That made me literally laugh out loud @sparkle78 Thanks for that, I needed it tonight.

Earlier today I found out a friend of mine lost everything in a house fire. Thankfully the family and their pets made it out safe but everything else was a total loss. :sad1: I feel so terrible for them. Then on facebook an acquaintance made a post looking to help our friend find someplace to live for now and some hateful person made a mean comment about my friend whom she had a falling out with. Ugh...it made me soo upset, I had to say something....who does that?? With that and some other stuff going on, I've been out of sorts all day. DH had to head out of town for work so DD decided to buy me dinner....we had some Applebee's delivered. It was delicious and now I'm ready for an early bedtime. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Is there anything we can do to help your friends?

Good morning.

I have a grocery order in at the Food Lion to pick up soon. Going to drop the dog crate off at friend's mom's house on the way. Our computer guy is coming this morning to help DH with issues setting up his new computer that needs to be on the network to access his work stuff. :confused3 All Greek to me.

No other plans other than being outside. Looks to be a beautiful day.

@AuntieMe3, amazing how fast a fire can destroy things. Glad everyone is safe. And boo on the rude acquaintance.

@sparkle78, my DD was born on my FIL's birthday and her DD (my DGD) was born on mine. Nice tradition. But I didn't realize that I would never have my own birthday or be able to go away on it ever again.

@Bianca and Bernard, :bday:

Geez Louise,
OMG, I say that all the time. DH makes fun of me for it. And that cake does sound yummy.

Off to start my travels.

:grouphug:AuntieMe3 and prayers for your friends! Thank God indeed they and pets got out okay. I am so sorry about the fire, how awful :(

Happy Birthday B&B and Sparkle to your DS, too! Ice cream cake can be so good! I do remember as a kid requesting an ice cream cake minus the cake (so all ice cream). I think I shared one time on our thread about the ice cream sandwich cake my friend Christi surprised me with one year.

Thank you all for the daily cheer, sharing, faith, and continuing our Quacker family :)

Happy Tuesday with love from CA.

@Bianca and Bernard--Happy Birthday! :bday:

@easyas123--pick me up a cake too..it sounds so good!

It is so nice outside,,but I resisted the temptation to go do yard work. Instead I spent 3 hours cleaning the computer room. Every cd out of the racks, dusted and put back (hubby got a live concert of me singing along with Barry Manilow, lol!), every book off the book case, dusted and put back where it belonged, and all knick knacks dusted and reorganized. 2 more bags of trash of stuff we will never use..I found not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 spare keyboards? 2 of them are wired, and going out in the garbage, the other 2 are wireless and have mice with them, so those got put aside as spares. I also found hubby had 5 pairs of glasses on the computer desk..2 are too weak for him to wear..went in the trash too! Off to fix lunch and find something else to get into . All I hear are mowers and weedwackers going outside the open windows!

I am exhilarated ....
today was one of the next three medical days in downtown Yuma, 15 miles away at the medical facility. today was surgeon checking up on my eye that had surgery a month ago...no problem, none to be expected.

but wait for it, wait for it

found that the advertised novelty ice bars that have been on fantastic ice cream sale at a grocery store sale...were still in stock...my freezer is full...well kinda full, I have a small ice chest in the car and a small freezer chest designed for two people...and that helps with the calories.

but wait for it, wait for it..
there is a huge Goodwill store close to the medical complex and they play my decades of music and fun to shop and I found a fishing reel for $4.00 that will sell for $20.00 and pay for my total purchase price of the the items I bought total today...

but wait for it, wait for it

Arbys has a 2 for 6 gyro sale...this fast food store out in the middle of the lettuce fields, along the freeway. Seen the ads, but location has made it difficult to visit as not on the way to any other stop. I have a fear now of driving on the crowded east bound freeway in the this heat, so I took a direct route from downtown to US hwy 95, right by arbys. YUMMMM

and now the exliration....as a youth leaving Joshua Tree and headed to Disneyland in the wee dark hours of morning, we would always pass a massive beef stockyard and the smell of that yard was my first clue in the darkness that I was close to Disneyland. That smell has exhilarated me all my life...well today...on the farm fields that feed the world...someone had dumped a big pile of steer manure...and no kidding, my tired, needle poked, chemical infused body came to life when that fragrance came thru the window. I was alive....and Disneyland...well it is still 4 hours away....but I will take what I can get with my Arizonia ID....I mean gheez i only live 21 miles from californiia.

as for the freeway...they had a grass fire on the west bound lanes.

 Was in the Norco area?? lol The cows have been replaced by tons of houses but the stink is still in the air. :crazy2: I don't know how anyone who lives around there can stand it. I guess you grow to love it. Glad l you had a good day and hope the rest of your appointments go well.

Thanks everyone for the concern for my friend....red cross helped them find suitable lodging for now and many local people are helping with physical needs.

:bday: @Bianca and Bernard and @sparkle78's family members.

@Bianca and Bernard love your gifts and hope you don't feel too bad from your 2nd shot.

We had the grass cut yesterday and OMG my allergies are killing me today. You would think I was the one out there mowing. The lawn needs some work from being neglected for too long but it will look nice when it's done. I almost missed my lilacs blooming...our yard looked so yucky, haven't been bavk there in awhile but after they cut the grass I couldn't believe how much was blooming in the bush. Its too windy right now but I'll get a picture and pick some for the house tomorrow. DHs birthday gift from our dear friends, a flat top grill, should be here this week or at least weekend so we will soon be spending a little more time out there.

I need to go to the DMV soon but trying to figure out when I can fit it in, I have a rescheduled tax appointment tonight, a service appointment for our truck tomorrow morning, and I will going to visit my mom tomorrow...haven't seen her since she went back into the hospital a few weeks ago. They just transferred her to a new facility and it's a little easier to visit there. It will be good to see her.

I was so tired last nite I couldn't make it through both hours of American Idol, hubby got upset that I didn't want to finish it , I said watch it without me, I can watch it on tivo in the morning. I don't think it's fair to this years contestants that they brought back 10 from last year, one of whom will round out the top 10 anyhow.
That doesn't sound very fair either. I lost interest after our local boy, Graham DeFranco was out so I haven't been watching.

DH can drive me absolutely bonkers, but apparently he does listen, on occasion. LOL.

Love it!

I am exhilarated ....
Sounds like a great day!

Got up to temps in the 50's, began warming up and by 10:00 it was nice in the 60's. Then the northerner hit and its been blowing like crazy and so cold. Heading to lows in the low to mid 30's tonight. Brrrrrr!:cold: I went out a little while ago and covered up my tomato plants. Hope they make it, I have blooms on some of them.

Met with an attorney this morning to see if my mom's will needs to be probated and it does not! Yay! A little money saved there.

I truly miss the lilacs from Oregn homes....would cut sprigs and bring them intothe house to fill the house full of joy.....so for now it is the citrus blooms tha bring joy...alas they cannot be cut and broguht into the house....well...I guess they can...but then no fruit.

the stockyards were in Ontario but could have been in norco for Ontario a little ways out in the dark ride on the charted school bus....all I know is that in 2000 disneyland visit in 30 years , when we stepped off the airplane at Ontario airport and headed east to see family in Joshua tree....the smell wafted thru the vents and oh my broght back tons of memories.

Good morning all. Wow, the weather will be real change the next couple of days. It's 47 out now, but our high will be 44? And we have a freeze watches out for tonite and tomorrow nite, when it will go down to 33--:( Guess Spring hasn't fully arrived yet. Glad I got yardwork done yesterday though, as it rained again overnite. I took the trash down to the street and fed the cats, those will be my big chores for the day. Did too much again yesterday, and paying for it by being stiff and sore this morning,,but at least I got stuff done.

And I noticed yesterday that I have a ton of lilacs coming into full bloom already, seems weeks early to me, but I can't wait to cut bunches and fill vases. I adore the smell of lilacs wafting through the house, that really means Spring to me!

Will be heading out to Walmart and Aldi's later this morning, maybe a stop at Ollies, or somewhere to get take out for lunch before coming home.

Have a nice morning DIS family! Take care
