Putting in offers for resale

A couple other tricks for the resale sites that don't put a listing date...
Sometimes the language will say something like "all 100 points coming 3/1/19" - well obviously here we are at the end of April, so that listing was probably done before March 1st.
Also, I made a spreadsheet of all the contracts we were interested in, deleting as they sold, adding new ones. Over time, you'll notice a few contracts still on your list and can figure out they've been sitting. There were a few still on my list after I waited for a contract for 40 days in ROFR - so I knew those had been there over 2 months by the time I was considering making a new offer.
Another way of guessing a seller is motivated would be to see the points situation. If they have current points and are getting close to the banking deadline, it may have been sitting awhile or the seller may not want to deal with it.

Date isn't the only factor though. I've had a couple lowball-but-reasonable offers I've put out to contracts that had been sitting for months and was turned down without a counter. I suppose they weren't in a rush!

We did $7 lower, but it was already priced very low, around $8 lower than the average sale price for same resort contracts. So I would say we were around $15 lower than average selling price. You can find that information on dvcresale. Their stats are just on their sales but give a general idea. They have a lot of great info on their website. Plus the contract was fully loaded and we did not pay any mf on the extra points. We did not fully get the ROFR situation when we put the bid in. While waiting for ROFR, we started reading more and thought it was all over. We thought for sure Disney would take it. We really regretted our bid while in ROFR. We thought we had really messed up because the contract was awesome anyway with 2x extra points. My husband was a bit miffed because the low bid was my idea. We were so sure that the contract was gone that we put in a bid on another contract. On that one we did $5 lower and they accepted-- but that one was not priced as low to begin with. (Also loaded, they pay mf). I was not worried about the second contract passing. Of course both passed ROFR. We were honestly floored and my husband said that he can only think they have records on us and saw how much we have spent on DIS over the years and let it slide.
If you don't mind possibly getting ROFRed I say do it. Go low. All they can say is no.
Sorry that is dvcresalemarket

I think some of it depends on how much time you have and how quickly you want your points. Resale can take months. If you are not planning a trip until 2021 then you probably have time to put in some low offers. If you wants the points sooner rather than later, I would go a little higher. I agree that you need to research the price though. Asking on one site could be below listing on another.

On some contracts in the past, I put in an offer in mid-April, and finally finished and closed the sale in mid August. There were just a number of small factors that all came together to slow the whole process up. Compared to my Direct DVC purchase which included 5 contracts at once (25 to 75 points each) and was 100% completed in less than a week. Most other resale purchases seemed to have taken me about 60 days, total, from offer to recording of the deed.
