Good morning everyone. Another week, the last one in July, can you believe it??

Warm and muggy outside, 73 now going to 91. Still not a drop of rain in sight. Everything is going to be brown by the end of this week. :(

Restless night of sleep, waiting for the big meeting today to see what they decide. Hopefully it's that Mr L needs at least a few more days before being sent home, otherwise I don't know what I am going to do.

I have no plans for when I get home. Everything is done, except maybe a small load of laundry, so maybe I can get a nap in before dinner.

Have a great morning all, stay cool in this heat wave!

Mr L just called and apparently just as his breakfast got there,,a whole bunch of people decided to come in. The CRNP from the Drs office, the OT assessment person, the nurse etc. ..everyone but the Social Worker, who is the one who arranges everything. According to the Dr, they have stopped the antibiotic as his blood work shows there is no more infection. So I guess he medically cleared him. The OT person said he still needs more work, but wants me to come in early tomorrow morning to see what he can do as far as cleaning and dressing himself. (which I already know is less because he doesn't have the use of that arm.). He 'thinks' they are going to do another xray but he's not sure. The PT person wasn't in yet,,and I know they are going to say he needs more work. And then hubby wonders why I am upset and didn't get a lot of sleep last nite, worrying that they might discharge him tomorrow? He can't get out of the chair without help, because he can't put any weight on that arm,,which means he can't get out of a car, never mind climb a step to get into the house?? He said OT said they were going to 'reassess in a couple of days' which to me means it won't be tomorrow, as I am pretty sure PT is going to say..but once again it's --he said, she said, a 3'rd one says something else and yet a 4'th says something different. He said they are all going to come in and talk to me later when I get there. I don't want to get upset with any of them, but for Pete's sake, the broken elbow happened on their watch, on their high level care unit, not something that hubby or I did. That's what is slowing down his progress so much! And if it's Medicare saying he needs to go home, then I will be appealing it, and that will be my reasoning..it's the hospital's fault that someone injured his arm, so the hospital has to take responsibility for it. Grr..thanks for letting me vent yet again..it's been a long 3 weeks already, and today doesn't look like its going to be a fun one :(

DS is home!

I could tell he was already feeling a lot better when I got there at 1:00, and the test he'd had this morning was very helpful. He has some meds and a plan in place, and is sooooo happy to be home!

Oh good, I hope he stays on the mend and the medical folks can get him a proper diagnosis.

wanted to give a sneak peek on the flowers my friend and I are working on for a 50th anniversary party tomorrow

Beautiful!

The handrail is up, not perfect but its up.

Up is good, at least it's in workable condition. Aesthetics later:rolleyes: Hope it works well for his needs.

She doesn't like that my DH keeps up with her ex

We have a similar situation in our family - my SIL left her husband & 3 kids for another guy and then decided right there and then would be a good time to deliberately on accident get pregnant while still married to her husband. Class act - and her (first) husband was a decent, stand up good guy. We are still in touch with him, too.

Only a slight chance of showers :(

We had a 60% chance for storms overnight, said up to a inch or two. Nadda. It's so dry out....one of our slight hillsides is just crap dirt & stones and it the first place to just turn to dirt & dead grass in the dry heat. It's there already. I pre-filled my water tank this morning so I can be ready to go and water my trees when I get home later this evening.

We are back from the vet. When Jasper saw this vet on Friday Jasper was very stressed and anxious probably because he saw his regular vet the day before. 2 vets in 2 days were alot for him. The doctor thinks his stress and anxiety caused his digestive system to have issues.

Sounds similar to our current foster dog, her system was all out of wack for a few days due to stress and anxiety from the new situation. Our Great Dane is not right for about 24 hours after a quick trip to the vet, too. With him it manifests itself as extreme sleepyness. He needs a day of sleep to recover. And boarding him? He hardly eats when he is there and it takes days for him to recover. I hope Jasper is feeling himself sooner rather than later!

To my amazement, when I got home and turned the tv on, the Tivo was working as it should I called atlantic broadband anyhow, expecting the usual hour to hour and a half hold waiting for a tech,,was amazed to get one answer the phone almost immediately.

Good - I hate dealing with fouled up TV stuff! We have Atlantic Broadband, but just for our internet (use DirecTV for TV). Knock wood we haven't had any issues with it in the several years we've had it. We use it at the office, too.

Anyone watching the Olympics besides Allison Joy and me?

We are, when we can catch them.

Four of the five dresses I ordered arrived today. Took them to DD's house to try on. Still waiting for one and no decision yet.

Hope you find one that suits your needs. Next - shoes!:rotfl2:

today doesn't look like its going to be a fun one :(

Hang in there!

How's everyone doing? All is well here...foster dog still giving us a hassle but we've settled into a routine that is mostly working. She is officially up for adoption, although she won't be going anywhere until she's spayed, which will be August 5th. Not much else is going on....quiet next couple of weeks for us. We do have to go to Boston for a day & a half of meetings towards the end of August, and I booked us a quick few days down to Ft. Myers the week of Labor Day to check in w/ my parents. I refuse to call any trip where I am visiting family a 'vacation', so for me it's just a few days down to visit the folks:smooth: Also will probably pop down there to see them in late January, so booked a few nights at WL in early Feb. for a get away. That will be a nice disconnect in a place that is warmer than home. I love traveling in January & February, it's such a nice break in the doldrums of winter post holiday but pre spring is a real bummer of a time for me.
Eldest is bringing his new girlfriend over for a quick 24 hour visit this weekend - so my chore this week is to get the guest bedroom whipped into shape for her. Guilty of tossing a few things in there, then a few more....now it looks like a storage unit and not a spare bedroom! Not sure if we will go out for dinner or maybe do crabs that evening. Eldest and his young lady informed us last night that they will more than likely be eloping and having a casual party after the fact vs. a traditional wedding. I told him I hoped he was happy, all I wanted was to wear a nice dress and a fascinator at my sons wedding and he broke his mothers heart! Of course, I was laughing the whole time! We told them they should just do what they want and not to worry about meeting anyone's expectations. I might still get myself a fascinator- why not?!?!
Another promise of possible thunderstorms here this afternoon, but I think it's been said so much and not happened that I'm not putting a lot of stock into it.
I need to order firewood. We sometimes cut our own, and supplement with a cord or two we purchase, but this year has gotten away from us and the wood splitter continues it's slumber in one of the barns. So I'm going to order a few cords and call it a day. I actually like stacking firewood...maybe because I don't have to do it all the time- so that will be a chore to take care of sooner rather than later. We have three fireplaces in the house. A wood burning fireplace in the sitting room that we use almost daily in cold winter. A wood burning stove in basement that we were supposed to switch out for a pellet stove but not sure if we will get to it this season, and a gas fireplace in the living room of the in-law suite. It's not a old house, we built it in 2013/14. We have decent insulation and heating source, I just love a fire in the evening. Ok, the dogs do, too. I've never lived in a house without a fireplace!
We had enchiladas for dinner last night, plus my husband smoked a lot of fish (for future fish dip) and some venison roasts so I think tonight will be leftovers for sure. I've been able to get a lot of bell peppers in the freezer, and home to do the same with tomatoes. I usually stew them down a bit and then freeze it for use in the future. I'll cook down a lot of roasts & other cuts of meat in the stewed tomatoes, works pretty good.
Time for another cup of hot water - I replaced my second cup of coffee with hot water, it's helped get me over the habit of a hot cup of coffee on my desk!
Have a good morning everyone.

You sound like my SIL! She drinks coffee until it's gone and then puts water in the pot to heat it up. But she does it for a different reason. She is very cold natured, wears long sleeves, long pants in the summer, even when it's 90+. She might put on a pair of shorts if it hits over 105. Wears gloves when its 70 or colder. She's been that way all her life.

Speaking of weather, it hasn't officially hit 100 where I live but it was 97 yesterday with a heat index of 116. Our official temp is taken at DFW International Airport which is about an hour away so their temp doesn't always apply to us. Depending on which weather app you use we're supposed to hit close to 99 today. I feel sorry for all of those who have to work out in the heat, DH being one of them.

Lynn, I pray that you get your wish and your DH gets to stay in rehab longer.

Good morning.

Nadda. It's so dry out..

I guess we got all the rain and storms for Maryland last night. The thunder. lightning, and rain started about 9 and was still going on at midnight when I fell asleep. Was awakened not too long after that by an emergency alert on my phone telling of a flash flood watch. Everything is pretty wet in the yard and garden this morning,

Next - shoes!
I already have a pair of low heel strappy silver sandals so should be good to go there. :cool1:

Going to be another hot and humid day so AC went back on. We like the windows open whenever we can.

Next thing to do is see if I can upgrade our autotrain to a sleeper. The reason we booked the train to Florida instead of driving was to see how we do sitting up in coach but with this new Delta variant of the virus, not sure we want to sit in coach for 18 hours with strangers. Sleeper will add a lot of $$ to the trip but is fun and will be safer. First world problems.

I had three alerts - 12:30, 1:05 & 1:30 overnight myself. Of course, didn't see them till this morning! Send that rain south by a few miles!

Good Morning,

Good to see some extra posts today :)

Monday extra hugs and prayers to you Snowysmom and Lynn.

I don't much watch the Olympics either. When I was growing up I did like the swimming and diving. I was never very good at swimming but it often provided me a respite from not always happy times as a kid. I also thought it would be so cool to work somehow around water. Or maybe that was because I had been to Sea World a few times and thought some of the guys working there were handsome :)

We got some rain early this morning here, too.

Over the last two weeks, are any of you also (I hope not) receiving an increase in spam calls? We sure are! We have caller ID and a call block function on the landline but it only can store up to 100 numbers. After it reaches 100, we have to delete some numbers and start again. We rarely use the landline (Dad just likes to have it still. Not sure why since it's not a true landline in terms of how it's wired. When the power goes out, it goes out. It's not the old fashioned jack type of hard wiring but more modern cable/modem operated. We only answer known calls the same with on our cell phones. Anyone else (real, who we would like to talk to that is not a contact) can leave a message.

Have a good last week (amazing how time flies) of July, friends 🐥

Send some of it west towards me too!

I'm looking up rain dances now...strangely there is no dance called 'sitting on porch having a glass of wine complaining about lack of rain later this evening while eating a piece of toast because you couldn't be bothered to zap something in the microwave from the pile of leftovers in the fridge", which is where I feel my rain dance skills would best be showcased!

I'm driving my folks spare car this week, it hasn't seen the outside of the garage in months. I'll leave the windows down in order to temp the Fates! And I'll leave the laundry on the line!

Olympics - watched some the last 3 nights. I enjoy the swimming and diving competitions.

what a fun library, i love all the summer activities planned

fasicnator , that’s the cute little hats they were in Britain at weddings, right? The summer Kate and Will had their Royal wedding , my cousin got married and 6 of the girl cousins thought it would be fun and wore fancy hats

Just stopping in quickly with a Jasper update. Unfortunately we have to make the decision to put him to sleep. He has liver issues, an irregular heartbeat, and needs his gall bladder removed due to infection and inflammation. It is major surgery for any dog but more so for a 15-16 year old dog. He probably would not make it through the surgery. I am devastated. I love that little guy and will miss him so much. When we lost other dogs we still had our kids in the house to take care of. Now with the empty nest it is lonely and quiet. We have decided not to get another dog because I cannot go through this again and we are getting older and if anything happened to us what would happen to the dog. Please pray for Jasper that he has an easy entry into doggie heaven and that our other dogs and family members that have gone on before him will be there to greet him.

So sorry to hear this. We have decided against a surgical biopsy on our dog this year too, she is 14. It is so hard to say goodbye to our beloved pets.

Thank you Easyas and Carol for the laughs!

Those are the events I most used to enjoy, Sparkle. I forgot about watching last night. I hope you enjoyed 🏊‍♂️🏊‍♀️

❤Snowysmom and :grouphug: I am so sorry about Jasper, my friend. Know you did the kind thing and he's now with God at peace. Perhaps he and my Champ have already met. Big hugs and I am thinking of you!

:grouphug: to you both as well, Snappy and DazedX3. Truly heartbreaking to say goodbye to a furry friend.

Love to all of you!

@Snowysmom it made me so sad to come home and read this. But you are doing what is best for Jasper, even though it's heartbreaking. He knows he was loved, he loved in return, and that's all we can ask of our pets. I have lost furbabies in the past, and it's never easy. But Jasper will be up on the Rainbow Bridge, running free with all of our pets, free of pain, and with the memory of the wonderful people family he has had for so many years. :grouphug:

I am home..and it was a long day. Noone ever had a meeting with me as they said they would, but they are also not sending him home tomorrow. I guess their big powwow meeting about it is tomorrow, when they will decide how much more help he needs there before being discharged. I am allowed to go in at 7:30 tomorrow for 'caregiver training', but what they think they are going to teach me is beyond me. I have been helping him for 5 years since all of his cardiac issues,,the only difference now is the use of one arm. But I am going to humor them. I was able to get him up out of the wheelchair with the gait belt 2x by myself this morning, with OT just standing at his side. And I helped PT get him up this afternoon..he was tired out from morning OT. PT wanted him to ride the bike for 2 min, then rest, then 2 more minutes,,but hubby insisted that he keep going as long as he could. He did 15 min , which was 2.6 miles, and I think it's helping to strengthen his legs. So he is making some progress, not fast enough to suit him, but he can only do what he can do, as can I!

While in PT thunder started and it dumped down rain. Temp dropped from 90 to 70. When I left the sun was out and it was 91 again. Got home (a whopping 4 miles maybe from there), and we haven't had a drop of rain here. Bone dry.

Sister in law and niece have a 10:00 appt in Morgantown tomorrow, so will drop me off at the hospital when they leave home, and pick me up when they get back around 2:30 or 3.

Off to feed the furbabies, put a coat of water seal on the new handrail and find something for dinner..
