Looks like we will fly in the day before we cruise. I've been pricing out limo's and shuttles to get the 4 of us to the cape. I think I will be staying at the Radisson. Looking for the best way to get from MCO to the hotel, port. I'm starting to lean towards renting a car for a day. Looks like Budget has a office location near the port with a shuttle. I was thinking flying in early on Fri and driving to the port. Spending the day at the beach. I figure it would be nice to have a car to get from the hotel/beach/dinner and site seeing. Then I would just drop the car off Saturday morning and catch the shuttle from the office to the terminal. I would then rent another car on the return trip. Looks like total cost for the 2 days would be around $125.00 for a luxery car. That's before I start looking for and discounts. So, I'm I missing something? Are there any cons for what I'm thinking. Has anyone done this? Now I'm thinking about maybe getting a hotel for Saturday night on the return trip and getting another day at the beach. Fly back on Sunday.:teeth:

We were in your situation on our recent cruise. Arrived the Thursday before our departure - 10/5 - 10/9 cruise - and were not scheduled to fly back out until 10/11. Researched the prices of rentals vs shuttles (and convenience) and settled on a rental car. As we stayed at Disney both before and after the cruise it made sense to have a car. The benefits were we were able to drive from MCO to our hotel, go any where we wanted, drive to the port at the time we selected, and head back to Orlando without a rush - and riding on a bus/limo. I did look into renting and returning and re-renting but the difference was minimal. You will have to eat the parking charge but the ease of use was worth it to us. Avis had a pretty good rate (with my discount) and was located in the Airport. National and Dollar are also somewhat economical. Good Luck!

We rented a one-way car last time and are doing it again in 3 weeks. I can't imagine taking the shuttle, as we like to travel on our own schedule and be in control. Plus, with 4 people, it works out to a cheaper price!
