Question for Friday 3/20: What was your favorite tv show as a child? It can be cartoon sitcom or black and white sock puppets. What did you enjoy?
My favorite TV show when I was younger came on before "Davy and Goliath" and "The 4H Club". It was a wordless cartoon that featured a spaceman with a gyro for legs and maybe a caveman too. I don't remember the name of it and wish I could find out what it was.
I think I
finally got the knack of what to serve DGD for lunch. To date she's been eating leftovers like a slice of pizza, soups, manicotti, etc. However I've pretty much cleaned the fridge out of the bits and pieces of other meals so decided to make her a charcuterie type plate which is notable for having no cheese or olives since she doesn't like them.
It consisted of hummus, an assortment of nuts and dried fruit, sliced cukes, slices of soppressata (a type of dry salami), a rice cake broken into thirds, grapes and raw pea pods (I'd steam them but she likes them raw

). She's munching on seconds of it now (anything to keep her out of the bag of Doritos her grandfather"snuck" in for her and while she's eaten the dried apricots, mango slices and pineapple, is turning her nose up on the raisins and cranberries. Too bad for her since the craisins and raisins are already mixed in but I'm sure
someone will eat her leftovers

.
Breakfast has been a steady diet of smoothies which works well for the school week since it allows her to sleep later, and me to sneak in the juices she refuses to drink on their own: pomegranate, sour black cherry, and unsweetened cranberry. Win/win. Next week, I'll probably throw some breakfast parfaits into the mix; same ingredients for the most part but different textures.
Dinner tonight, will be one of the pork tenderloins I marinated earlier in the week and froze.
This is the recipe I used:

Modifications: used a Korean pear instead of apples; takeout whipped sweet potatoes are on hand but too much added sugar in 'em so I'm adding a mashed white potato to it with appropriate seasonings. Substituting garlic chives for the regular ones. No one will want the chile oil but me so I'll just sprinkle a little sriracha atop my plate.
Not making any dessert tonight since I figure I've the weekend for that. A pot of fresh made popcorn would go well with a movie this evening.
