Question for Friday 3/20: What was your favorite tv show as a child? It can be cartoon sitcom or black and white sock puppets. What did you enjoy?

Loved my Saturday morning cartoons! Bugs, Daffy, Elmer Fudd. The Laff-a-lympics. Scooby Doo. Woody Woodpecker. Captain Caveman. Casper. Tom & Jerry. Mighty Mouse. Pink Panther. Jetsons. Yogi Bear. Underdog. Hong Kong Phooey. Grape Ape. Dastardly and Muttly. Bullwinkle and Rockey. It was the only time I was guaranteed to have tv time (except for Christmas shows)! (For the youngsters, we only had one tv with 5 channels...ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS and a UHF station I can barely remember. No remote. And dad was the king of the castle; we watched what he wanted to watch.)

My favorite show as a kid? Wonder Woman. Also Charlie's Angels; wanted to be an angel so much. Soap. Dukes of Hazzard, Love Boat and CHiPS. Little House on the Prairie. Partridge Family. Three's Company (even if I didn't totally understand all the jokes). Happy Days. Mister Rogers Neighborhood. Sesame Street. Electric Company (Spidey was the best).

All these were my favorites too. All those cartoons were rediscovered by my daughter on the Boomerang channel when she was younger. She just found out you can get a boomerang subscription, like Netflix and it has on those shows.

This weekend I'm going to start streaming Alf I think. I loved it as a kid and it just made me laugh. I also going to look for old school Saturday morning cartoons tomorrow and have morning in my pjs watching cartoons I haven't watched in a while. If ya'll have cartoon Saturday morning let me know!
I was a sci-fi kid! Star Trek (in syndication - I'm not quite old enough to have seen it first-run ;)), Battlestar Gallactica (the original with Lorne Greene), Buck Rogers, even Doctor Who was on our PBS station. I also vividly remember watching Mr. Rogers, the Electric Company, the Muppet Show, Dukes of Hazzard, Wonder Woman, the Six Million Dollar Man, the Bionic Woman, the Love Boat, Little House, Happy Days, the Greatest American Hero...I even watched Dallas and Charlie's Angels (I guess a lot of the more suggestive themes went over my head). When I was 10 years old, I loved Miami Vice.

Cartoon-wise, I remember Superfriends, the Smurfs, Scooby-Doo, He-Man and She-Ra, and there was a Dungeons and Dragons one that I liked...

Also as a child, I spent a month every summer with my father in Indiana. He worked and my grandmother wouldn't let me play outside (she was a kook, to put it politely). So I watched a lot of old shows on TV - Twilight Zone, Gilligan's Island, the Monkees, the Addams Family, the Munsters, the Courtship of Eddie's Father, etc.

Happy Spring and Friday to all :) My very favorite TV show as a young child was The Smurfs! I remember that was how I learned that 90 minutes (they were on from 8-9:30am)= an hour and a half. That show was a lovely escape from often unhappy times plus it was fun. I did never like the later episodes just the simpler original. My favorite non cartoon show as I got a little older was probably Family Ties. I loved the show open with the photographs and felt that despite differences that TV family seemed close knit.

Love that idea!

Little House On The Prairie!

That was a favorite of mine, too, along with The Brady Bunch. - I could tell you the episode from the opening shot. :rotfl:

Loved my Saturday morning cartoons!...The Laff-a-lympics. Scooby Doo.

I do have fond Saturday morning memories - blanket forts and all!! I remember both of those shows, as well as Land of the Lost and Sigmund & the Sea Monsters.

The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights.

Definitely another fav!

When I was really young I loved Sharon Lois and Bram. As I got a bit older I fell in love with Star Trek TNG and it is still my all time favorite show, I just finished watching the whole series through late last year.

I am so glad it is Friday, my job is so busy and chaotic right now I need some down time.

Batman: The Animated Series
The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show
G I Joe
Transformers
Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends
Blossom (crushed on the star)
My Two Dads (crushed on the star)

Lots of other stuff. I watched a lot of tv as a kid.

Everyone in my company across the world is now being told to work from home until early April. Previously it was "strongly suggested" until the end of next week, now everybody is supposed to work from home except specific people, and they extended it two weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if it extends again.

Today's dinner is zuppa toscana.

A new episode of The Clone Wars dropped this morning. Going to watch that eventually. Might pick another 2019 movie on Amazon Prime to watch. Maybe Harriet.

I'm listening to DParks radio right now. I like listening to the Background music of the parks. :) I have it on an app and listen via bluetooth, so I don't know if they have a website in order to listen on the computer.

How was your zoom meeting? Did ya'll do well?
I have "Zoomed" twice now, WW and a church worship team meeting. Which brings me to.......
I think I am going to make the name cards for Easter today
Our church has switched to all online services until at least May 9, hence the meeting above. Sad to miss but the right decision. I saw a meme about "Where are you celebrating Easter? The family room or the bedroom."
On the sad side my neighbor of 29 years passed yesterday at home. It is devastating for his family, of course, but he was also a wonderful person loved by all. He was just 62.
So young and so sad.
Lassie and My Favorite Martian
How did I forget Lassie. And Romper Room and Captain Kangaroo.

Thanks to all me new virtual friends for being here.

Question of the day: Oh you guys are going to get my exact age here but it was a tie. Either Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because I loved Donatello, or Darkwing Duck because he had some phenomenal villains! I mean there was the nineties Spidey cartoon too but it had some low points with certain villains. Maybe I'll break one of these out and watch them, I just finished the 1980's She-ra cartoon!

So sorry everyone is dealing with so many cancellations. Sending hugs to you all <3

Plus side is they FINALLY closed down my mother's workplace for a while. She works at a Victoria's Secret call center. Greedy company was keeping a call center of possibly 600 people open even after the governor said no unneeded gatherings. She's a cancer survivor so I'm SO glad she's home now.

My favorite TV show when I was younger came on before "Davy and Goliath" and "The 4H Club". It was a wordless cartoon that featured a spaceman with a gyro for legs and maybe a caveman too. I don't remember the name of it and wish I could find out what it was.

I think I finally got the knack of what to serve DGD for lunch. To date she's been eating leftovers like a slice of pizza, soups, manicotti, etc. However I've pretty much cleaned the fridge out of the bits and pieces of other meals so decided to make her a charcuterie type plate which is notable for having no cheese or olives since she doesn't like them.
It consisted of hummus, an assortment of nuts and dried fruit, sliced cukes, slices of soppressata (a type of dry salami), a rice cake broken into thirds, grapes and raw pea pods (I'd steam them but she likes them raw 🤷‍♀️ ). She's munching on seconds of it now (anything to keep her out of the bag of Doritos her grandfather"snuck" in for her and while she's eaten the dried apricots, mango slices and pineapple, is turning her nose up on the raisins and cranberries. Too bad for her since the craisins and raisins are already mixed in but I'm sure someone will eat her leftovers;).

Breakfast has been a steady diet of smoothies which works well for the school week since it allows her to sleep later, and me to sneak in the juices she refuses to drink on their own: pomegranate, sour black cherry, and unsweetened cranberry. Win/win. Next week, I'll probably throw some breakfast parfaits into the mix; same ingredients for the most part but different textures.

Dinner tonight, will be one of the pork tenderloins I marinated earlier in the week and froze.
This is the recipe I used:

http://www.ouichefnetwork.com/2011/01/ming-tsais-pork-tenderloin-with-five-spice-apples.html
Modifications: used a Korean pear instead of apples; takeout whipped sweet potatoes are on hand but too much added sugar in 'em so I'm adding a mashed white potato to it with appropriate seasonings. Substituting garlic chives for the regular ones. No one will want the chile oil but me so I'll just sprinkle a little sriracha atop my plate.

Not making any dessert tonight since I figure I've the weekend for that. A pot of fresh made popcorn would go well with a movie this evening.

Glad to see someone else enjoyed Punky. I was close to my Grandpa and loved seeing a TV show with a positive Grandfather character.

:) Love the idea to watch some cartoons right now for fun and lightening of mood. Besides Smurfs, I loved the original Scooby Doo, Where Are You?, Flintstones and Jetsons and a little later He-Man.
