PTR:Four Former CMs Reunite For Free Dining:(TR Has Started!) 10/30

NOW THERE'S 3!!!!

HAPPY MONDAY DIS FRIENDS!!

I normally don't post during the week just because I'm busy with work and really should be since I found out last week that my co-teacher is being moved to the Kindergarten room and I'm staying in Pre-K so I'll be all alone and have soo much to get ready for, for next week when my 10 (some old/some new) kids will join me!

but...

MEGHAN TEXTED ME TODAY AND SAID SHE'S COMING IN OCT!!!

She pretty much has given up on the DC jobs and if they interview her she will say she's had a trip planned and so be it?

I sent her all the resort info about us adding her on and the costs!

I'm really hoping this won't be an issue but since FD was extended, it shouldn't be a problem!

We are staying with POP as it would be a nightmare (I'm sure?) to switch to a Moderate. All in All, by M coming, it will save J and I around $50 each!!

So that is my good news for the day, it's not set in stone so we shall see but it's a great start!!!

Glad to hear you have another friend in!! What a great adventure!

How did I miss your pretrip report (well, one of the 3!!) I'm so glad you get to go with both your friends! How fun.

COSTUME CONCERNS/CRISIS

HAPPY SATURDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

I hope the weekend is going well! I've been busy studying (failed my Praxis again by 5 points if you aren't reading my Aug TR), getting things labeled for my classroom for Monday, and relaxing!!

I spoke with M tonight on the phone for over an hour.

She updated me on K's status. She said that K is going to join us and will get her own room at AS or POP with her CM discount so she can join us for EMH. She is also thinking about taking a personal day on Mon 10/25 to spend the day with us!

After that good news, she dropped the bomb on me:

COSTUMES FOR MNSSHP

If you know me, despite the fact that I'm a teacher, I AM NOT CRAFTY AT ALL.

I'm really dreading this whole situation.

I don't really dress up and never really cared for Halloween. My childhood Halloweens consisted of going to the department store and buying a costume. My mom is not crafty either :(

When J and I had discussed this before, we said that due to low funds, we would wear Halloween t-shirts, glow sticks, and some hair bows. Well now that M is involved and is very crafty, she has talked J out of that (I guess without me knowing?) and they now have decided to do "ADVENTURELAND" THEME costumes.

M wants to make a Magic Carpet type costume and J is going to be a pirate. I don't know about K?? She is crafty as well. So my little plan of not having to deal with this went down the tubes because how can I be dressed "boring" while they all fit??

I told M of this and said:
#1 I'm not crafty
#2 I don't have the $$ to spend on a costume that I'll wear maybe twice, nor do I want to spend the money on that.

so..

WHAT WOULD YOU DO???

M suggested that I be Wendy since it only consists of a blue nighty, white tights, black flats, and some ribbon. I enjoy that idea and it would be pretty cheap to throw together I would imagine but I don't want to be the odd one out ya know? I guess it would go with the whole Pirates thing?

I also thought about maybe doing the Tiki Room and doing like a Luau/Hawaiian type costume with the pink dress (from page 1) and some leis and hair flowers of some sort with flip flops??

What do you think???

I'll leave you with that and I'll be back tomorrow with some pics..including the glow sticks which I may be taking back :(

I am not crafty either, so feel your pain.

Still trying to decide what to do for my trip next month

I probably do the wendy thing since they are being pirates. I cant imagine that one being too hard

:goodvibes

Ugh I'm not crafty either so I can relate! :rotfl2:

I think Wendy is a good idea, can't you meet her during the Halloween party? That would be cute to get a picture with her!

Do you have to make your costume? You can't just go to a store and buy a pirate costume? :rotfl:

I'd love to help you be crafty!! Seriously! If you need help with sewing or designing or shopping, I'd love to have a pre-MNSSHP Dismeet!! I've got a glue gun and a sewing machine that I love to use. ;) Let me know!

My mom said the same thing when I told her about doing costumes ugh. She's like I'm not crafty, you're not crafty, and to buy a pre-bought costume would cost around $25+.

Wow! and I thought I was the only non-crafty Diser!!

POSSIBLE COSTUME

Happy Sunday Dis!!!

I was going to wait a week and then post another update but I figured why not post now while I have the time and the uploaded Photobucket pics!

After my minor meltdown last night over the whole costume crisis, I began to start thinking and came up with 2 options:
#1 The Wendy idea: blue nightgown, white tights, black flats, and ribbon to tie around the nighty and for my hair. Cute right? But too hot for Oct/FL?
#2 Go with the ADVENTURELAND theme and think of a costume:
TIKI ROOM! Not exactly my favorite attraction..well, it's not that I dislike it..okay whatever. So I came up with a Tiki Room/Luau/Hawaiian costume!

I did a little research online for grass skirts and found that the Party City store near my house sold the grass skirts and for cheap prices than buying a pre-packaged Hula outfit!

So this afternoon, my mom and I went out and headed to Party City where we ended up trying on 3 different Hula skirts and ended up with this stuff:

010.jpg

Kind of hard to see with the glare but it's a Hula skirt, hair flower clips, and a kit of a lei, head lei (won't be wearing), and 2 wrist leis!
Total Price:
$12 and there is my Hula outfit/Tiki Room/Adventureland Themed costume

I'm either going to put the skirt over my pink/white dress (from page one) or maybe wear a tank top with a swimsuit top under it (I have a pink/white tankini from Old Navy that's a few years old) and wear shorts under the hula skirt. I'm pretty Pooh sized so there is no way I can wear just a swim top, nor would I want to but I can get somewhat creative with what I have at home. :thumbsup2

I also got these for the MNSSHP. Not sure if we will use them as we are all doing costumes now instead of just Halloween colors but it could be fun still!

And my best find of the day...TRICK OR TREAT BAGS THAT GLOW IN THE DARK!!!!

012.jpg

For interested Dis'ers, they are located in Michaels and are $1 each! They plastic (and smell like it too!) and will be wayy better than the ones they give you at the party! They are easy to fold up so I can store it in my drawstring backpack until the party begins! So I ended up buying 4, 1 for all of us!

Well that's it for now. Tomorrow is my first day as head teacher in my Pre-K classroom! They are moving my co-teacher to Kindergarten :sad2: and leaving both of us alone :sad2: I'll be back next weekend with another update..including..

I hope I like CP..I'm sure we might have eaten there when I was too little to remember but I'm looking forward to the dinner food which I hear is pretty good! My college program roommate worked at CP as a seater and would eat the food after her shifts and enjoyed it!

I love your costume idea, it's simple and it fits in well with the Adventureland theme! :cool1:

Thanks!!! I love your castle pic that you put up!!!

Thanks! I loved my Aristocats avatar, but then I saw this one and I felt like it was time for a change! I'll probably change it again before my trip to something Christmasy, but for now, I love this one! :lovestruc

Aww!! I showed my kids a little bit of that movie today at school. We watched the Disneyland Sing Along Song DVD first and then that. You can tell that they haven't seen a ton of the older movies because you can drop a pin and hear it with how quiet they are but show them something recent like Cars or Nemo and it's like they could careless!

TRIP BINDER

HAPPY SATURDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

56 days till the trip, can you believe it?!

I survived this week teaching alone for the first time! It was sad to see my old kids head off to Kindergarten but I was allowed to go out to the bus on Mon and Tues and say bye!

On Friday, I ended my weekly theme of Florida by have a Fun Friday/Disney World day!

We read WDW books including: Disney Bear's Day at MK. Do you have the book? If not, BUY IT! It is sooo cute and even my barely 4s who have been to WDW were able to recall the rides they have been on. I had one almost meltdown about BTM not being in the book and JUST the railroad :rotfl:
We also took pics with my old Mickey ears, made Mickey Mouse Rice Crispy treats, squeezed oranges to make OJ and then compared it to the stuff in the carton. We also played Disney board games and built castles from blocks! I had WDW color sheets for them for after nap and we watched Disneyland Sing Along Songs DVD!

Now for the PTR

I was printing some things out for my planning binder when I began to think twice about our Chefs De France ADR. I ended up changing it to a 1:30pm ADR on Mon 10/25 to accommodate M since she flys out later that night but now I'm starting to rethink the whole idea of even going there. J can be a picky eater, M and I have been there before, and K I'm not sure of. I ended up emailing them all the link for the menu as well as other restaurant choices to see if we vote to change it. I love France but not everyone will I think and well, this trip is not all about me so we can change it, plus, we're eating there in Dec for CLP :thumbsup2
My next choices would be: Teppan Edo, Italy, or Coral Reef since LC is booked of course!

Now for the Binder!!!!

I normally just search for binder covers on Disboards and make them into my own but this time I thought I would get sort of crafty! I found a pic on google and went from there!

003.jpg

After I did that, I thought, why not plus the tabs and add pics! It was my first time adding pics to my tabs!

008-1.jpg

Of course a few of the pics may change depending on what happens with the Chefs ADR and even the resort. We have a week from Tues to decide (IMO) about the resort!

My friend that works at CSR said that as of 2 weeks ago they are overselling a lot of the Values that weekend bc of Free Dining and may have to start upgrading people (but you didn't hear this from me!) but sadly, you won't know till you arrive. I'm thinking about just paying for the upgrade to give us the extra room after I looked at older POP pics and realized where will we put 3 big suitcases, carry-ons, and have little sink space?! ~OR~ Stick with POP and less space

What do you think????
