Need to convince DH that DVC is like a deluxe. His problem is the pull out sofa. Doesn't think it would be very comfortable. Points out the the deluxes have 2 queen size beds and doesn't think people would be comfortable on the sofa bed. Opinions?

We just checked out of OKW, and my 54 year old dad got stuck with the sofa. He has back and knee problems, and he would rather have the sofa over his own bed at home! It was a nice, foam mattress, I guess kind of like the space foam, and he raved about the comfort.

As far as deluxe goes, my definition of that starts with the 1 bedroom units. Those have a king size bed in the Master - the pullout (described by misslauri in the post above) is in the living room. The ones at OKW have just been replaced and as you can see are quit nice. Misslauri isn't the only one to report this. The pullouts in the other DVC resorts should be replaced with these newer ones in the future. SSR may already have them.

Anyway, I don't think very many members sleep on the pullouts - their kids do, LOL! Can't imagine a kid complaining about a bed when they are at Disney World!

We never stayed in the deluxe resorts before DVC (well, just once, but got an incredible deal). Now we stay in 1 or 2 bedroom units for about the same (actually a little less) than the moderates used to cost us. So you don't even have to stay in a studio to "get your $$ worth" out of DVC. You can stay in the 1 bedrooms!

FWIW, the studios at OKW do have 2 queen beds. The other WDW DVC units do have 1 queen and a pull out sofa. Again, I believe the pullout is mostly used by children. IMHO, having another couple in the same room is way too cosy and I don't care HOW DELUXE the room is, LOL!

I would rather not go to Disney if I had to sleep on any kind of sofa sleeper - even the new ones at SSR which are pretty good. I think the sofa sleepers are fine for children - even those in college. That being said, usually my wife and I are the only ones who go and we allways stay in any resort except OKW because we want to have the sofa sleeper in the room - to use as a sofa not as a sleeper. It is much more comfortable to sit on to watch TV and drink our coffee than a bed. I am not knocking OKW as a resort, I just like to have a sofa when staying in a studio. Actually we are going to OKW in May when our son is out of college but we will be staying in a GV, so we will still have a sofa to sit on.

I slept on the sleeper sofa once last week to try it out in case my children go with me sometimes and it was fine! :teeth:

The sofa sleepers at SSR are very comfortable. My sister (37 yrs) slept on it for 9 nights....no complaints

I know, I know.....lucky me...I got the master bedroom :teeth:

Does an OKW 1 BR not have the same living room with sofa layout that the others do?

OKW room layouts are totally different than those of the other DVC resorts.

In an OKW 1-B/R, the living area has two sofas, a full size that is a pull out, and a smaller one that is just a sofa. Nice end table and lamp. Nice coffee table. There's also an occassional chair and lamp, a full size dining table with chair, and a full size kitchen with full size appliances (as opposed to the apartment size stuff in the other DVC resorts). For example, OKW is the only resort with a full size refrigerator with ice maker.

OKW 1-b/r units are considerably larger than the other resorts' 1-b/r units.

Just a note -- we were at OKW two weeks ago in a 2BR -- building 35, I think? Anyhow, the living room sofa was the "old" type, so apparently they're not done replacing ALL of them yet...

We were in a 1BR in December and had the new type. Kept meaning to pull it out to see how comfy it was, but never had enough time! :teeth:

WOW - I thought the sleepers at SSR were the worst I had ever slept on! My dd age 12 hated it, claimed it was like sleeping on a thin board, then I spent one night on it and agreed. Not comfortable at all. My son, age 5, thought they were fine! But he would sleep in the tub if I let him!!! :rotfl:

The open nicely, and are very clean looking and much more "high end" then anything I have seen at OKW, VWL or Vero, but found them to be very very hard.

I have at home a Simmons Beauty rest that is too hard also, we just ordered a "Heavenly Bed" from Westin!! Can't wait! Which is actually made by Simmons, but man that is a nice bed!

I let mother have the bed and I slept on the sofa beds.

After a hard day going to the parks, shopping, partying - believe me most people could sleep on anything....
