Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Welcome back, Carol! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip :) I'm so glad, my friend. I do look forward to seeing some pictures.

A cupcake cone sounds such fun for kiddos especially, Footballmouse! I'd like to see a picture of one if you want to post :) What a nice school start tradition/memory for them to have :)

Continued prayers and hugs always, Lynn.

Have a blast with your DD tomorrow, AuntieMe3!

Happy Monday to all🐥

I use the cake cones. I'm going to run up to the Dollar store and see if they have some kind of small box that I can set them in.

lynxstch here's the recipe:
4 thawed chicken breasts
6 oz. package of Stove Top stuffing mix
½ cup sour cream
1 can of cream of chicken soup
Chicken on the bottom, stuffing over chicken, soup and sour cream on top.
Cover and cook for 4 hours on low.

Thank you!

Good morning. Pleasant weather today. It's noon and only 74 degrees but a cool 74.

I had to get the boys to school this morning. My Anthony turned 14 yesterday, where has the time gone? He is such a great kid: straight A student, good looking and an awesome ball player. I have seen how bold some of the girls can be so my daughter has her mean mom look going. She is on top of all that thankfully.

I started cleaning out the dining room today. Need to go buy a shredder as I have a lot of papers I don't want to just throw out. I found 8 packages of colored pencils in the china cabinet drawers. I don't know WHY I had 8 boxes. A ton of light bulbs and 2 bags of trash so far. I am seriously decompressing this house. Then I found a Disney bag. What a treasure trove. I have maps, time schedules, Fast Passes, welcome info and the like including Magical Express paperwork. Then I found napkins, don't ask, from the Food & Wine in 2010, the 15th Anniversary of it, along with some paperwork for that. The best thing was the maps you used to do on the computer that were personalized. I told my husband that I can't throw that stuff away. So many of those things are gone or changed that they are worth keeping for now. I also found my Disney pins and old lanyards so I have to decide if I want to take them with me in December.

I am off to buy a shredder and printer this afternoon, price carpeting and installation for the stairs and hallway and look for furniture again, plus I need to pick the boys up from school as they don't want to walk. With deliveries so delayed I want to make sure everything falls into the time line I want. 2 1/2 months to get this all accomplished. I am glad I work well under pressure. It's more a matter of getting the work that is being outsourced lined up so I can get the painting done and then get the carpeting done before the floors get laid. My hope is to have it all done when we get back from Disney and in time for Christmas.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

we were talking about birthday treats that I would make for the kids to take to school. Ds2's girlfriend said that she never had cupcakes made in ice cream cones. My boys were a little shocked b/c that was a go-to for us when making cupcakes. So this morning I made cupcakes in the cones for all of them. Now the trick is getting it to them. Transporting them will not be easy!

My mom used to make those, back when I was a kid! I think maybe she turned empty cereal boxes on their side and cut holes to hold them upright? (And then the boxes would have sat on a big tray.)

What a great find! I'm in major decluttering mode too. I'm sure I will find maaaaany colored pencils myself, as I was always a sucker for fresh new school supplies. :rotfl2:

Hi to all Quackers,

I have not been on much lately, but wanted to "pop" on and check in with everyone.

B& B- Congrats to the new addition to the family!!! Nothing beats a little snuggle time with a new baby,

Carol- Sounds like you had a wonderful trip. Glad everything went well.

Tazdev- It's so nuts how fast one can accumulate "stuff". What a great find on the Disney bag though! Make sure to keep that pile away from your new shredder.

Footballmouse- are you still looking for a new job? Hope things with your current situation are not as dull as they were a few weeks ago when I checked in.

flyingdumbo - hope all is well with you and your dad. Glad to hear your magnets arrived and they were just what you wanted. I went to Dollar Tree yesterday and they already had Christmas items out. YIKES! I do give you credit though for getting stuff done and mailed, in our current climate, you just never know. Smart to get on top of things for sure. I'm hoping to have most of Christmas figured out by the end of November.

lynxstch - hope all is well with your and Mr. L. So glad to read that you have let the neighbor's grandson (I think that's what you said) help out with the yard.

Yesterday and today were HOT. Supposed to cool off for the rest of the week. When I watched the weather last night we were supposed get rain this afternoon...I fairly high chance. When I checked at noon the chances had gone down considerably, guess we will just get what we get. It'd be nice though, we could use some. I think our yard has one or two more mows and one more round of weed whacking before we call it good for the year.

footballmouse, you scared me for a minute! I'm used to watching NCIS on Tuesdays and when you said it was tonight I jumped up and ran to the tv to doublecheck that it was set to tape. Whew! I have NCIS Hawaii set also. Don't care for NO or LA so hoping that I'll like Hawaii.

Thank you also for the recipe! I'm always looking for something good and simple to fix.

Happy belated birthday to Anthony, Taz:cake:I truly hope he had a fun day and got to celebrate. He indeed sounds like a fantastic young man! God Bless him. Hug to you, my friend and what a cool discovery! ::MickeyMo ITA with you (and PollyannaMom) about decluttering! I told this to Carol yesterday and have shared on here before, too. Over the last several years it has been so freeing for me to declutter and let go of "stuff." I can be sentimental about some things but am not a "stuff" lady in general. It has brought me such joy to be able to pass onto others (who could use whatever item) to do so! I long ago learned that if anything from an old photo or card to something bigger is no longer bringing me a smile or positive memory to look back upon or is not being actively used by me in a way period let alone in one that is of service to God, than it is high time it goes! Such a good feeling!

PollyannaMom, I liked new school supplies, too :) Not school so much just the idea of starting fresh.

:hug:Frog and always good to see you, friend, thanks for stopping by to check in with us. Thank you also for your kind words about my dad especially. Praise God, he is doing just fine and was given wonderful health related news last week as well. We are so blessed indeed by God and His continuing Grace and Mercy! Lol to the mail. I'm in the thick of organizing some packages and envelopes right now--taking a break. In my very soul, the GIFT of Christmas (and every single day) is Jesus! Sure Santa is a lot of fun as are stockings but He is Who I pray to extra serve and give thanks to during the Christmas season. I do enjoy sending out Christmas cards and this year will send out some postcards, too, to help offset postage cost. The reason I'm able to mail out these extra packages is as I told Carol, because some items (such as what I'm expecting this afternoon) has multiple components to it--like the magnets so that makes it an extra gift to me to be able to share with some extra friends that way. I was thrilled at the magnets and better that because they are completely flat, they can simply go inside an envelope. Dad mailed last week one larger white envelope with a Christmas card and magnet all wrapped inside that cost under $1 to send. If I had needed to place this inside a padded envelope the cost would have been much higher so I've learned that how you send something sure matters! Next year I will be sending out 95% cards/postcards along with (always, anyway) extra prayer along with only a few packages some of which will be directly sent to the recipient via Amazon or Paperback Swap! :) I hope you are able to easily get done your needed shopping! Definitely try to mail early! I just am so thankful to be able to do so before the rates go up even higher.

Enjoy your shows, Kirby :)

To all, please let me know by PM (if you don't know that I am already doing so) if you would like getting a Christmas card or postcard. I would be happy to send more Quackers some happy mail in December. Always, and in all ways, you each have my word that anything you share with me in confidence be it your mailing info or something even more personal will remain 100%++ between us.

Wishing all of you, a great rest of Monday afternoon.

Hi friends. We got home Friday night but I have been catching up on grocery shopping, laundry, etc. Finally got back here. I will try to at least skim the last 9 pages I missed but will probably not comment too much.

We had a great trip. Wednesday night we stayed in RI and had dinner with a couple I met on the Riddle Thread here many years ago. Thursday was the rehearsal dinner, which was nice. We all got to Maine with still no sitter for the kids. After a lot of scrambling, DD hired a Nanny through a service the hotel where the wedding was being held recommended. Miss Connie was qualified and we felt safe leaving the kids with her, but boy, expensive. The wedding was beautiful and we all had a nice time. A lot of drinking happened. I may eventually get some pictures posted. The VRBO was great and worked well for the 8 of us.

After we all left York, DH and I headed north, First stop was the flagship store of LLBean, where we did some shopping. Then on to Bar Harbor. We stayed in an independent motel that was very nice. Not fancy but we would go back. Did some of the easier hikes in Acadia, drove to the top of Cadillac mountain twice, once at sunset. It was surprisingly crowded which limited the hikes we had planned as parking was an issue. Had 3 nice seafood dinners.

Then on to Boston. The next day we used the T to get around and walked the entire Freedom Trail. Took the T back into downtown for a late lunch at Beantown Pub. Also drove to some of the spots on the Presidents Trail to see some birth places. Then Friday we hit the road from Boston to home. It was a nice trip all around and we did a lot in 9 days. Except for 2 driving days, we had beautiful weather.

Saw a comment about ice cream. Our favorite is Turkey Hill or from UDCreamery.

QOTD for Friday 9/10: Who are some of your favorite Disney characters? Pumba and Timon, Lady and the Tramp.

Got through about 5 pages. Too tired and ready to go to bed. Will catch up more tomorrow.
Welcome back. Happy you had such a great trip.

Thanks for the recipe. Sounds good...I'm going to try it too.

I'm hoping to make it out there next November with my kids. We want to see Las Vegas since my youngest will be 21 next year so I figured if we're going to Vegas, we're driving down to DL. Fingers crossed this trip happens for us.
I hope the trip happens for you. If you drive from Vegas to Disneyland you'll drive right past me... :wave2: LOL I think I'm about halfway between the two. Just make sure you don't make the drive to Disneyland on a Sunday. Or heading back to Vegas on a Friday or Saturday even...those are busy travel days for that stretch.

Don't care for NO or LA so hoping that I'll like Hawaii.
Me too....I love the orginal NCIS, never cared for NO and got bored of the LA one pretty early on though. We missed last season when we got rid of cable so I need to figure out how I can watch that, until then I'm rewatching from the beginning on Netflix. My daughter dressed up as Abby one year for Halloween, she loved her.

Been a super lazy day today, I've had a headache pretty much all day. Its super smoky out today from some fires not even that close to us so that may be the reason. I need to head out for dog food, some drain-o, and a pick up order at Target. I added a Halloween tablecloth and banner for our dining room to my order so I'm excited to get it. I'm sort of craving some Olive Garden so I might make the drive to pick that up for dinner tonight for DD and I. Hope you all have a great rest of evening/night.

Abby was great!

So far, I've watched a lot of the original, and all of the New Orleans ones, and I liked them both. I haven't seen LA yet, but I'm looking forward to the new Hawaii ones.

My DH has a sweatshirt with the list of "Gibbs Rules" printed on it.

I sure miss Abby on NCIS but have gotten used to the actress that has taken her place, just can't remember her name. And I also love the Penelope character on CSI though I stopped watching after Shemar left. Not because there wasn't any more eye candy but because the show took a gory turn that I didn't care for.

Casey is the new 'Abby', but you have the wrong show for Shemar and Penelope. That was Criminal Minds!

We went apple picking yesterday and made some apple cobbler afterwards. It was so good! We still have a lot of apples! DH took some to work today, we ate some 🍎, and I will also take some into work with me this week. I am still going to do some pies. We really had a lot! I was a little paranoid about overfilling the bag or looking as if I put any apples in my pocketbook at the orchard, as there was recently a case around here were someone got accused of such and the police were called! 😳 So when I put my phone in my purse after taking pics, I made sure it stayed on the outside. Lol.

Thought you might enjoy some fall pics. (Remember last year? 📸 🍁 🍂)

Feel better, AuntieMe3

Not a fan of crime shows or reads but glad those of you who are, enjoy :)

Cool apple pictures, Pea! Yikes to the police though! With my TMJ eating real apples even thinly sliced can be tricky. I have also found most aren't even all that sweet tasting as I prefer). I was so happy to discover earlier this year Sprouts Original Applesauce It is the first image in the link. It is wonderfully sweet yet has no sugar and tastes like fresh real apples. LOL, this is coming from someone who always disliked applesauce of any kind throughout my life--yuck! A nice healthy treat now :)

Sweet dreams everyone!

Happy Tuesday morning! :flower1:

Back in the office today :sad2: I ran over something in the street on my way to work (not an animal) so now I'm praying I won't have a flat tire when I leave work today.

I made the chicken & stuffing crockpot recipe that I shared. It was pretty good. Good enough that Ds3 had seconds and said the save the rest, he'll eat it on Wednesday since I'll be home later.

Pea-n-Me that apple cobbler looks delicious!!!!

Glad I could help!! I never cared for NO or LA either. I taped Hawaii, too late for me 😴. I was never a fan of Abby so I was okay with her leaving. I do like Casey though. I really wish Tony would come back. I like Bull but I liked him better on NSIC.

Have a good day!

Good morning all. Fall morning here at 60 degrees, going to low 70's. I actually got some sleep last nite. From 10-4. I woke up once and went right back to sleep. Got up to feed cats, and Mr L was sound asleep with the tv on. Turned it off, fed cats, went back to bed. Slept from 507:30, got up and he was still asleep. He's just now waking up. If I could get a couple more nights of solid sleep, that would help a lot!

I need to empty and clean and refill the fish tank today, gather trash , and color my hair. That's all I plan on doing. Supposed to rain tomorrow, so I will get the trash bags in the car later on and drive them down to the street in the morning to save my back. I was aching last night when I went to bed, and I didn't do much of anything yesterday so don't know why.

Great pics @Pea-n-Me I miss apple picking in the fall, fresh warm apple cider donuts at the farms etc. We don't really have any places around here to pick them.

Have a wonderful morning everyone!

DD#1 had her baby today

Congrats and good luck to your daughter & her new family!

feels a little more Fall like, considering Fall starts on Wednesday

Bring.It.On!

We had a great trip

Nice - there is something renewing about a good trip! I've got a similar road trip type trip floating around in my head as a idea for next fall. We will see what the new year brings.

Weather is going to be nice this week so I opened the windows to get some fresh air though the house.

We did the same thing, I'm hoping it's the last time I have the AC on. As long as it cools off enough at night we can usually manage ok. I love being able to air out the house.

Ds2's girlfriend said that she never had cupcakes made in ice cream cones.

This got me thinking - I don't think I've ever had them either.

Survivor starts Wednesday

I've already got it DVR'd. I think I missed the last 2 or 3 seasons but I'm going to tune in this season. It's the only reality type show I like- We are also going to give LaBrea a go. Hope it's not one of those shows you get into and then it's not renewed - we got burned on The River & some other show I forget the name of. I need to make a more of a effort to watch some of these shows as they come on, otherwise I'm stuck with a loaded DVR and I never get to them. I've also started recording the Halloween cooking championship. Plus we started watching Escape to the Chateaux and are hooked! We've got about 16 episodes recorded that we are trying to get thru. And I think that is just season 1!!!! I just found out there are 7 seasons- I've got a lot of flights after the new year so I may be watching a lot of them on planes!

I think our yard has one or two more mows and one more round of weed whacking before we call it good for the year.

I wish this was us. We were talking about this a few days ago, I think -here in MD - we last mowed at the end of October/beginning of Nov. last year.

How's everyone doing? Nothing much new to report on my end. Work, home, repeat. Planning a little to-do for my husbands 50th this fall.

Dinner this evening will be a large venison neck roast I am slow cooking in the crock pot w/ dill pickles. Not sure of what sides I'll make... I'm off on the road again this afternoon for work, I'll mull it over during my drive.

I know what you mean about the reality shows. Besides Survivor the only other one I watch is The Amazing Race. I love that show but it's so unpredictable about the seasons. I knew they wouldn't have it this season because of COVID and traveling, I just hope they are able to start that show again. I watch reruns on Amazon Prime just to get my TAR fix!
I hate when you get hooked on a show and it doesn't get renewed. Over the summer I stumbled on a couple of shows (reruns) on Lifetime called The Closer and Major Crimes. I really enjoy those so I DVR them and watch a couple of episodes when I get home from work.

Good morning.

Not sure I'll ever get through all the pages I missed. I'll just start here with things I've quoted, most from today.

I'm a "football widow" too.
I watch the Ravens games and University of Maryland games with DH and he usually only watches one a day.

Criminal Minds was in my mind but CSI just came out through my fingers.
That happens to me. I might want to type one thing but then hear a word someone else is saying and type it instead.

Hope it's not one of those shows you get into and then it's not renewed
I hate that. Happened to me with a show of 9 people stuck in a bank during a hold up. As far as I know, they are all still there. But then again, I wasted 6 years on Lost for that unsatisfying ending.

I know what you mean about the reality shows. Besides Survivor the only other one I watch is The Amazing Race.
I like Survivor and Tough as Nails. Used to watch Dancing with the Stars but stopped a few seasons back.

I watched and enjoyed NCIS last night. Glad Gibbs didn't die. Also watched Ordinary Joe. Interesting concept but a little confusing. Not sure I'll stick with it as too much work to watch.

Today includes getting a COVID test, just because, after traveling and being in the close packed wedding reception. No symptoms and DD and DGD already tested negative. Just being cautious. Then I am starting PT again for some sacral pain.
