I'm not snacking or watching! I don't have cable...

I have a question of the day request! 4/19: Tell me about your pet(s)! What are they? How did you get them? Something cute about them? Whatever you want!

I have three:
My big boy. Seven years old, tuxedo cat. He is named after a famous crime film character. He was born on my couch! My husband actually rescued his mama, who had been ditched in the parking lot of the hotel where he worked overnights at the time. We planned to foster her and find her a forever home... and then we realized she had stowaways! We kept mama until she had her babies (a total of four) and raised them to twelve weeks. Then everyone went to forever homes.... except my boy, who had latched to my heart with his little claws. He sleeps on me every night, and just about every other opportunity he gets. He is the aforementioned motor brigade - he LOVES to purr, he is almost always purring at me. All I have to do is say "my baaaaby!" and he starts purring. :lovestruc He gently touches our hands with his paw to request treats, and his meows are very expressive.

My little girl. Eight months old, tabby cat. She is named after a modern Disney character, a "descendant" of a much older character. My husband was picking his sister up, and heard a kitten screaming outside. He saw her by herself in the yard of an abandoned house, but left her because he suspected mama cat was nearby and would come back for her. Whe he returned hours later, however, her little cries were still there. She had crawled to the curb, and was horribly hot to touch as this was an August day in Florida. :( Fearing she would either die of heatstroke or get into the road and be run over, he brought her home. I estimate from her size, abilities, and development that she was about 3.5 weeks old. We bottle fed her, and thought we found a forever home for her... until we found out she has a physical defect that makes it harder for her to catch her breath. The home no longer wanted her. So she found forever with us. She can't meow, only "meep", and she trills whenever she jumps up on something as if announcing her arrival. :lovestruc

My scaly boy! A year and a half old, veiled chameleon. He is named after a very obvious 80s pop song. And yes, this is ANOTHER "my husband saved a helpless critter" story! He was at an acquaintance's house when they revealed they had acquired a baby chameleon. When they showed him to him, however, he was horrified. He was in the bottom of a five-gallon bucket with nothing to climb on (terrible for chameleons, who are tree-dwellers and their feet are basically made ONLY for climbing!), no heat source (cold-blooded!), no light source (chameleons require UVB to properly absorb calcium), and apparently starved. He was just a tiny thing, and skeletal. He told them he was taking the chameleon, which they seemed unbothered by. I met him at the pet store, and the moment I saw him I thought he would die. But I wanted to try. I hand-fed him worms and crickets, because he was too weak to move. He is now perfect, healthy, and very big and beautiful! He gets very excited for hornworms, and whenever I get near his cage he reaches for me. :lovestruc

Tell me about those fuzzy/feathery/scaly babies!

Snacks and movies, eh?
Currently there is about 3 lbs of various types of nuts: cashews, Turkish pistachios (different taste than the ones from California), pepitas, almonds, peanuts, etc in the house. Mix that with dried fruit and it's snack time. The dried pineapple chunks are my personal favorites but there's also crasins, apricots, coconut flakes, prunes, and mango.

I bought a plastic bag of popcorn kernels for the first time in ages when this all began but first we have to go through the microwave popcorn the man bought as well. He thought we needed a specialty pan to make the kernels so never opened it :lmao:

We were at the register of a store checking out and the man grabbed a bag of Swedish fish from the impulse shelves "for me" so that's here as well. Tons of chocolate wafers and bars in the fridge hiding in plain sight but but I'm the only one who does (see it) so I dole it out when the house chocoholics have been good, LOL.

Last night, the snacking TV event was "The Roosevelts" part of "The American Experience".

A bowl of homemade ramen noodle soup made a nice filling dinner and took little time:

The man finished off the last of a bag of cookies with vanilla ice cream. I pulled out the tallest glass I could find in the house, threw some cuke spears in, and filled the glass with seltzer. A Mickey Mouse straw made it perfect.

Question of the day: 4/18: Whatcha watching and whatcha snacking on when watching?

I’ve been drawn to older shows lately. Right now, I’m watching The Waltons. - Listening to them talk about war rationing and shortages...it really helps me feel like we‘ll get through these tough times too.

I’m not a TV-linked snacker, but I definitely do better when when I don’t go too long without eating, so we tend to have “threesies” around here - a 3:00pm snack of cheese and crackers, fruit and nuts, something like that.

Much congratulations to your husband, Tina. I love that you had him put on his cap and gown for photos.

Me too!

PBS (I really do love Xavier Riddle - an excellent way to introduce young children to historical figures! How many 4-year-olds know who Winston Churchill and Amelia Earhart are? Mine does ;) )

My little ”niece and nephew” watch that one too. We even made a time line to write the people down on. It’s a great show!

We have two cats, who will be 12 this summer. We've had them since they were about 3 months old - went to the shelter to get one, and came home with two!:cat::cat:

DS picked out the little grey one, but she latched on to me. She's shy around everyone else, but cuddles me on the couch when I watch TV. She thinks she's a bunny, and considers lettuce a treat. She's also a master hider!

DH picked out the tortoiseshell, but she chose DS. She is happier than happy that he's home from college this semester. She's a purr machine, loves to go out on a leash, and tucks me in every night. Her favorite spots are up high or under blankets.

Krispy Kreme original glazed donuts(that hotlight was on outside, I am so weak lol)
And watching the end of first Charlie's Angels about to watch the second one

Add that to the list of things I have never had in my life. We have no Krispy Kremes around here, so I've never seen the hot sign or been able to try one. The other thing I have never tried is coffee, lol!

We don't watch much TV (other than every sporting event) so it has us looking at old things we may have missed. We are in season 5 of The Sopranos; I was too young and we didn't have HBO when it originally came out. Very enjoyable. As for snacks my mom made churros from the Disney recipe online and they came out awesome :)

I wasn't too 'young' when Soprano's came out, but I've never seen an episode in my life!

Watching season 6 of Survivor...OMG, it is soooooo good. And made frozen pizza for dinner. Finished the rum and opened the last bottle of wine :scared1:
Wait until you get to season 40. Its the best! But skip 39 unless you want to feel dirty and sick.

We recently binged all of MOM up until the current season. It took less than 2 weeks for our DVR to patch together the first six season with reruns on various networks. Lots of laughs which were needed. This past week we were good about watching the DVR because I knew we had free HBO this weekend so I recorded a lot of movies. Last night we took a break from our DVR and did a couple of new comedy specials on Netflix then we decided to resurect our Supernatural binge that we started about 5 years ago. We are a couple of episodes into season 2 so maybe we will finish in the next 30 years! LOL I have started a naughty habit of dipping chex mix into pub cheese.

Last night couldn't fall asleep at regular bedtime so stayed up to watch something...came across a moved called 1922 on Netflix which is based off of a Stephen King novella. Wound up watching the whole thing (only planned to watch about 30 minutes of it) and didn't get to bed until almost 2:00 am!! It was interesting but not one of my favorite Stephen King stories.

Eating...well....I have been baking like crazy and eating it like crazy. Aside from baking I made these Rolo/pretzel snacks that I have been eating while watching TV. Used up all the leftover Rolos from Easter.

And my latest baking were these stained glass Mickey cookies that I saw on Instagram.

We have also been doing some puzzles. We found a few in the basement closet that I totally forgot we had. We finished this one yesterday.

Stay safe and well everyone!!!

...if you give your address I can send the man and DGD over to help with excess inventory; they are very useful...

What did you put in the center? Sugar? Do tell please.

No pet to discuss. Ever since May 1982, except for about 10 months in 2007-2008, I have had one or two dogs. Our last one passed this past January. Not ready for another and at 67 years old, newly retired, and wanting to travel with DH, not sure we'll be getting another.

You are supposed to use Jolly Rancher/ or other hard candies that you separate into colors and then crush, I only had some Chupa lollipops around so I used those. You cut out the cookies and then fill the centers with the crushed candy. It melts during cooking and makes the beautiful centers. Make sure you use parchment paper or a silicone mat or they will stick to the pan.

Here is the recipe for the cookies.
