PTR: Because We're Insane: Driving & Triple Split Stay!

I've read one of your TR before and loved it! That dress looks perfect for Florida weather.

I actually have typed up 4 pages in Microsoft Word for a PTR but I'm not sure if I'll ever post it.

Thanks so much ChiCat! Glad to have you along!

And the dress is super comfy - can't wait to wear it!

You should totally post your PTR - especially if you took the time to write it! Just do it! :thumbsup2

Cute dress!! now I feel the need to go see what Old Navy by me has for summer stuff...hmm.. :rotfl:

I am TERRIBLE about keeping on schedule when it comes to road trips, so I am no help there...I find every excuse to stop and get out of the car :goodvibes

I took a road trip to WDW with a group of friends when I was in college, that was only an 8 hour drive from Myrtle Beach, but we just drove straight through, only to stop and use the bathroom and grab food to go, if I was in charge of planning it would have taken about 20 hours :rotfl2:

Is it possible to drop him and off and pick him up from work so you can leave right after he is done with school?

What about packing the car the night before so that you HAVE to pack (at the latest) Wednesday night and get a good night's sleep Thursday night?

Thanks on the dress! I tried it on in the store and loved it. There were mixed reviews on their website, but in person, i was quite happy with it. (I did go down a size, though.) I don't feel like the grey dress is see-through like people are saying on the website. Thin, but not see-through.

On our last trip we also drove straight through - stopping only for bathroom breaks and snacks, as we had a cooler of food with us in the car. It was rough, but oh-so-worth-it when we got to Disney!

You know, I thought about packing up the car the night before, but we're taking Brian's car to Disney (he has less miles on his.) We both have Honda Fits, so I guess I could always let him use my car that day - but I want to be able to run last minute errands through the day without driving a stuffed car. And his school where he teaches is 30 miles north of us, so dropping him off and picking him up is not an option. (I plan to sleep in so that I'll be good for the first half of the driving.)

I think what I have kind of figured in my head is to have everything packed and in the kitchen all together and ready to go on Thursday. That way we can literally shove everything in the car and go. (Oh goodness, I'm so crossing my fingers that this plan will work. We can't reschedule our Le Cellier ADR for a later time - I checked and there's nothing available.)

All in all, I like to look at this kind of thing as a great big adventure. My great big adventure to Disney World!

Love the dress! :thumbsup2

Am afraid can not be of help when keeping on schedule as am terrible at doing that myself! :rotfl:

Oh man I read the all girls trip report the other night, those costumes were so awesome! What a clever idea! An all girls trip to Disney sounds like such a blast. :goodvibes Three of my girlfriends and I are renting a cottage on Lake Michigan this summer for a week, I totally can't wait.

We got our air tix for this Sept (PHL-MCO) but couldn't believe how expensive the air tix are compared to the same time last year. :sad2: We thought about driving but after we booked our trip and planned DH found out he has a month long trip to Europe during that time. It's just me and DS 7 to Disney so no choice but to fly.

However, if the prices don't come down for our next trip, we are thinking about driving. My parents are going with us next one so 5 people X $300~400 is seriously lots of money. However, I remember driving to Fl about 15 years ago and that was :scared1:.

Haha! I think I might have my dad step in and keep us on schedule. (He's a stickler! At least he was when we were growing up.) I'll have him call us and bug us or something. Maybe a good lecture the night before!

Thanks - a girls trip is SO MUCH fun!!! And thanks on the costumes - we had so much fun walking around MK in those - and we got lots of great attention too. :goodvibes You guys will have a blast on your trip!

The drive is brutal. There's no getting around that - especially the drive back. (Kill me now.) But I won a trip to Mexico at a travel trade show last fall and DH and I have to take it before the summer is over. However, it doesn't include the airfare. So that was another reason to drive to Disney, as the airlines will be getting us good in August. :sad2:

I'm following along! We just (just, just- like yesterday!) got back from our trip. We had a split stay and spent the last night at OKW- we loved it! Such a different feeling than other Disney resorts we've tried.

Really looking forward to reading about your trip :goodvibes

Thanks for joining in - glad to have you along for the ride! :) I can't wait to try OKW!

I probably spent the last 4 hours reading all of your trip reports, and I'm super excited for this one!

I LOVE you figment shirt by the way, I have to find one when I'm in Disney next!!

Thanks so much!!! :) So glad to have you along for the journey. Haha - while you were spending 4 hours reading, I was spending 4 hours going through my closet starting to put together outfit ideas for my trip!

And I just wore my Figment tee on Monday! Always takes me back to childhood memories. Hoping for some good Figment merchandise on this next trip!

The Disney Drawer!

So, many of us who are really into Disney trips have either a Disney drawer or a Disney box, etc.

I've been working on filling up my Disney drawer lately and here's a pic to show off some of my goodies!

IMG_1288.jpg

Look at the top - what I just found at the grocery store tonight! Mickey band -aids! I bought two boxes - one for the Disney drawer and one for under the bathroom sink. :)

What other wonders does the Disney drawer contain????

This is what I have in mine so far:

Travel sizes of my good shampoos and conditioners.
Mini Elnett hairspray
Moleskin
Mickey Band Aids
Fabric Band Aids
Water prood Band Aids
Neutrogena water proof sunscreen, SPF 30
Neutrogena facial sunscreen (the good kind for under make-up)
Tahiti Sweetie Body Lotion (AMAZING for sunburns!)
Mini note-pad for Trip Report notes
Foam Lime Green Mickey head (to show others that I'm a Dis-er)
Pond's Facial Wipes
Baby Powder
Travel Toothpaste and Toothbrush
Qtips
Sample size of Smashbox Halo face powder
Hair Oil
Adorable Fossil Pink Leather Vitamin and Pill carrier
Shout Wipes
Feminine stuff
Travel size bottle of Downy Wrinkle Releaser
Med-e-tate antiperspirant wipes ('cause anyone who's ever read my TR's before knows that I'm a SWEATER!)

I think that's about it for now. More will be added as we get closer, of course. But it's a good start!

I also have Disney drawer that's on my closet floor. It's not specially dedicated to Disney but more for our travel/vacations.
I'm looking through my drawer... other than what you have, I have cheap ponchos, glow-in dark sticks, Shisheido Face/Body Sunblock SPF 60, Dove Prescription Strength Deoderant (I'm completely dry under arms!), and colorful Sharpies for character autographs.

I spend several hours yesterday reading through your trip reports! They were so fun to read... my disney fix while waiting for our trip. We live across the river from you. Cherry Hill, NJ.

I love your Disney drawer - what a cool idea! :cool1:

Also your list is making me think about stuff I need to buy before September :thumbsup2

Hi neighbor! :)
Your extras remind me of some of the stuff I still have to add - like deodorant. (Yes, I wear deodorant/antiperspirant on top of the antiperspirant wipes I'll be using - I sweat that bad. ugh. :sad2:) And - yes - totally need to get the cheap ponchos! Good reminder on that too!

Thanks for reading my TR's!!!! I hope this next one will be my best one yet! :thumbsup2

I like to get a gradual start on my list of essentials by having a drawer - that way it's not one big expensive shopping trip right before the actual vacation. (No one wants that! haha!)

I have listened to your website recordings before, but I couldn't help following the link after reading the article (great article :thumbsup2) you are amazing!!
