Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I got my shot. I have to give kudos to the Cecil County Health Department. They seem organized, do scheduling by email, no line to speak of at the site today, and I have my appointment for the second.

And after, I treated myself to my once-a-year Dunkin' brownie batter donut but will save for my nighttime treat.

At the moment the sun is out.
Aldi's was pretty busy, but 3 cashiers got the lines down very quickly. Walmart was busy, but not packed..there was NO canned cat food on the shelves, except for the expensive little cans of Fancy Feast. I have too many to feed to buy that stuff. I have never seen it that bare. Even the Friskies variety packs were gone. There was probably 150 boxes of cat litter, and plenty of dry food. I went through an empty U Scan and as I walked out the front door..a swarm of people came flooding into the store, they got crowded fast! Went to Martins, (Giant), same thing..hardly any cat food. Got the last 4 cans of friskies, 2 3/packs of 9 lives, and 3 big cans of their 'companion' brand..never tried it, but if the cats are hungry enough they will eat it.

Stopped at Bath and Body Works and got my free coupon item,,got a Thousand Wishes bath gel,,and used the $6 fragrance coupon to get the same scent. Also used the 20% off coupon , so it cost me a whopping $5.94 for everything,,lol..

Have a good afternoon,,I am off to put the car cover on,,just in case. Weather Channel just showed us in the 8-12" range..so someone's forecast is way off ! I am also going to place a Chewy order as soon as I put the car cover on

And that Goodluck dog thing just popped up..again :(

wow- my barn cats would be jealous! They get dry cat food only, to supplement what they catch. Sometimes they don't touch the stuff for a week or more, and sometimes they have a go and eat a lot! I have my suspicions that a racoon or? might be having a go on occasion as well!

Me, too. Not sure what is going on.

Yeah, we have a raccoon who thinks that I am supposed to feed it too..it sometimes sits right next to the outdoor cats and just eats, lol.

I notified webmaster Corey..he said he's looking into it..it's like chasing a dog..

That is so funny Lynxstch about the raccoon! He's a smart critter :) Thanks for looking after him along with all your true animals. Easyas, thank you also for caring for a big animal crew as well.

Many years ago when Champ (my dog) died, my dad had a friend living in an apartment with a couple trees growing outside his patio door. Now the patio wasn't private because anyone could walk down to it (toward the laundry room and garage) but George's sliding glass door and also the trees were a little further down. Anyway, we created a small memorial space for Champ out there. We planted some colorful impatiens and got a small white fence to put around it. It was peaceful. Over time, a squirrel started to pay its respects. George could watch it from inside his apartment. He'd sometimes leave shelled peanuts. The squirrel was quite polite as it never went into the garden area. It did, one time (I wish I had saved the photo) come right up to George's sliding glass door and look in, as if waiting for its peanuts!

Stay cozy, friends and have a good rest of the day!

according to my husband, who just got home...the dogs sacrificed a large container of cheese balls I left on the counter today

I wish I had a photo of this - you all will have to use your imaginations!

I meant to mention it this AM or last night - but forgot until all this talk of racoons!

So when husband got home, it would seem that there was NO evidence on any rugs or floors of cheese ball dust, however the very long gray & white nose of the culprit was covered in orange dust! Guilty as charged!

and...I have a further update on the bathroom situation at work. It would seem the placement of additional cleaning supplies - in this case clorox wipes - have gone a long way to helping the situation. We are still moving forward with the re model of the office and addition of new bathroom, but it's gotten a lot more tolerable. So thank you again to everyone who made suggestions and tossed ideas my way. Hopefully we were able to head off a very awkward conversation with an employee I'd really rather not make uncomfortable or loss, as she's quite good in her position.

LOL to your dog's orange dusted nose. When you said that , my mind went to the Cheetos commercial where everyone has orange dust on them when they turn the black light on. Your dog could be in the next commercial,,lol.

Glad your work bathroom situation is resolving itself on it's own, thanks to the addition of extra cleaning supplies!

So my beloved dog once ate half a birthday cake , non icing , luckily. I had made 2 - 8 inch circle pans of yellow cake and left them on the counter to cool. Then ran upstairs to finish packing. We were taking the kids to Great Wolf Lodge. Came downstairs to see one of the cakes on the floor and mostly eaten . So we just had a 1 layer instead of 2 layer cake.
thanks for reminding me of that memory and getting a little chuckle

yes, it is suppose to be extremely cold again for us this weekend too, -7 with windchill on Monday coming, so i plan to grab items at the store on Friday and hibernate the rest of the weekend with board games, books, and movies

:) That's a cute idea, Lynxstch for a starring role for Easyas' dog :D Reminds me of a friend with two dogs who seemed to go crazy for donuts. They would somehow know donuts were in the house and want to pounce on them. Friend told me this happened one time while she was watching America's Funniest home videos. She thought her dogs ought to try out.

I'm glad the dog did not get into the icing (possibly too rich for his system). Thank you for that extra smile, Sparkle. -7 sounds just awful, brrrrrrr. I hope you enjoy some fun at home games and books/TV.

Maybe should make this the QOTD : What funny/naughty thing has your pet done?

We got our two goldens when they were full grown, from a rescue. We had always had shelties before so leaving things on the counter was safe. (Can you see where this is going?) The first weekend we had these goldens, I had two chicken breasts in a pie plate on the counter marinating to grill. I left to check the grill and came back to two goldens saying "This house is great! Not only a nice family and beds, but all the chicken you can eat." I learned my lesson about leaving things on the counter.

My 3 words would be determined, calculating, and compassionate

As I write this just before 1:30 PM my time current conditions are
-3 which is also the predicted high with a predicted low of -16
feels like -21 with winds at 12 MPH from the NNE
Precipitation 41%, Humidity 68%, Wind Chill -21, Dew Point -11, Pressure 30.43 in HG and rising, UV index of 1 of 12 and a visibility of 10 miles.
Translation It is going to be cold with clear skies and bitter cold wind chill today but your chances of getting a sunburn on any exposed skin are none but remember that you are risking getting frost bite in 10 minutes on any exposed skin so choose your risk wisely. My plans keeping my happy hind end inside the house because nothing is worth going out not even going and getting a charger from city brew, DH will be wearing his insulated coveralls along with his heavy boots, and other winter gear designed to work out doors.

QOTD : What funny/naughty thing has your pet done?

Have had a fully cooked whole turkey swiped off the counter as it was cooling, and various items much like the cheese balls over the years. Have had two dogs, one still with us, who have no fear of equipment and would think of nothing of jumping up into a big piece of equipment and riding on it like they were born to do it.

As a kid I vividly recall the insurance guy coming to my dads office (on our farm property) and after coming out of the office finding a goose on his car. Goose then jumped off the car, and chased the insurance guy...no lie, the paperwork came back and the guy put down "guard goose on property" in area where he listed fencing and what not that kept the equipment secure!

Our Dane can not walk past anything plush. Every evening, once everyone is home, he will drag out his dog bed from our bedroom and put it on top of this dog bed in the sitting room, then he goes and gets his plush pillow. And his little plush blanket, and he makes a nest of sorts to spend the evening in front of the fire, until we go to bed then he drags his stuff back into the bedroom!

Jasper loves thin and trim deli turkey. He gets it after dinner plus I give it to him after his meds. One time we brought in the groceries and went back out to the car to get the rest. He found the turkey in one of the bags on the kitchen floor and helped himself. I guess he figured out he would take out the middle man and gobble it up himself. I had to laugh as he was so happy.

Glad to hear you got the vaccine Carol. I hope you don't have any reaction. It sounds like your state has it right. My state is in a state of confusion and incompetence. I am getting so frustrated. There are appointments available even with 75+ making their appointments. The governor will not open up appointments to 65+. Everyone over 65 and those with 2 or more comorbidities are supposed to be done by the end of March but that is highly unlikely. Then there are 2 more groups before the general population can be eligible. Doctors are complaining, the legislature is complaining, and those of us waiting are complaining. The more we complain the more he digs in his heels. He has been like this during the whole pandemic. He likes his control a bit too much. He does have to realize that not everyone is going to get the vaccine either so he can't wait for all 400K+ to get the vaccine before moving on. I have been a bit down because I really want to get the vaccine so I can see my grandkids more especially my older son's boys. It is too cold to stay outside to see them so we can't do that now. I just want to get back to living a bit. Just had to vent. I am glad when I see that at least some people are getting the vaccine.

Today it is sunny for a change. It is still cold, in the 20s. Yesterday we got about 2 inches of powdery snow that was easy to move. We walked today and so did Jasper. As long as it is not slippery walking is possible.

Happy Wednesday. Only 2 more days to go until the weekend.

Love all the funny pet tales :) I know I have shared about Champ and his graham cracker escapade. Don't remember whether I also shared about his keen sense of when it was time for popcorn! When I was in college, Dad would often watch the 10pm news. He sometimes would have a late night snack at this time or some popcorn. Anyway, Champ went crazy for popcorn. Dad said Champ would literally sit in front of the TV blocking it, panting in doggie anticipation until Dad got the message and got moving to making microwave popcorn! When Champ could hear the kernels popping he'd do a little popcorn dance of joy--prancing around impatiently!

Aw, yay for Penelope, what a great idea! Prayers she and Lily bond quickly and well, Lynxstch!

Carol, I do hope you are feeling well post vaccine.

We have been upgraded to a winter storm warning with 3-6 inches of heavy snow predicted.

So far, thankfully, no reaction to the vaccine. My arm is a little sore, but not much at all. I am tired and have a little headache but I was also a little stressed about this and woke up at 4 this morning. Advil seems to keep it under control.

Have been watching the impeachment trial but it is starting to get to me.
