Catching up here!
@NYCgrrl Have been thinking about you and hoping you’re doing ok after such a profound loss. I understand you didn’t want to say anything here for a while. I was the same way after my mother’s passing. It took a while to want to talk about it. I hope you know we’re here any time you want to talk/if you want to talk. We have certainly missed your posts.
@Breezy_Carol Happy Anniversary! Lovely and serene pictures! Thanks for sharing.
@Snowysmom Sending thoughts and prayers for Jasper. Going to PM you.
@apirateslifeforme I always gave coaches a small DD card, like $10, mainly because I didn’t want them to feel they had to reciprocate. Just a little token of appreciation. Even if they don’t like coffee, they have so many other things to choose from. The other thing I sometimes got coaches was a Big Bubba mug (and stuck a candy bar inside), especially for summer sports. They sell them at
WalMart for around $10 but they hold a lot of water and what coach doesn’t need a big mug of water? That’s funny about Josh‘s reaction seeing his coach. It actually happened to us in reverse when we were at the funeral home planning my mother’s services. A young man came in related to the owner’s family and recognized my son as his coach! Of all places, right?
Hmm, what’s been happening here? Trying to get some things done around the house and getting out a little bit to enjoy what time is left with relatively good weather here. We have a lot of leaves to blow, DS is going to help us. (DH just got over a shoulder injury from yard work in the spring, but it bothered him all summer and he had to ultimately get two steroid shots in it so he could move it without pain again. Ugh.) I had a moving visit with a favorite patient last weekend that left me with a bit of a melancholy mood this week. We’d bonded a couple of months ago but things hadn’t gone like we all hoped they would. I went to visit her on another unit while I was at work and it was hard to keep my emotions in check, but I got through it. I love patient care, but it can be hard sometimes when it hits your heart. I wouldn’t change it for the world, though.
DH and I were on our way out the other day and taking Toto with us when we realized he’d rolled in goose or turkey poop or something. Omg. We thought it was just a small area but it turned out to be a lot, and we had to give him a bath on the spot.

Why do dogs do this? Lol. He smells good now though, and has been cuddling by my legs with the chill in the air which is cozy for both of us. We are considering a puppy, which is big news for us since it’s been several years since we lost our last dog and have been trying to find another since then. This last thing with the dog we wanted being given away to someone else sort of did me in.
