Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good Monday morning. ☂️ Supposed to rain all week, it did rain overnight so we'll see about during the day.

Had a good weekend at work, not too busy. We had a cute couple who didn't find out if they were having a boy or a girl so it was exciting when she delivered. His family wanted to go see them but they had to wait a little longer. I had to be careful what I said so I didn't let it slip what they had (a boy). 👶

I have a workout scheduled for noon today. I haven't been in almost 2 weeks so hopefully I can keep up.

My sister returned from her cruise last week and 9 out of 11 people in their group all tested COVID+, unfortunately her and bil tested +.

Today is dil's b-day, I guess we'll go to dinner next weekend.:cake:

AuntieMe3 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :bday:

That's it for me today, need to start working :sad1:. Have a great day! :thumbsup2

Good morning y'all. Rained lightly last nite, and it's very very humid out right now. Calling for mid 80's, but with the humidity it's going to be just as bad as it has the last 4 days. another day where I won't be going outside much. Already checked the garden, picked another batch of cherry tomatoes, and checked on the 4 big ones that are ripening. They are ripening fast!

@frog3101 --saying prayers that the judge reads everything today, and starts thinking about delivering a positive outcome for you.

Nothing new to report on here, same old same old.

Have a nice morning,,back later to check in

DH and I are headed south to San Diego for the weekend
Have fun! We are headed there ourselves for the first time later next month. It's a work trip, but we added a bit of extra time, we've always wanted to check out the area. Staying in the Coronado area.
If praying isn't your thing, I ask you do whatever you do to please let the judge see him for what he really is. The judge reads them Monday and there will prob be a temporary ruling by Thursday. I am nauseous pretty much all the time.
You got it. I think these judges have seen a lot, and are good at reading past the BS. Fingers crossed it works out.
Please stay safe and take care, dear Quackers. Covid is sure on the rise here, too as I have said. So sad all-around.
We've had a few folks here at work get it, even folks who have managed to stay clear of it until now. Luckily everyone who gets it has been vaccinated and it's been a real mild case.
I am typing on a new laptop now.
I am in need of a new laptop, I've just been lazy about shopping for one. I'm not good w/ computers.
Joe was in good spirits today and his whole attitude is just so much better. His anxiety is gone and he is feeling safe and secure. The people who work in the hospice are so kind.
That is great to read...while I've never had the experience of a family member being in hospice, I have read so many stories of the comfort and help they provide and the
difference it makes in the lives of the hospice patients. Those hospice nurses really know their stuff.
So, stickers, anyone?!
I'm good, thanks. How about donating them to a local elementary school? Or a local pediatric hospital?
I found Nathan's onion rings but the slot for fries was empty. So, had rice and salad with the fish.
If you are a onion ring person, those are pretty good as well! Rice, salad & fish is one of our go-to's. In fact, probably have it this evening.
BLT salad
I'm intrigued by this, wasn't familiar with it. I googled a few recipes and it looks pretty good! Do you make yours with or without pasta? I think I may make this soon -
I miss having a grill. I may need to break down and buy a small one.
Our grill blew up this past week, luckily this time of year places like Lowes & Home Depot start to put their grills on sale/clearance. I'll have to keep my eyes open because we are year - round grillers and already miss not having one.
I think the big black bear is prowling around at night.
Oh - EVERYTIME my husband goes up there he sees bears, whereas I've never once seen a bear in the wild. I don't doubt if I lived up there I would not appreciate them prowling through my yard, but I would like to see one sometime.
Getting him ready to fly to Brazil on his own in the next year or two, so trying to prepare him.
We have been fortunate to travel a lot, and so have our kids. We started when they were young. We had a connection thru MIA and so we just sent them on ahead of us, gave one them my cell phone and my husband and I trailed back 5 minutes or so while they navigated security and found the gate for our flight. They might have been 10 & 8? I can't recall....BUT we knew they'd soon be in situations where they would have opportunities to travel w/o us and we wanted them to be able to navigate it all on their own.
I've worked DS hard this week - we filled, transported, and spread 10 bags of river rock in the front yard for a walkway,
Looks good! We were just talking about a future landscape idea we have for our back yard, and it's going to involve some zeroscaping for sure.
I organized the pots and pans cabinet and the Tupperware cabinet. Took stuff I rarely use to shelves in the basement so I can see what is in the cabinet.
I cleaned out my closet this weekend, and I really need to move on to the kitchen. I got rid of some clothes, but in all honesty I could have been a lot less conservative with what I tossed. I'll need to thin it out more.

Good morning everyone, finally caught up on here! I'm sure I missed someone/thing -sorry about that!

Not much new to report, got our mowing done this weekend and didn't do a whole lot else. Friday after work I picked up what groceries I needed. As I mentioned up thread, our grill died a horrible death and so we are on the hunt for a new one. Also shopping for a pellet stove so I have a sneaking suspicion that we may be shopping for both this coming weekend!

I saw a pair of shoes, a brand new style of a brand I'm particularly fond of...I may or may not have bought 7 pairs of their shoes earlier this year all at one time when I made the mistake of stopping at their factory store! Anyway, I hemmed & hawed and finally decided to get them for myself last night. They were sold out already :( I shouldn't have waited, so know I guess I'll watch the site to see if they are back in stock anytime, or email them and see if they have a wait list. I had even picked out the pair of shoes I was going to get rid of (I try to stay to a get one - get rid of one method when buying shoes & clothes)! Cest la vie

I should probably do something productive - have a good day everyone.

@AuntieMe3 Happy birthday!
Aww, so sorry you got so seasick, taz! So disappointing! I was so afraid of that - heck, I get seasick just on little boats! But, knock on wood, I never did, on four cruises. Granted, we were in the Caribbean, and the captains always said they try to find calm waters, which, for the most part, they did. That could be the one thing that causes me hesitation about an Alaska cruise! (Or European, which is on our Bucket List.) But it sounds like you at least had some good moments, would love to see the necklaces! Blue diamond and diamond sounds really pretty! Way to go, Jim! :goodvibes

I can beat that, @Pea-n-Me ...I get seasick watching boats on tv! DH laughs at me, when we watch Deadliest Catch, because I have to be on my kindle or phone, and not really watching the show...because when I do, I get nauseous!

Was a bit busy yesterday. DS had gone over to his BFF's on Saturday (we dropped him off, and did a quick stop at Whole Foods on the way home (where we haven't been in about 8 years, was very disappointed with the quality and service). I had to go pick up DS yesterday, and had to stop at Publix for produce and dairy stuff; plus a stop at Home Depot because when someone (me) was showering yesterday morning, someone (me) broke the handle on the shower and it wouldn't turn off! DH had to take the handle off and turn the knob part with a pair of pliers. :rotfl:I had to go get a new handle at HD. LOL

I made meatloaf, mashed potatoes and salad for dinner last night; tonight is curried chicken thighs w/onion and peppers; basmatic rice or couscous (not sure which yet) and roasted cauliflower or broccoli (still deciding).

Remember how I was talking about a vacation? I had settled in on driving to TN, and getting a cabin in the mountains for a week. Well, DH has thrown all caution out the window and has planned a trip for us. We are hoping that for the next 5 weeks, there aren't any lockdowns due to political unrest or pandemics, and no hurricanes....in 3 1/2 weeks, DH and I are going to.....San Ignacio, Belize, for 9 nights! 😲😲😲😲 Our first trip out of the US. No beaches for us, and we're hoping to avoid major crowds this way. We are planning on seeing 2 or 3 of the Mayan ruins that are there, and a tubing trip down a river, maybe one through a cave, and other than that, we are not making any plans. Staying here: Black Rock Lodge . Driving down to Orlando, parking the car, and flying from Orlando to Belize City and renting a car; driving to San Ignacio; that way we don't have to rely on tours or whatever to go do what we want.

I've ordered us LifeStraw water bottles, water shoes, headlamps, passport holders and shorts; more shoes and a couple of cool sundresses for me, and a bigger Frio wallet for DH's insulin; DH is buying us a Go Pro or a camera of some sort, and a safety travel bag to hold important stuff while we're, well, traveling; and we have to make appointments to get tetanus and flu shots for both of us, and maybe yellow fever and typhoid, if the doctor says they are needed. I need to get bar soap and bar shampoo for me, first aid/medication supplies, and....well, everything for travel, lol. If anyone has any travel tips there (or for traveling abroad), I'll take 'em!

I've got to get moving on all this, so y'all have a good day!

Hello all, I haven’t posted in awhile but have been reading everyday. Our family bon fire went well, nice to visit with some we haven‘t seen since Covid.

I spent two days wedding dress shopping with our DD. They have decided to have a short engagement and will be married in Dec. They haven’t said so but I know it’s because of her Dad’s condition😒. Anyway, she has decided on having a custom made dress. Can’t believe the cost of dresses!

Both DH and I have been pretty down lately. I know he is feeling worse, but he won’t say too much. He has Chemo later today.

🎂. Happy Birthday, Auntieme3! Hope you are having a lovely celebration!

Frog… Praying that things get resolved soon in your children’s favor. Stay strong

B&B. That sounds like an amazing trip

Snowysmom… I always keep you in my special prayers.

Pea… love to hear of your patient interactions.. you are a true blessing to those you serve.

Kirby… I pray the time goes fast until Lil Joe is back home.

Ooh that sounds like a great adventure, B&B! I don’t have many travel tips but I did get a catalog in the mail that I was reading yest called Magellen (the traveler) which had a lot of travel supplies. Keep us in the loop!

I'm intrigued by this, wasn't familiar with it. I googled a few recipes and it looks pretty good! Do you make yours with or without pasta? I think I may make this soon -
We use the one with the curly pasta. It also has Romaine, red onion, grape tomatoes, cheese, bacon, mayo and ranch dressing. I think you’ll like it!

DS offered to buy me and DD lunch today, he is off work and went out golfing early. Looking forward to seeing what I get and saying hi to him, he is almost always on the run!

Awesome! I love a impromptu adventure in a new place! We are 101 days from our next trip and the time is going sooooo slow! Have fun!

and Happy Birthday AuntieMe party: party: party:

I will be giving those to each family this Christmas.
Such a wonderful gift - I'm sure the GK will love them. Are they the Lionel trains? We picked up a set of O gauge to run around the tree, but at the time, we had no idea about the history. It's quite a story!
Dad is finding prices keep going up while stock goes down
It's become the post-covid mantra - "supply chain issues". It's shocking how quickly one can go from feeling comfortable to being stretched when the mortgage/rent goes up AND gas, food, and everything else goes up.
I have a workout scheduled for noon today. I haven't been in almost 2 weeks so hopefully I can keep up.
Good for you!!! Showing up is the hard part, isn't it? Inertia is the heaviest weight - keeping up is just icing on the cake!
Good morning everyone, finally caught up on here! I'm sure I missed someone/thing -sorry about that!
Wow - that has to be the most thorough response post I've read! Very thoughtful ♥️
DH and I are going to.....San Ignacio, Belize, for 9 nights!
AWESOME!!! Well - sure beats Tennessee! I look forward to the photos!
I trailed back 5 minutes or so while they navigated security and found the gate for our flight
Such a good idea - I'm trying to plan extra time for events so that I'm not rushed and can give DS the responsibility (I put the London tube map on his phone and he was in charge of navigation for that aspect of the trip). I'm the consummate planner, so usually am in the lead. This trip to WDW, I'll follow your lead and give him his passport, nexus, and the tickets, and he'll have to lead ME through everything.

@frog3101 - thinking about you today and hoping that the process feels fair and you will find some peace. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this.

Packing to leave and head up north tomorrow - DS will be on his own for this week. He said he's pretty excited and while he'd like it if his father would come over and BBQ or even stay the night, he'd rather sleep in his own bed every night. Fledging... my friends are encouraging me to start dating so that the empty nest won't feel so... empty.

It must feel somewhat bittersweet to be planning a wedding now, under the circumstances. I can understand why your DD wanted to do it that way. I’m sure it will be hard on you in some ways, but hopefully it can bring you some joy, as well. Looking forward to hearing more about it. And I’m glad you enjoy my stories. :goodvibes Thank you.

I thought Sunshine the Golden retriever was adorable, Carol! :dogdance:Just like the dog Christmas in a Veteran's Christmas. I think I liked goldens from watching Brandon as a kid on Punky Brewster. Yellow Labs look friendly, always, too. I once had a HUGE Gund stuffed animal dog that looked sort of Golden-ish. I gave it along with smaller version of the same stuffed friend to a church family with three little girls several years ago. I hope you enjoyed the movie, my friend. A few minutes toward the end of Christmas in Toyland was enough for me!

LOVE your birthday greeting to AuntieMe3, PollyannaMom, how fun! May your DH enjoy his new📺

Keep cool please, Pea:sunny:I well remember back in 2020 the months dad and I were without A/C. There was one long weekend when we both, especially my poor dad (I remember feeling awful about that) were affected by the heat. I do remember there were cooling centers but that was also near the beginning of the pandemic and IIRC, they weren't too close to us either. You enjoy a quieter day! Aw, just saw your later post. Another cute birthday greeting! I'll have to add one in a few minutes :)

Judique, wishing you a peaceful Monday🌸

Happy Birthday 🎂to your DIL, Footballmouse, enjoy a celebration with her to come. Thank you, always, for the loving care you give to so many people at your hospital. Truly you and Pea are an inspiration. I love that the couple waited until their son arrived to find out he was a boy. God Bless him and his family.

:hug:Lynn. Sometimes, especially these days, the same old is a good thing as you well know. I love the spring-y pooh: picture this morning. Wishing you and Mr. L, a good day.

I'm sorry you missed getting your shoes, Easyas👟🥿 I didn't know what kind you were hoping to get thus the two different images. Please stay safe especially with all the work-related travel you do! Thank you for the sticker suggestions! I would love to somehow give some to kids at a hospital. I'll have to keep that in mind. For now, some stickers will go to Carol's church to the Children's Ministry (thank you again Carol for asking for me) That brings me such joy do get to do something in a way for Carol and also for kids attending a church I have so come to be thankful for during the pandemic. I'm also going to send some to a friend who participates in Chemo Angels. Michelle sends cards to so many people going through chemo to offer faith, friendship, and encouragement. Whenever I am able to in a tiny way through extra stationary supplies help her with this, is such a blessing to me. Waiting to here from a couple people here at home. Thankful to God for enabling me to pass on these stickers so that they might be of good service to come and spread joy :)

WOW, B&B! What an adventure you and your DH will have! Good for you! Enjoy every minute! PLEASE stay safe and have a wonderful time. I absolutely look forward to seeing some pictures and hearing all about your travels. ✈️

:grouphug:Dazed and much continued prayer to you and your family that is for sure! Thank you for checking in. Missed you!

Kirby, always keeping you and your family in much prayer as well, you know that.

Good to see you post Bobbiwoz, thinking of you and sending a

:grouphug:Canadisney Fly, proud of you for taking your trip! Have a safe and wonderful time! Definitely please take some pictures. I'm so glad you joined our Quacker family. That is it exactly about the supply chain! It is sad all-around that is for sure.

A ton of loving prayer to you Frog! Stand strong, no you walk in and with Truth and also that by God's Grace we care and are supporting you, too :grouphug:

Prayers you have a peaceful Monday, Snowysmom

Happy Birthday AuntieMe3

Dad is out right now at a few places all in the same strip mall center including a Dollar Tree and Target. Speaking of Target, before I forget, Targe Circle, has an offer (you need to add it to your account) for $10 off one in store or online purchase of $50 or more through August 26th. We don't usually spend that much at Target. Although these days, it is all too easy to get up near close to $40 at Target so if he did, he might as well get an extra $10 for free. We'll see what he finds.

Happy Monday to all!

Well what do you know...pouring rain started around 9, with some thunder. For the last hour, it's just a nice light steady rain, the kind we need for about 2 weeks, lol! Like a steambath out there though. Didn't want to stay out too long, or my new hairstyle would be a frizzy mess, lol

Have fun! We are headed there ourselves for the first time later next month. It's a work trip, but we added a bit of extra time, we've always wanted to check out the area. Staying in the Coronado area.

If you go early enough, to the Cornado beach area, you might be lucky enough to see some Marines out running PT....😇

On the grill front: have you looked at Blackstones? They are pricey, but have a great reputation. DH wants one, and a green egg, and a regular grill too. LOL We do need another infrared oil-less fryer.

I cleaned out my closet this weekend, and I really need to move on to the kitchen. I got rid of some clothes, but in all honesty I could have been a lot less conservative with what I tossed. I'll need to thin it out more.

I cleaned out the house before the move a couple of years ago; and again with the move to this house. I bought new pots and pan and dishes, and I have a box of the old stuff to run up to Goodwill or put out for freecycle or something.

I need to go get my hair cut either next weekend or the weekend after. I think I'm going to throw myself on the mercy of the stylist, and ask them for something easy and short, because of the trip. Last year, I went chin length, with longer layers to help manage the 'poofy' and thickness, so maybe that again. Frizziness is a way of life in FL, lol.

@dazedx3 I hope things go smoothly for the wedding. Wedding dresses are outrageously priced. Both girls hit the clearance racks for theirs; DD#1's was $500 and DD#2's was $350. Hope your DH is doing better; remember you have to take time for you-care too. Mental health is as important as physical, especially when dealing with a medical situation.

@footballmouse Any steps towards a better us are good steps!

It's on the list to check out. My issue is we keep it on our upper porch, near back door to kitchen and the area isn't super big - plus my husband has his smoker there, too. But it may just fit...

Does anyone have a Blackstone? Was it difficult to go from a "regular" grill to one of those?

Check on the Dis camping board. They love them over there, lol.
