Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could see a MAP of our lives where we were near, or in the same place as, others we later met or those otherwise significant to us? I’ve always wondered about that!

Once you start talking to people you realize how small the world really is!
(Although, as my brother says, Try Walking It! :lmao: )

QOTD I have only been to one concert, The Beach Boys at Boston Garden in 1974. I did see Godspell in the theater district in Boston the same year. That was a great musical. Barry Manilow does sound like a nice concert. I don't really like being in big noisy crowds. But I do wish I had seen Billy Joel and some country music concerts.

Carol I am going on a 4 night Disney cruise to Nassau and Castaway Cay May 8. My friend and I fly down Sunday and leave Port Canaveral Monday. We do not plan to get off the ship in Nassau. Our plan is to sit by the pool, read books, and drink fruity drinks. We both need to chill out and it seems like a good plan. We will get off at Castaway Cay for a bit. I also need to play a game of Bingo in Chris' honor as he loved to play Bingo on cruises. My friend is on board with playing too. I thought about how long Jeanne and I have been friends and realized it has been almost 31 years. We met when our older sons were taking swimming lessons. It is funny because our older kids were in the same grade and our younger kids were in the same grade. We became really good friends. Our kids not so much as they all have such different interests. We have helped each other through good and bad in our lives.

@PollyannaMom Birding sounds like so much fun. Glad you saw so many great birds.

@flyingdumbo127 I liked The Wedding Cottage too.

I thought about the rest of my vacations this year. In June I am meeting Kenny and his kids at a campground in NH for a few nights. Then in July we have the family trip to Santa's Village in NH so that is 4 nights. And then I have my solo Disney trip in September. I am still on the fence about that one. I think I would regret not trying it so I will most likely go. Staying at Beach Club Villas will be interesting. Chris and I never stayed there. I like Epcot and it is easy to get there.

Yesterday Jeff, Charlotte, Luke, Sam, and I took a walk through Breakheart Reservation. There is a nice paved road so the kids scooted and Sam relaxed in his stroller. There is a nice playground where the kids had fun. There were lots of dogs being walked. It started to rain just as we were getting back to the car. I also watched Kenny's kids at gymnastics. Today Kenny, the kids and I are going to the Worcester Art Museum. There are supposed to be things for kids to do so we will check it out.

Have a nice Sunday.

Ooh, I forgot to add one thing to my above QOTD post. One day when our kids were little and in umbrella strollers we were walking down either 5th or 7th Avenue in NYC when a doorway opened and out came Paul McCartney and he walked right in front of us on his way to a waiting car. DH had no clue but the guy who was walking on the other side of me and I were like 😱 omg it’s Paul McCartney! I was able to snap a pic of him in the car (good grief, what a fan girl!) but Idk where it is now. Pretty sure it was before I had a digital camera (probably around 2002). Was always a big fan of his so that was fun. I also pretty regularly saw the Aerosmith boys around where I live, when they lived nearby. The funniest was one beautiful spring day I was driving with the windows open and I happened to have a Miley Cyrus song that I liked blaring (which I knew via DD at the time). I pulled up to a red light and noticed the guy driving a beautiful foreign convertible looked over at me. It took me a second to realize it was Joey Kramer, the drummer. (Mortified! How Ironic been an Aerosmith fan since early 70s and have to be playing Miley Cyrus when I come face to face with one of the guys!) Another fun one was seeing David Cassidy, a first crush, first album bought, etc. He happened to be in Boston playing a small venue as his son was going to school here (and was in the audience with some of his friends). I was able to bring my telephoto lens with me and sit very near the stage to get some decent shots of him. I was so sad when he died several years back. DH and I went to a Beach Boys concert once that was outside, and it rained. 😵 We were right down front and we had to borrow some garbage bags from someone as it was all muddy! And I was very pregnant with twins when I saw John Denver. Another I was so shocked when he was killed a few weeks later. We saw a lot of people perform just before they died, we started to joke that having us in the audience was the kiss of death! 😵 Lots of fun times.

Talk of Barry Manilow inspired this QOTD, What concerts have you gone to?

Hmmm let’s see… Moody Blues, James Taylor twice, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Jimmy Buffet.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could see a MAP of our lives where we were near, or in the same place as, others we later met or those otherwise significant to us? I’ve always wondered about that!
That would be super cool!

Good rainy 🌧️ morning to you all. Thunderstorms & rain all day here for us. But that’s okay- need to pop out to grocery store in a bit and have some inside chores to contend with later. For now I’m sitting on the porch with my coffee enjoying the rain while one of the mutts is DESTROYING the toy I picked up for her yesterday!

Good rainy morning. Had a heck of a thunderstorm around midnite. It was pounding on the windows so hard it woke me up. I thought maybe it would be loud with a metal roof, but I couldn't hear any sounds coming from above me. raining again today, supposed to be nice tomorrow, but only 53. I hope it is, so they can get the other side of the roof started. This weather is making it take longer than it should have.

@Owlpost23 Small world isn't it, that we were at the same concert. That was so long ago. His career came so far after that. Can't believe he's going to be 80 this year and seems to still be going strong.

QOTD-if I go way back, I saw Grass Roots, The Turtles, David Cassidy, Shaun Cassidy, Donny Osmond, Three Dog Night and the Monkees. Moving up in the years, I saw Kiss 2x, Barry 5x, and I did see Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five in concert in Chicago. I won tickets on a local radio station. I wish I had the opportunity to see him perform solo in later years, but that never materialized.

@Pea-n-Me I think you might have all of us beat with your list,,that's a lot of concerts!

Rain has given me a headache, not planning on doing much today. I watched more of Stagecoach last night so it was later than usual when I went to bed.

Have a nice Sunday.

It is cold and rainy today, snow showers likely. Yesterday, DS and I went around our 60 acres and picked up trash, always a frustrating job. I don‘t understand people who litter. We rent out the land to a local farmer so we always clean it up so no machinery is damaged. Interesting story, in the past we have always picked up multiple, empty, large bottles of Gray Goose vodka. This year none. We are hoping the person got sober. There were plenty of other alcohol bottles though☹️🙄. I missed Kris we always did this job together.

Good Morning Friends :)

Prayers each of you got a good night's sleep. I am so thankful to have done so, dad did, too. Looking forward to online worship shortly. I would definitely enjoy helping with figuring out places we as a Quacker family may have been to at the same in the past but all the more so tentatively planning more for real, within the next couple of years, really meeting at DL. Dad will be going to CVS and Pavilions shortly. The little bit of The Wedding Cottage we did watch last night was sweet. We're looking forward to watching more of it later. I'm glad you liked it, Snowysmom:hug:

Concert talk makes me smile because I've enjoyed reading all of your lists and would enjoy seeing a combination of some of the performers in one venue! Such as Bread, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and older R.E.M. or something like that :) Concerts I have seen are only a couple Genesis and Richard Marx. Not a good memory of the Genesis (way too loud and due to other things going on, wasn't the best times) but I did enjoy the Richard Marx. Not a concert big fan, too loud and crowded for me. Now a smaller scale and quieter song show would be lovely. A favorite concert I've ever seen was when the Children's Choir sang one Christmas, "I'll Give Him My Heart."

Kirby, big hug and continuing extra prayers for James! I'm truly grateful his fever has broken. Small steps indeed in the right direction, praise God!

Snowysmom, it fills me with extra joy to read of happy plans from you!

ETA: I meant to ask earlier whether any of you would like a sheet of El Pollo Loco coupons? They were an insert in this last week's Red Plum that comes in the mail on Tuesdays and has Ralph's, Pavilions, new week ads inside along with at times a sheet of some type of restaurant coupons. These coupons are valid through the end of June.

Love to all and Happy last day of April! I will check back later.

What concerts have you gone to?
I know I'll forget some, not that I've been to that many.

The Carpenters
Barry Manilow - more than once
Billy Joel as warm up act for Hall and Oates. H&O were terrible and we left after 2 songs
Sly and the Family Stone.
Gordon Lightfoot
N*Sync (Took DD when she was in 8th grade)

Love the Carpenters. Wish I had gone to one of their concerts.

Kirby So glad to hear James' fever broke.

We took the kids to the Art Museum. Well, there really wasn't much for kids there. There was a paint with an electronic paint brush station which they loved. I tried to ask them what they liked or didn't like about some of the pictures but that lasted one room. Kenny and I want to go back sometime ourselves. The kids did last about an hour and a half including snack break time. We went out to lunch afterwards. I was impressed with alot of the artwork. I like the American painters of the 1700s and early 1800s who did portraits. I like to read the back story of the people they painted. Many of the people were wealthy Bostonians. It is like a glimpse into their lives especially family pictures. I also like the landscape painters of the same time period.

Have a nice evening.

I love art museums, but haven't been to the one in Worcester yet - I'll definitely have to check it out! :artist:

I went to the movies today (without DH and DS) to see "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret." I had a great time! It was very well-adapted for the screen, and I recommend it, especially if you enjoyed the book as a young girl. - I few of the storylines are a little less detailed than in the book, of course, but you also get a lot more insight into the grown-up characters in return. (And I'm pretty sure I saw the author in a cameo - so keep an eye out if you see it!)

Good afternoon hug:grouphug:

Carol, I like the Carpenters, too. I'll Google some of their songs to get reacqainted with them though.

Snowysom, I also enjoy learning a story behind something. To me it creates a more personal connection to the song or quilt (a friend enjoys naking quilts), book, picture, ministry, anything. I do hope you and Kenny are able to get back sometime soon to the museum.

It's only just after 2pm yet feels a whole lot later! Covid time can still be odd indeed. Reminder to give thanks for and cherish time period :)

Concerts…We’ve seen many groups at Epcot, so, not those.

Simon and Garfunkel ( small, intimate setting, in the 1960’s) and more recently of course Paul Simon We had great seats, but the floor area was too warm, and we spent time in the First Aid station, and missed the old songs, the ones we really wanted to hear.
Dolly, a few times
Garth Brooks
Alabama
Confederate RR
Kenny Rodgers, a few times
John Denver, a few times
Faith Hill, twice…once in Spring Hill TN… I had a Saturn (car)and we drove to the Saturn Homecoming. We were too tired to stay for Tim McGraw’s concert
Glen Campbell
Perry Como
Johnny Mathis
Patty LaBelle
The Association, a few times
Willie Nelson..Happy 90th Birthday
Wynonna
Peter Paul and Mary at least twice
Reba!
We saw The Beach Boys last year!

I was just thinking of another great show we went to see - Robin Williams. At the beginning of the show he was firing off insults about Bostonians so rapid fire, that I literally couldn’t catch my breath I was laughing so hard! I wish I could find a videos of that! We really miss him. 💔

ETA It’s not that Robin disliked Bostonians, on the contrary, there are tributes to him around the city for his role in Good Will Hunting and some of his charity work, etc. He was an equal-opportunity critic in his style that was so hilarious, he just hit home perfectly with all he was ranking on. I actually was scared for a few seconds when I couldn’t catch my breath! I think that’s the hardest I’ve ever laughed!

This could be my list, if I knock off a couple and add on a few more.
Adding Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Anne Murray.
Saw Willie well before age 90, lol. I think that was at Merriwether Post Pavillion.

I've also gone to quite a few more classical/jazz/opera type performances.
Diane Schuur in the 80ties in DC. An AF band friend who was a pianist accompanied her and asked me along.
Yanni.
Andrea Bocelli.
Lou Rawls
Victor Borge (Saw him at Wolftrap)

And some more. They'll be coming back to my mind as time goes by.

Just a quick good morning. DS has a doctor’s appt and DD and I are going with him, then to breakfast. He is still having headaches and such, but is feeling a little better and hopefully will get good medical care today. 🤞Yesterday was rainy but we went out looking at some things for our project and bought some small items. The cashier was good and showed us how to get a discount by signing up for the rewards program, which was nice. Afterward we grabbed a bite to eat at a place we like and ran into some old baseball friends which was fun. They couldn’t believe how much DS has grown, they hadn’t seen him since probably the beginning of HS. We used to travel all over the place with them, then their son went to a different team. The years go by so fast, don’t they? ETA The dad mentioned that he still has some of the photos that I took of the players pop up on his phone, which made me happy! :goodvibes

Wishing everyone a nice Monday. 🐥

@Snowysmom Your saying Breakheart Reservation was a blast from the past. We’ve gotten off the ship in Nassau a couple of times. 👎 Nice to do it once (we did a dolphin excursion the first time) but I prefer to stay on the ship, too, and enjoy all it has to offer while others get off. Wishing both you and @bobbiwoz wonderful cruises!

I also really enjoyed hearing about your concert experiences, too! Great QOTD @Kirby!

Happy Monday! Just wanted to share that I looked on your thread today out of curiosity as I always see it pop up. I was excited to see your messages indicating that Barry Manilow is touring this year. I just looked and unfortunately he's not coming to Chicago. Bummer. I'd like to see him. Jealous of all of you who've seen so many of the "greats" like Barry, John Denver, Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, etc... and did someone say Hall & Oates were bad? My concert list unfortunately includes dozens of riff raff 80's-90's bands with only a few good ones: David Bowie, U2, The Pretenders, Charlie Daniels Band, Journey, Wham! (included because George Michael was such a great singer). Anyway, thanks for the positivity in your thread.

Quick good morning to all. It is close week so it is a busy week for me. Plus I have to try to get caught up with work and even a bit ahead before I go on vacay next week. Only a small part of my work gets done while I am out so I come back to a mess. I need to be in a good place when I leave Friday.

@Pea-n-Me I love the Robin Williams story. He was so funny.

Have a good day.

Thanks for stopping by! Come by anytime!

Welcome to our little thread @sdk1231 Feel free to stop by anytime you'd like. We're a friendly bunch!

Its cloudy and windy this morning. No idea yet if work roof can be done or not. Chance of rain tomorrow and Wednesday too. Might be Thursday before anything gets done :(. Also by the time the grass dries out, it's going to be out of control. I will have to put the bagger on the tractor or else mow it 2x.

Don has a cardiologist appt this morning. And we are not sitting there for 45 minutes after while this doctor writes his notes. They can just mail them to us. We usually have to wait at least 30 min for the appt to start with, not sitting around needlessly afterwards. This is the first doctor I have ever heard of who does this. Then he will send e scrips for every med, needed or not, and add paper copies of each. He's a little too old school for me, and I'm old, lol.

Then we got a letter in the mail Saturday saying his nephrologist is leaving at the end of May. He has an appt with her this Wednesday. Every time he gets a doctor he really likes, this happens :(

Off to get ready, his appt is at 9:30

Have a great day--send some prayers for sun and no wind, lol!
