PTR:Four Former CMs Reunite For Free Dining:(TR Has Started!) 10/30

Hi Dis Friends!

I didn't want to do a full update since I'm in the middle of studying and trying to relax for the rest of the night but I've been thinking long and hard about this and I need help!

As you all know, I'm in my best friend's wedding on Sept 25th. I'm a bridesmaid as she has picked her cousin to be the MOH. I did a ton of stuff for the shower and bought well over $100 in decorations for it plus the gift which was $30 and travel expenses.

I have NO IDEA how much to give for the wedding though?!

I already got for her a wedding ornament from WDW and an antenna topper which was around $25 total for that. I don't know how much to give beyond that???
Also..what should I give?? Money/Check, gift card, or something she's registered for? My mom said most people don't use the registry and it wasn't even included in the wedding invites.

They are going to WDW for their Disneymoon, are using her DVC points to stay at AKL/WL, they have annual passes, and are paying for the DDXP.

As far as the wedding stuff goes. My dress was $300 total with the cost plus alterations. I'll of course pay for my hair style, make-up, mani/pedi, and not sure what else? My parents are going so I won't have to pay for a full hotel room since we can split the cost. I am doing her 3 flower girls hair in the style of fairytale from BBB and have bought the tiaras which my friend has not offered to pay for so I guess I should assume that as well when deciding a price amount since that's an extra $30?? I'm also assuming that I will have to provide the hair ties, bobby pins, and clear hair ties to complete the fairytale. She has not asked about paying/buying those things so I guess I'm on my own as far as that goes???

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

HELP!!!

WOW

You have already done so much and given so much already, not sure what to tell you.

If you do go the money route, I would not give more than $50.00. I would write a check.

You have done your fair share already :goodvibes

That's such a tough thing. I have usually dine a cash gift when I was in weddings, but not a large one.

Being in a wedding is expensive. My husband and I have been involved in many and this was always a question for us also. This is what we came up with. (not saying we are right....just what we decided to do ourselves) We said we would be in it..so we had to suck up those costs like the dress, hair and makeup (although I always did my own makeup :)) We gave as a gift anywhere between $75 & $100 cash depending on the venue. Some places the price of the meals are $50 a plate. And if it is you and a guest....you see where I am going with this???
As for doing the girls hair....I would ask her if she planned on getting the items needed for their hair or if she would like you to go and get them and pay you back. There is no reason you should be paying for all those things. I hope you have a great time and this does not stress you out.

Congrats on paying in full :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Why don't you get her a Disney gift card to use on her Disneymoon? :) A few people got me those when I got married and they were so awesome! :cool1:

That was my thought too. They can use it for souveniers, tips for the DXDP, bridal ears etc.

I Like Jen's idea about the Disney giftcard, but I defintely wouldn't do over $50. You've contributed a lot already!

Thanks! I agree with the $50 limit. My mom said the same thing!

Thanks!!! It's not that it's stressing me out but I don't make a whole lot to begin with and I'm lucky I'm not paying rent because there is no way I'd be affording any of this! I just like to try and budget my money from month to month and try to make it easier!

And booze :rolleyes1

I do too! I think a $50 WDW gift card sounds good to me! Plus I'll get some gas points to use if I buy it at the grocery store!!

******THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!! I can't believe all the responses I got! I'm going to go ahead and get the $50 wdw gift card. Even if it's not all used this trip, there will be many others since she's a DVC member!!

You've helped give a shower & bought a shower gift.
I say for the wedding gift, your purchase of tiaras, hair products & service of doing the girls hair would be the gift. That is helping & saving her money.

I agree!

I'll post another trip update today or tomorrow but I went to the local grocery store today and ended up buying pack of $15 WDW gift cards with Mickey and Minnie on them. It was $45, which I was going to spend $50 but these were darn cute and it was only $5 bucks off so I hope that's okay..if I'm too cheap..:confused3

PLEASE TELL ME!!!

Anyways, with the purchase of the gift cards, I got fuel points and got .90 off my gas fill-up today :thumbsup2

MOUSEKEEPING ENVELOPES!

HAPPY FRIDAY DIS FRIENDS!!

WASN'T THAT A QUICK WEEK??!!!

PTR:

I have Mousekeeping Envelopes to share! I haven't told the girls about them but I plan on emailing them with updates and was going to mention the envelopes and that if they would like to contribute a dollar a day for housekeeping they can add it to the envelope and I won't seal them till we are there!

So here they are!
(all designs from disboards)

* My fav Halloween one!

I've also been working on my Halloween costume and putting my "Disney Box" in some sort of order.

I've decided against the grass skirt for MNSSHP because...
#1: It didn't look good over my Hawaiian dress
#2: It didn't look good with shorts and a tank top (with my Pooh sized body!)
#3: The longer grass skirts were more $$$ and were long so I'd have to cut them and worry about cutting them straight :sad2:

..so I came up with this plan instead!
Hawaiian Dress (bought at WDW in 2008 at Summer Sands store for when we went to the Luau at Poly!) + all the flower accessories!

Do you like it??!!! The grass skirt can hopefully be returned. It was $6 that I won't be wearing so I hope they will! I can use that $ and put it towards my mousekeeping tips! :thumbsup2 I won't be putting the lei around my head because I have the flower clips but it looked darn cute wrapped around my one ankle so it will be used for that!

Now for the Disney Box. It's not really a box but a pop-up type thing. Funny story of how it was bought. I was in Home Depot last Dec to get the "free mickey paint samples" for the Dec countdown but felt bad not buying anything but I came across these pop-up things on sale for $2 so I bought one which became my WDW box!

And finally, I was reading space saving tips on the boards and read that the cheap shoe holders were good for in rooms at POP and came across this one at Target in what I thought was the "Dollar Spot" but it ended up being $2.50. I won't use it at home and we typically stay Deluxe when I go with my parents so I don't need it so I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not. I might not open it and see if I use it or not..but it's only $2.50 right? Do they sell them at Dollar stores for $1???

(I thought the color was very POP!)

Finally!! I thought I'd share some pics with you all from our Fun Friday at school last week! The theme last week was Boats and we made Banana Boats and went on a Pirate Treasure Hunt!!! It was super fun and the kids LOVED it!!!

The kids made eye patches to wear too but I didn't want to share those pics because it doesn't totally cover their faces and I know several of my kids families that vacation to WDW and I'm sure don't want to see their kids faces on disboards without asking!!

Well that's it for now! Today's Fun Friday was Family. We read 4 Little Critter Books about family. We shared family pictures and then made collages for the walls in the room. We watched A Bugs Life and ate Rice Crispy Treats!!

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!

I'm glad you ended up getting a Disney gift card for the wedding! $45 is definitely a good amount, it's not too cheap with everything else that you have done for her!

I like your costume, you get to wear actual clothes and still look dressed up for the party! :cool1:

And the mouskeeping envelopes are adorable! I usually just decorate mine with stickers but maybe I'll print some out this year!

No, you are not cheap with Disney Card, you have done more than enough :thumbsup2

Great costume...Cute and nice you can wear regular clothing

I love the mousekeeping envelopes. The halloween one is awesome :thumbsup2

You are such a fun teacher. Sounds like a great fun friday :wizard:

Love your costume, you are going to look adorable!

The mousekeeping envelopes look great.

Thanks for posting the banana boat picture, I'm going to have to make those with my kids!:boat:

Thanks!! I thought it was cute bc it had Mickey and Minnie on it since they didn't have a wedding specific one. I figured if they even wanted to each take a card if there was something they wanted..or whatever lol.

I've seen how some ppl print the envelopes using the printer and envelope but I'm not that techie so I just print mine out on paper and then glue them to the envelope!

Thanks! I figured some of this stuff/ideas could be used on here for those who get into their trips by having different WDW parties to countdown to their trips!

The mousekeeping envelopes look great.

Thanks for posting the banana boat picture, I'm going to have to make those with my kids!:boat:

Thanks!

I used: Bananas, pretzel sticks, fruit rollups (I wanted to use cheese but the fruit rollups were cheaper and easier to mold on the pretzel), and gummy bears!

Great update! :thumbsup2 I wouldn't worry about the gift cards, $5 is not a big deal! And trust me, you are definitely not cheap!! :)

I love your costume! That dress is really pretty. I can't wait to see your pictures! :goodvibes Your box is great, too. I'm just using an old cardboard box right now, so I need to get something prettier.

Great job on the mousekeeping envelopes! I need to start working on mine, because I'm not very artistic so I'm sure it will take me forever to make something presentable!

Geez, I am behind! Love your Disney box with all of your costume things and other stuff. Very fun.

Great job on the mousekeeping envelopes.

Looks like another fun day at school. That's awesome how you incorporate Disney into your teaching. :thumbsup2

1 MONTH, 1 WEEK, AND 1 DAY!!!

HI DIS FRIENDS!!

I normally don't update on the weekdays but I had do with that kind of countdown!!!!

But other than that nothing to report on! Today is the first day of MNSSHP so I of course was stalking the map to plan our attack for the party night. Of course 1/2 of me is probably going to have to contain myself as I'm not going with my go go go type of family..more like..okay let's go whenever type of group :scared1::rolleyes1

At nearly $60 a ticket, I'm going to go go go, even if it's alone! :rotfl:

Anyways, I emailed the girls all the link for the map so they could take a look at it too! I was going to print it by why waste the ink?? I did print some of the main menus that we will use for the trip! I used to print almost all of the menus of potential places to go and realized it's a total waste of paper and ink!! Plus, I stalk the menus anyways so I should already know what I want and don't want! :rotfl2:

Other than that, we are WAITING WAITING AND WAITING for the Mickey Mail to arrive. A DME package came on Sat and I was THRILLED but it's for my mom's trip to WDW the weekend before ours in Oct so I guess I should be expecting ours by this Sat since our departure dates are a week apart. We haven't gotten the Free Dining package either..you know the one with the luggage tags, etc. I wonder when it will arrive???? We have 38 days to go!

That's it for now..I'll be saying ADIOS until Sat or Sun since my Praxis (state board exam for teaching) is Saturday morning. This is lucky #7 for me and hopefully I'll pass it! If not, I'm looking to have to possibly quit my job come early Jan to really focus on studying to get it passed so I can get a FT teaching job next fall...

WISH ME LUCK AND HAVE A GOOD REST OF THE WEEK!!!!

Best of luck to you!!!

Oh, I am totally just staring at the MNSSHP map now that it's out. :lmao: I also am glued to Twitter since a few people I follow are tweeting from the first party tonight!
