should be doing....I was like WHAT?? She's 3 months old...she won't start that until she's much older.

I hope your DHs continues to test negative.
