Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

GAH! Why won't this site post photos correctly from a mobile device??

My favorite show as a really little kid was Punky Brewster.

Glad to see someone else enjoyed Punky. I was close to my Grandpa and loved seeing a TV show with a positive Grandfather character.

Glad to see some fellow Punky fans! I actually have a DVD of 8 episodes that I sometimes watch when I need a TV pick-me-up.

Hi all, might as well jump in.

I live in Arizona and have always loved Disneyland. I joined the DIS while I was going through a divorce, and stumbled on the trip planning thread for the upcoming "DIS Divas" group that was scheduled for the following February. I got my courage up and joined and went on that trip and have gone for 7 years now I think.

I have two boys of my own (13 and 15) and have since remarried and have 2 more stepsons (15 and 22).

I've binge watched Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and more recently started binge watching Downton Abbey. Two completely different series and yet both completely engrossing!

I saw in another thread - someone mentioned re watching the Waltons - might put that on my "list".

We both have a lot going on tomorrow, but we've already decided to take a "mental health moment" and no matter what we are doing we are going to stop working by late afternoon, shower up, jammie up, and belly up. I'm going to make a salt, warm, calorie laden comfort supper of turkey noodle dish, a dessert to be determined, and a we are going to watch the original Death at a Funeral.

And drink some wine!

I am not sure why but I too liked the Love Boat! I never did watch the Waltons, might have to check that out. I more remember knowing there were after school specials than the content lol. I am old enough to remember Disney Sunday movie and I think one time it was Flight of the Navigator which was fun. Great ideas for nostalgia and checking out some new/old shows :)

I loved The Love Boat. I also enjoyed Gilligan's Island.
When I think about it now it's sorta funny. I grew up in the landlocked midwest.

Me too and me too! Probably at least a little responsible for my wanting to live on the coast. The people that lived behind us had a Mimosa tree and they always seemed so tropical to me. I would take the branches and put them on top of my jungle gym to make a midwest tiki hut so I could pretend I was stranded on a island. LOL

As people keep commenting and I keep thinking me too I realize I may have watched a tad too much TV. Although whenever the weather was nice I know my butt was outside playing so I guess maybe we had a lot more bad weather than Im remembering?!

Favorite TV shows... Patty Duke Show, Bachelor Father, Family Affair, Gilligan's Island, Lost in Space, Addams Family.

Today was a good day. DD is here (came up last weekend to stay with friends, her school closed so she is still here staying with them) so she and I went for a drive. Ended up in Bar Harbor. Did a take-out lunch, drove around MDI a bit, walked on the beach for awhile. Not too many people around or out; it was a chilly day (overcast, wore our winter coats) but it was good to be out of the house, spending time together. After she went back to her friends' home, DH and I went for a walk around town. We are trying to do that every day, as the gym is closed and it's just good to get out of the house. We saw several neighbors; we all waved and chatted from a safe distance. Dinner tonight was fish that I bought in Bar Harbor. I made a bed of cut-up Swiss chard with onions and garlic, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze. I laid the fish on this, spread Trader Joe's Italian pesto on top, and sprinkled on some bread crumbs. Served it with mashed potatoes. OHGosh, was it good! Dessert is happening now- it's lemon meringue pie I made a couple of days ago. I like it better now than I did when I made it!

I am debating going back to southern Maine to spend more time with my sister. I was with them just two days ago, and everyone has been either isolating or practicing SafeSocial, so I am not worrying too much. As I mentioned before, she's struggling, and could use the moral support. On the other hand, I have work to do here. Yes, I'm working remotely so could theoretically work from her house, but somehow that never works out in real life, hahaha. So we'll see.

I didn’t really watch much tv but I’d have to say Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys. Also Charlie’s Angels. I’m very much a planner and a list maker. So I find myself, during the day, thinking what I should get for this person’s birthday or that person’s wedding shower. Then I remember “ oh ya, we can’t go out.” I’m curious if some of these weddings we’re invited to will be postponed. Trying to stay positive! I made a big pot of chili since it’s cooler again. We ate it tonight and we’ll have it one more time this weekend. The rest will go in the freezer.

H. R. Puffinstuff , Sigmund and the sea monster, land of the lost, ....Saturday mornings, though rather narcissist of me. I would take the lunchbox to school.....because my very rare last name was embossed on the metal lunch box, no marker or gym tape, there it was on the box. 40 years later I sold that Saturday morning TV show collection as I had to downsize to move to my desert home......$2,000.00....all because my last name was on the many Saturday morning TV shows in the early 70s. I am just glad that my last name wasn't Disney.

We didn't get a television at home until I was about 11 y/o so there are shows I saw when I visited my grandparents or friends but really didn't watch much with regularity.
We did however almost always live within 2 blocks of a library so that's where much of our quiet time was spent. Great for developing an appreciation of the written word:).

I still find joy reading of the shows others enjoyed on a regular basis and some I recognize from my childrens' upbringing. They loved "Gigantor" (I can still recall the words to the opening tune, LOL), "Transformers", and "Knight Rider". And one loved various nature shows which guided him in his career choice.

Good Morning Dis World and Welcome to Self Care Saturday (I like themes and alliteration)

Saturday is usually chaos for so many that have crammed jammed lives and now we are at stop. For some that is good and for some that is not. It's self care Saturday for you and your family. It's been whirlwind week or more and let's take today to breathe. Think about the successes we had this week. We will take the wins where we can get them even if we didn't throw a ravioli can at someone's head.
How does it work when all stuck together? What about giving time slots to people in the house for activity of their choosing either alone or with the family? I know I'll be playing video games by the end of the day. We have ton variety of game things (stations? consoles??) But it is one his healthy outlets and I know he likes when I play because I don't know what the heck I am doing and he laughs. Or give yourself grace and have cereal for dinner tonight but throw in the fruit to feel better about such dinner. (I'm probably speaking from experience of thousand cereal and banana dinners). We are having frozen pizza and salad and I'm making beer cheese dip with baked pretzels. Saturday my gourmet kitchen is closed.

One thing we undervalue and underutilize is laughter and smiling. As much as he drives me crazy, my Matt makes me laugh and can smile quicker than anyone. And it helps we have odd sense of humor. Talk to someone that makes you smile, talk to someone that makes you laugh or try to get someone to smile and laugh. It is healing for the soul.

For those that are taking walks in the neighborhood, ours started something fun yesterday putting up fun cartoon pictures, inspirations or just kids' drawing in the windows that can be seen from the sidewalk for those out on walks or drives. I understand some are planning sidewalk chalk art show soon. That would be fun some to fun outlets together.

So how's everyone doing? We are in this together..let's hear some updates.
