QSDP and some TS OOP? Feasible?

We will be there in July and I have added on the QSDP for our 4/3 stay at POFQ. DDs want to eat at Sci Fi for lunch one day; thinking about the Fantasmic Package/Brown Derby; and dinner at The Wave @ CR for our last evening's dinner. Should I upgrade to DDP or stay with QSDP because we really don't want to be scheduled in for TS on a daily basis - but, does it make more sense to pay for the Basic DDP than to do 3 TS OOP? The Fantasmic/Brown Derby would count for 2 TS meals. I am so confused :confused3

Well with Brown Derby being 2 TS and you wanting 2 other TS, you'd only have to use 3 more TS credits. You could have two early morning breakfasts like Tusker House or Crystal Palace and then maybe one more nice dinner.

For our trip, we're doing 5 dinners & 2 breakfasts (and one dinner may wind up a lunch) b/c I think 7 BIG dinners is a lot. I was kind of wishy washy about it at first b/c I didn't want to "waste" a TS on a breakfast but after I did the math using AllEars menus, we're just over $100 OOP and I hadn't figured up any CS or snacks. I am certain we can get to $100 over 7 days on that with three people. So while I may not be using the plan for all its worth, I'm likely going to break even if not profit by about $40.

If your dead SET on the Brown Derby then it probably makes sense to upgrade. We did the QSDP in Feb and did *2* TS meals OOP. It still made sense for us with 2 meals...but with of 4 TS credits I'm thinking DDP is probably a better route for *you*. You need to look at the menus on allears.net and figure out what you would spend at the TS meals to decide. Just remember that you need to add in the tip...the DDP no longer include the tip in the price....which is a BIG difference from years past. MOST TS meals with 4 people are going to run past $100 quickly unless your ordering all of the cheapest items.

For us...it would have cost a minimum of $40-45 more per day for the DDP with the tip figured in...and we used the promotional $200 gift card to pay for the 2 TS meals...so it was not REALLY OOP...we are not big souvenier people...so using the card for the TS meals made the most sense for *us*.

Hi, How did you get the promotional $200 gift card???

Hi, How did you get the promotional $200 gift card???

Because they went in February...the offer isn't available when we go in July.

Thanks for the responses! It will help me make my decision as I keep reading the boards. :goodvibes

I'm having the same predicament. We've done the DDP before, but we didn't like having a TS meal scheduled every day. This trip, we were going to pay OOP for all of our meals, but then I started considering the QSP. We want to make four TS ADR's (Chef Mickey's dinner, WCC dinner and breakfast, and Trails End breakfast) If we buy the QSP, then we'd be paying OOP for those four meals.

We will also have our car, so we're thinking we can eat off-site a time or two. Plus, we want to eat at the T-Rex which isn't on any plan.

I just don't know what to do! I don't want to waste money, and I also don't want to spend way more OOP than what we'd pay on the plan. :confused3

(just in case somebody wants to help me decide, we are 3 A, 1C...one A being 14).

We are 3 adults - my DDs will be 24 and 20...DH is opting out. QSDP sounded great to me as we can eat wherever as well as snack on whatever strikes them at the time. They only wanted Sci Fi; I wanted The Wave; and DD who ate with the Imagineer on our last trip really wants us all to enjoy the Brown Derby...so that is why I have it planned for our Fantasmic Package - the other option was Mama Melrose's for Fantasmic - but I'd rather pay more for something other than pasta. The only dilemma as I see it is: will strictly OOP be better or worse than QSDP with 3 TS OOP? I'll have to check menu prices on allears.net and then just go with a plan, any plan as long as we're at WDW and we should be fine;) !

We are also on the QSDP for our trip the end of May and are going to pay OOP for our DD's 5th birthday breakfast at CP and for lunch one day at T-rex. I like the flexability of the QSDP b/c our daughters like to graze more than have a sit down meal so that way we can eat when we know they are really hungry and not going to waste food.

From *our* personal experience...the QSDP was the perfect fit. The gift card was just icing on the cake.
