@PollyannaMom !
. Isn't JIF the only one recalled?

Stepdaughter is still on her bad luck streak. She got stung by a bee on Sunday. Sent me a pic of her right hand (same arm that she had the shoulder surgery on), and it was so swollen it didn't look like a hand. She couldn't even bend her fingers. She went to Urgent Care. Dr says she got an infection in it? I have never heard of getting any kind of infection from a bee sting. They gave her some antibiotics and prescribed an epi pen which she had to get today, as her pharmacy was out of them.
My guess is people are buying up all the other brands, because of the recall.

I'm allergic to bees; the last time I was stung, I got a welt about the size of two hands where I was stung on the side of my rib cage, along with a rash that wrapped my entire torso, from armpit to hip. Started swelling, was cellulitis. Had to take anitbiotics. I'm also allergic to latex; had to wear latex gloves for work fo r a week because we were out of nonlatex. (food service, had to wear, no other option) Reaction kicked my psorasis into gear, and I ended up with cellulitis in both hands; more antibiotics. Now I avoid touching latex and bees as much as possible, lol. Hope your SD gets better soon.

@flyingdumbo127 glad your dad found shoes. I love Sketchers; it's what I wear almost exclusively. Gas is about $4.63 by us; but on the north side of Jax, it is up to $5.85 in some spots. DH says if it hits $5.50, he'll just start WFH at least 3 days a week; only going in on Tuesdays to do meetings and one other day to do assessments. (He does a working assessment of potential drafters/designers; he gives them a series of things to do, and they have 2-3 hours to complete them; then he reports his opinion to HR. HR factors his assessment in when they make the hiring decision.)

@PollyannaMom That sucks. :(

@tazdev3225 busy week for you. Mask up, so you can get on that boat!

@frog3101 I'm with every one else. Unless you are getting anything out of cleaning the house, stop. Don't put extra work into things that aren't going to benefit you and the kids. I'm going to also say, maybe you do need to sit down with the kids, and let them know that dad and mom are going to be seeing other people, and that they will meet some of them; and that it is ok. Your ex isn't going to stop bringing the gf around, it is obvious; I would save the energy for fighting the bigger battles. Maintain your focus on keeping things calm for your kids.
------------------------------------------
Anyways, lazy day today. I took a Zyrtec early this am because I was so congested (head and ears). Knocked me out for about 4 hours, lol; I usually take them late afternoon, so I just get tired for bed. Now, I'm going to be up all night. LOL.

Tonight we are having Roasted poblanos stuffed with ground turkey and topped with cheese. Hello Fresh sent me turkey instead of pork for one of the meals on accident, oops. It'll still be good.

Other than that, nothing new here. My arm is feeling much better; I slept with a pillow under it last night, and have had it propped up on another while on the computer, so I guess that helped keep it elevated and took some pressure off it. Still sore, so still taking it easy. I did sweep and mop most of the house today, because I can do it with my left hand; also cleaned my bathroom one handed (skipped the big tub, that can wait until I'm feeling 100%)). I just need to clean the hall bath, and sweep/mop it and the bedrooms.

have a good day, y'all.

Frog :grouphug: I hope you can find some comfort in being with family and friends during this tough time. You are a strong person. I hope you can get some comfort and sleep soon. I hope mediation goes well.

Lynn Your poor stepdaughter. She just does not have any luck. I hope it changes soon.

PollyannaMom Sorry your DH has covid. I hope he feels better soon.

Another working day and walking day. I talked to my good friend who is always there for me. She so understands and listens to me. I appreciate her so much. I was looking at Disney cruises today, not sure why but I got this need to look. I didn't think I had anyone to go with me. I can't go alone as Chris and I always went together. She said she would be interested. Her younger son loves Disney and has done cruises so I think she wants to take one. I was looking at 2023 so maybe we can get together on a date and make it happen. I see her in a couple of weeks and will bring it up. I do hope to be able to go to WDW myself at some point after our family trip in Oct. As I sais before, I do plan on going off by myself during the Oct trip to see how it feels. She is not too interested in WDW.

Have a good night.

:grouphug:big-time dear Taz, PLEASE take care of you! Have some down time! I am very glad to read following the rest of your busier times you will indeed be getting much-needed R&R. Praise God all the extra for your happier updates and plans to come. Reading those, bring me joy especially as you sure need some HAPPY moments.

🙏:hug:extra and continuing, B&B. You are in my prayers! Take care! I'm glad you also like Skechers. Dad's feet (and my own) can be picky shoe-wise. Skecher's generally work well for us both. Eek to your own gas prices. I'm sorry they are so high out there. Prices on everything keep climbing out here though that's for sure :(

That sounds like a lovely future plan, Snowysmom 🛳️

I'm extra grateful for a bunch of happy 💌today. As always, to all of dear you, please PM me if you'd like a surprise postcard or card from CA. PO reminder that prices will go up again on July 10th. I'll be getting extra stamps ahead of time.

We are having a thunderstorm now with a gentle rain.

DH tested positive for covid, so our weekend trip to upstate NY is canceled.
That is too bad. I hope he doesn't get too sick and recovers quickly.

I am worrying about needing to take a covid test 3 days before we leave. I don't know where to get it since websites aren't co-operating.
You are near Philadelphia, right? Try Curative. We have used them multiple times in Delaware. It's free and you make an appointment online. I did see some in Philly.

I am actually in Philadelphia. I looked and there is one by the Phillies stadium which would work out well. I can get my husband to pick up his give aways from a friend and go to Terminis Italian bakery for a cannoli. Thanks for the tip

Good beautiful morning everyone. It's 70 now, going to 73 (or so they say), bright sunshine and nice breeze. Around 6 last nite, out of nowhere, it started dumping down rain. Lasted about 15 minutes, then the sun came back out again. I am going to weedwack this morning and run the tiller down between the rows in the garden. It mixes up the soil and aerates it, gets rid of the weeds, and I like the way it looks after I do it..lol

No other plans for the day that I can think of

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Rainy morning here. Today's kitty report consists of sitting on the porch:
View attachment 675035
She seems quite fascinated by the sound.

Love the kitty photos! My DD's big orange cat that has come to live with me wants to wander out onto my deck. He's not an outdoor cat but he is curious. Plus I feed KittyKitty the outdoor cat on my deck also in an alcove. So he sees all that through the window. Maybe he wants to taste KK's food?

Went out to my patio for coffee around 5:45 and also fed the birds. Forgot to apply my topical med and then started weeding. Came back in around 7:30am.

While birdwatching I saw a strange to me, bird. Mostly grayish with a lighter colored and rounded head, black and slightly stubby beak, darker tail feathers and maybe dark legs. I'm guessing it's a female and I just haven't paired it with it's partner yet. Still trying to identify. I also saw more female red-winged blackbirds. Silly me - for a long time I didn't recognize these as they look so unlike the males.

A doe came jumping into the backyard down at the boundary fence. It saw me and tried standing still and staring, to pretend it wasn't really there. Eventually I got up and moved towards it to make it go away as I knew it was trying to outlast me to get to some tasty bites in my and my neighbor's yards.

Back inside and started the dishwasher which I should have ran last night. Electricity rates are cheaper over night. That part is not a big deal to me but it does reduce the load on the whole structure if you schedule some jobs for overnight as opposed to the hottest part of the day.

Sorry about the covid, @PollyannaMom and @frog3101 hang in there. One of my most difficult challenges was the stupid other woman and interaction with my children. Time changes everything and it's mostly forgotten and she never got to be a lasting element in their lives. They've only got one awesome mother and that's you.

@tazdev3225 hope all goes well. You've got a lot going on.

Tomorrow I will go to the shore. Two nights at Hyatt and two nights at Courtyard. I could have done all 4 nights at either one but some nights are expiring end of June and I wanted to use them up and Marriott wants way too much for the weekend nights, so I'll stay right next door for those nights. These are points nights and free nights, and the hotels have been changed around from originally staying in Hyatt in Lewes and at Country Inn and Suites for a night in OC. But, with events going on, I want to be there early and not have to drive in through a lot of traffic. I don't mind crowds as I'll walk the beach early morning and late evening, watch from my balcony and probably just use the pool a bit during the day when it's mostly empty. Hyatt Place has breakfast for 'members' of their loyalty program, but that's just signing up. I have status with Marriott so I get free breakfast. Still not sure what DD and the girls are doing. Maybe driving over Saturday or even Sunday. DGD has her preschool 'graduation' tomorrow but not until 3pm. Then dinner at 5pm. I was going but now I'm probably driving early. I just don't want to be on the road too late and in beach traffic. DGD will be with me for a week starting right after the beach trip so we can celebrate then. But I do feel a bit guilty skipping since I did go for older DGD last year.

We are supposed to be going to 81. I'm hoping it dries up the grass by noon as we had some rain overnight. Otherwise I'll have a jungle by next week. Could have done it yesterday but didn't.

I'm also allergic to latex; had to wear latex gloves for work fo r a week because we were out of nonlatex. (food service, had to wear, no other option)
hmmm, I dabble a bit w/ work comp (from the employers perspective) and I would say they may have a obligation to provide you with the required PPE that doesn't cause you more injuries. Not to would possibly open them up to a work comp case due to the results in making you wear latex gloves. That's to bad you suffered because of it. Hope everything clears up for you soon!
Lynn Your poor stepdaughter. She just does not have any luck. I hope it changes soon.
Honestly, she does seem to have the worst luck, hope everything turns around for her.
Tomorrow I will go to the shore.
Have fun at the shore, and good luck with that traffic! My husband is over at Ft. Meade today and he's adamant about trying to get out of there by noon as it seems Thursday is the new Friday for shore traffic- hey, do you go down 404? If so, you've got to stop at Vanderwendes ice cream, they are not far over the MD/DE line past Denton, towards Bridgeville. The ice cream is fabulous. They have a few locations, but that's the main one. I think some of the farm stands on the way down the shore also carry a few flavors. Chocolate peanut butter crunch is my go to, my husband loves the maple8-)

Picking up new foster dog this evening at 5 pm just outside of Philly. I've already got him a check up scheduled for tomorrow morning first thing. Might be a long night for me, as he isn't crate trained but supposedly is house trained....still I can't imagine he'll be terribly keen to just get comfortable in a strange place, with strange people and strange dogs in the house. And I don't want to crate him and exacerbate any unease he will be feeling. I'm thinking of camping out in the basement with him, and sleeping on the couch. It'll make Friday a rough day but it will be for the best. Glad we have the weekend to ease into things, I like to let the new pups relax a bit and we don't introduce the dogs immediately either, but they are certainty aware of each other. I've only had one photo of him, and it is estimated that he needs to lose at least 45 lbs. which will be a new challenge for me. Of course the heat of summer isn't the best time to get a bulldog with weight issues moving, so we will keep walks to early AM and late PM hours over the summer. I have no idea how ambulatory he is with all this extra weight either, so I hope steps aren't to much of a issue for him. Eldest sons fiancé is going with me to assist in the pick up, which will be a welcomed help.

Youngest made dinner last night, which was great since I didn't get home until 6:30 and my husband didn't get home until 6:15. Fish w/ rice & a salad. Considering making crab cakes this weekend but haven't decided yet, depends on if I get to the farmers market Saturday morning to pick up some crab meat.

Have a good morning everyone.

Happy Thursday! :sunny:

Break from the rain today, should see the sun peak out. Rain again tomorrow. I'm hoping to get out and cut the grass in the morning since I work all weekend and won't have a chance then.

Tazdev - where are you cruising to next month. My sister and bil are cruising to Alaska next month 🚢. Holy moly, you have a lot going on this week! I would definitely be booking a Disney trip to relax.:earsboy:

Easeas123 - good luck with the new foster dog. His snoring will probably keep you awake tonight if you bunk with him in the basement. My friend has a bulldog and he snores like a man!

PollyannaMom - your cat looks like he's just passing the time watching the cars go by. 🚗

Ds3 called me yesterday at work. He found a mom cat and her 2 kittens in the parking lot where he works :cat:. They are hidden pretty good. He said he could have grabbed one of the kittens but didn't want to take just the one, he's aiming to save all 3. He talked to the people who work at the laundromat who they share the parking lot with. They told him that they've been feeding them so he's going to try and lure them out with seafood flavored food. He's going to "rent" a trap from the cat shelter that we used to volunteer at. He gets the trap for 2 weeks and when he returns it, he gets his $70 back. He wants to keep all 3 of them, I tried talking him into letting the shelter trap them and get them fixed. He doesn't want to do that because they will release them again. I swear my boys are just like me . Ds1 just told me the other day that he took in another stray. He feeds 2 other strays but they don't give any indication that they want to come inside, just want the food. This new one came right in the house with him and laid next to him. I told him that he's someone's cat, he assured me that he asked around the street but no one is claiming him.

Office is pretty full now so I guess I should get back to work. Everyone have a great day!

My sister and bil are cruising to Alaska next month
My brother & SIL & their two kids leave for Alaska (not a cruise) on the 21st, and my other brother & SIL are doing a Alaska cruise in August. Alaska is a pretty popular location at the moment it would seem!
His snoring will probably keep you awake tonight if you bunk with him in the basement
Oh yeah - I'm prepared, I think this will be our 8th bulldog foster. My husband snores like a train so I'm at least used to it haha!

Good Morning,

Have a wonderful trip, Judique! A trip to the shore sounds just lovely and like a lot of fun, too ⛱️

Thank you all who give love to God's creatures that come into your lives! Touches my heart to read about our Quacker Family pet crew :)

Love the Pooh picture, Lynn, so springy and cute. Enjoy your warmer weather.

Carol and PollyannaMom stay dry, friends!

Waiting right now from someone from maintenance to come and look at a few things. Have a good Thursday, everyone 🌸

We alternate between clouds and sun, temp is 73, but feels much cooler, because of the breeze. I took advantage of the weather. Got the entire yard, and the bank weedwacked, got the garden tilled,,and then spent 2 1/2 hours cleaning out the shed. Had to move some things and threw out a lot of stuff that has been in there taking up space, but not being used. We had 2 boxes of what I thought were both filled with charcoal in a bag stuff,,you just light the bag. I took them out to give to the couple next door to use for camping, and when I opened both up to check them,,found that one was full of Martha Stewart tableware. 6 bowls, 6 big plates and 6 little plates, all still with stickers on and each wrapped in a K Mart bag (we haven't had a K Mart here in forever, lol). I guess they got put in the shed thinking they were the charcoal. Brought some in for Mr L to look at,,and he asked who gave them to me. LOL! Have to make room for the mower to fit next to the tiller, I guess my self propelled mower will have to be wintered in the wood shed. I have 2 bags of trash ready to put out next week, plus a box, old cooler, asst metal pieces. I also have a pile for the handyman to take home, since he can always use some stuff.
Dinner is going to be leftover roast, potatoes, carrots and zucchini. Too tired to make anything else.

@easyas123 Good luck with the new foster dog!

Not much new to report here.

Yesterday we went for a bike ride by the canal. Went almost 13 miles. I was so tired I came home and fell asleep. I rarely do that.

Today is DH's birthday. He is now as old as me, at least until next February. We joke that today is a national holiday for him. Started with breakfast out. Then to Middletown to the Amish Market, Walmart (for sunscreen), and to Sweet Melissa's, a bakery for cake for later. DD was teleworking so she went with us to the bakery to guide us in selecting as she frequents it and is a pro. We also discussed some WDW without the kids around because it is a surprise for them.

with events going on,
I am jealous. Someday I will get to one of the airshows.

DGD has her preschool 'graduation' tomorrow
So does Tessa, at 6:30. We are going.

My friend from church leaves Sunday for Alaska, land first then a cruise.

Going to dinner soon so better get ready. (Schaffer's @easyas123

I really miss Kmart, Lynn! I loved one particular brand of socks only they sold and appreciated so very much their weekly Surprise Point offers. I used to be able to use those for Christmas toy drive or clothing donations at church. Kmart would send me, $5 off $5 on toys for example and I would find something for $5 or not much more. The same with clothing both for donation and for dad and I. We also liked their seasonal items especially welcome mats and tablecloths, etc. Enjoy the rest of the milder afternoon out there, friend :)

Happy Birthday to your DH, Carol. Enjoy your celebration this evening :)

We had two workers come this morning. Miguel (regular handyman) and a new person named Oscar. Miguel, as always, is so nice. He shared not surprising news that the owner refuses to replace our shower or closet doors. He did, thank God, put a new roller on the shower doors so they slide a ton easier. We got a surprise visit from Oscar who we think was sent from a local hardware store. He plastered and painted a small hole that was shedding on the floor from the bedroom AC. Dad realized the mesh screen is all warped on the outside, No surprise the owner refused to do anything about that. Remember our AC ordeal from 2020? Reminder to always get in writing any service agreement, especially one that involves a cost, from a owner or landlord! We are so blessed, of course, to have the two AC's we do. What's sad is all 9 other units in this building still have their original ancient window AC's that were installed illegally through the wall after the remodel. Window and Wall units vent differently and are not interchangeable. Oh well, all good and come the day it's warm enough for me to turn on the AC, wow :)

Afternoon hug to all!

Caught up finally! Busy week! Please know that I prayed for all who shared tough news or asked for good thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻 There was a lot I wanted to respond to but now I can’t recall any of it, and I only have a few minutes. But loved the last few posts about birds and rescues, I love people that love animals and help those in need. 🥰 Thank you.

Had a weird experience with Grady yesterday. I was in the house making breakfast and the dogs were out in the yard sitting on the deck. When all of a sudden I heard Grady started to howl repeatedly. It was sort of a combination of bark/howl. I had not heard him do that before. (I did hear him ”woof” twice the other day when he saw another dog playing, it reminded me of one of my favorite Dr. Herriot stories, “Only One Woof” ☺️.) All I could think of was that he was howling for his original person because he missed him. Sort of like when you go away for a few days and it’s fun, but then you want to go home. That’s the sense I got. Poor thing. He’s definitely fitting in and getting more comfortable every day, though. Adores DS and is all over him when he comes home, but is good with all of us, too. (Definitely a “man’s dog”.) But he checks on everyone to see what they’re doing, you just feel the nose on your leg or foot, so I know he cares about all of us.

@easyas123 So nice of you to foster the chubby bulldog and sleep with him in the basement! And @footballmouse Your son reminds me of mine with animals. @PollyannaMom I hope your son is doing ok. A lot of people have Covid right now. @frog3101 Lots of good advice about the gf situation. Do what feels right in your heart. I think talking to the kids about it is a good idea. You can’t control how he acts, but you can control your response to it. I also agree about cleaning, screw that, lol. Only if it benefits you and your kids. (Maybe the gf could clean it!)

Had a beautiful night seeing Paul McCartney at Fenway Park this week. It was nice to just be with the family on a warm night, with good food and drink, a magical atmosphere, and great music! Will have to post pic later, they are still downloading and I have to wrap it up!

Have a good evening everyone! 🐥

@PollyannaMom I hope your son DH is doing ok. A lot of people have Covid right now.
Thanks for the prayers, everyone! DH was feeling a bit better today. He went out in the back yard for a bit, and I even caught him on his work computer a little.

Fingers crossed, DS and I are still fine.

I walked the cats, picked up some groceries (with a mask, just in case), hosed the pollen off the porch, and binge-watched some more Grey's.
