So today is our 9th wedding anniversary!

:love::cheer2:💍👩‍❤️‍👨💐🥂
(that's about as artistic as I get!)
Happy Anniversary!

@easyas123, these are hot chocolate bombs:
https://pin.it/6we1o9X

AHHH! That totally makes sense, thanks so much for posting that. Now that I think about it she did mention something about marshmallows so when I watching that video it all came together for me. Geez, that looks somewhat doable for marginal cooks like myself. I think I have an idea in case I need to babysit my niece this holiday season-

Easyas123, I am right with you artistic-wise along with very simple stick figures!

Hot chocolate made with milk not water can be very tasty! For some reason the packets of cocoa powder don't always sit right with my system. I don't like real (from a container) cocoa powder (not sweet enough) This sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing, PollyannaMom!

A not too exciting day. Moved two desks from DH's office to home. Took another hike in nature. I got a summons for jury duty and my anxiety was kicking in so I had to get outside.

DS had the event he was supposed to work in NC cancelled so now he is flying to Detroit.

Carol, my apology for not saying this earlier but thank and God Bless you as well for donating all that food!
I don't think it was me who donated food.

@apirateslifeforme, Happy Anniversary! 🍾 party:

These leaf suncatchers are cool. Tell Josh "Good Job!"

I can't even remember what I had (I think the chicken?), but I do remember that it was good ;)
This made me laugh. Neither DH or I could eat at our reception, either nerves or visiting tables. The first night at the hotel by the airport, we were looking for snack vending machines because we were so hungry.

Going to watch some of the Biden town hall and DH will watch Trump, just so we can tell the other to change the channel. We are both on the same page for this election and have already voted.

@Breezy_Carol I am in Western Maryland--are courts open where you live in MD? They aren't here. Maybe your jury duty will be cancelled..don't stress too much over it!

@lynxstch There was an enclosure about COVID precautions so I think they are open. I asked DD because her office is in one of the court houses. She said there were starting to reopen and had Plexiglas and floor markings, taking temps. I am going to call tomorrow. I am 3 years too young to get off because of age. I've lived in the county 32 years and this is the fifth time I've been called. DH has lived here all 67 years of his life and been called once.

Doesn't seem right that the only place I go is the grocery store and medical appts. No church, no restaurants, and then this.

Thanks for sharing ideas, suppose to be cold here this weekend . The chocolate cocoa bombs look really fun!! And the leaf sun catchers is a great craft for my neighbors’ kiddos

Side note, I don’t put up my Christmas tree till Dec 15 th or so, a live one. And use to wait till December to start celebrating. However, the last few years I start listening to Mariah Carey, Reba, Michael Buble, Bing Crosby CDs right after Halloween while dusting and scrubbing the house. Tonight we watched “Home Alone “on HBO. Last year we caught it in free form channel and they added bubbles with information on how it was filmed, it was hilarious! I also saw that lifetime is starting Christmas movies next week. Hey , I guess we could all use a little holiday cheer this year.

Well thanks for all you do for many Carol anyway :) I hope you won't have to go to jury duty! I am not sure how that could be enforced now? Courts sure are closed here but then I know I'm also in one of the hardest hit places.

Sparkle, we all could use extra cheer right now indeed! I am looking forward to Christmas movies on Hallmark starting a week from this coming Saturday. That is fun you got to see some behind the scenes movie information.

Thank you all for the anniversary wishes! It's just an ordinary Thursday night for us, however...Josh had his gymnastics class, then we got him to bed and now we're sitting here watching Haven. But for this weekend, we already have tickets to see Nightmare Before Christmas at our now-open movie theatre ("Comeback Classics," $5 for adults and $3 for kids. Josh is excited) and then maybe we'll order Chinese. That's as much celebrating as we can handle.

Happy 9th Anniversary to you and your DH, Apirateslifeforme! I also love the leaf suncatchers. How does that work? I mean do you iron leaves on and through wax paper?
First put a towel down on the ironing board, then lay a piece of wax paper over it. Arrange your leaves the way you'd like (I also trim the stems so they don't get in the way). Lay another sheet of wax paper over that, cover it with a second towel (gently), then iron the whole thing. Make sure the iron is very hot and keep going until you don't hear the paper crinkling anymore. You can also crush crayons and put some of the pieces in between the wax papers, too. I did that with a previous year's batch - unfortunately, a crayon that looked purple was actually a bright berry pink. Not exactly autumn-colored... ;)

I'm sorry about your jury duty summons. I dread getting the mail every single day because of it. I got called in the summer of 1993; I was 19 and had just voted for the first time in the previous year's election. I got called again 4 more times - 5 times total - in 7 years. I've had to go every time as well. I have a degree in criminal justice, so I'm seen as "on the side of the police/law enforcement," I have an uncle who used to be a police officer and who at the time held public office, I used to work with the police department as it is, so needless to say, I am not wanted on a jury and I usually get disqualified. But there is nowhere on the summons return form to respond with that, so I have to go and explain it when I get there. And when you get disqualified, your service then doesn't count, so you potentially could get called again the following month and you'd have to go back and explain it all over again...

I got called in August 2018 and again in August 2019. These times I was able to go online and respond that I am a SAHM of a young child, and they usually will dismiss you for that. Just have to give them Josh's birthdate and that's the end of it. I'm debating on serving the next time I get called, though, just so I can get a 3-year deferral. Of course, if I do that, I'm "wasting the court's time" since I have a young child and can't sit for a jury trial, so I might get in trouble for that. You just can't win.

We were lucky with our wedding reception, we actually got to eat. It was a very small wedding; with us, only 55 people. Only 5 tables to visit. We tried to go around, but almost everyone was dancing! At the final 2 tables, only 2 people were left at one of them and the other was empty. We either "cut a cupcake" or our photographer took us outside for photos at that point anyway. It was a lovely day...but early; I remember getting back home around 5:30 that evening, still in gown and tux, unloading our car (crammed full of gifts) with our neighbors coming out on their decks to congratulate us. By 7 p.m., DH was snoozing in his chair while I was on FB, changing my name on my profile :)

Thank you for the directions, Apirateslifeforme! I do know the church camp kids always liked making colored bead design inside a plastic shape. Those could be ironed. Leaves sound more active an experience and cool. I will keep that in mind post plague! So glad you have a fun weekend treat planned.

I seem to be called for Jury Duty ever couple years. Had the plague not struck, I probably would have been called this year. I've never actually served on a Jury though. I came super close once. I was in the juror bigger box on the courtroom floor. I think I was like #17 or #18 of maybe #20 possible jurors. I had not been questioned at all or had to say a word. Neither had some of the others. It was decided to dismiss the person next to me, I moved to his spot but after doing that they dismissed me, easy!

Sweet Dreams, friends :)

Good morning DIS family. We are currently at 56 degrees, and our high for the day will be 53, lol!. We have a freeze watch for overnite tonite, so I'm glad I took in all plants, got rid of flowers, and put bird baths away.

I got called for Jury Duty one time, when I lived in MA. That was at least 35 years ago. It was a criminal case. I sat there all day waiting for my name to be called, knowing it wouldn't be, as my grandmother used to work for one of the attorney's, and they told me they would just not seat me as a juror anyhow. It was just a wasted day for me, at the time they didn't even pay you for it. Husband has been called 3x in the last 15 years, but never had to sit on a panel. 2 of the 3 times, you would call in and they would just say you didn't need to show up. The other time he went, and they all got sent home after an hour, lol.
Guess since it will be chilly out today, I'll do another full fall cleaning on a room. Only 3 left to do!
Are you all getting that annoying video ad at the bottom of the screen on this thread? I have 2 adblockers running and I am still getting it. I am using Chrome on here, so maybe it's coming from them?

Have a great day everyone!!!

Hey y'all

Not much going on here. DD#2 has come and gone, and we had a great time while they were here.

Enjoying a pumpkin spice bagel with pumpkin spice cream cheese (fall find!) this morning. DD#2 turned me onto a new drink at Starbucks this go-round...well, 2 actually. I really like the vanilla sweet cream cold brew (but only at the SB by my house; the one in Orlando by the airport was horrible), and she got an iced chai tea latte with the pumpkin foam...it tasted like eggnog, haha. So, there's my two fall finds this last week for the thread.

We caught a rock on the way to Orlando last week, and it chipped the windshield just below sightline on the drivers side, leading to a crack all the way up and across the passenger side. Had the insurance company set up a replacement; Safelite came out and then discovered that they didn't have the right glass on the truck. Since it's a newer car, with all sorts of bells & whistles, it needed recalibration and a special glass; the person doing the appointment should have known that (per the tech that drove 45 minutes to get here). So I had to go to their actual facility and spend 4 hours there to get it done. (45 minutes from my house; for Jax people, it was off of JTB and 95, near Dave & Busters and St Vincents Southside). It was very clean, and they had table well spaced, even if some of their customers failed to follow the spacing (gathering together by the window, etc). It's finally done, and so far everything is good, though.

I've been summoned for jury duty twice. Once, I was able to get out of it at the last minute, because the daycare closed down unexpectedly and I had no one to watch the girls. I went in for the redo, and wasn't picked, so left like 90 minutes after arriving. The 2nd time, I made it to the jury box, but was dismissed during voir dire because it turned out that I "knew" the defendent...because he had attempted to do the same thing to me that he was accused of doing to the victim in this case. Was walking home one night, and was attacked; fought him off, bit him pretty welll in a place that guys are very sensitive to talk about...don't judge, it was the closest thing to my face...almost completely severed one of his huevos; and a security guard at the apartment complex I was walking by heard me screaming, and came to help. He swore he wasn't trying to assault me, just rob me...I'm like, dude, I'm wearing a McDonald's uniform, do you really think I'd have money? My case was scheduled for the next month, and I didn't recognize his face very well, but his name hit, and the fact the lawyer said he had to sit on a donut pillow thing made me laugh so hard while in the box.

DH has been summoned almost every 3 years and has yet to sit a case. He's also been dinged for federal court, which is a yearlong possibility, so that was fun.

Morning 😃😊🙂

Nails - I treat myself to a pedicure 2-3 times a year, just getting smooth heals feels nice and the fun OPI polish , sparkles of course, brightens my day.
I don’t get manicures, because I get monthly neck massages to treat my TMJ.
On the radio, I keep hearing a commercial for Vick’s soothing baths. So on my next shopping trip going to pick that up or do they still make Calgon bath salts ?

I like to get the Dr Teal's stuff. They are epsom salts.

https://www.drteals.com/products/?product-type=salts
They also have foaming bath, lotion, scrubs, foot soaks, etc. I have to be careful with what I use (darn psoriasis) but I can use several of the bath salts and foot soaks without issue.

Are you all getting that annoying video ad at the bottom of the screen on this thread?

Me - I'm getting it as well.

Dark, getting cooler and raining here. I love a cold, wet miserable day - although I'd much rather be at home enjoying it than at work!

I've got to corral about 16 construction workers for the afternoon to undergo some routine training/re-training. They'll be thrilled when I tell them they've got to wear masks:crazy2: during the training most likely.

I didn't recognize his face very well, but his name hit, and the fact the lawyer said he had to sit on a donut pillow thing made me laugh so hard while in the box.
That is awesome - not that you suffered that of course, rather the punishment you dealt to the person who attempted to attack you - and that you got to see him still dealing with the ramifications a month later. I hope your turn in court had good results.

Apparently I inadvertently started a QOTD about jury duty.

In my previous summons, I've had to call in daily for a week, I have had to go into the court house and usually the case was dismissed by lunch time so never to the court room. Once all the way to the court room before I was dismissed.

Also get the video on my laptop where I use Chrome.

DH and I signed up for COVID tests today. Going to a drive thru in Delaware where they do oral swab. No reason, just peace of mind.

Going to a drive thru in Delaware where they do oral swab

Is the oral swab different than the nasal swab? I presume so??? But thought I'd better ask! I had the nasal swab back in the spring, ugh I hope to avoid that if I need a second test. Are the sights Walgreens? I had a gal in the office leave earlier this week as her step father has a co-worker with it and she still lives at home. I told her to go get a test and stay home till she got the results & I'd pay her for her time this week. That was Tuesday I think - she doesn't have the results back yet, and neither does her step father. They went to a Walgreens - think it was in Dover. I see the one in Middletown is always hopping with a line when I go by on a weekday.
