2025 American Thanksgiving thread. 🦃 🄧 šŸ  šŸ„”

Shop Rite supermarket generally has the lowest everyday prices in my area. There are a few exceptions, and this has been one for many years. Yes, I know it’s a seasonal item.

Usually the turkey shaped butter is 50 cents or maybe $1 more at Shop Rite. This year the difference is ridiculous. ā€œBest possible priceā€ indeed. :scared1:

I love Thanksgiving!!! Assuming all goes well with air travel, we'll have my parents visiting this year. I also pray for everything to go safely with with travel for DH and DD16. She's playing ball in FL the weekend before the holiday and they've decided to drive to save some money. DD19 is also supposed to be coming home from Oklahoma and I hope her drive isn't too bad.

While they're away or in transit, I will be prepping. I really want to get the outdoor decorations done before the holiday. I'm planning to revamp my display this year and it's likely to be at least a 2-3 day set up. Indoors won't be until early December. I also need to think about food prep. I froze all of my leftover homemade cranberry sauce last year, so hopefully that's still good. I also made enough of my epic mac & cheese back on my bday (August) that I had enough left over to fill a large Pyrex casserole dish. It's been living in the deep freeze as well. So, that should just need to come out to thaw. I have most of the fixings already for pumpkin pie...which I will likely do crustless. So, more of a pumpkin souffle/custard. Or maybe this is the year I attempt to replicate my grandmother's crust (never been successful). I made a dip for Halloween that will also likely be converted into a pie. The dip has a cheesecake filling base, caramel sauce, hot chocolate, and Heath bar crunch topping. I have about six large sugar cookies left over that will likely become the crust. I would like to make lemon meringue pie as well but we'll see. Thinking about a shortbread crust if I do that. Oh, and I already have one turkey. I hoard them when prices drop so I usually have one left for Thanksgiving just in case.

We do Thanksgiving at my boyfriend's younger sister's house with all of his siblings and their families as well as my boyfriend's parents. It is a little overwhelming for me but there's so much delicious food, so I'm not complaining.

I no longer host big family get-together but there will be the 4 of us so we still have all the traditional food in large amounts to ensure lots of left overs. that said-normally I do allot of the prep work the day before but this year I will bump quite a bit into the tuesday before b/c I want to be seated comfortably in front of my television on wednesday 11/26 to watch the long awaited first 4 episode installment of the final season of stranger things:yay::yay::yay:
