Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

I went back out to shovel a little more. I can now get onto the street and the sidewalk is done. I need to buy a snowbrush as that snapped in half as I tried to clean the car. I am done. Bring on the summer. Seriously I may head to the park, actually a lot woods and walk through there and take some pics. I'll see if my granddaughter is free tomorrow so she can charge her camera battery. I think I am due as this was 11 years ago.10.jpg

Glad you are able to stay home, Carol!

I finished watching Small Town Christmas. It had its sweet moments but wasn't the best of the bunch! I tried watching yesterday some movie about cookies and just did not get into that at all. Sharing Christmas ended up being much better. I do have 3 movies on DVR still to watch.

DVR question. Thanks to some of you and also Imzadi, I know how to add time to the end of a recording which is so helpful! I always do that now as not to miss the end. Sometimes when I have started to watch a little of a movie and want to record it when it's closer to being finished (because I want to watch something else on TV in the meantime) or maybe caught the movie halfway done, it ends up starting to record not at the beginning (I always choose original start time) but wherever I stopped watching it. What's weird is there are times when it does record the entire movie! t can be very handy say I watched live half a movie and then it records from where I left off that's awesome but then most of the time I want to see the whole thing! Any ideas what's going on? Thank you :)

My old one would record from the beginning if you been on that channel the whole time. But if you were flipping to another channel and back again, it only started from the last time you flipped to it. I think it has something to do with what's in the "buffer."

We got about 14 inches of snow. DH cleared it out late this morning and into the afternoon. Our side of the street always seems to be the most snow from the snow plow but this time the other side did. Maybe this year the snow plows will favor our side. It keeps on flurrying and after a few hours it adds up a bit on the ground. I hope it stops soon. The temps are going down the next couple of days so we have to bundle up to go outside.

When the kids were young and even when they still lived with us while in college we put the gifts under the tree after they went to bed. Once they got married and the grandkids came, we still put the gifts under the tree on Christmas Eve to be ready bright and early. This year it really doesn't matter because we are dropping off the gifts to older DS and family on Christmas Eve day. It will be a Zoom Christmas with them. Then we will be seeing younger DS and family at their house for a little while on Christmas. This is the first year we have not had everyone at our house for Christmas. DH is a bit sad but it was going to happen sooner or later when the grandkids get older and want to stay home to play with their toys. I did get most of DH's gifts wrapped today so that is good. Still lots more things to do to get ready for Christmas.

I have been trying to watch some Hallmark and Lifetime movies but I find some of them just don't keep my attention. I'll try again tonight.

I hope everyone who is not feeling well is better soon and everyone waiting for a covid test result gets a negative result. Be careful on the snow and ice!

Woke up this morning unable to breathe - my sinuses swell up horribly when it snows (and even when it's just extra-cold out...I really need to move south!). I don't know how much snow we got here...we usually will stick the yardstick into it and take a close-up photo, but we forgot this year. It was up to Josh's knees, I think. I didn't think ahead and the only snowpants I had for him was in a size 3T, so they were much too short - they only covered the tops of his boots when he stood still. He's grown a LOT since last year! He played outside for 30-45 minutes while DH and my mom shoveled the driveway. Unfortunately, he was running by my mom when she was throwing the snow, and she wraps herself up so tightly that she has no peripheral vision and didn't see him coming by, and she whacked him in the face with the shovel. I honestly thought his nose was broken, there was so much blood. Got him cleaned up and he just has a few cuts around it, and a road rash mark on his cheekbone. Of course he's still been whining all day that he wants to go back outside and make a Frosty. Maybe this weekend we can run to Target or Kohls and find a pair of snowpants for him...

I'm sorry I can't help with your DVR question, flyingdumbo127. Our DVR only records from the beginning if you schedule it or start it right away. If you hit record after it's begun, it starts from that point. Even if I've been "watching" it - as in, I had the channel on but not really paying attention - I've tried rewinding it and then hitting record, but it would still start recording from the last "live" moment.

QOTD: Gifts under the tree - before or after Christmas Eve/Day?
In other words, do you put your gifts under the tree as you get them - or all at once at a specific point?
I put them under the tree as they get wrapped, except for the pet gifts - they all get treats, and they'd probably get opened (even the dog treats - we have a cat!) if I put those under there. If I tried to store them elsewhere, I'd most likely forget something. I can't do bows and ribbons, though...the cat won't leave those alone. Santa gifts get put out after Josh goes to sleep on Christmas Eve, of course...some get wrapped and put in a personalized "Special Delivery" sack, but the large/awkwardly shaped gifts just get left out.

Hug, Snowysmom, I am glad one way or another you'll still get to enjoy your family on Christmas. Please do keep warm and safe!

Thank you, Apirateslifeforme. Oh no, poor Josh! Prayers he is okay. I love that you have a "Special Delivery" sack. Does it say "From Santa" on it? :santa:

That’s where my husband is at- no grands here- but both kids have SO and I think a lot will be happening in our family over the next 10 years or so....husband forgets sometimes what it’s like to be a young adult and needing to sometimes do your own thing, or compromise with your SO and do stuff w/ her family, too!

Oh, poor guy! Isn’t amazing how hardy little boys are?! Ready to get back outside and get to it again!

My bit of good news is a time sensitive meeting I had scheduled this afternoon was able to happen, no delay due to weather/bad roads. Glad to have that taken care of! Whew!

We are getting slack w/ preparing proper meals and prepping them... I think I keep concentrating on my Christmas Eve & Day menus and grocery shopping needs I’m getting lazy in these days leading up to it- so tonight is some pierogi along with some Italian venison sausage. A odd combo! Oh well!

Tomorrow I’m on the road all day, three meetings at three jobsites in two states. I may stop at a target along the way home to grab the few stocking stuffers I need to pick up. Saturday we are having a bonfire, Sunday it’s the dreaded trip up to Costco🤣

Have a good evening all-

Update on at least one of the pkgs we are waiting for. The Amazon gift cards we ordered Tuesday, were shipped Wed, and I just the the tracking email that they arrived at our local post office this afternoon. Will be delivered tomorrow..whew..that was a large amount of gift cards (quantity and money wise), and I was so afraid they would get lost. Apparently the post office only pays attention when they are Amazon priority pkgs. My others are still all missing..2 of them for a month tomorrow..another for almost 2 weeks, and one I sent to FL will be 8 days tomorrow. Thankfully there was nothing fragile or anything that needed refrigeration, or it would be ruined.
@apirateslifeforme --ouch to Josh and the snow shovel. Hopefully he won't end up with a black eye or huge bruises tomorrow.
@easyas123 -- I have been the same way with meals. Even though it's just the 2 of us, I keep thinking of what I need to get for Christmas Day and Eve meals and keep forgetting about the every day one. I was so tired from clearing all the snow (thankfully the sun came out and melted some more of it today), that I said pick something easy for dinner. He had brats, I had Nathans beef franks, made Nathans fries and melted cheese over them, and had some fruit. Now it's tv and then bed.
Have a nice evening all,, be careful if you go out if you had snow,,it's flurrying here again, but the temps have dropped and the melted snow is starting to freeze :(

I'm glad you were able to stay home today, Easyas123. Please be careful on the road tomorrow!

I am very relieved for you, Lynxstch on your package update! Please stay safe and be cozy!

I just finished watching Hope at Christmas (I may have seen part of it before). I enjoyed it and loved the bookstore!

Aren't those the BEST?!?! I like mine w/ mayo....yum!

We are headed that way ourselves...I'll tell you, it's like we start to hibernate when the time changes! Dark? Must be time for TV & bed, who cares if it's only 7:10!

You and I would get along famously..I only use mayo on my fries! I might make it to 9:10. but that's it for me. I always wake up at 4:20 am!

DVR question.
I am one of the few that doesn't have a DVR so no help from me.

We had a large can that popcorn or something came in. It was pretty and had pictures on it. That is where all the dog treats went right out on the hearth.

I fixed ham slice in the frying pan, instant mashed potatoes, and left over green beans for dinner. Then I made chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies.

@easyas123 and @lynxstch, did you listen to Hogan? I was watching a Hallmark movie(like I couldn't figure out what would happen) so just read the closed captions and the statement after. Essential travel only but no out of state travel. So I can drive 3 hours to Ocean City or 3 hours to western Maryland, but not 30 minutes to DD's in Delaware. I am going to be a lawbreaker. And @easyas123 , where will you shop? I can see the restriction but make it a 50 or 100 mile radius from home, not out of state. I am 6 miles from PA and 6 miles form DE. 35 miles from Baltimore.
