Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

My husband does the mail delivery for his meds. He is on many unfortunately, and they all seem to be filled on different time frames. One actually can only be filled monthly. We decided to go the mail route. I only have 2 so I make runs to CVS. Last time they filled my synthesis in a child proof bottle for no particular reason. Ugh! I couldn’t open it! I hate it when that happens! I had to ask for husband to help. I called and straightened it out. We changed Part D Medicare drug plans for 2021 and CVS had the new info which I was happy about. It was still a Silverscript CVS plan so maybe that was why but I was happy to handle it easily.
Prayers for ease of delivery and pick up to all counting on needed medications! Years ago, I did all that for my Grandma and it sure could be a challenge (in non plague times) to keep organized and on schedule.

I've started to watch Two Turtle Doves, will share about it after finishing.

I hope all of you are having a good Friday!

We also use CVS and signed up for Silverscript through Aetna for the first time starting in 2021. I just have to call CVS and give them the medicare and silverscript #'s and they will take care of the rest.

Still waiting for the mail to arrive. The tracking went from 9:45-1:45 to 'before 6:30' so the carriers must be slammed. And of course on the one day I am waiting for the gift cards to get here. We have lived here 17 1/2 years, and our mail has never been delivered this late :(

I still haven't baked anything, or decide if I am going to bake. Just made my final grocery list for tomorrow, and hubby managed to snag an eye Dr appt for Sunday His vision insurance from the job he just retired from runs out Dec 31. When he called yesterday, they said they were booking into Feb/March..and that they would put him on the cancellation list. Not 10 min later a girl called back. She used to work at the same place hubby did, saw his name on the computer, and said if he can be there Sunday at 12:30 she will have everything all set up in the computer and he can get his eyes checked.

Sun just popped out here, but its a cold 36. I started up the car and let it run for awhile..it hasn't been used since Monday. I am going to have to remember to do that all winter, as we don't go out that often anymore, lol
Have a nice night all!

Good afternoon.

We did errands today, all contact free. Went to library to pick up holds, then bank for ATM and deposit (Had to get in line twice), CFA for peppermint chocolate chip milkshakes, and then to the county administration building to drop off property tax payment.

I really liked A Christmas Cure last night
I watched and enjoyed that one too. Today I watched Christmas in Montana. Kellie Martin was in it.

our mail has never been delivered this late :(
Did you see the local news story on the Baltimore distribution center? Apparently it is a real mess.

DD took the kids for COVID tests. They are off isolation today per the pediatrician. Ten days since symptoms. DD and her husband have a couple more days. We are going down tomorrow to take their dog to her groomer appointment.

I almost said Happy Thursday everyone but then I was like wait, no...what day is it today?? :sad2: 🤦‍♀️

Happy Friday and quak-a-doodle-do...:lovestruc We are all feeling much better today. I haven't even heard DD cough at all today, although it seems to get worse as the day goes on so hopefully tonight she's still cough free. Last post I was saying how disappointed I was about not getting our second real tree. We literally called all over our area for a real tree and they were all sold out everywhere...independent tree stands, Home Depot, Lowe's, even the nurseries were out of live potted trees. I was so disappointed and missing the tree in our family where we sit every night. So I checked out Walmart online and found a 6ft $22 tree for store pickup. We had a friend pick it up for us and dropped off some homemade chicken soup and bread with it on the porch. Sooo thoughtful and nice of them. ❤ I put it up last night and OMG....it was so sad looking. :guilty::laughing: But after decorating it looks much better and I finally have all my happy colored lights in the family room but less than half our sentimental ornaments, not enough room for the rest. I feel so much more festive now. I've done a few order pickups from Target and a few things from Amazon. My friend also picked up a couple gifts for me from Costco so I am almost caught up with shopping without leaving the house. LoL

Hubby has also been going stir crazy so he put up the Christmas lights last night....lol.

Oh....and our neighbor brought us over a Kringle. We've never had one before and it was so good. Hubby is a bit obsessed with it and almost ate the whole thing by himself.

Hope you all have a great evening and a nice weekend.

Adding a pic of our 2nd tree...next year I'll stick it in the dining room. :lovestruc

Quackadoodle and Good Morning from me, too!

I also woke up early, was cold, took a while to fall back asleep but did. I'm thankful it's supposed to warm up into the 70's this weekend. AuntieMe3, prayers the nicer weather will help you feel better!

I really liked A Christmas Cure last night. It was about a family doctor in a small town who had been a staple in his town forever as doctor, friend, and confidant. He and his wife were ready for him to retire. Their son was finishing up high school. Their doctor was already a successful doctor of all places here in LA. The daughter came home for Christmas and ends up realizing what she wants is to continue to care and love for the people of her town so she takes over her dad's practice. Of course, their was a handsome, boyfriend soon to be fiance thrown in the mix!

Happy 1 week until Christmas!

That sounds cute - thanks for the recommendation! I just set it to tape when it re-airs (really early Wednesday morning - 4:00am on Hallmark)

Last time they filled my synthesis in a child proof bottle for no particular reason. Ugh! I couldn’t open it! I hate it when that happens!

That is annoying when you don't need it!

@AuntieMe3, so glad you found a tree! And how nice of your friends to leave soup too!

No--but our carrier was telling me about it the other day..that's probably where all our missing packages are sitting. Thankfully the mail carrier came at 4:30 and had the Amazon pkg for me with all the gift cards in it..that one was worrying me!

DD took the kids for COVID tests. They are off isolation today per the pediatrician. Ten days since symptoms

Thank goodness for the kids no longer having symptoms..hope the same is true for your DD and her hubby

Quackadoodle! I like that.

We had an adventurous day, but not in a good way. I had the day off and had some stores to go to. We went to Trader Joe's. DH fell on the way into the store. I was ahead of him so I didn't see it. It was a bit slippery and there was a large area with lots of rock salt pieces. He said the rock salt acted like ball bearings and he slipped on it. The worker who was counting people was very helpful and together we helped DH up off the ground. Luckily he isn't hurt. He does have a habit of not being careful so I don't know how much that was to blame. I keep telling him a fall is what is going to do him in. Then we got out of Trader Joe's and into our 17 1/2 year old minivan. It would not start. Just nothing. We called AAA and they sent out a technician to see if he could fix it before having to tow it. I called younger DS to see if he could pick me up so I could take the perishables home and come back with another car. He was able to thankfully. The tech couldn't start it so it had to be towed. The tow truck driver came and was able to start the car so DH drove it to our mechanic. I picked him up there. It was the starter and our bank account is quite a bit lighter. LOL! I told him the minivan is now only for Jasper rides. DH has been looking forward to our monthly pizza and he had one picked out at the Italian place we go to frequently. They are out of stock right now. I guess that means they don't have the toppings. DH is ready to call it a day or a week. Now he has to find a replacement pizza. He also went to the audiologist this week for a hearing evaluation. He tells me he hears just fine. Well, he doesn't. He has moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears. He will be the proud owner and wearer of 2 sparkling new hearing aids. We have to pay our deductible that we have left plus 10% and insurance picks up the rest. I told DH that after the holidays we need to stop the major purchases for a long while. Since all our big trips we canceled this year we did have extra so that helped. I feel fortunate for that. Well, tomorrow is another day.

I have to start baking prep and baking this weekend. I am making each DS a chocolate cream pie and some Christmas cookies. I am making DH and I a blueberry cobbler. I never made one before but it looks easy. I also make homemade granola as a treat this time of year. It is so good and is a nice addition to greek yogurt.

It is cold and the snow and ice are sticking around for awhile. Jasper missed his walk today because the road is slippery. He is not happy. Maybe it will be better tomorrow but more likely Sunday. The meds seem to helping his cough quite a bit so he is more comfortable and more feisty for an old man dog.

Happy Friday to all.

Thanks @PollyannaMom It was really nice of them. They are great friends to us. :lovestruc

Oh gosh...sorry you had such a tough morning. I hope your DH isn't too sore from his fall. Ouch.

I love your tree,,so bright and colorful...please do tell..what is a Kringle though? Never heard of them!

They are a Danish pastry, I think. LOL I had only ever heard of them from a Hallmark movie last year or the year before. I think she said she got it at Trader Joe's but this is the website for the place they are made in Wisconsin...
https://www.ohdanishbakery.com/everyday-kringle-favoritesWe got the almond kringle. 😋

We don't have a TJ's close so I'm not sure if they are a regular item there or just something special for the holidays.

I hope you enjoy that movie, PollyannaMom! :) I did finish watching Two Turtle Doves. Christmas Cure was MUCH better but than the other had some sweet moments to it. I would have preferred meeting Grandma Vera (whose house the grand daughter inherited) rather than hearing about her or her voice in recordings.

AuntieMe3, I sure hope you are feeling better!

Prayers for your DH, Snowysmom, I am so sorry about his fall :(

Oh and Lynxstch, I hope you get a milkshake treat soon!

Afternoon quackadoodle to all 🐥

what day is it today??
I ask that on a daily basis.

@AuntieMe3, the tree is joyful, And how nice to have good friends.

@Snowysmom , sounds like a rough day. Kind of par for the course this year.

I heated up hot dogs and canned baked beans, then cut celery and carrot sticks. DH was happy with a simple meal.

I am hiding from the kitchen now. He wants to make snickerdoodles himself and I can't watch. LOL

Man, y'all have all kinds of stuff going on. ((hugs)) to those who need it; prayers for those who need those as well.

I made a new soup recipe for us today...Pasta Fagioli, with some garlic bread. It came out pretty well, even though I was out of marjoram and accidentally added 2 cans of great northern beans (opened them instead of the white kidney, lol). DH said it was a keeper recipe, so hooray! It was enough for lunch today, leftovers for lunch tomorrow, and 2 bags frozen for 2 meals later on down the road!

I went to the store to get marjoram and milk...came out $200 poorer, with no marjoram. :rolleyes2 Publix had a pretty good sale going, and I did a bit of stock up on pantry items, and I also bought some $$ cheeses and salami for munching on.

DD#2 made it to Oki early this morning, and they are now quarantining in their new 7th floor tiny apartment. They had a rough week, with all the traveling (from San Diego to Seattle, then the flight to Japan, and then 2 more planes to get to Oki) :scared:DGS#2 was not excited by the end of the trip, but they got to see Mt Fuji, so that's one perk, haha. Missing them already.

DH and I went on another walk tonight, in the cold, almost 2 miles round trip. Unusual that I could handle it in the cold (cold and humidity make my joints ache) but I made it through. It is super cold (at least to those of us living in Florida, lol). BAck in the 30s tonight. 😰🥶:cold: If we had any humidity here, it would be cold enough for ❄

Quackadoodle to you all! I saw an ad on Facebook for a new Mighty Ducks movie. Don't know if that's what started all the quacking but I'm excited to see it. Quack! Quack! Quack!

Today was a gorgeous day! Sunny and in the 50's. It was a bit windy so it felt colder than yesterday which was in the 40's but next to no wind.

Took my next Covid test today. The line was only about 40 minutes long. Not too bad. Found out that a friend of my daughter's tested positive today. She teaches school and thinks that she might be two weeks into the virus. She says she thought is was just a cold but why didn't she go get tested before today?

It's a little bit sad around the house tonight. DGS was picked up by his dad for a ten day Christmas visitation. He needs time with his dad but we still miss him. Fortunately DGD is only two so she won't know that we're are postponing Christmas until he gets back. Time will pass fast........

@AuntieMe3 Kringle, yum! I lived a year in Wisconsin during HS and had it for the first time then. It's a delicious holiday treat!
Now that I've tried it, I'm going to want them every year and I'm even thinking of who I can gift them to next year. 😋

I am so thankful for our friends. We've never had friends that will literally drop everything to help us do something and of course we do the same for them. We've only known 7, maybe 8 years but it feels like we've known them forever. Love them. ❤

And I'm cracking up about you hiding from the kitchen.... I'm scared walking in there after hubby just makes a sandwich.

....and I also bought some $$ cheeses and salami for munching on.

Mmm....salami and cheese is my favorite snack. You reminded me I bought some salami and goat cheese before we got sick so I'm breaking out tomorrow.

I'm glad DD made it safe to Oki....Japan, over all, was hubby's favorite duty station while he was in the Marines but he LOVED Okinawa. He said the hospitality of the people who live there was like no comparison to any other place he went. He has always said the first chance we get, he wants to take me there. I hope they enjoy their time there but also that it goes quick so you don't miss them too much. Hugs.

Also......30s is cold anywhere but especially when you're not used to it. Its supposed to be 30 tonight here. Brrr....

Wow,,that one brought up a childhood memory. My mother made it once, and I do not like beans in any way , shape , or form. I refused to even taste it. She told me I had to sit there until my dish was empty. I sat there till midnite --she told me I fell asleep at the table. She finally relented and woke me up and told me to go to bed. Have never even wanted to try it again the rest of my life, everytime I see those 2 words, that same memory comes back to haunt me, lol!

Glad that they made it there safely. That was a long long trip for them.

Balmy 28 degrees out here right now (Western MD), going to a whopping 35 today

Good morning all. Going to be another cold, 35 degree day, but no precipitation in site. Going to be hitting Aldi's and Walmart in a little bit. Last few groceries to pick up for the holiday. Mail carrier finally came through at 4:30 yesterday, and thankfully the bag full of Amazon gift cards was there. Last gifts done. Not even going to attempt to mail them until after Christmas. The post office can't catch up with the ones they have to deliver now, not taking a chance on those disappearing too. Calling the company about our 2 missing pkgs that left NJ on 11/27 and haven't been seen since. Now maybe they will consider them lost and reship both orders. No sign of the pkg coming here from MI on Dec 8 and no sign of the pkg I sent to FL on Dec 10. :( That one was a gift for my friend, so I am still hoping it might show up down there before Friday.
Have a great day everyone!221341-Happy-Saturday.jpg

one of the many musical concerts PBS has been running, happily.
Hey! We watched the Ella Fitzgerald one last night! And I have the Belmont one and I think a Tim Janis one??? recorded? And of course, The Rick Steves European Christmas markets/festivals ...I record it, although I have the DVD somewhere! I've mentioned before, we were supposed to be over there for the Christmas markets this year and I'm still sore over missing it! Next year or 2022!

Mail order pharmacies can be challenging

I don't do the mail order thing, neither does my husband - we each have two RX per month...but a coworker of ours, one of her meds for RA - the insurance company only covers it if they do the mail order. She is constantly worried over it coming on time.

We did errands today,

That is our chore tomorrow. My Mother was up at Costco @ Christiana yesterday and she said it was horrendous. We plan on getting there i n the morning early-early - hopefully before they open. We will see. Husband needs to go to Cabelas and I have a return there as well, worst case scenario is he can drop me at Costco and go to Cabelas instead. I'm sure we will live to regret the decision!

I love this!

I heated up hot dogs and canned baked beans, then cut celery and carrot sticks. DH was happy with a simple meal.

I am hiding from the kitchen now. He wants to make snickerdoodles himself and I can't watch. LOL

This brought such a smile to my face! My mother must have made that exact meal a million times in my childhood! 'weenies & beanies' my Dad calls it:laughing:
And the snickerdoodles - good luck with that!!

new soup recipe

I've picked up two new recipes myself, and I can't wait to try them. A chicken parm soup my SIL made that was unreal, so good And another gal in the office brought in a creamy french onion soup - I didn't get to try it but others raved about it. I love most things onion, so I got the recipe from her...it sounded a lot like a cream of vidalia onion soup w/ lump crab I had once about 20 years ago and have never been able to replicate. I think she said she got it from doing one of those in store Williams Sonoma cooking classes w/ her mom a few years ago.

Well, Christmas is almost here. I'm about ready, with a exception or two. This morning I'm straightening up (already made the bed woo-hoo!!)and then moving outside to do some yard stuff. We are having a bonfire tonight, so I need to move some old fence posts that are to close to the bonfire area. I hope the forks are on the tractor.

Youngest is home for the weekend, so the fudge is out of the freezer and bacon is in the frying pan! Or it will be, he & his older brother are out on the boat this AM...burrrrr. And I suspect, one of the dogs is up in his bed stretched out! Great Danes can't hide to well so I find out soon enough!

Pizza for dinner this evening, I think maybe pork chops w/ salad tomorrow.

Have a wonderful weekend all, stay safe. Stay warm.

I'm missing a Penzey's gift card order. I made 2 orders, same day, about 4 hours apart. One was marked shipped the next day, the other 2 days later; they actually shipped 2 days after that. The 2nd one has arrived, the first is lost somewhere. I ordered an ornament on Etsy for my Reddit Ornament secret santa gift, and it has been in the mail for 10 days now (I just opened a case on it yesterday). I ordered another ornament from a different shop on the same day, and it was listed as being in 'pre-shipment' this entire time; the seller swears she sent it (and high ratings 5 stars with over 300 sales, and only one complaint about slow shipping). I asked her to cancel the order 2 days ago, since no one knows where it is; she refused, so I went to Etsy, and then she decided to give me a refund.

I ordered DH's meds at the beginning of the month, and I'm glad I did. Some of them (diabetes supplies and 3 meds) come USPS, and I would be so mad if they were stuck somewhere. The rest of his meds (insulin and 2 meds) come UPS, and they've been on time for us lately.; FedEx too; even though they both like to leave packages at the wrong apartments.
