Glad you had a good time in New England! I love the LLBean store! You were missed here.Hi friends. We got home Friday night but I have been catching up on grocery shopping, laundry, etc. Finally got back here. I will try to at least skim the last 9 pages I missed but will probably not comment too much.
We had a great trip. Wednesday night we stayed in RI and had dinner with a couple I met on the Riddle Thread here many years ago. Thursday was the rehearsal dinner, which was nice. We all got to Maine with still no sitter for the kids. After a lot of scrambling, DD hired a Nanny through a service the hotel where the wedding was being held recommended. Miss Connie was qualified and we felt safe leaving the kids with her, but boy, expensive. The wedding was beautiful and we all had a nice time. A lot of drinking happened. I may eventually get some pictures posted. The VRBO was great and worked well for the 8 of us.
After we all left York, DH and I headed north, First stop was the flagship store of LLBean, where we did some shopping. Then on to Bar Harbor. We stayed in an independent motel that was very nice. Not fancy but we would go back. Did some of the easier hikes in Acadia, drove to the top of Cadillac mountain twice, once at sunset. It was surprisingly crowded which limited the hikes we had planned as parking was an issue. Had 3 nice seafood dinners.
Then on to Boston. The next day we used the T to get around and walked the entire Freedom Trail. Took the T back into downtown for a late lunch at Beantown Pub. Also drove to some of the spots on the Presidents Trail to see some birth places. Then Friday we hit the road from Boston to home. It was a nice trip all around and we did a lot in 9 days. Except for 2 driving days, we had beautiful weather.
Saw a comment about ice cream. Our favorite is Turkey Hill or from UDCreamery.
QOTD for Friday 9/10: Who are some of your favorite Disney characters? Pumba and Timon, Lady and the Tramp.
Got through about 5 pages. Too tired and ready to go to bed. Will catch up more tomorrow.
Good Monday Morning
Weather is going to be nice this week so I opened the windows to get some fresh air though the house.
Breezy_Carol it sounds like you had a nice trip, beautiful places to see I'm sure.
AuntieMe3, have fun at DL tomorrow! I'm hoping to make it out there next November with my kids. We want to see Las Vegas since my youngest will be 21 next year so I figured if we're going to Vegas, we're driving down to DL. Fingers crossed this trip happens for us.
Working from home today. On Labor Day, we were talking about birthday treats that I would make for the kids to take to school. Ds2's girlfriend said that she never had cupcakes made in ice cream cones. My boys were a little shocked b/c that was a go-to for us when making cupcakes. So this morning I made cupcakes in the cones for all of them. Now the trick is getting it to them. Transporting them will not be easy!
Making chicken and stuffing in the crockpot tonight, I'll get that started in a couple of hours. We have been eating around 5:00, I usually get home from work at 4:00 so by the time I get dinner going and everything, it's about 5:00. I think I'm going to start pushing that to 6:00. I want to go back to fasting from 7 pm-7 am so I'd rather eat dinner a little later.
How do you make the chicken and stuffing in the crockpot please? And thank you!
Nothing much else going on today. Looking forward to this week for TV shows starting back up. NCIS starts tonight and my all time favorite Survivor starts Wednesday. I'm so excited!!!!! Little things make me happy.
These days we all need to remember the little things that make us happy, no matter how small they are! I am looking forward to Survivor also, along with Ordinary Joe, LaBrea and the NCIS trio. Hubby will miss NCIS NO, but maybe the new Hawaii one will be good!
Hope everyone has a good day!![]()

Did you use the pointy cones? You can get a block of styrofoam from a craft shop, poke it with holes, and cover with plastic wrap (so no foam gets on the cones) and put the cones in it.
If they are the flat kind, I have no idea. Maybe one of those ice cream trays that some ice cream shops have, to transport the cones?
