I'm looking for opinions on these....what's the difference? Which has more younger children-friendly games? (kids 9 and 7)

I'm sure it's a matter of preference, but which do you have and why?

Thanks!

We have all three and DS 8 plays all three. Gamecube has a lot of munchkin friendly games, PS2 just has more games, and the XBOX just rocks!

I don't know that we could pick just one, right now DS is playing the XBOX. We picked up a PSone for him today too - for $20 we figured why not!! He plays them all a lot but says he'd pick the XBOX overall.

Good luck!

We have an x-box for our 10 y.o. son. We've had it for about 2 years. If we had to do it over again, we wouldn't have got an xbox because the games seem to aimed towards the older crowd (teens). I think PS might have a better selection for younger children.

We're getting PS2 for DD13. We have PSOne and should be able to play the games we have on the new system. My mom has XBOX and DD likes to play those games too.

DH has the PS2 = registered for it and got it when we got married =( LOL

He says it mostly comes down to what games you like - go to someplace like Toys R Us with a bunch of games, and just see which system has the most games you like. He likes the PS2 games the most, and likes that it's a DVD player and can run old PS1 games we already had.

We have a Gamecube and Xbox. The Xbox is highly favored, where the Gamecube is just ok.

I have a 7 year old, and a 9 year old.

They are the same ages as your kids.

The Xbox has more mature type games. We don't allow them in the house, but my son like the sports games (Football, tony hawk, Amped, etc). We have other fun games like Crash Bandicoot, Star Wars, Fuzion Frenzy, Shrek, Spongebob, Spiderman and a few others.

We have an Xbox that I love, and my cousin has a PS2 that I have played as well. Both are great, but I think PS2 has more games (though more Xbox games have been released) - that is really the only difference I have noticed when playing them.

Have not played the GameCube, so I am unable to give an opinion on that one.

Also, I don't think the Gamecube is a DVD player. PS2 and Xbox are. My 5 year old prefers the PS2 but the Xbox is a great system and very sturdy.

We have an XBox and a GameCube. Both are great systems. The Nintendo GameCube has the best selection of child-friendly games. It is easy to operate and is a very rugged and sturdy system. It is built for children to toss around. You will only find the Mario, DonkeyKong and Pokemon games on the Nintendo.

The XBox has better graphics (but the Cube is a close second). It is a larger system. It has a good selection of games which is expanding. One note about this system--the controller is large and awkward. If you get this system, you may want to get a MadCatz Micro controller for your children (about $24 each). As a female, I can't use the X-Box controller. It is too large for my hands.

PS2--We don't have this one. It is not the most reliable system and has many critical system failures. That is the only reason we don't have it. This system has the largest selection of games. Many are sports titles and mature (gore) games.

DS12 received one from "Santa" a few yrs ago. DH is often using it so there are arguments over whose turn it is to play.
Sooo this yr DS & I just bought DH his own for Christmas. DH will keep the old one (he smokes) and DS will get the new one for his game room.

We have a Gamecube for DD(6) much more friendlier games for her age and DH has an PS2 which has games for him. I like both and have played both. I personally want to get an XBOX for myself and have Kim's games. :o

My kids (7 and 5) have a GameCube and love it because they can play their Gameboy Advance games on it as well! :) I like Gamecube because it is child friendly and has more games geared towards my kids ages! :)

My son just asked for a PS2 for christmas, so I am thinking that he really is starting to grow up!! LOL

If you have an older Xbox this is the case, Microsoft did away with the large controller a year or so ago and only sells the small controller. We have two large ones which are too big for me and a small one which DS and I fight over.

I would have to agree with this statement.

I have 3 DS's who are 12, 10, and 6. We have had GameCube for almost 2 years. We got it because of the Nintendo excclusive games...Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, etc. These are my boys favorite games and you can't get them on any other system.

We bought an XBox when they first came out. My DH assured me they would develop more games for little kiddos as time went by. I haven't seen that happen yet - most of the games are for adults and some for teens. I eventually bought the kids a Gamecube because it has much more for my younger crowd (8, 6, and 4).
