Brief report..

Vitals were all good when I left. He is very tired,,too many people in and out all day. And they wake you up every 2 hours to check you, so how is anyone supposed to get any rest? The cardiologist said that the Entresto could be causing his kidney numbers to be off, but they have already started coming back up,,so they think its the infection causing most of the problems. They are going to keep him off his heart meds and some of the others till the infection is gone..then start them back up one at a time and see what happens. They did an electrocardiogram this afternoon, but I'm sure we won't know the results of that till tomorrow. They said he might be there 3 more days,,which I kind of expected..but the leg is less red,,the marker line they drew up near his knee is now a lot farther away from the swelling than it was,,which means the swelling is going down. So prayers are being answered.

I have 2 sister and brother in laws that live close by (the others are in FL), and they are awesome. They say if I need anything, just say so,,I just say keep the prayers coming! Even Summer, his daughter has stepped up this time and is actually showing she cares. And for the boys to make that long drive from Ocean City to see him for just a little while, is going to make him so happy. It's a surprise so I didn't say a word!

One Sister in law picked me up at 2. She had to go to Walmart for a few things. She dropped me off at home 2 1/2 hours later. It was 99 degrees out,,and 84 degrees in Walmart..people were about passing out in there..no excuse for that. Hubby's sons are both coming up shortly, will stay till 8,,then pick me up in the morning and go back to say goodbye. Since only 2 can be in there at a time, I will wait in the cafeteria until they leave and then go up. I have to go put my groceries away, feed the cats, get the trash ready to go out, and find something to eat.

Have a nice evening all,,thanks for the continued support!

easyas123---- how long did your dog live? What were the symptoms like? Everyone says you will know when its time but that has not been my experience.

I lost my Brittany to jaw cancer. So sorry you re dealing with it. When we first noticed the tumor it was the size of a really small grape. I took her to the vet and he recommended we just keep an eye on her because the surgery would be disfiguring. It was very aggressive, as I was warned, and within 2 months of the initial diagnosis we had to say our goodbyes. There was no mistaking it was time as the tumor was the size of a lemon by then, her breath was putrid and she wasn't eating. We knew. She was only about 7 or 8 when she was diagnosed and passed away.

@lynxstch so glad to hear that your husband is doing better. It's wonderful that you have family to help.

Nice quiet day here. Hot as Hades so I am staying inside in the AC. Hope everyone in this new wave of heat is staying cool and hydrated.

I'm sorry it's so hot, Easyas. Enjoy more of your ice cream treats 🍨 that you got last week :)

Extra hug, DazedX3. Heartbreaking no matter what when a furry friend is at the end of their time with us here on earth :(

Always prayers for Jasper, Snowysmom. Wow how cool that you will get to meet more of your family.

I'm sorry, Taz Dev that you also lost a dog to cancer :(

Big hug, Lynn. I am so grateful your DH is resting and improving. I am very thankful to read you have so much loving support! Please, please, take help/a break time at home when available! Take care of yourself! Remember always, we care and are here.

Sadly I lost a grandpuppy to cancer a couple of years ago, again a very aggressive and fast moving cancer. Happily my other grandpuppy was diagnosed last year with a rare cancer. My SIL decided that they would try and treat him. My Link is a fighter. He not only is doing better we celebrated his getting up the stairs this week and almost getting on the kids bed. He was partially paralyzed for about 6 months and slowly the movement has come back. I am so happy about that because the kids had enough going on with their dad.

Summer just left and his sons just got there. I wish someone had taken a picture of the surprised look on hubby's face! I made myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (haven't had one in ages),,had a glass of chocolate milk, and a nectarine..so I am ready to sit and not move
Nite everyone,,catch you in the morning!

Well, not long at all I'm afraid. Freddy was a 2 year old boxer - first family dog after the kids were born, he was a Christmas gift. Took him in for a routine exam/vaccines and the vet noticed it. We hadn't noticed it, and Freddy hadn't slowed down. He was a super active dog and ran around the farm like he owned the place. Anyway, vet comes in and expressed his concern and wanted to take a x-ray, which he did. Turned out there was advanced bone cancer thru his jaw, so much so that the vet said any small hit to his jaw would shatter it. We had a long time relationship w/ another vet in Delaware who was our farm vet when we had the horse farm there, so went for a second opinion. Basically if it was in the leg they could have amputated and Freddy could have gone on to a long life potentially, but there was no way to remove the jaw in the condition it had been discovered in. So we were faced with a difficult decision, we had a active dog that now would end up with a shattered jaw with the simplest knock - even playing, which he did often with our sons who were then 4 & 5. Plus he ran all over the farm, jumping -up on trailers and tractors...well the vet said we should just take him home to wait for things to start to happen, which he estimated to be 1-2 weeks. But we couldn't keep the poor thing cooped up, he would have hated that. And I didn't want to spend the next 2 weeks waiting for him to start to fail - he couldn't tell me if he hurt or didn't feel good, and I didn't want him to suffer in any way. So we made the difficult decision. Damn we loved that dog...we learned how common bone cancer is in the breed, although jaw cancer is rare. Anyway, we went on to get another boxer, Dozer. He lived a very long and active life. He was much the same, fearless and perfect dog for two young boys. Lost him gosh, about 5 or so years ago. Knew he was slowing down, and one night he had a massive seizure. We lost him that morning, he was 13.
No symptoms, and we made the decision within 24 hours of the second opinion. Both vets said onset of symptoms was imminent and would be quick once they set in. Almost 20 years now, and still brings tears to my eyes

Wonderful! I'm sure he was thrilled to see everyone.

It's only 8:30 but I'm not long for my bed, I'm tired! Long day for me today , and longer one tomorrow, I need to be on the road by 5 AM. Outside all day, should be home by 6 or 7 PM. Once I am I've got a extra cold martini and slice of pizza with my name on it, waiting for me after a cold shower! Is it 5PM on Friday yet?!?!?!

Needed to share this. My aunt posted on Facebook that while running errands with her partner they stopped to get food to go from a restaurant. They noticed a small dog in the car next to their car. They called the police and were ready to break the window when they realized the door was unlocked. They put the poor little guy in their car with the AC going full blast to call him down. The owner came out about the same time the police arrived. She was given a ticket and will need to appear in court on neglect charges. I hope they throw the book at her. It was 96 here today with real feel closer to 100. The inside of that car had to be over 140 degrees. She saved that puppies life. There are angels on earth

@Kirby--thank you for the prayers. Your cherry wood smoked ribs sound so good, hope they were delicious. Can you tell me how you fix your zucchini in the air fryer when you have a chance? Squash is one of my favorite veggies, but I would love a new way to fix it
I'm so glad to hear your DH is doing better. Prayers continuing........ DD likes to cut them up into 1/2" to 1" pieces and cooks them 10 minutes and turns them over for another 10 minutes. She says using PAM or something similar is better than oil. She also puts salt, pepper and a little garlic before cooking them. She likes yellow squash better than zucchini is what we had.

I'm so glad your aunt helped that little dog! People just don't realize how hot a car can get inside. Maybe they should be locked up inside of a car one day just to experience what their little dog went through.

Well, we're off to Columbia, South Carolina tomorrow. Since DD's ex has Lil Joe for summer visitation, she gets a weekend or two with him during that time depending on how far he lives from her. This coming weekend is her first of two and she's been asking for over six weeks where she was to pick Lil Joe up. He would not tell her until this morning. This did not give her an opportunity to book a less expensive flight so we told her that we would drive with her. Lou Lou is so excited to be going to see Lil Joe she can hardly stand it. She has been talking about the trip all day. We're hoping that she will finally settle down to sleep. We just hope that the judge does more than spank his hand when they go to court.

I'll try to check in but if I'm not able to I'll see you in a week!

So glad to read that Mr lynxstch is doing better now! 👍🏻 And glad he’s getting good care and his kids were able to visit.

@PollyannaMom enjoy your time off! 📖 ☕ 🏡

So sorry to read about everyone’s sad dog stories. Have lost six myself, and it’s never easy. 😞 One of our GSDs had bone cancer but it was on his front leg. In those days, though (80s), they didn’t offer chemo or even amputation, just pain shots that I injected a couple of times a day. He was 12 so I knew nothing would really buy him much time anyway. So we spoiled him rotten for as long as we could, then had a vet come to the house and said our last goodbyes. The hardest situation for putting another dog to sleep was when it happened on the same day I started losing my hair from chemo. I don’t think I’ve ever cried harder than that, or for longer, any other time in my life. My last GSD collapsed in her wheels in the yard one night when I had half of DS’s baseball team in the pool. They were pretty horrified. DS carried her in the house and I stayed with her while she took her last breaths. As hard as it was, she sort of did me a favor as I knew I had to make the decision soon, and I was having a really hard time letting her go. I still can’t think of her without getting teary. (And her ashes remain on my bureau.) I don’t envy anyone in that position. (And @easyas123, what a sad story about the 2yr old Boxer!)

@dazedx3, so sorry to hear the news about your dog. The jaw is a tough place to have a tumor, as @TazDev alluded to. (Wow to that jaw cancer story, too AND the dog in hot car story. 🤬) It’s so much harder knowing when the right time is when it’s not the pet you love so much! I always read that when the pain is more than the pleasure in life, it’s time to start thinking about making that appt. It is so hard, though, Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers for helping you know when the time is right. Keep us updated.

@Snowysmom, glad Jasper is hanging in there. I sure hope you can find care for him so you can visit with your family.

@Kirby Have a great trip with the little ones.

I had a running around type day today. Both of my kids had worked overnight so nobody was up for taking a ride, they wanted to sleep, lol. (Can’t blame them.) In a way it was nice to be out by myself, with Toto. Our main trip was his yearly vet appt. My vet is still on Covid protocol, so they came out and took him in. I was a little scared when I saw the vet at my window as last time, she told me I had a sick little boy on my hands with a temp of 105 and listlessness. (Tick borne illness.) But she said no, he got a clean bill of health, and we wound up shooting the breeze for a little bit. Thankfully. He’ll be 8 this year and I worry things often start happening at this age. (Where in the world does the time go?) Not sure if any of you guys saw my post on Thundershirt but we had a tough time with him over the 4th with the fireworks and such. But he is better now.

Tonight we all (including bf and gf) went out for dinner as DH got home late and I hadn’t made it to the grocery store, but it was fun and it was nice to all be together again as it’s been several weeks as we had separate vacations. Before and afterward, we looked at pictures ano videos, and talked about our next adventures. Weather was warm, but not unbearable. Pretty sure temps are going up over the next couple of days into the 90s. Ugh. I don’t do well in the heat. I have rosacea and my face gets lobster-like and I can’t cool down. (I read something the other day that the rosacea causes a problem with the brain pathways that tell it to cool down or something like that. Makes sense.) Does anyone else have rosacea and can’t tolerate the heat?

You and I both. I was in bed by 9. Slept until 2 when my phone woke me with a text. Sister in law..and all the text said was either the number 1 or a capital I? lol Sorry about your furbaby,,that's sad. :( Afraid not..it's only half way though. Drive safely and make sure you stay hydrated in this heat. I too wish it were Friday, since they said he might come home that day!

That is awful. Your aunt was so kind to do that. How can pet owners be that irresponsible in heat like this??? Glad she has to go to court and gets a ticket, she deserves it. Someone should put her in a hot car in the sun for awhile and see how she likes it!

Have a great vacation,,stay safe, and let us know how you are doing when you can!

Good morning everyone. Its 79 degrees out, going into the mid to upper 90's again today. Cool down and maybe rain tomorrow..yeah!!

I am sorry to read about everyone's poor fubabies. I have only had cats, but I know how I feel when I lose one , so I can commiserate with all of you.

I had to laugh at the 'Mr Lynxstch' @Pea-n-Me, good way to start my day with a smile! Thanks

Stepsons are picking me up on their way to the hospital so they can see him for a few min and then head back home. The younger one (younger but still in his 40's), is leaving Saturday for a week in Colorado, so he can't stay longer. And both have to work again starting tomorrow. I will stay till 1:45. then have to be home for the cable guy. Have been waiting 2 weeks, and if I cancel it will be almost a month before they can get here to figure out the issue with the signal. On the tv, when you are watching anything on the local channels, the picture will start getting scrambled, then you get a black screen that says video unavailable. Then it will straighten out, and then do it again. I have 3 shows recorded that have it doing that so I will play them for him to see what he thinks. They think there may be a drop in the signal in the line going out to the street, but to me that would mean all channels would do it..and they don't. Guess I will find out between 2:30 and 4:30..bet its the latter,,I always seem to be at the tail end of appointments, lol

Have a great day all,,stay cool and hydrated if you are in this heat wave.

I have been abusing the cat don't believe me ask the cat. Mean human won't let the cat help himself to the leftover pizza that was on the table. (Luckily in a closed box). I decided to take advantage of the carry out special at Dominos tonight especially since I would be going right past (ok about 2/10 of a mile round trip through the shopping complex parking lot) on my way home from picking 16 year old up from work. I got a couple of large thin crust pizzas that were not only dinner tonight but will be eaten tomorrow as well.

Good morning.

Both DH and I have a cough, sore throat, and headache. We did get COVID tested even though fully vaccinated, just to be safe. Both negative. Both grandkids have colds and tested negative also, so we probably caught what they had. I texted DD because she was supposed to bring DGD up for swimming and wanted her to know how we felt. I was supposed to take DGD blueberry picking and DD, who took the day off work, was going to study for her exam to get her LCSW license. DD texted back they had to cancel anyway because both kids were throwing up over night. Bunch of unhealthy people in our households. DH and I were supposed to have a dance lesson today but I canceled it too.

Think I'll spend the day working on my puzzle and reading my book. Too hot to go for a walk.

Hugs to all of you have loved and cared for dogs especially since they are so dear to my heart but truly all of God's creatures! Truly you have made a difference in a life! :) I am always so sorry to read of any beloved family member in distress, so heartbreaking indeed particularly when the animal or person (a young child or older adult) isn't able to express what's wrong.

Prayers continuing Lynn for your DH. Prayers you and your DH feel better, Carol!

Big hug Kirby and have a safe trip. I absolutely pray seeing Joe and that he is safe and cared for brings all of you a ton of peace! I still do not understand how it can be allowed for a mother to not have communication with her young child :(

And Pea, always paws and prayers for Toto. I feel like he and Jasper have indeed become two furry (very) important canine members of our Quacker family! :dog2:

Wednesday good wishes to all of you!

Good morning, almost afternoon. It is hot outside, agaon.

My niece managed to hold on for 1 week. the twins were born by emergency c-section last night. They were small as was to be expected but not a bad size considering they were 2 months early. One was 2 lbs 6 oz and one was 2 lbs 4 oz. All reports are that they are doing OK. I hate the names but not my choice and I doubt I'll ever meet them. My one great nephew is and I haven't met him yet. I am the embarrassing poor Yankee relatives who worked for the city. At her wedding I wasn't even included in the "Family" pictures. I am a bit put out and do get tired of my mother being impressed by her husbands "money". She doesn't see how hurtful they are.

Oh well I am glad that the babies appear to be doing well. I have a foot drs. appointment today. I have a weird blister on the side of my foot that isn't going away so I decided it should probably get looked at. My one pair of sneakers seems to be the culprit so I will be getting new white sneakers when this heals a bit. I have found that I need to stick to New Balance because otherwise I have issues. Hopefully this isn't anything to be to worried about.

Have a great day and try and stay cool
