pulling my hair out over food???

What type of food does your friend like? do you think she would enjoy the character interaction for her DD?

I think in order to choose the perfect spots for her, it is easier to narrow them down If we know her wants/likes.

for instance.. A foodie would love some of the nicer sit downs at the resorts or Epcot... While pickier eaters might hate places like boma...

we tried cape may cafe buffet for dinner last trip and we really enjoyed it. I Think it is one of my favorite buffets. our kids choose Crystal Palace breakfast as their favorite with my DD10 also loving Chef Mickeys dinner. they liked both of these way better than CRT.. Go figure!

personally, I think I would choose the Disney characters over TRex or RC. that is just me though... we went to RC and it was just okay, IMO. I also love getting into the parks early too...which keeps us going to CP.

good luck... I hope you make her happy!

oh my goodness, now she has complicated things saying she would like to do a buffet!!! any suggestions on a good buffet?

My family's favorite buffet is Cape May clambake. Salads, ribs, cornbread, desserts all great. And I don't like seafood but its still the best one imo.

Or I think alot of the breakfast character buffets are good (and would be cheaper) CP, Cape May, 1900 Park fare, Tusker House are all good.

Her 9-year old may like 1900 Park Fare dinner-cinderella, Prince, step-mother/sisters are great character interaction and GF is beautiful.

Here is where I would take someone I wanted to impress, and then, I would let the chips fall where they may.

1. Lunch at Sanaa (I would ask for, and be willing to wait for, a table with a view of all the animals. We went right before the end of lunch and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. A big thunderstorm was rolling in and all the animals came up to the window and put on a show for us. This ADR would show off something unique to Disney.)

2. Lunch at Chefs de France (I would schedule an ADR at one of the times Remy is scheduled to be there and hope for the best. He is the little audio animatronic from the movie Ratatouille that rides around on a cart and puts on a show for guests. Uniquely Disney! Runner up: Coral Reef, and again, I would ask for, and be willing to wait for, a table with a view of the aquarium. We have been lucky enough to dine with a huge sea turtle during our last couple of visits--and see SCUBA divers swim by our table.)

3. Character Breakfast or Dinner at Ohana (The Polynesian Resort is original Disney World, circa 1971, and both meals are fun. Runner up: Cinderella's Royal Table, the price seems high but it includes all courses, tip, and a picture package with Cinderella. Plus, how can you miss dining in the castle? It's iconic!)

Hope this helps! Go with the attitude that whatever you decide is what you love, and it will be fine!

Edited to add: For buffets, I would go for the Clambake at Cape May Cafe, too! Or the Crystal Palace for breakfast or lunch!

:wizard: OP here. thank you all so much for your wonderful input. It is very hard to plan this trip with her as we are 2 hours apart from one another and she works a very grueling job and well ... besides when I drive to pick her up in October, I most likely will not see her until then.

Its a whole long complicated story but ... to put it lightly, my friend is pooh sized and not very motivated to walk the parks ... nor does she want to bring attention to herself with the scooter ... so her whole happiness is that she has heard such wonderful things about the food at disney, .. but has she taken the interest to even look that part of disney up on the site? NOOO. She is going to sit back and pout about going, then most likely pout about the food ... GOD HELP US IF ITS HOT AS HECK.

now get this ... she does not want to eat big meals either before or during our park days .. just in the evenings :confused3 that cut out on a lot of time for fine dining if you ask me? ive heard great things about the crystal palace breakfast for instance... IDK. I am happy though that you all have given me some other ideas to look at. and i thank each and every one of you for taking your time to give me some pointers and some good old backbone (im such a people pleaser).

As someone else mentioned there is still a lot of availability for October and you already have one of the coveted ADRs - 'Ohana

I would explain there there is still time to change the ADRs but she needs to read up on some of the restaurant menus and decide where she wants you to try to get. Emphasis the importance of now rather than later.

DH and I love Biergarten , but you are seated at long tables with others not sure how she would like that, many do not care for that kind of seating.

Personally I would keep either RainForest or T-Rex both good choice IMO with 9yr olds.

Planet Hollywood is also a place they might enjoy.

Afterall the trip need to be fun and enjoyable for all , maybe each pick a place if you are only doing 3 TS then everyone can be happy and have had some input in the decision.
