Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning DIS family! Very foggy here right now, but will be 78 and sunny later. Calling for temps in lowers 60's most of the week with rain expected tomorrow..but we need it! For anyone interested,,update on my niece Madalyn from her Mom last nite--To think that last Sunday, Madalyn was in the hospital and could not even walk unassisted, and today we walked around a zoo for a few hours of special Mom and Dad time to celebrate her birthday
🥰
It was the perfect day!

No updates on grandson yet. He was very very stiff and sore yesterday..is keeping his leg elevated and keeping ice packs on it as much as possible.

Just waiting for the heating company to drop off the formal estimate for the new heating/cooling system so we can sign it. Hoping to get it done today, so he can order the units and get them installed in the next couple of weeks.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Monday morning.

Lynn, glad Madalyn is improving and had a good birthday trip.

Same MacDonald's experience here. I rarely eat there and usually just one small cheeseburger, which I tolerate. DH will crave a quarte pounder occasionally and then regret his decision..

Well, Plymouth is definitely on our list for a future visit! Maybe once Josh learns the history, it will be fun for him to see it in person!

Busy weekend. I've been wiped out by the time I sit down every evening. I feel bad that I haven't kept up here or with PMs like I should.

Saturday 9/26 QOTD: What type of wall and/or datebook calendar(s) do you have? Do you tend to get the same choices each year or choose differently?
The only wall calendar we have is Josh's magnetic Melissa & Doug one ;) (Ours only goes through 2022, though...)

We keep a planner on the kitchen island counter. A book-type one with the entire month on 2 pages, and each day is a large block with enough space to write in our appointments. Good way for everyone in the house to know who has what on which day. We usually get one of those at Ocean State Job Lot for a dollar or two.

My mom and I still carry old-fashioned date books in our purses. We buy the 2-year kind, usually from the Lang company. I don't have a particular theme that I prefer, I just choose one that I like. I think I have a cat one right now.

Two years ago, I started making desk calendars on Shutterfly for the grandmas. Just photos of Josh. I'm lazy; I just do one and order 2 of them, which each grandma gets as part of her Christmas gift :)

That year I picked out an Outhouse calendar for my DS as a joke. When he received it he called me and asked me if this meant he was full of sh**. He's gotten one every year since. 😄
I really need to do this for Josh! He loves outhouses! We have a historic one-room schoolhouse right around the corner from our house and the outhouse is still there as well. He is absolutely fascinated by the idea of having to put your coat on and go outside to go to the potty. When we went to Sturbridge Village last month, he spent the longest time checking out one of the outhouses they have there. It was interesting...2 holes side-by-side on a higher-up bench, then a third hole to the side on a bench that was barely 6" off the ground. How sweet...the whole family could potty all at the same time! :rotfl:

Good Morning Dis Family :)

I had my teeth cleaning this morning. As always dentist is so kind, I am so Blessed indeed. He did discover (I had no clue) that an old filling had come out in part! The replacement took less than 10 minutes--super easy. However for that time, the charge was $155! That amount is AFTER a very kind and substantial discount! I am thankfully able to pay that next time since I did not come prepared to do so today. Thank God, all teeth-wise otherwise is just fine. Both dentist and his wife (aka his receptionist) were also so kind to notice how much weight I've lost and said how nice I look. To make all of you on here smile, I wore a pair of my dad's old pajama pants that look more like lounge pants. They have a thicker waist (which normally I do not care for in pants especially in pajamas) and a drawstring both of which kept them up. Previously I had to literally hold with one hand my one pair of pants! This worked so much better, plus as I told dad, one day God-willing post plague, these pants will be so much easier to wear while shopping for new pants at Kohls! :)

My phone is a Galaxy A01. I do seem to remember it telling me something about an update a couple weeks ago....I chose to not do it at time and then I'm not sure it reminded me again. I'll have to look. Thanks, everyone :)

Apirateslifeforme, I love Josh's calendar, so cute and cheerful!

Lynxstch, what a wonderful Blessing of report to share on Madalyn, praise God! Hooray!

@flyingdumbo127 I have an iPhone; I don’t know much about other types of phones, so what I say mainly applies to what I’ve learned about mine by trial and error (and what my kids teach me), but a few thoughts. Is it possible that a software update occurred automatically? Perhaps when you were charging your phone? Check to see if you have it programmed for automatic updates (see info about Settings below). You should do the updates because if you don’t, some things may not work right or may shut down unexpectedly (at the worst possible time), etc.

Just about everything on the phone is programmed through Settings. Think of it as the brains of the operation. It behooves you (general you) to take some time to get to know what’s in Settings. You can play around with things and really personalize your phone. Go to Camera settings and see what you can turn on and off there. Maybe you can shut the camera icon off, but then again it may be handy to have it there in order to take pictures quickly. I take a lot of pictures so that is a feature I like. (My dog moves quickly so getting really nice photos of him when I see a potential photo is challenging!) Same for any other icons and/or numbers for texts, etc. - check Settings for texts.

If you can access a “how to” video For your phone, maybe on YouTube, or through their website, it might help to watch it. Or go to where you bought it or your service provider for help. (But I think I am remembering you may be pre-pay and bought it online?) Google questions for your type of phone, or start a general thread on the CB as there are a lot of other phone users here besides iPhone.

Facebook memories from 4 years ago was a girls day with my daughter at Disneyland. :lovestruc Gosh I miss it soo much but the pics made me happy. 528570528571

I also keep forgetting to go back and look to see who's on FB.... Here's my link if anyone wants to add me. https://www.facebook.com/faith.forgey.5
Oh so I guess I should say hi....my real name is Faith. :thumbsup2

So we have this huge giant tree in our backyard...528572
It usually looks like an umbrella but we didnt get it trimmed last year so its crazy overgrown right now. A couple years ago we had a couple ravens make a nest in the tree...there are 4 now we call them our raven family. LOL They don't seem to care when we are out in the yard(even the dogs don't bother them:laughing:) when they are walking around on the ground. The past couple days we've had a ton hanging out in our yard, at least 20 but maybe more. Hubby says they're having a family reunion...I've been trying to get a picture but they all fly off as soon as I get too close. I love it.

I just went outside to take that picture of the tree and its soo nice out right now. Won't last long its supposed to be in the 90s later. Gross.

@apirateslifeforme Sounds like your days are very busy and challenging! Hopefully things settle out a bit as the year goes on. If you go to Plymouth you would like the John Carver Inn once the pool is open again. Josh would enjoy the water slide! If you Search here I’ve posted a lot of info about Plymouth (here on CB), but I’m always happy to answer questions, as well!

@lynxstch Glad family members are doing better!!

Hope everyone having health issues is doing ok!

DS’s girlfriend made that Greek chicken dish last night. It was so good! And relatively healthy! Chicken was done on our weird “grill”, that I like now! Lol

I used to have Westies. I had 2 before my current rescue Silky terrier. I love Westies. They are playful, loyal, loud, sweet, and stubborn. We weren't going to get another dog after we lost our last westie to cancer. But, my DS and DDIL who adopted Jasper, had their schedules changed to longer hours and Jasper was not happy being alone that long. We adopted him into our home and he is happy and spoiled.

@Pea-n-Me I love cairns too. Your little terrier is adorable. The chicken you made looks really good.

Today is warm with a bit of a breeze, around 76. By Friday the temps will be in the mid 60s and be like that for the weekend. Temps near or over 100 are too hot for me.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad your dentist appointment went well. Congrats on the weight loss.

Aww, thank you, Snowysmom for giving Jasper a loving home! I like his name. Would he ever pose for a picture so we could see him? Or did I already ask you this once before? I remember asking someone on our thread who shared that their doggie was too much on the go to stop for a photo op. Thank you so much. I would still one day post plague love to lose at least 5 more pounds (belly--which could also be partly loose skin) I am so thankful to be much healthier.

Maybe it’s time for new doggie, kitty, etc., pictures now that we’ve gotten to know eachother better and can more associate things and situations with names! It might help @lovemygoofy too, in thinking about what kind of dog she wants to get!

Let’s make it a QOTD! Show and tell us about your pets! (Again? )

This is from 2015. Grace and Raleigh have both crossed the Rainbow Bridge. They were rescues and wonderful friends. A little goofy, as can be seen by Grace resting her head on the hearth. They were a bonded pair and always close together.

Aww! I can’t remember if you said you had decided not to have any more dogs?

This is Kirby, our Red/Blue Heeler mix who's passed on. He lived to be almost 17 years old. And Mack Daddy, my DS dog. He is 7 years old and we love him to death. We've had other dogs but no pictures quickly accessed. Our very favorite was a Golden Retriever named Sam. We still miss him and it's been almost 25 years since he passed away. We don't have any dogs at the moment.

At this point, I think we are done. We have had 6 dogs over the past 35+ years. I had 2 before I met my husband. We would like to travel and having dogs kind of limits that. We miss Grace but enjoying spontaneous road trips.

Here is our grand-dog Paisley, a goldendoodle, when she rode with us to the Outer Banks this summer.

I may scan and post photos of my shelties tomorrow.
