QOTD Wednesday, July 29: Which is your favorite Disney Resort, and why?

I've only been to Disneyland so I guess the Disneyland Resort, as a whole, would be my favorite. LOL I've stayed at the DL hotel and Paradise Pier but I prefer to stay offsite across the street from the park for cheaper. Tropicana Inn and Suites is my go to place...its so close. Since I'm local, most of my trips are just day trips anyway. Our family had annual passes for years starting in 2005, we went so often, at least 2x a month, usually more....we would just pop down for dinner and ride a couple rides before heading home, DD and hubby got tired of going. I don't know how that's possible but they did....lol :confused3 Hubby bought me a ticket for my birthday a couple years ago and I turned it into a pass. I had the best time going by myself until I decided to not renew because my time was getting taken up by being my mom's caregiver. Last year, hubby bought DD and I annual passes again and we've been enjoying them once a month until Covid....👎 Can't wait until we can get back there but still debating whether or not I should renew my pass or not.

Funny story to share today about hubby....he's once again out of town in the bay area for work. He works for a bio-energy company and they are doing work at a wastewater plant for the city. He drives a big old work truck with tools for the job and was waiting outside Best Buy waiting for it to open to buy something for his laptop. He said the next thing he knows a woman in a lab coat is knocking on his window asking if he was the electrician she was waiting for to come check a problem with the power in her dental office. He said he wasn't and she started venting about how she had been waiting all morning and she had patients coming in soon. Hubby said he felt so bad for her, he told her he could look and see if there was anything he could do but he was not an electrician so he couldn't promise anything. I guess it was just something really simple with the breaker and he fixed it for her no problem. The woman was sooo happy she offered to pay him and he said he couldn't accept any money, he was just happy to help. She was so appreciative, she asked how many people were in our household and gave him three electric toothbrushes.... This kind of things happens to hubby all the time....lol He is always there to help people when they need it.

Good morning everyone! We have a sunny, bright day. Supposed to be the last 90 degree day for awhile. Calling for storms tonite, tomorrow, and into the weekend, temps tomorrow only 79! I just hurried and did all the yard work. Lawn is mowed, weedwacked, all walks blown clean. Garden has been tended, picked more squash, more cukes and more tomatoes. For now they are just enough that we can keep eating them, I give it a week and there will be so many I won't be able to carry the basket full in the house, lol! Those are all my chores for the day, I think I am finally going to watch Frozen 2. The dvd is still in it's wrapper, sitting by the tivo where it's been since I bought it in March, lol--think it's about time to watch it? ! Have a wonderful day everyone. I am loving reading everyone's stories and I love the pics of @Meriweather's grandkids doing their homeschooling yesterday!

Last night we sat through 2 hours of what ended up being a 3-hour town Board of Education meeting on YouTube. The superintendent outlined the 3 plans that the town has made - all in-person, hybrid of in-person and online instruction, and online only - but of course, after the plans were submitted to the state, the governor issued a 3-page addendum that the town now has to take into consideration. So after all of that, the only thing that they were able to vote on was to change the first day of school to September 8. We turned it off when the first board member began his comments on why he preferred the hybrid in-person and online instruction and it really sounds like we might go that way, at least for kids in grades K-6. Children with last names beginning with A-L will go to school on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the others going online. On Wednesdays, the schools will be closed for deep cleaning and everyone will be online. On Thursdays and Fridays, kids with last names M-Z will go while the other kids go online. I can handle that. Now I just wish they'd let us kindergarten parents know exactly what paperwork/documents we need to provide to get our kids fully registered...

Tonight is Josh's last make-up gymnastics class. DH is going to take him so I can stay home to make dinner. We don't want to get take out, as Saturday is DH's birthday and he wants something out that night. I think I'm going to make a quiche again, since we now have 5 dozen eggs from the farm in the basement fridge. I'm going to have to do bacon, onion, mushroom, and tomato.

QOTD Wednesday, July 29: Which is your favorite Disney Resort, and why?
Overall, I think my favorite is the Polynesian. I just like the whole tropical thing in general...palm trees and hibiscus and tikis. I've never stayed there, though. Can't afford it. We're thinking of maybe just staying there for a night - 2 if we can swing it - next time we go. (Our next trip is going to be 4 full days at Epcot and Animal Kingdom and I really don't think we can afford 5 nights there.) If they still have the luau, we'd all enjoy that.

I have only stayed at the Port Orleans French Quarter, Pop Century (2x), and Art of Animation. My favorite of those was the French Quarter. I loved the theming, the food at the food court, and it was relatively small and relaxing. I did like the Pop Century for the nostalgia factor - the first time I stayed there, we got an 80s building and every single time we went outside, we got to hear a Duran Duran song ;) I did like the Art of Animation - we stayed in a Cars suite, which Josh LOVED. The only reason we got a suite was because my in-laws were supposed to join us, but they bowed out at the last minute. The walk from our room to Animation Hall was rather long, in our opinion, but Josh enjoyed seeing the characters. But on our next planned trip to Epcot and AK, I think we're going to try to stay at POFQ, depending on the cost.

Nice to "see" you, Mommasita! :) Continued prayers indeed for Tina and her family and to you and yours as well :)

AuntieMe3, God Bless your husband for helping that lady! Great story :)

Lynxstch, enjoy Frozen 2! :) I admit to having never seen Frozen 1 lol.

Hug, apirateslifeforme and to all on this thread with young kids or grandkids! Keeping you and your kiddos in prayer. I am glad you at last have some information on plans for the upcoming school year.

I almost thought today was Wednesday again :p Happy Thursday to all!

I have to share this one, it just happened and it made me laugh. Hubby is working from home. His phone rings, and he calls me and says come look at this . Caller ID shows a #, and says' Potential Fraud'? Are they that stupid, that their caller ID warns you before you answer it? LOL!!! He let it go to voice mail, and then listened to it. They claimed there was a claim made on his Medicare that wasn't his, and it could be trouble. So call them and give them all your info so they can look into it? First of all, he doesn't have Medicare yet, he's still working and has BCBS. Second (after I made him add it as a blocked # on his phone and I put it in mine as blocked too),, I looked up the number. 2 different answers..1 says the call came from Texas, the second says it came from Mexico. Do people really still fall for that stuff? I am tired from yard work, and seeing that just made me laugh like crazy! So forgive me if you all think I'm nuts for telling you about it! :P

I posted this on Facebook 3 years ago...this is our TV with the Caller ID that pops up...

Today's entertainment. First I fixed a nice breakfast of eggs and bacon. Only bacon and toast for me. Then DH and I went to the liquor store to stock up for vacation, to Walgreens for travel toiletries, then back to his office. There we loaded up his station wagon with junk, and this is the exciting part, went to the landfill. After we came home we went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, which I'd been craving.

Tonight is chicken fiesta soup which I started this morning in the crock pot.

Hi all,
I'm sorry I haven't been around. I have been up with my SIL and the now 4 kids. It's been a lot. ALOT..ALOT..
her husband was called away for work that he hadn't finished up. It was challenge to say the least with 3 kids under 5 and one brand new baby. My SIL and I are very different people and ideas. I did my best to respect her and her parenting and go along with their flow of doing things. Just stressful time for everyone. And truth be told it's still really difficult for me to be around babies even after all these years and at night I had some emotions to work through that never really gets settled. I got home Monday and exhausted and slept good two days and then took my accounting 2 final, and tidy up my house.

Today is my Matt's birthday. I'll go out and pick up birthday cake I ordered and get him fried chicken dinner for his birthday, which is his favorite. Cake is Kentucky Bourbon flavored with honey vanilla icing and it's shaped like a bourbon barrel so that's fun. I ordered few Indy Colt's shirts and masks for his birthday. I didn't anticipate our season tickets being postponed until next season. Oh well it'll be fine.

I see few of the QOTD.

I am a shopper. I love to browse and look and plan especially home decorating. I did stop on my way back home and do some retail therapy, which first time since this all started in March to just look and ohh and ahhh...I was at the Very Bradley outlet. I wanted to pick up more masks for me and just some super cute things. I ended up buying a flat iron/curling iron hot cover for my suitcase and super cute mini packing squares for hygiene or makeup or jewelry. All the various sizes fit in one bag. I really like my things organized when I pack and travel.

Favorite Disney Hotels:

We loved Beach Club last time we were in WDW in 2015 and we stayed at Fairfield Inn near DL last time we were there.
I am a resort person and I like amenities and the Beach Club was super awesome with the lazy river and the sand bottom swimming area.
We spent lots time on the Boardwalk and just being lazy so this hotel location good for us.

The Fairfield Inn was very close to DL with free parking and had the circular bus that went around the area for couple dollars that I really liked. It wasn't quite as overwhelming as when at WDW.

I hope everyone is doing well and now to try to catch up on others lives.

You have been really busy. And Chick-Fil-A was an excellent idea!

We got up way too early to watch the countdown and launch of Perseverance. A chicken sandwich sounds mighty good. Might have to swing by there later. 😊

@lovemygoofy missed you! Been thinking of you. :goodvibes

Meriweather, I truly hope and pray you and your family enjoy a fantastic cruise next year! ::MickeyMo

Carol, I'm glad you have a trip to look forward to!

That is pretty bad, Easyas123! LOL. But the good part is it is even easier to know it is a spam call.

Hugs, and so good to "see" you again, Tina. please take care!

Gwynne, I hope you do get to also enjoy Chik-Fil-A later on today.

Nice to see you lovemygoofy!

What you described sounds...exhausting. Physically & mentally. No doubt you were a huge help to your SIL!

fried chicken dinner

Ok....SO FUNNY you mentioned fried chicken! It's not on my regular rotation to make because - well, I'm not that good at it. Every once in a while I get some at a take out joint, but not that often. Anyway last night I'm watching my guilty pleasure, David Venabal on QVC, I think it is called Down Home with David. Tons of crap I don't need, kitchenware, food - odds & ends. Anyway, he was hawking a premade fried chicken meal kit thing with country gravy and chicken friend chicken. And my poor husband -who suffered thru scrambled eggs and toast for supper cause neither of us remembered to take anything out for supper last night- was drooling. He woke up this morning talking about fried chicken. So I'm making some fried chicken tonight, too! DON'T JUDGE MY QVC WATCHING:tongue: I swear I don't buy anything (except those holiday candles they had and these neat buckets that one time)

I don't understand though - why is it called chicken fried chicken? It's that redundant?

LOL I have been thinking of making fried chicken for a week now. Every now and then I crave it, but hubby isn't a fan of it. I decided that I am picking up some legs and thighs ( on sale at Aldi's this week), and making myself fried chicken. I will bake him some chicken tenders or a boneless breast! I won't judge your QVC watching if you don't judge my Food Network watching. I just sat thru 2 hours of BBQ Pitmasters and now I am craving ribs, brisket, pork butt and bbq chicken, lol!
