@Snowysmom,
@snappy, and
@dazedx3, I am so sorry to hear about your pets. It's such a heartbreaking decision and it never gets easier.
I do firmly believe that they will be waiting for us in Heaven. This is going to sound totally kooky, but years ago, I visited a local psychic (who would only ask your first name when making the appointment, and who would only take cash...basically ensuring that she really couldn't look up anything about you). One of the things she told me was that she could "see" an older gentleman - she thought he was my father - wearing glasses, and he had a big white dog with him; she said, "I'm getting a strange 'T' word around the dog." Well, I grew up with my glasses-wearing grandfather, and of all the dogs we had, his favorite was a white German shepherd named Tripoli. She passed away in 1979, so there is NO WAY this woman could have known about her. I just
know that she and my grandfather are together in Heaven
@Pea-n-Me, I will certainly add your patient to my prayer list
@apirateslifefor me...I heard you have had a LOL of rain , quit hogging it, we haven't had any in weeks. My ex sister in law lives in Chicopee..and said they have had at least a foot or more of rain this month? That's a lot for this time of year.
Ugh, you are more than welcome to it! Last summer, it didn't rain for 2 months straight...now we're getting swamped (literally). We drove past a pond/lake today and it was very high. While we're happy to get the rain after our lawn has been treated, it's too much and we have a lot of mushrooms now. I'd love to send some your way!
The smoke from the wildfires has made its way out here. When we left for Storytime this afternoon, there was a heavy haze in the air and it smelled like burned plastic/rubber. Our police department had to release a statement about it, explaining it and basically saying "there's nothing we can do about it, so stop calling us." It *is* kind of amazing that it can go across the country like this, without dissipating, that's for sure - not just the smoke, but the smell, too.
Yes, our library really has some wonderful programs, for both kids and adults. Josh started attending storytimes when he was in preschool. But the children's librarians have really gone above and beyond this summer. My mom and I both are probably going to write a letter to the library director about them. They definitely deserve recognition.
(I wonder if Miss Lisa recognizes me at all...she and I sort of worked together 30-some years ago at a video store, and then again when I graduated from college and worked for the police for a short time. I don't think we ever worked actually "together" on the same shift, but we'd overlap; she'd be leaving when I came in and we'd see each other in passing. She's never said anything so I don't think she remembers. I don't want to bring up the police job, as I only lasted a few weeks and I'm still embarrassed about it, 25 years later.)
We also have something called ERfC, Educational Resources for Children, and they are great, too. They're the ones doing the Wednesday evening shows. In the past, pre-COVID, they had an occasional "play lab" for the preschoolers. For an hour, you could go in and there were all different stations for building with the giant blue blocks, playing with kinetic sand, a music area, an art area, making sculptures with Magnatiles and the interlocking gears - it was really fun! 2 years ago in the summer, they hosted Playground Tuesdays, a 2-hour playgroup at different parks in town. We went to almost every single one. So many residents in our town are down on "things to do for kids," but I'm finding that there is almost too much!
