Yes, things like diuretics make the inside of the blood vessels dry over time, so BP can become quite low, especially when not eating or drinking regularly. And some of the cardiac meds that regulate rhythm and/or slow the heartbeat down to promote filling and such, can also lower the BP. It’t not unusual in this situation, and likely once he gets some fluid back in his veins, it should start coming back up again. 🤞🏻Hang in there. It sounds like he’s in good hands.

As am I , with all of you behind me!!! Thanks again for the insight!

Thanks Lorrie,, He actually got mad at me in the ER this morning for asking questions. He won't ask them..so if I don't..noone gets answers. I wanted to know exactly what antibiotics he was being given so I could look them up myself, and make sure there were no interactions with his meds. We have had issues with Drs in our hospital before,,and I learned quickly to speak my mind,,if I don't get results ,I ask for the patient advocate (who happens to be the sister of the lady who was Don's boss when he was working) and I have made it a habit to get names and phone numbers of all 'higher up's ' just in case! I have also had 2 'hospitalists' removed from his case anytime he goes in there, as I already had issues with them, and they didn't like it that I turned them in to their own supervisors. I already promised Mona and my sister in law I would eat. Going to cook a chicken,,then it will be leftovers and I won't have to cook for a few days,,so I add you to that promise list, lol! Thanks so much!

Your husband and mine must be related. Jim gets mad when I ask to many questions but I know he won't ask them and then it leads to disagreements. He swears he CAN ride roller coasters. Thankfully his new cardiologist is a sweetheart and defers to me. He actually does agree with me but calls me the "Boss". I'm glad you will be eating. It's hard to remember when we are alone and stressed. I will have to remember that - get names and phone numbers. I never thought of that, good advice. When Jim had the strokes the doctors seriously knew my routine and waited til I wasn't around so I couldn't question them. They really were not happy when I slammed them, the hospital and the care when I insisted he be moved to rehab of my choice, not theirs. We need to advocate for our loved ones.

I will keep you in my prayers for a quick recovery and his being home as soon as possible.

Thank you again..and if any Drs try to hide from me (and the one who messed up hubby's pacemaker always does) I make it a point to hunt them down, one way or the other,,lol!

Ok, I love this. Squeaky wheel gets the info, and if they don’t take 30 seconds to talk to you or pass on the info they know you’ll track them down!
And today I learned of such a position as patient advocate…didn’t know about that but thanks to you I know and I’ll remember I have that resource!
Take care

Summer just left and before she did, she had him call me. He seems a little forgetful today, its either the dehydration or the antibiotics. He sounded better on the phone to me than he did when I was there. He got mad at her and the nurse, because they wouldn't let him sit on the side of the bed to eat dinner..lol.. He refused to eat until I told him he better eat and better get better cause I want him home soon, and in one piece. So he ate some of the peaches, and a little of the mac and cheese. They are alternating the 2 antibiotics every 8 hours..using zosin and vancomycin. She sent me a picture of his leg. The nurse said it looked more swollen to her,,not to me..its a little redder, but a lot less swollen than it was when I left at 1:30! I ate a little , not much, just not hungry. Going to take a hot bath, try to watch a little of the Bachelorette and then go to bed. Going up at 9:30 tomorrow.. Summer said visiting hours start at 10..I said they start when I get there, let them tell me differently...

@easyas123..it's really helpful to get names. In our case..we used to be Western Maryland Health System. Now we are UPMC Maryland,, so all the head honcho's were replaced with new ones from UPMC, but the book they gave him today, has a directory of all the people's names and phone numbers..that will save me a lot of time and trouble trying to track them down if needed. Also there is a picture of the head of the hospital..turns out she is the one who was walking around greeting people during the covid vaccinations so I had already met her..lol

Oh..and as for the Dr who keeps trying to avoid me.. I nailed him right after the big debacle he caused. He never had anyone check the leads when he put in pacemakers..--DUH..he was the electrocardiologist and his only job is pacemakers and icd's,,and guess what caused my husband to literally die 2x (and thankfully be brought back). A bad lead..and he lied to my face the first time I asked him about it. Then he admitted he didn't check them. If they had..none of it would have happened. So after we had to go to Baltimore and have another great Dr take out the bad lead, replace it with a good one..it got infected, and they had to take the whole new pacemaker out, and wait for the hole to heal..and his pacemaker/icd is now on the right side of his chest instead of left , like normal. Anyhow..they sent hubby back to cardiac rehab unit to finish what he had started,,and Mr Know It All Dr, walked up to me and put his arm around my shoulder. I turned to him and almost smacked him. He knew darn well we could have had a malpractice suit against him with no problem..but all I I said to him was ..I have 1 question for you..did you learn anything from this? He said yes..I now check the leads every time we do a device check, and I check them when I put in a new pacemaker or replace an old one. I said that's all I ask, so some other patient doesn't have to go through the 6 months of Hell we went through because of you. He said he was terribly sorry,,but I still can't stand the guy to this day. If I go with hubby to device checks or cardiac visits..that Dr will look to see if I am there and stay far away,,lol! It is already listed on hubby's records that he is never to go near my husband again other than to say hello, how are you doing? When the pacemaker needs replacing in about 7-8 years..we will go to Baltimore to the Dr we both trust now!

Have a great evening all!

@lynxstch, just now saw the info on your DH, prayers lifting up!

Our 4th was fairly laid back. We went to church, communion is being passed now. They also offer the sealed packets for anyone that doesn't want the regular communion.

DH found a dent in the hood of his truck from the Saturday night fireworks next door.

Went to DH's brother's house in Cedar Hill a little over an hour away for dinner and to watch the neighborhood fireworks. We left about 10:45 and saw fireworks from the highway all the way home.

Today has been a lazy day. I woke up a little after 8:00 am. Did a load of laundry and paid some bills. DH smoked some ribs in cherry wood for dinner. I made mashed potatoes and DD air fryed some zuchinni. I sliced up a tomato and we were good.

Good morning all, I think it's morning? I slept, but not well. Woke up pretty much on the hour almost every hour. Even the cats know something isn't normal. Usually they run around the house at night like it's the Indy 500, last nite they all settled in their favorite sleeping spots and everyone was still there this morning. 2 of them slept on hubby's side of the bed next to me, which they never do. It's amazing to me how intuitive pets can be!

Going to be another hot day,,got to 96 yesterday, going to at least 93 today, left the ac on 72 all day so it was nice and cool when I got home. I don't usually leave it on overnite, but I did last nite as it's still 70 outside. The heck with the electric bill this month, lol!

@Kirby--thank you for the prayers. Your cherry wood smoked ribs sound so good, hope they were delicious. Can you tell me how you fix your zucchini in the air fryer when you have a chance? Squash is one of my favorite veggies, but I would love a new way to fix it

I am off to the hospital in a little while, gonna veg on the couch for a few min and ff through Bachelorette from last nite, I might have made it through about 15 min before I drifted off, lol

Have a nice day, thank you again for all the good wishes and prayers,,let's hope they all work

Good morning, everyone!

Still on an odd schedule here, between coming back from vacation and adjusting to summer timetables.

The cats still seems to think they need to wake me up for work (I'd insert the laugh smilie, except it really wasn't funny at 5:00am) and it's light so early they're confused even about when that would have been.

I did get up to keep them from waking DH too, but went back to sleep on the couch for a while instead of feeding them right away. - I'm trying to get them in the habit of a slightly later morning routine.

I'm outside now with the second one to have her morning walk.

I hope your DH is doing better today, Lynn!

Good Morning to all with a hug :)

Much continued prayer on your DH, dear Lynn! Pets really do just know exactly when most they are needed.

Kirby, so good to hear more shares of church operating closer to normal. I am very sorry about your DH's truck though. I am not a fireworks fan at all.

Hug, PollyannaMom, sorry about your early wake up call! Like kids, pets do tend to keep a routine for better or worse. Get some rest!

Frog, so good to see you posting again this morning, welcome once more.

Happy Tuesday to all 🐥

Just a brief update for now to say he is doing much better..vitals all up and almost back to normal. The cellulitis infection is strep so they changed to a more specific antibiotic. He is eating more, teasing the pretty nurses and grumbling at others, so I know he feels better. More later from home. Thank you all for your continued support!

Sorry, friends , I haven't been posting for quite awhile, not sure why? Just haven't felt like being social, dealing with some emotions. I have been popping in from time to time and keeping track of the news.

lynxstch-- many prayers for your DH, he is so lucky to have you in his corner. Glad to see he is on the mend.

Our Ds is in town -, haven't seen him in about 2 years. I was in tears when I first saw him. The whole family will be in town this coming weekend. Thankfully it will be cooler.

We just found out our dog most likely has jaw cancer :sad: I guess everyone in my house has to get cancer this year!!

Good afternoon.

Lynn, glad your husband is getting the right treatment and is improving. My only words of wisdom are take help that is offered. Often people really want to be able to do something for someone, so if they offer, take them up on it.

@dazedx3, you do sound like ups and downs are going on. :thumbsup2 for DS coming home but :sad1: for your pup.

Had DGD here for swimming this morning then watched her for an hour and took her to her mom at work. DH and I went to lunch with a couple we met on the DIS many years ago. They were traveling from a weekend away passing through our area so stopped for lunch. It was a nice meeting.

Hot here but to be expected for summer in July.

Excellent News!

Oh, I'm so so sorry. We lost a dog to cancer in the jaw. It's just not fair.

Welp - I picked a bad two days to spend outside - outside most of today, and I'll be outside from 6:45 until about 4 tomorrow afternoon! Good think I love heat, cause last I checked we are looking at 97 degrees and all the humidity Mother Nature can muster!

@dazedx3 Sorry about your dog. It is tough when our furry family members get sick. Sending prayers for you and your pup.

@lynxstch Good news about your DH. I hope he keeps improving and gets home soon.

We had a quiet day yesterday. I did some stuff around the house and then we went out for lunch. Supper was cookout leftovers.

Jasper will be going back to the vet soon to have a test for dry eye. The goopiness around his eyes may be due to that and not allergies. One more med to add to his list. He is slowing down a bit more but still can have a bit of feistiness. I want him to be comfortable. He is estimated to be 16 years old so nothing major will be done but eye drops should be manageable, I hope. So far the COPD, high blood pressure, and kidney issues have been managed with meds. I have the opportunity to go to Colorado to meet some of my birth family. Unfortunately the kennel I trust with Jasper's care will not take new reservations until Sept as they are still short staffed. The trip would be over Labor Day weekend. I am disappointed but my half sister who I have met understands. I keep hoping and praying that the kennel can find some good help for my selfish reason as well as for their business. We will do a zoom meeting if I can't get out there. Maybe I can get there later in the year.

Happy Tuesday, virtual Monday at work for me! LOL!
