Wow what a Thursday! Dad and I are absolutely fine, first of all, so none of you get concerned about that!
Dad and I did have an unexpected and awful surprise this morning when we went out to my car to take it into the Valley. I did have a dentist appointment. We were going together so that while I was at the dentist, dad could, go to a nearby Dollar Tree. We had also intended to stop by the church beforehand. I had an early birthday gift for Glenda along with a food pantry donation. I was looking forward to seeing her along with, for the first time really since Covid, a very sweet couple who also work at the church and who have been such amazing friends to me for so many years, E&R. They all were going to come to church early this morning just to be able to me and for E&R to also get to finally meet my dad. E&R, and dad had yet to meet. All three of these lovely folks, of course, were most understanding and felt terrible for me as did E&R! More about all of them to come because I know you all are concerned!
Back to my car. Dad found a Sherrif's notice on it!

Apparently last night, someone, decided to slash the driver's side front tires of a few cars, including mine, that were parked across the street from where we live! We had parked there last night in preparation for street cleaning early this morning. Awful! We're still waiting for a call back from the deputy who wrote the notice. He was on patrol when we called this morning.
Triple A very promptly sent out a kind serviceman, Jose, who put my previously unused small spare tire on for us. I was able to drive the car, following dad in his car, about 6 blocks to our local car repair replace. Blessing they are so close and that we have gotten great service from them in the past. My friend D, who lives not far from me and attends the same church where we both were at one time in God's choi at, recommended them years ago. Car is spending the night. Dad just talked with Carlos, the manager last about half an hour ago before they closed. They had only had time to first look at my

about a few hours ago. When we got there this morning just after they opened at 9, there were already a number of cars being worked on. We had intended to bring my car in anyway this summer (and really needed to do so sooner than later as we kept putting it off for various reasons) because it may need (minor) brake work along with routine maintenance. All of this expected service will just happen now together with a new tire. Sadly, this will cost us extra

or now, about $600 We are waiting to find out what the Sheriff (if anything) is able to do for us before going forward any further.
Car will be ready to pick up by tomorrow afternoon

There's no hurry thankfully for us to get my car back so that's not a problem. Actually, it's most helpful because trying to find a parking space on our street of the street for street cleaning tomorrow would be much harder now than it would have been shortly after street cleaning on our side had ended this morning.
I believe I have shared in the past about our next-door neighbor, Y? Until just into the pandemic, Y had always let me park in her parking space because she doesn't drive. Whenever her family who live out of state would come visit or she needed the space for whatever reason, of course, we would work that out. We had hoped Y would have let me once more park in her space again. Her space, like dad's space, (each tenant only gets 1 space) is inside the very small garage to our building. The garage does have an electronic security gate, you may remember went haywire a few weeks ago. Thankfully ever since, it has been working normally. Y did say no. The three of us did have a falling out not long into Covid. Long over the bridge. We had years ago forgiven her. She was always in my prayers. She apologized last year and we're talking again. Her family does come and visit. Plus, she sometimes has a roommate who drives, or a friend stop by. I respect and understand that. She said no. That she prefers to know her space is always available. She did, kindly, say anytime she wasn't using her space and that I needed it for a day to let her know. In fact, she said it's okay for me to park in her space tomorrow-Saturday when work will be done on our street. Limited parking. All good.
When I spoke with Dr. E's kind receptionist A, this morning, she, too felt awful and, of course, understood my last-minute reason for needing to reschedule! A silver lining to needing to reschedule is that I was able to do so for 9am on July 26th. Sue's 100th

Dad and I were (and God willing still are) intending to go see her that morning. Sue lives very close to the dentist which is also very close to church. So, we're saving an extra trip out to the same area this way. It will mean a lot to me to be able to wish Sue on her actual birthday a Happy 100th! Sue lives very close to my dentist and the church. Dad has met Sue a few times. She's sure been a wonderful friend for many years.
Dad and I will be able to do everything we had intended today in a couple of weeks. Except, sadly seeing, E&R, who will be out of town that week. God willing, I will get to see them before my October dentist appointment. Even that has a silver lining. By having a later cleaning this month, almost in August, I will next indeed aim to schedule for Thursday, 10/12. Doing this, saves the cost of an extra cleaning this year. Glenda, extra blessing is that by having more time to get her gift, I was able to order on
Amazon what I had wanted to get her to begin with but that wouldn't have come before today! She's from Canada where her parents still live. Glenda will be visiting them and her sister next month out there and be going toa Blue Jays game. She and her entire family are both big Blue Jays

and Maple Leaves

fans. Glenda also cheers always for the Dodgers out here. The attached waist pack will be arriving by Monday from Amazon! Absolutely perfect! This will be something Glenda can use both on her trip and here at home, too. The gift card we had gotten her, we can use ourselves and we never did get her

this morning.

we did give some of them to the Sparkletts delivery man yesterday and another bag to Jose this morning so that also worked out. We can give Glenda, E, and R cookies when it's cold again later this year.
The other place we had planned to go to after the dentist was to Michaels which would have been not much out of the way on our way home this morning. This afternoon, Michaels emailed me a completely unexpected $5 off $5 coupon that we can use in a couple of weeks. Always a positive in all indeed, praise extra to God!
I would appreciate your

a little extra now that somehow dad and I can one day afford to move! Just somewhere a little nicer and safer of an overall area. A place, that ideally yes would be a bit bigger but more than that have up to code heating especially along with other things. This building, as I have previously shared, has sadly not been maintained since it was built in 1960. The current owner chooses to only do very minimum in terms of maintenance! I do give thanks every day that we have a safe shelter to begin with as sadly, as you know, not everyone does. Definitely a move after this was just brought more to my mind anyway.
That's the story! Extra prayers that each of you have had a happy Thursday and that all of us will have sweet dreams tonight. Much love always!
