Such sweet memories tazdev!

Lynn, glad you heard from the nurse and that your DH's wound was doing so well.

Flyingdumbo, so glad you got to visit with your friend and in person!!!

Thank you everyone for prayers for my friend's DH. I'm sad to say that he passed away around noon today. His body couldn't fight Covid any longer. We met the two of them at church, was in Sunday School with them. My friend and I were in the same book club. Her DH and I actually went to the same high school though we didn't know each other back then. He is a year or two older than me. He is the first person that I've known personally to die from Covid.

Kirby so sorry for your loss. Sadly I know a few people that have died from it, including one of my husband's doctors.

Food distribution went well. We got 2 crates of corn on the cob so I will be freezing corn when I get home sunday. I have orders from the fudge store for 2 of my kids and now I need to stop at a roadside stand to look for bushels of tomatoes for my mom. She wants to can stewed tomatoes again. I swear I was adopted. I would rather just go to the store and buy them. If I could just get the ambition to pack the bag for the trip. Even a weekend getaway is a chore anymore with everything I need to pack for my husband.

Lynn, Glad that DH is home and your schedule is getting better. He must be so happy to in his own home. I hope he continues to get stronger.

Carol, your dresses are lovely. The colors are so pretty and you look very nice.

Sending prayers to all who have lost friends.

It is a blah kind of week. I haven't felt like doing much. We did decide on a mattress to buy and ordered it for tax free weekend. It was also on sale so saving money was nice. I hope it helps with my aches.

Older DS called to invite us to Canobie Lake Park next week with the 2 DGSs. The boys said they want Nana and Papa to go to Canobie with them. So I took the time off from work and off we will go to have fun. After the past couple of weeks I am looking forward to having something good on the horizon.

Almost Friday.

Have a nice evening.

:grouphug:Kirby, I'm so sorry, my friend. Prayers and a hug.

Lynn, I agree with Easyas "slow and steady" indeed! Extra hug to you, as well.

Do any of you have (or had) kids who used bunk beds? I need one last picture (for now) of bunk beds. Does not have to show anything other than the beds so please don't be concerned about privacy! The picture is to represent the bunks of a long ago of a 7 year old girl and her older brother--a young teen. :thanks:

@Kirby,,so sorry for the loss. Prayers and hugs sent to you

Slow and steady it has to be. I ordered a foam pad for his chair and one for the wheelchair..he finds it easier to get up if he has a couple more inches under him. Should be here tomorrow

He took a long nap. I vacuumed the whole house (he never even heard the vacuum when I was running it around the living room, lol), then washed the kitchen and bathroom floors, washed the rugs and did 2 loads of laundry. We had a pork tenderloin last nite, and he wanted me to make stir fried rice with the other half tonite. We each had a small bowl and had watermelon with it. Have enough rice for a couple more meals. Trying to keep him on the diet they had in the hospital..but it's not easy!

We had a thunderstorm around 4 that dumped down rain for about 20 min. Then the sun came out. Temp is 80 now and all the storm did was make it more muggy.

What gives with robocalls? The entire time he was in the hospital, we might have gotten 3 on the landline. Today they have been almost non stop, and of course since we are expecting calls from a bunch of different people, I have to answer them all. So annoying!

Have a nice evening everyone!

Robocalls seem to have upped tremendously over the last few weeks out of the blue here :( Awful!

Quiet afternoon. Finally finished contacting those I am still in email contact with. Lol, don't ever change your email address! :P Though the blessing was being able to say hi to some friends I had not in a while :)

Have a good evening everyone!

My nephew, Ian, is playing in a tennis tournament tomorrow in Dallas. He was supposed to spend the night with us but he had some work issues and couldn't make it. Hopefully we will get to see him tomorrow after he plays.

There's a West Africa Banded Cobra on the loose in Grand Prairie about 40 minutes from us. I'm glad it's over there and not here.

Dinner tonight was beef tips over mashed potatoes and green beans.

Good morning all. Back to the 90s again today, heat wave for the weekend. The rain managed to water stuff for at least a little while,,but there aren't many places of green grass, so I am not mowing till it starts growing again.

Hubby couldn't sleep last nite, so that kept me awake most of it too. He's been taking too many long naps, and I let him because he's been through a month of not being home. But today he has to get back to serious work with the OT and PT exercises, he says he wants to be able to sleep in bed and actually sleep! We have been doing them, but just lightly till he got used to being home again. We don't know how long it will take the home OT and PT to start,,nurse said they have up to 10 days to call, that makes no sense to me. A person who's been in the hospital for a month, can't wait 10 days for them to just call and say when they will come. It would undo everything that was already accomplished. He's getting a lot more steady at getting out of the chair and up with the walker, but he needs to be able to do it much better! He says I am at the 'other end of the nurses call light', I told him I am unplugging that light!

I am glad the Olympics are almost over, that's all he's been watching and it's driving me nuts. Seems like all they show is basketball, water polo, and beach volleyball.

Have a nice morning all.

Also, I know there have been other recent (i.e. past month or so) illnesses, loss of pets, medical issues, surgeries, etc. that I have not responded to. I'm so sorry all of you are going through all of this. Life is hard!

I just wanted to echo this as well - I've been on here sporadically and haven't kept up like I did in the beginning. But I'm thinking of you all.

Can I say I am glad Christmas in July is over. I am not a fan.

Let's say it twice!

The perfect way to turn "old" as my grandkids like to tell me.

I have such fond memories of the times I spent my grandmother...she's been gone 23 years this Sept. but she was a feisty old broad who lived a full life. Enjoy your beach day!

Who wants to go to work for me later? Because I surely dont.

My husband was having the same day as you yesterday! He decided to help himself to the afternoon yesterday and today off. He says he "wants to get a few things done around the house" which I'm pretty sure translates to go out to his hunting properties and put up tree stands and get his crab bait bags loaded and ready for crabbing tomorrow....

It is a blah kind of week. I haven't felt like doing much. We did decide on a mattress to buy and ordered it for tax free weekend. It was also on sale so saving money was nice. I hope it helps with my aches.

It HAS been a blah week, hasn't it?!?! We need a new mattress, too. Haven't done much shopping around for one yet though. I'm working my way thru a few overpriced toppers (that aren't doing the trick  ) and then I'll finally buckle down and get a new one.

My nephew, Ian, is playing in a tennis tournament tomorrow in Dallas.

Good luck to him! My youngest shares his name....and (sorry for mom brag) was doubles champ w/ his older brother in high school!

But today he has to get back to serious work with the OT and PT exercises, he says he wants to be able to sleep in bed and actually sleep! We have been doing them, but just lightly till he got used to being home again.

Hope you guys have a good day with your PT and changing sleep schedules. I'm sure he's glad to be home, maybe the goal of sleeping in his own bed will be just the right incentive for him!

Well let see, earlier this week I went on about not having anything pressing of the schedule this weekend. Luckily I think that is still the case! Foster puppy was a bit out of sorts last night, and still foggy this morning from the anesthesia. She threw up after having some water, which wasn't unexpected, and wasn't interested in eating this morning. I was able to give her her pill with a bit of cheese and then another small drink of water successfully so that's good. I'm sure she'll feel more the thing later today or tomorrow. Assuming all goes well, she is off to her new home next Sunday afternoon.
So I popped into Marshall's yesterday afternoon. And I saw it - I hesitate to even type it out- but there it was. Pumpkin Spice Joffrey's coffee ! And of course, a plethora of other Halloween/Fall type stuff:scared: I start haunting all the Marshall's I come across this time of year thru the fall because I've found several pieces of dishware I've started collecting there in the fall that is A LOT cheaper than the website I buy pieces from, but nothing on this trip. Still it's early days yet. I dislike needing to shop for stuff when it's not quite the season yet. We needed a new rack for our fireplace and I had to get one when I saw them 2 weeks ago because if we wait until Sept. or October when we need it, there will be hardly any fireplace accessories left.

Okay - I need to get up to Lowes and grab a few things. Have a good morning ladies & gentlemen.

Kirby, so sorry about your friend.

Mona, I know someone whose kids used to have bunk beds at their grandparents for sleepovers, but I don't know if she ever took a picture of them. I can definitely ask her - but keep looking, because it's probably a long shot!

Good morning all. I'm usually on more at night, but had a minute this AM, so thought I'd "check in".

flyingdumbo-so glad to hear you were able to see a friend in person and catch up for a bit. What a great little boost for you!

kirby -condolences on the loss of your friend.

tazdev - what great work you do with the food distribution.

snowysmom- have a fun trip next week with the grandkids.

carol - we are in for another heat wave at the beginning of next week...I will do my best to not send it your way...but I don't want it sticking around here for long either...:rolleyes1

lynxstch- glad to hear you and your husband are getting more settled. Hopefully PT and OT will get ahold of you soon. I'm sure it's so very frustrating. From my friends who are in those fields, they are short in numbers and long on clients. They are burned out and feel they are not able to give the attention needed to each patient since they are spread so thin. It may be out of their control that it's taking awhile to connect with you. Either way, I agree he needs to keep going so he doesn't lose what he's gained. Prayers you get a call soon.

Nothing much else to report from here. I'm trying to clean my house today and my ambition is zero. It's a bit out of control and I'm having a hard time focusing on where to start. I need Lynn to come whip me into shape....Lyn your motivation to clean and get stuff done is truly amazing. :)
I also need to figure out what I'm feeding people for lunch. I know there is already a "what's for supper" thread but if anyone on here is simple no fail meal ideas could you please post them...I'd much appreciate it. The more basic the better. A majority of my family isn't too adventurous in the food department, which makes trying new things even more difficult. Thanks in advance.

Hugs to all and I definitely hear you on some days (maybe again)? feeling more stagnant....similar to earlier last year. Joy is in all and every day how grateful I sincerely am God has kept all of us together! All of you mean so much to me :)

Go Ian, Kirby!

Lynn, absolutely your DH needs to keep on keeping on and not expect all of you either. Hugs and support, friend always.

Thank you, PollyannaMom! I will keep asking around.

Thank you, Frog, indeed it was such a nice boost of cheer. Little things mean all the more right now :)

Easyas, hope foster dog is feeling better today and that you have a good one!

Friday good cheer to all! :)

Happy Friday all....I think it's been a week since I last posted and unfortunately I haven't been keeping up much so I will catch up after posting....

I want to say yay for @lynxstch DH being home.

Sorry @Kirby for the loss of your friend. :(

Last I posted I was venting and upset about DH having to go out of town on short notice, I decided to go with him and planned to just come home earlier than him to make sure I was home for DDs birthday. Worked out to him being able to come home with me Wednesday and was here with us for DDs 23rd birthday yesterday. It's wild to me that she's now the same as as I was when I had her. I had just turned 23 a little over a week before she was born. She said she can't imagine having a baby at this age....she's still just a young child. She made me laugh.

DH is headed out of town again early tomorrow but I won't be able to join him this time, I have some appointments to take care of this week. I've been having some pretty bad anxiety this week and I think my blood pressure has been a higher than usual so I have to call about making an appointment for that too.

Hope everyone's days are going well.

It is 92 degrees out and HOT. Even the outside cats are laying inside the shed or under the car, so it has to be hot out there. Just fed them and gave them all fresh cold water.

Hubby did his arm exercises and leg exercises this morning after getting cleaned up and dressed. Then he decided he wanted to have his lunch in the kitchen instead of in his chair using a tv table. So I said then you need to get up with the walker and walk in there..he did..lol..ate lunch, then walked back. The pads I ordered on Amazon are just the right size and are making it much easier for him.

I managed to clean the kitchen while he was taking a nap, and cleaned both bathrooms, but that's about all I accomplished. Carpet shampooing will have to wait for another day..it's jst in the spare room where a couple of the cats had accidents.. I pretreated them, but haven't had time to shampoo it thoroughly yet.

Nurse from the cardiologist finally called me back. Hubby wanted to make sure that the Dr approved of the med changes they sent home on discharge..she said he looked them over and said all was okay, and to restart the aldactone, which was the only one they never restarted in the hospital. Recheduled his next Monday's appt until Nov 1 along with a device check. And his PCP one on Tuesday will be over the phone or laptop. He's not up to getting into a car, being driven there, having to walk in etc..not just yet!

Going to make mini pizza's for dinner tonite, along with a salad. And we finally got 3 fresh garden tomatoes out of the garden this morning..a whole bunch are just starting to ripen so we will be overrun soon, lol. He's starting to crave carbs, and I'm trying to keep them as low as I can without his noticing too much, lol!

Have a nice rest of the afternoon and evening

I'm glad he was able to get back for her birthday, as I'm sure she was! It's so funny (to me) to read what you typed...I feel the same way. I was 23 (and married 2 years already - THAT's really scary!) when I had my eldest son, and 24 when I had my youngest. My youngest will be 24 next month and in no way can I imagine them having babies now. And I can in no way imagine myself as a grandmother. I realize it's not a popular opinion, but I am okay if I never become one, although it's not really my choice to make is it :rotfl2: I'm all about getting that 'I ❤ my granddog' magnet' :lmao:

Sounds like he is motivate and making progress, congrats to him!

ahhhh Friday @ 4:30. Time to head home

Well, it was nice while it lasted. DH is back working from home starting Monday. His nephrologist and the transplant team feel he needs to isolate as much as possible, because of [the thing we can't mention here]. So, he got a note from them, and the HR dept okayed him being home. He'll go in if they need him for meetings or trainings, but he will do his day to day at home. They've had 3 + at his office over the last month; as you can suspect, all were [not following good advice]. Well, it means saving on gas, lol; so that's $35 a week in our pocket. Plus I can make him breakfast and lunch, so that will save on his eating out budget.

DGS#3 took a wooden sink to the face at daycare, and broke his upper nose and gave himself 2 black eyes. He was rearranging the kitchen area, and couldn't get the sink to move, so he yanked really hard, and he fell face first on it. Poor thing. He fractured his foot a few weeks ago, right before his 5th bday, and DD#1 was told it was just bruised at the quick care place (after an xray); but he went in for his annual checkup and they sent him to get another xray at the ER...yep, broken. He played at a bouncy place for his party; I don't know how he managed that, because that hurts!

I'm down 31.1 lbs now! :cool1: I'm switching up to walking 2-3 days a week, and doing floor exercises the other 2-3 days, to target certain areas that need the extra help. Only 100.8 lbs to go!

Last night, we gave in and had pizza and watched The Suicide Squad on HBOMax. Not a movie for the squeamish or those who have more delicate sensibilities. Tonight, I'm just baking some chicken thighs with some sort of seasoning, and making Mexican street corn, and a lemon jelly roll cake. Tomorrow, I think we're doing Philly burgers and salad.

It's hot and muggy and rainy every day. This is the worse time for FL, lol.

:cheer2: and  for all who need or want them.

Good for him....glad things are moving along even if you are still waiting for the OT/PT to get with you.

Yup, one of my best friends and I were just talking about her DS24(or 25??) thinking of proposing to his GF and we all(both his parents and his "2nd parents"...us...lol) think they're WAY to young, when we were both married and had children by that age.

DD has already told me she's only having dogs so I already know I'll have grandpups...lol Thankfully we have very a close friend who considers us parental figures and she has said we'll be honorary grandparents to her babies..."we" have our first due in Mar.... It was just a different time, I guess. DH was in the Marines when we got married and we were the "old" couple at 21 and 22 with almost every other married couple still only 18/19 and some already had kids.

I'm down 31.1 lbs now! :cool1:
Good for you!!! I need to get moving...I really need to lose weight and just sitting my booty on the couch just isn't working. LOL And your poor DGS....poor little guy. I hope he heals quickly.
