Good morning everyone.

Waiting for the rain here today and the weather is calling for a rainy weekend too. Maybe I will get some work done in the house since I won't have any ball games.

@Kirby so sorry you are all dealing with that. I have been there as a grandparent and it is hard. You want your grandkids safe and protected not used in petty vindictive games. Prayers you can get a quick resolution.

@lynxstch Your husband can have the onions. I will be tossing them out.

After all my hard work yesterday my night time became a nightmare. I have issues with my stomach every now and then. I have since I was a child. I think I used to much fat (butter and olive oil) to render the onions down. I wound up severely ill. My poor husband had to clean up after me, thankfully in the bathroom only and not a ton. Then at 11:30 PM I was looking for a plumber because the toilet decided to overflow and no amount of plunging worked. Thankfully I did find a 24 hour plumber who came out immediately and the issue was fixed in minute with a snake. We only have one bathroom so I had to get it fixed. He only charged $100 for an emergency service so I was happy about that. I was in and out of the bathroom all night. If this follows the normal course I will still feel a bit off today but will be fine tomorrow. The onions are the suspected culprit so I may be tossing them today. I'm hesitant to try and eat anymore to verify it .

QOTD - That is easy BASEBALL/Softball!!! I played softball when I was younger before all my knee surgeries. I have coached Softball teams, including assistant coach on a men's team and I had their respect which meant a lot. I was an assistant coach on my oldest my grandsons baseball teams and managed the books. I try to make as many games as I can for my 3 youngest grandsons and can't wait to watch LJ in his first games when he is older. I was a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan my whole life but my grandson Jay turned me to the Phillies years ago. We actually have tickets for a game vs the Yankees next week. It will be our first game at the stadium in over a year. I'm a little nervous about being in the crowds but am happy we will be getting out. And it will be LJ's 1st Phillies game.

Have a good day all.

QOTD: What is your favorite game or sport (to watch or play)?

college basketball - watch or a LIVE soccer game ( on tv it’s boring)
i worked a few summers as a teen keeping the score table at a high school basketball summer league. It was great I got PAID to be there where all the teens were hanging out anyway

QOTD: What is your favorite game or sport (to watch or play)?

When the kids were in elementary school it was fishing & motocross...I can't hide my happiness over them not being in baseball, they didn't like it and we hated it... high school it was tennis (they were Doubles champions one year!) and soccer. In college one of them was on soccer team and that was fun. Our family is big into soccer (premier league) & hockey plus the boys participate in some fishing tourneys, although I don't go watch them or participate. Sometimes target shooting, mostly for fun but husband and/or eldest will participate in a shooting tournament for work once or twice a year. In terms of games? Mexican Train and Bridge (oy! the arguments over the years). They really enjoyed racing the motorcycles and going on rides, and eldest had a street bike for a while, too. Never was happier than the day that street bike was sold. For some reason the motocross never bothered me - I'm guessing because my brothers also did it so I was familiar with it - but I hatedhatedhated the thought of them on a street bike.

We have so much in common. I hated Elkton Little League for so many reasons and was so glad when both switched to Cecil Soccer, a recreational league. Both kids played high school soccer until it was too much of a conflict with marching band. DS played two season of tennis. In college, it was marching band for all 4 years each. Marching band was what got me watching football. High school led to college led to watching pro. The only way to see the kids in band was going to football games.

It was the worse in Kent County. The parents - ugh, just ridiculous. Kids played soccer games at Tome School up your way on occasion throughout high school, if I recall it was one of the closer schools they played believe it or not!

 Many prayers dear Kirby.

QOTD: What is your favorite game or sport (to watch or play)? I really don't play or watch! One day, I will enjoy being able to comfortably take very short neighborhood walks with my Dad. I always enjoyed during some of the summer camps, being with the kids outside--it wasn't cold and kiddos do love being outdoors :) When I was younger I was a big baseball fan. Dad still enjoys watching the Dodgers.

Have a good Thursday, friends! :)

Well, as weird things like this often happen to me, just wanted to report that I had a very vivid dream of one of my :lovestrucGerman Shepherds this morning who‘s been over the Rainbow Bridge for at least 16 years now! It was so nice to “see” him again! And I’m realizing just as I’m writing this, that I believe that this is right around the time that we had to put him to sleep all those years ago! Weird, but cool Thank you, Big Kitty! :littleangel:

It's funny, until FlyingDumbo mentioned dogs eating popcorn I hadn't thought of that cat in a long time! I am not a cat person really, but if I could replicate that cat's personality and habits I would in a heartbeat. He was like a little terrier with a high opinion of himself in the body of a big long haired cat.

QOTD: So sorry to those who can’t stand it, :teeth: but baseball goes back in my family a hundred years, and the love of the game has been passed down very much in our family through the various branches and generations, many of whom are, or have been, players, coaches managers and devoted fans, etc. I have a great, old picture from the 1930s of my father, two of my uncles (one by marriage), and my grandfather, who was their manager, on a Boston-area city league team. I cherish that photo, as it’s the only one I have like it.

I was Captain of my softball team. My uncle worked at Fenway Park so I used to get into lots of games when I was growing up. Still love to go.

DS took to hitting balls very early on. Once, when he was four, I came home from shopping and my mother’s eye was swollen and red. Turns out she was pitching wiffle balls to him in the yard and he clocked one into her eye so hard (accidentally) it required a trip to Mass Eye and Ear ER for a possible detached retina! She loved telling that story to every doctor who subsequently asked why her pupil was permanently messed up! (Grandmas :lovestruc )

When DS was six, the Red Sox won their first Championship since 1918. My father had lived his whole life never seeing them win it all. So I actually woke DS up and had him watch as they won so he could say he saw it! He wound up playing from TBall through collegiate himself, on many teams from LL to Legion to AAU, etc. We traveled as a family all over New England and NY, NJ and FL and it was so much fun. I meant to mention the other day when Carole was talking about the Finger Lakes, DS played on a collegiate team out there one summer, so we spent part of the summer out there, too, and visited a lot of those waterfalls and gorges and fished, etc. So beautiful! Anyway, he just took on a coaching job this summer, and he helps out with various teams when he can, so he still enjoys it. Plays softball, too. DD’s boyfriend also played baseball from TBall through collegiate (they played both with and against eachother), and still plays in an adult league, so we talk about and watch a lot of baseball around here and still sometimes go to his games if we can. It’s nice that they have the adult leagues. I once took care of a patient who was in his 60s and still playing, still in great shape, etc. Lots of ways to remain involved if you love the sport. :goodvibes

God Bless your furry friend, Pea! I'm glad you got to "see" him again through your dream! He and God wanted you to know that the dog is still looking out for you, I believe :) Love all your baseball memories! ⚾ When I was growing up especially, I loved tuning into the Dodgers and also every so often going with my Dad and Grandpa to games. Being able to also listen/watch at home often was a way for my to escape safely from a not always positive childhood. As I got older for a few years during college when I was out of the LA area, I discovered the Braves on TBS. I came to so appreciate how Skip Caray, the Braves late announcer invited all to feel apart of the games. I so needed that kindness at that time. I remember sending his family a sympathy card when he died and them sending me a nice thank you note back. Then when I came back here to LA, Dad and I and friends also would go to a Dodger game every so often. The thrill for me was lost when the cost kept going up and the atmosphere/experience down (not as safe and just so very loud also). When Bryan Stow was attacked at Dodger Stadium (I have offered support to him and his family over the years) that was pretty much the end of my Dodger real interest.

These days unless the game were a morning one, I would not want to go to a night game. It would probably be way too loud for me anyway. Loud, constant noise and TMJ issues do not mix. I have heard that YEARS ago my church had a softball team. That kind of thing with a church or just going to a kid's little league game in support would be fun :)

Easyas, I am so not a cat fan or person, never have been. Glad you do have fond memories of Big Kitty! :)

QOTD: What is your favorite game or sport (to watch or play)?
Baseball/softball. I used to play softball when I was a teenager/young adult for our church team. I really enjoy watching children play sports too especially Little League World Series.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. DD has calmed down quite a bit after the initial shock. She is also on the hunt for an attorney. The one that has been with her from the beginning when she left her ex 3 1/2 years ago has dumped her because she is tired of dealing with her ex. So hopefully she can find one that is a bull dog because that is what it is going to take to deal with him.

Back from my pedi. It was crowded. Apparently all 5 county high schools have their graduation tomorrow night.

So sorry to those who can’t stand it, :teeth: but baseball goes back in my family a hundred years,
It's not that I can't stand baseball. I like going to Oriole games. It's Elkton Little League that I disliked.

Easyas, I am so not a cat fan or person, never have been.
This reminded me of this past weekend. The cabin we rented came with a cat. The grandkids loved it. DD is allergic and both her DH and mine don't like cats. So who does the cat go to most? Them, of course. The owner told us not to let the cat in the house and he really wanted to sneak in.

Continuing prayers, Kirby! How cool you plated on your church team :)

That is a funny (now after the fact--prayers your DD was okay) cat share, Carol. The owner absolutely should have given you that heads up before you rented!

Amazon packages came. Not pleased. I got two clothing items that (this is on me for not realizing by seeing the picture) that the lettering was broken up meaning upon washing it would further crack but already (in design had begun to) plus it smelled! Serious they smell like paint, yuck! Amazon said we can keep (will donate) one and the other will go to the UPS store for a refund. The other item I had ordered was a simple package of heart designed party napkins. Easy right? The last two (that I could clearly see) napkins in the package were not brand new looking and flat--every bent and wrinkled. What mattered to me more than I can say is a surprise for my Dad that I gave him last night was just fine.

@Kirby Sending good thought and prayers to your DD and family.

QOTD: I liked watching hockey growing. My dad was from Canada and enjoyed watching hockey. It has been decades since I watched a game. I also watched or listened to baseball. My grandmother always had the radio on for the Red Sox games. Again, it has been years since I have seen a game. I like to watch ice skating and bobsled now.

Jasper is doing OK. He has allergies so his eyes are weepy and the discharge sticks to his fur. I have to clean his eyes every few days and trim some of the fur. He gets groomed this weekend so that should help. Every spring he has this issue. He still likes his walks. He has a few more tremors and shakes than usual but those come and go too. They don't bother him, he just goes along. He is very much interested in everything and barks at dogs as they go by the house. Whenever I go to the kitchen to get some coffee or yogurt or something else, he comes in as if to say, food, did you say food? He loves getting little treats during the day.

It is a muggy warm day with a little sprinkle of rain here and there. The temps are going up to 90 over the weekend. I don't think we will see the grandkids this weekend. Older DS works and we just took care of younger DS's kids last weekend. Next weekend older DGD turns 6 so it is party time. I can't believe she is 6. I remember holding her a few hours after she was born.

Happy Thursday.

I really enjoy watching children play sports

Same here! I don't really watch professional sports on TV, but I went to my honorary niece and nephew's T-ball game a couple of weeks ago, and it was so much fun!

(And maaaaany years ago, I used to run the big outfield scoreboard for my brother's Little League team - back when you hung wooden numbers on hooks! )

As for playing, I did intramural basketball in college, but that was really it. I was on the quiz team in high school.

Well, I may be speaking to soon, but the promised rain and thundershowers were a bust around here. Got a slight drizzle but that’s it. I think the western shore of the state got some wind. Dinner ended up being some cold veggies, leftover venison, Triscuits and Portwine cheddar cheese – a poor attempt at charcuterie if you will! Still it hit the spot. Husband making bear sausage & peppers tomorrow so that’s a big no thanks from me.

I think my butterfly bush is almost ready to think about Blooming- good. Wish my Lillies would as well! have a good evening everyone.

Continued Jasper prayer, Snowysmom I am so glad he's enjoying life overall as it should be! I have a Canadian friend who still loves to watch hockey. Dad has gone to a few games over the years with our cousins. Aw Happy upcoming 6th birthday to your DGD1 Kids sure do grow up fast! Enjoy every moment and of her party :)

Hooray for Honorary Aunts, PollyannaMom in general and who cheer on their niece and nephew :) Glad you had fun!

Sometimes simple meals are very handy indeed, Easyas.

Have a good night, everyone!

Today was another lovely, sunny day. Predicted rain did not appear, it's all down on the coast right now. We still have a chance of rain every day through the middle of next week. I noticed on the weather map that Fargo, ND is supposed to reach 102 tomorrow. Ouch!!!

DD has spoken to one attorney and has another one scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Dinner tonight was Marcos Pizza. My right arm has been bothering me today. It's a nerve from my shoulder down to my finger tips. Sometimes its hard to grip or type.

When it rains it pours. I am feeling a touch better and my mom was very sympathetic. My issues must be genetic as my mom and daughter both suffer from the same issues. Weird.

Anthony went to Urgent Care today as he was in a great deal of pain walking. No wonder. He has a bruised calf muscle, hopefully that is all that is wrong there as it is swollen. The bigger issue is he has a smallish chip fracture in his ankle. That means completely non weight bearing for about 6 weeks so no baseball. I want him to get better but I will go through withdrawal. Hopefully the orthopedist will have better news when my daughter gets him there. The sad thing is they leave on a trip to Florida next Sunday. They didn't plan on Disney but did plan on a beach day and a water park day. They will have to do something else those days. I feel so bad for him, he is going to be miserable. What a way to start the summer.

Tomorrow is Doughnut Day. Duck Donuts is giving away a free doughnut - plain, cinnamon or powdered sugar. My husband has already said we are going and getting a 1/2 dozen as well. He is hooked.

Hope everyone has a pleasant evening.
