Good Monday morning! :sunny:

I'm on vacation from work this week. Staying home and getting lots of projects done. All the cabinet doors are down, will sand and start painting them today. I started on my coffee table, put the stain remover on Saturday night and I'll strip it this morning. It's going to be so nice outside all week. I'm going to do all the painting outside so I can get some sun.

Had a fun day on Friday for our Sister Day. One of my sister's couldn't make it, she tripped in her bathroom during the night and broke her toe. Looked really bad, no way could she have walked all day like we did. We all bought lots of things, mostly cute shirts in the little boutiques.

Yesterday for Mother's Day we all went to the Reds baseball game. Finally met Ds3's girlfriend. The Reds won and one of the players even hit a grand slam so that was exciting. Everyone came back to the house after the game and Ds1 and DIL gave me a canvas print of the boys together from the wedding. I love the picture.

Also found out that I'm going to be a grandma for the first time! Ds1 & DIL had a couple of Mickey onesies in the bag with the wedding picture so we're all excited for January.

Off to start my projects, wish me luck that I can get these done! Have a great day!! :flower1:

That’s wonderful news, @footballmouse! And I love the canvas picture! (I think I remember the pic unless it was a different one.) Great idea. I would love that, too. Good luck with your home projects this week!

@Judique thanks for sharing the pics and stories with us. Sounds like a really nice outing!

I had a nice day yesterday. Was a quiet day, I was tired. We grilled (marinated London Broil, baked potatoes, corn on the cob and salad, and DH made strawberry shortcake) and then took a meal and a plant over to my elderly friend. (I was a little upset after that seeing that her mobility has declined quite a bit. Just worried about that.) DD made me a nice new no-sew blanket as my old one was getting a bit long in the tooth (it’s Toto’s now), and gave me a new Yankee Candle Jelly Bean scent which she’d been searching for for a while. DS and DH got me some plants (geraniums) for the front stairs, and DH got me a nice bracelet. We went shopping for the new dog Saturday night, got him a bed and new bowl set. Planning to rest a bit today. 🐥

Snowy, wishes for a good trip for you. Praying that you find peace and be able to relax and enjoy your time with your friend.

Pea, the duck statue pictures are so cute! If I every make it up that way I will have to go see them.

Judique, I never knew that a lighthouse could be square. I've only seen pictures of the traditional kind. Thanks for posting it, I've learned something new.

Congratulations footballmouse!

Today is Lil Joe's 6th birthday! DD told me last night that she was not ready to have a six year old. We asked him what he wanted for dinner and he said pancakes.

Lou Lou is sick again. We're pretty sure its another ear infection.

@footballmouse Congrats on the new baby! What fun you will have. Have a nice week off.

@Judique Wonderful pictures. I love the blue heron. Birds are my favorite.

@Pea-n-Me Glad you could have a nice relaxing mother's day. You are so kind to be looking after your friend. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of your new dog.

I know my kids are relieved that I will be living in a nice place with people and dogs around me. I will be only 10 minutes from younger DS so they really like that. After losing Dad so suddenly I think they are a bit protective of mom. I love the Stone Zoo. It is an easy walk around and nice animals. I grew up going there and took my kids and grandkids there. I may see if I can get a family pass that we can all use.

I am really liking not having to go to work today and for the next 3 days and I could get used to it. I don't see retiring quite yet but like my DS says, if they tick me off at work I am able to retire. I need something to do at this point but once I am settled and it is more than a year since Chris passed I will reevaluate where I am and what I want to do. One step at a time.

Happy Monday 🐥

I love all the pictures and shares this morning, what a blessing to first come onto this morning :)

Congratulations Grandma Footballmouse! Excited for you :)

:grouphug:Snowymsom, and wishing you a joyful and peaceful trip! Have FUN. Sometimes a change of scene can be both rejuvenating and healing at the same time, which I pray you will experience on your adventure. I look forward to hearing about your trip and seeing pictures, too.

What great duck photos, Pea! I'd love to ride in a swan boat--probably travels at just my ride speed (think Small World)

Happy Birthday to Lil Joe, Kirby! I LOVE that he wants 🥞 for his dinner. He and I would get along just fine :D Prayers for Lou Lou. I am so sorry she is sick yet again :(

I hope you had a good Mother's Day, dear Frog!

I also love your pictures. Judique. Years ago on some trips, dad and I enjoyed checking out some lighthouses. I remember there was a really pretty one near a scenic bridge in either OR or WA.

Hug, Lynn, and prayers for Mr. L's appointment to go well and smooth.

PollyannaMom, extra hug to you and again congratulations to your son for finishing this semester especially with illness yet again. Big prayers for his continued health!

Love to all. I'll check back later.

@footballmouse Congrats grandma! Always have their favorite treats at home (or in your snack bag, if you aren't); it's ok as grandma to spoil them as much as you and the parents want; and let them learn to parent their way (unless it's something unsafe).

@Kirby happy bday to your little, and I hope the other feels better soon.

Dr Strange 2 is definitely darker than some of the other movies; not really for littles. There are some jump scares, but that's to be expected with a Raimi film, lol. There's a mid and an end credit scene, but honestly, the end scene is missable. We only found a couple of things on our shopping trip. Ended up at Panda Express for lunch, and had tamales for dinner.

I have a loaf of rye bread in the oven (first time trying this one); we'll see how it turns out. After it's done, I'll throw the corned beefs in the oven. Apparently I have a slow cook button on my oven, that works like a slow cooker! I'm excited to try it out. I'll do the potatoes, and cabbage later; I forgot to grab carrots, oh well. Ice cream for dessert, I think.

It's cooler today; in the mid 70s. I suppose I should be mowing, but I just don't want to, haha. I swept and mopped the whole house, cleaned the bathrooms, and am working on laundry.

Have a good day, y'all.

Mr L's appt went well, doesn't have to go back for 6 months, and his device check showed no 'incidents', which is good. I went down to the heart clinic to clear up a bill I was getting which I shouldn't have gotten (there is no charge to patients for any clinic bills, as they have a grant that pays for it), I found the whole place in an uproar. Seems the Dr for the clinic, was moved to the Pallative care floor this morning,,and none of them had any idea until last Friday. That leaves them with no Dr until they can quickly find one..and everyone was on their phones trying to cancel and reschedule appts. We are sad, as we both really liked her. I was surprised that she never mentioned it to me last Monday when I had my appt there, but I'm glad she graduated me and I don't have to go back unless I need them!

Lawn is all mowed nice and neat (sunny and 72), and laundry is done. I am going to take a cool shower and then relax. Burgers and pasta salad for dinner

Have a nice afternoon~~

I hope you did overall enjoy the movie, B&B. I am not a scare scene fan either in books or film! Good advice for Grandma Footballmouse, too :)

Praise God! What a great update, dear Lynn, thanks for sharing with us. Big prayers you do not need them indeed! It is odd you weren't told last week. I sure hope they do find a replacement sooner than asap!

Good to see you Easyas :)

Hope all of you are having a good afternoon :)

We just got back from Chemo, he is having trouble with the blood flow in his port, but we were told it can happen. Please pray that he can get his next chemo on Monday, then he has an off week when we will go on vacation. He has to maintain his counts to be able to get treatment.

I have some exciting news, DD is pregnant with her 3rd, She was a bit upset at first, baby was very unplanned. She will have a 3 1/2 year old, 20 month old, and a newborn in Nov. :scared: If you remember, her last one was born at home, they didn't make it to the hospital!! I said she better go as soon as she has a labor pain this time. DD was upset because of her Dad being sick ,but I told her life goes on.

We are grilling brats tonight. Then we will watch the Bucks game.

Happy Belated Mother's Day to all - what a privilege it is to be a mum!

I finished my weekend shadowbox project - I'm really happy with my Mickeys! Much better than keeping all the pins on a lanyard tucked away in a box. We still have a handful to take with us to WDW in August to trade - I'll have to make a Minne silhouette if we come home with enough pins.

I was looking at your signature. We were there the day before Hurricane Matthew when things shut down early. Went up from Fort Myers for the day and met international DISsers in the Poly for lunch then to DTD. It was weird. Also, we will be there in August this year also.
We seem to be on the same WDW schedule! We were really fortunate with Hurricane Matthew - our friends flew out the day before the park closed, and we drove to Port Orange, where my aunt and uncle live in a fly-in community. They were pretty blase about the whole thing, but we decided to head to the hardware store and get some plywood to board up the windows, and pick up supplies in case the power went out. Which it did, so we had a bit of an adventure, but thankfully the damage was less than expected. Let's hope for both our sakes that we don't get a repeat this August! Where are you staying?

Those are awesome, @Canadisney Fly! What exactly are we looking at - Disney pins on a silhouette Mickey cut out? What a unique project that will bring on a smile every time you pass them! :goodvibes

Hoping @Snowysmom made it up to NH safely and is settling in…

Praying that your DH will get his chemo, @dazedx3, so that you can take your scheduled trip. That happened to me before, too, during chemo, but I didn’t have a trip planned. They can usually unclog the port. Fingers crossed. 🤞🏻

Thank you for the ducklings. I love those. And the swan boats.

Pea, the duck statue pictures are so cute! If I every make it up that way I will have to go see them.

What great duck photos, Pea! I'd love to ride in a swan boat--probably travels at just my ride speed (think Small World)
Thought you guys might enjoy this specific to the history of the Swan Boats on the Public Garden, which arrived in 1877! And yes, @flyingdumbo127, they are definitely about the same speed as Small World - someone in the back is pedaling! 😝

We had Naan and leftover-French bread pizzas and salad for supper. Very good. Probably better to do those than order pizza out, even.

I mentioned yesterday that DH had gotten me a bracelet when we went out Saturday night because he’d ordered me one in the mail and it hadn’t come yet. (And I like that one a lot.) Well today it came in the mail and was really cute, came in a Disney package and it’s like a chain with Mickey ears and a heart that has my name on it. Very neat!

I slept today and did some work for work. Nice to have a lazy day. 🐣

:grouphug:🙏dear Dazed! Much extra love to you as well, my friend. Truly keeping you and your DH in prayer and absolutely that you are able to take your trip and have a wonderful time! :cheer2:Grandma!

Awesome job, Canadisney Fly!::MickeyMo Thank you or the picture. I'd love to see your Minnie box. Definitely prayers that you and Carol both have a safe and good trip in August!

Thanks, Pea. I'm ready to board that ship all right :boat: :hug:so glad you had a lazy day.

Sweet dreams to all.

I am having trouble keeping up here these days.

Sunday, after church, we went down to DD's house for a visit. She gave me an IOU to take me for a pedi. And a book of questions for me to fill out so she and have kids will have a history after I am gone.

Then DH and I were planning to go to a local brewery for dinner because they had a really good special. We got there and they were closing early because of an emergency so we were out of luck. Ended up at a Mexican restaurant I like. I had not one, but two, prickly pear margaritas.

Today I did 4 hours at the church. While there I got a lot done. Wrote out 4 notes I wanted to send and placed an online grocery order to pick up on the way home.

Finally a nice day so we cooked out for dinner to get practice with the new grill.

I am off to North Conway today.
Safe travels and enjoy yourself, and relax.

I am thinking of getting a pass to the Stone Zoo so I can just wander around
Sounds like a great idea.

So when you get together, instead of worrying about things with the house and such, you can concentrate more on just having a good time together.
I totally agree. When I used to go visit my mom I was always doing little things instead of just visiting.

Smith Island cake!
Love that cake.

He/she is in the high center.
I saw it!

found out that I'm going to be a grandma for the first time!
Congratulations! You will love it.

Judique, I never knew that a lighthouse could be square.
Look at this one. Thomas Point, also in Maryland.

DD is pregnant with her 3rd,
Congratulations to you too.

Where are you staying?
This is DD's trip taking her kids for the first time. She rented a VRBO in Windsor Hills. We are there August 19-26.

It is late and I need to get to bed. Good night.

We made it to North Conway. I actually did the drive myself. I am amazed. Standard Hampton inn, clean and spacious room. Today we will go to the center to look in shops and then Echo Lake.

Thinking of those who need prayers.

Have a good day.

Morning all!

Canadis, love the Mickey silhouettes! creative use of pins there.
Snowy, glad you made it! Enjoy your time away.

For those who buy cat food at Chewy: They had some Friskies canned in stock this morning. I have their site set to notify when certain cans come in stock, so I got an alert and popped on to check. Quite a few variety packs are back, along with single flavors.

So, yesterday, I made a loaf of rye bread (first time with rye at all, and this was a no knead bread). It was..ok; I didn't have molasses, so I subbed brown sugar (I know, I know, but it's what I had) and ground some caraway seeds to add to the flour to give it more of that flavor; the texture was the issue. Plus I 'overly browned' the bottom; still getting used to the new oven, and with the new recipe, it had me preheat my dutch oven in the oven as well. Next one will be better, I swear.

I discovered that my oven has a slow-cook feature, :cool1: so I decided to test that out on the corned beef. :idea:For whatever reason, my head put the corned beef in on low, at 1pm, about 5.5 hours before we wanted to eat...so last night, I ordered Five Guys, and finished cooking the corned beef at 10 pm. If I had it on hi temp slow cook, it probably would have been done in time, lol. I just wasn't paying attention, I guess, in the excitement of having a slow cook oven feature. :rotfl2:

I have some chicken thawed I have to cook today, so we will have that tonight, and then eat the corned beef, with cabbage and potatoes that I still need to cook, on Wednesday; and hash on Thursday. I might be making another loaf of bread tomorrow, lol. I have plenty of stuff (except molasses and caraway) to do it; but DH has to stop at Target CVS tonight to pick up his meds (gout flare up in his right hand, of all places; and some sleep meds, as he's having trouble sleeping), so he can pick up some stuff for me.

Also, the guy who fixed the leak in the fridge did something and now the freezer part won't go colder than 14 degrees, and it's not making ice. DH said he'll take a look this weekend, and if he can't figure it out, then I'll have to call the LL. I have the big freezer, so I moved the ice cream there, and everything else in the freezer is staying cold enough, but it's just not getting cold enough to make ice. (Manual said it has to be below 6 degrees to do so.)

I do have to go mow this morning; I'm waiting another hour or so, to let the dew dry off, but I have to do the front and the back yards today. The only other thing I need to get done today is taking out the trash and vacuuming the living room fug (all of 5 minutes, including moving the coffee table, lol).

Y'all have a good day!

Good morning everyone. Another very chilly start to what will be a 75 degree day. All I have left to do outside is weedwack the inside and outside of the veggie garden fence, and start the weeding and mulching out front. That will just leave the other side,,and only thing there I have to mulch around are the hostas. Then I just put mulch all along that side so it looks even with all the rest of the mulch around the house.

@Snowysmom --glad you made it safe to North Conway..now RELAX!
@Breezy_Carol --love that lighthouse picture
@Canadisney Fly --love those shadowbox pictures, would love to have something like that hanging on my walls!

Have a great day all~~
