Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I was born in 75....am I the youngster here?? :lmao: I am in our friend group.

Happy Wednesday....I drove home yesterday so I felt like I was on the road all day (it's a 7hour drive). DH, our friends and the other coworkers stayed for at least the rest of the week but maybe into next week. I was bummed I had to leave by myself but I am so happy to be home now. LOL I sleep so good in my own bed last night.

I'm getting my nails done today and need to make a few phone calls to set up some appointments for myself and one for my dad, where he'll need me to give him a ride home. I'll be able to enjoy being home until Friday when I got the road again to my sister's in San Diego, where I'll be staying with my niece a few days while her mom and dad go out of town.

I'm sure there won't be any Super Bowl watching with my niece... but I'll probably get some good snacks for me to munch on.

Its looking like our "pretend" grandbaby will be here next week. Mom is going in to be induced on Monday night....the guys are hoping for a 2-22-22 (on a Tuesday) birthday. 😆

@bobbiwoz I'm so sorry you hurt yourself and had to cancel your DW plans....I hope you're on the mend and able to reschedule soon.

@Pea-n-Me gosh your dinner looks soo yummy. I think we might need to try that.

@Bianca and Bernard glad all the house issues are getting taken care of and sounds like you're settling in nicely.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day.

Good afternoon everyone.

@Pea-n-Me That meal looked awesome. I love mushrooms. When I was very young, 2 or 3, my mom would make spaghetti and there were mushrooms in the sauce. Every time she turned her back, I stole her mushrooms. I put mushroom in everything I can. Thankfully my husband tolerates them or just gives me what he doesn't want.

We are moving ahead with the remodel. The ceilings are down and the electric is roughed in. The furniture is ordered and in stock so that will come the end of February or beginning of March.
This is the sofa and loveseat. They are power recliners and have built in USB ports on either end

And the end tables

I opted not to get a coffee table to open up the room a little. We also ordered replacement dining room chairs. They will match what we have now. I had a puppy that decided teething on them was appropriate, so I wanted to replace them for a while. They should be in around the same time as the rest of the furniture comes in so I am happy. My grandson is putting up the drywall this weekend. Once that is finished, we are renting a spray gun for the painting. That will make it go so much faster. The final part is getting a dumpster and ripping up the floors to lay the new floors. The original flooring was a decent hardwood, but 50-year-old house and a few leaks make me not care that he is ripping it up. I am having the local carpet company replace the carpeting on the stairs, the hallway upstairs and my bedroom. I am very apprehensive, I don't like change, but excited at the same time.

My grandson is doing OK with his knee. He is a little scared about the thought of surgery, but my daughter will be able to take the time off from work AND get paid so that is a plus. The MRI is tomorrow so we will know Friday what the results are. His team dedicated the last games of the season to him, and they have a surprise planned for him at tonight's game. They are bringing him onto the court, crutches and all to honor him and have him throw the ball in to start the game. The other team's coach is helping with this. When my daughter put the boys in this school I had serious reservations, although I knew it was her choice to make. What this school has done for him since he was injured has made me realize it was the best decision she ever made.

I do wish the dark cloud hovering around would become a little brighter. I took my husband to the foot doctor for his toe today. He has been fighting a diabetic ulcer on it. Unfortunately, we are now at a point where an amputation of the toe may need to be done. I am so angry at the place that made his shoes right now. I had to fight to get them made last year because of paperwork. Within about 2 months he had a sore on the toe. I took the shoes and they are supposed to have stretched it. This did absolutely nothing. I did call the shoe place today and the receptionist was very upset to learn where we are now. I told her that a shoe that was supposed to be custom molded to his foot should not have gotten us to this point and she agreed. She did say she was notifying the owner of the issue. I ordered a surgical shoe from Amazon on the doctor's advice. Jim needs to stay shoeless as much as is possible but the open toe of the surgical shoe should help. He's on an antibiotic to try and prevent any infection but I am nervous. After his last surgeries he had 2 strokes. I don't know how much more I can take. He is already telling me to plan an impromptu vacation to DIsney for just me. I can't right now although I do LOVE the Flower and Garden Festival. Maybe in the fall for the Food and Wine.

OK Now that the negativity is done. QOTD - We usually go to my son's house for the Super Bowl. He makes a taco dip, a Philly cheesesteak dip and I bring Buffalo Chicken Dip. We order chicken wings although I usually skip them. I don't like meat that is so close to a bone. Sometimes we have meatballs and hot roast beef or we order pizza with the wings. I usually order Fried Mushrooms for myself. If we are staying home I may make the Buffalo chicken dip anyway. I usually find out the day before since my son and husband talk all the time but forget to tell me what the plans are.

Hope everyone has a nice afternoon

We have full sun and 56 degrees. Shopping, errands, and putting everything away is done. Walmart had no chicken wings except frozen ones, and I wasn't paying almost $20 for a 3 lb bag. Aldi's had them advertised for $3.99 a lb in their circular..but the guy told me they didn't get any in. Pasta was still almost bare in Walmart, cat food was non existant including dry stuff. Frozen potato row was stocked back up, but still nowhere as full as it is normally. Cream cheese in the tubs was a little low in stock, but there were plenty of 'bricks' of it. Dinner tonite will be meatball subs with a salad and some fruit. I got some St Louis spareribs for the Super Bowl, and will make potato salad and coleslaw to go with it.

@Bianca and Bernard--glad you are getting all the house issues fixed.
@tazdev3225--I love the couch and the end table! Sorry to hear that your husband is still having foot issues, with the 'custom made' shoes ascerbating the problem instead of helping it :(

Have a nice afternoon all..I am going out to wash the car!

Big:grouphug:Taz and a ton of prayer for much :sunny:and healthier days ahead to all in your family!

Looks like AuntieMe3 and I both have many Quacker mothers 🐥

Sparkletts just delivered. We are so blessed to have such a nice delivery man. I thank you all, always, for your continued prayer for my dad and, of course, me, as well. You all know you sure are in my own heart and prayers always. Just heard from dad, and praise God, all went well with his appointment. No words ever how grateful I am to Him and His Good Mercy and Love.

I should be able to post a picture of our Happy Birthday Teddy Bear Puzzle later. We were shocked at the cost of larger picture frames--definitely not something we could afford to spend on a puzzle frame. FedEx is unable to run a puzzle because it's not completely flat, through their laminating machine. I remembered that my friend Judy laminates her own bookmarks with clear contact paper! We got some from Amazon yesterday and will try it out this afternoon. The $6 or so cost of that was such a cheaper price and something we can use for other homemade decorations, etc. for years to come. We'll either tape or paste (the puzzle had been glued with puzzle glue) the puzzle onto a piece of poster board for support and extra color and then seal it with the paper. Dad will bring it to FedEx just to have a free hole punched at the top so it can hang over a nail. There we will have our own personalized birthday decoration :)

Hugs and good afternoon wishes to all!

My children were born in the 1970’s :)

We will be rooting for the Bengals. We’ll have a pizza or Cheesesteaks.

We enjoyed the Jeopardy College Tournament and will watch it tonight.

So, Chocolate Day? DH bought me dark Chocolate covered Graham Crackers and gave them to me early. I love them!:lovestruc

Happy Thursday morning! :wave2:

Pretty boring night last night. Watched the Olympics and then switched over to The Amazing Race and then back to the Olympics when I went to bed.

My big dog Boomer must have missed me while I was at work yesterday. I always let them outside as soon as I get home but when I let them back in, he was all over me, running around and then back to me. I always ask them how their day was and what did they do but they never answer me. I can always tell when my other dog, Carly played during the day because her toys are laying around. Boomer isn't really into playing with toys, he's rather have his belly rubbed. :dogdance:

Glad to see that some of you will be cheering for our Bengals on Sunday. Hopefully the stadium will have more Bengal fans than Rams but that will be hard since they're playing in LA. Fingers crossed though.

Just a quick check in today, have a great day! :sunny:

Good morning all. It's warm out there this morning,,38 degrees, better than it has been! Going to be in the 50's again today. They said that yesterday and then we got to 60! Will be stopping at Sheetz and going through the car wash after Mr. L's pulmonary function test, if there isn't a line. I did it in the driveway yesterday and got some of the dirt off, but it needs to be cleaned well.
Watched Olympics again last nite, snowboarding and skating.

@footballmouse..I saw something on tv the other night that said the average price of one of those private box things was over $9000, that is just crazy!

Have a nice day everyone

Good Morning all!

I've been busy putting up a couple of shelves in my kitchen. Seems pretty straightforward until you are told that I brought home 3 sets, one at a time, before I was happy with the 'look'.

Eventually it all is to my satisfaction although today I have to go get a top shelf that won't actually hold anything, just make the project look neater, sort of like a cover. I also think it will reduce some dust on the prokeepers I am putting on the shelves. Of course itself will collect dust but I'll be able to clean that in one sweep rather than having to move things.

This was all done to create counter space for the new Ninja blender, away from the general work area. Two items now that are too heavy to be moving around to use. The blender and the Kitchenaid stand mixer. The mixer was in the corner under where the shelves now live. But, it was getting crowded over there and I like empty countertops in general. So, to make space the shelves were added. They were supposed to be part of the original kitchen design long ago, but at that time, all I could comprehend was dusty greasy items on open shelves, so I nixed them back then.

Two things now make them a better choice. One is that I'm retired with more time to dust. The other is an abundance of countertop appliances. We use our kitchen so it is not a showplace, but it does need to be functional. I got rid of the Kitchenaid toaster oven in favor of the Ninja foodi. Something had to go. We use the Foodi 4 or 5 times a week and hadn't used the oven since it came.

Hope all are doing well. When I get through a couple of projects I'll read back all that I've missed.

Good Morning 🐣

I'm wearing a T shirt! I may replace it with a long sleeve T shortly, it is amazing to not immediately need long sleeves early in the morning.

Snowysmom, I'm glad to hear you have an easier day, my friend, too! 🌸

A happy to see you :dogdance:friend is such a blessing, Footballmouse. Thank you for loving your canine crew and knowing how much they in turn love you!

Prayers, dear Lynn, for Mr. L's test to go well. Drive thru car washes are so handy! Pre plague, the only time I ever drove through one was when I lived up north. Down here, the car always went through a full serve (that I think is gone now due to Covid). Dad brings both of our cards on alternating months to a drive thru. On Tuesday, he even discovered there is one of those quarter operated vacuum machines. He said his car floor mats hadn't been vacuumed in almost 2 years! The machine definitely made a difference.

Wishing you the best with all your home projects, Judique! I'm glad the Foodi is so helpful to you! :)

Hug, Bobbiwoz, enjoy a visit with your neighbor and how nice that the two of you will be able to also share a treat. Enjoy, my friend.

Wishing all of you a good Thursday.

Good morning to each of you -

Not a whole lot going on here. I'm hitting the road in about 90 minutes to head to two jobsites for the remainder of the afternoon. Considering treating myself to my very own chainsaw so I've narrowed a few down via online shopping this morning, the ones we have are huge and cumbersome for someone with arms as short as mine to operate comfortably. I need a petite one:yay:!

Also considering adding another dog to the mix - our boy is at loose ends without a companion and it's starting to affect his behavior. He's also gotten supper clingy which isn't like him, and giving him some anxiety. We used to come in the house after being gone most of the day and he'd hardly lift his head if he was sleeping! We had promised ourselves we would be going smaller, but it's hard, and he needs a playmate. We looked at adopting a french mastiff but she was already spoken for - in our defense she was a good 30 lbs. lighter than our boy! I don't know what we are going to do. Whatever happens when it happens will be what is supposed to happen I suppose.

No idea what is for dinner this evening, probably leftovers.

Happy Thursday...

Nothing planned but cleaning today and I'm procrastinating now. :rolleyes1  Thinking I'll go pick up my niece tomorrow, bring her here for the weekend and then just take her back Sunday night for school on Monday. It's not going on a plane like her mom and dad are but she loves coming to visit here and hasn't been since Christmas.
