@AuntieMe3 , so glad the young girl was located. What a relief for her family.

@Pea-n-Me, we like to tour resorts also. When we used to go to Fort Myers to visit my in-laws, we would stop for lunch and a Disney fix on the way through Orlando. We would make a reservation at one of the resort restaurants. Or if we got to our hotel and didn't want to go to a park til the next day, we'd go to Poly to watch fireworks from the beach.

Ok - add me to the list of those who live in the Land of Turkey Hill but have NEVER seen a TH ice cream cake .... I am still a bit bitter that our local grocery stores are no longer carrying Yuengling ice cream.
I have gotten Yuengling ice cream at Redners in the past but haven't looked in years.

Whoo hoo..I just searched and found out that our local Martins (Giant) carries the ice cream cakes.
Martin's in Rising Sun near me is where I found the TH ice cream cake online also. Turkey Hill is going to have a run on their dessert. LOL

Rain last nite and today, cooler here in temps, but very muggy. Glad I got all the outdoor stuff done yesterday. Finally, ripe tomatoes are coming out of the garden at a nice slow pace, picked 5 this morning. I figure after the rain, and the cooler temps, I will have many more by next week. Thinking of making zucchini bread with the excess we have now, and found a recipe for zucchini/blueberry bread with lemon cream cheese frosting that hubby wants me to make. Have a lovely Friday, and the last day of July, everyone! Hard to believe that August starts tomorrow..we are nearing 3/4 of the way thru the year already :(

Thanks for rescuing our thread, Carol! Aww, that is such a Blessing your DD and her friend are still in touch, and of course, the new baby is as well!

Muggy=yucky weather, Lynxstch, I hope it cools off for you! July did indeed speed by! June seemed sort of sluggish to me. Now it is August. Honestly though, time now is so strange that to me it still does feel as though we are not necessarily moving ahead though, of course, we are and with many Blessings and joy along the way. too :)

Friday 7/31 QOTD: Thinking about a kids book I recently re-read, did you or any of your friends (or with your own family) ever make up your own holiday? In the book, the kids decide the last Saturday of August is "Augustania." There is a dog parade, pie contest, swimming and luau and sundaes + semi going door to door for candy. The official color of this day is bright yellow. Sounded fun to me. I never did anything like that though. We will one year have our Minnie's Meet and maybe that can be our very own kindness thread Minnie's Dis Day celebration ::MinnieMo

I talked to DD and found that the new baby is a boy. So, the 2 old friends now each have a little girl and boys just 2 months apart.

Very muggy here too. I opened windows and turned off AC but that may have been a mistake just for the humidifier part.

@flyingdumbo127, check your date. You are on COVID time. LOL

I shared this before but it certainly answers the question. We have a family holiday -Lamesgiving. It is the Friday after Thanksgiving. Started many years ago and includes my kids, now their spouses and kids, and my brother and his kids plus their SOs. My DB lives in CT and would go to NJ for Thanksgiving then come to our house in MD on Friday for dinner with us and our mother. I got tired of fixing two big dinners so we started to go out Thanksgiving and have a big dinner Friday. DS, a teen at the time, called it lame. Hence, Lamesgiving. Then when my son's work schedule interfered and both kids had to split time with in-laws, Friday continued to work well. This year we even had matching T shirts.

LOL to "Covid" time! It is indeed 7/31! Thanks, Carol. Hey, at least I got the Friday part right :D I will go fix that in my original post so as not to confuse anyone! I think lovely is a better word than lame! Thank you for sharing.

Meriweather, I think once I un-melted and of course the plague ended, I might consider moving to Alaska! I do remember one day several years ago when it soared to 119 here. But never consistently! Keep well and cool. To me that is even too hot to be in the pool! Yikes.

Hi friends, great to see most of you are enjoying things like ice ream and fried chicken. Prayers for the rest experiencing difficulties. Our family is on the beach in Maryland this week.... enjoying Maryland fried chicken , ribs, and crab cakes. Everyone has been great about wearing masks, spread out on beach, and only 1 family per elevator in the condo. I’ve felt really safe, except when going to the store to look for a new beach chair.

Homemade holiday : half birthday. I have a summer birthday so in grade school they celebrated my half birthday. I told my Hubbie when I just started dating him and for several years he sent me flowers on the day.

Favorite Disney resort - Wilderness Lodge!!!!!
I love how it’s all in one building, so quick trip down elevator to get Mickey waffles at roaring fork once or twice a trip. Boat to a Magic Kingdom where you could just roll the strollers off after a long day in the park. The peacefulness and fake crickets sound they pump in, making me feel like I’m near Yellowstone. The last few years, we have spent the day after Thanksgiving and the following week , enjoy8ng the Christmas tree.
Springtime to run the Star Wars 10K and our honeymoon was spent at Yacht Club. I love this area too walking around the boardwalk or to Epcot.

Port Orleans riverside was a very nice area, I just didn’t like the long walk to get food or the 3 bus stops before going to the parks

We had a "metric birthday" for DS one year (five hundred weeks old, I think it was?) - basically just a fun excuse for cake and ice cream.
