Think of this as a trip report of sorts. I am looking into buying resale at AKV for a particular Use Year, and am surprised at the variability in the utility of the various websites, so I've listed what I view as pros and cons of each, listed in order of my preference. My favorite site happens to be the current DISboards sponsor, but that was the case before they took that role. This list includes a site that is apparently barred by DIS, but I've kept the pros/cons in case you're a student of usability. 😉 At the bottom is a site that just doesn't get it, IMO. Of course the bottom line is which site has the contract you want, but some of these sites aren't very helpful in that search.

I didn’t know there were so many resale sites. My favorite is your first and sponsor of these boards. I like to read their blog and then check listings .
It gives the impression of being Professional , trustworthy & friendly .
And includes all the basics In easy to find format.

Con: No way to sort "sale pending" listings.

I wanted to get enough to spend 5 months(I think I figured 2500 pts) a year on property during retirement. Problem is by the time I and my wife are retired we are talking 2046 and there aren't many resorts good for another 20 years after that..... Plus either I will die of something in those 20 years or my wife will have "inadvertently" made me unable to breath at night so then she is stuck with 25 more years of retirement alone.

There are a lot more, it’s just that they can’t be linked on this site.
Fairly easy to find on a google search but I normally judge a site by how easy to navigate and filter out sale pending listings, so DVC resale market by far best website but I search them all to compare.

I’ve bought from 3 different brokers and as long as they pass on your bids then in the end it’s the title company that are more important in my eyes.

I prefer the sites that show the listings in a concise table format that's filterable and sortable. It also needs to look when viewing on a phone. The format of www.dvcresalemarket.com and www.dvcsales.com work best for my searches.

I still check as many as possible, but some are definitely more user-friendly than others. I check Fidelity often, but I find their site a little clunky vs others. They sell other timeshares too so maybe they're just trying to keep a standard format for everything.

if there is a rare points/resort/UY combo then I would recommend getting this info recorded with the brokers in advance, it might help you get first chance at it before the listing even gets on their sites

I've been running through the various sites lately and agree the last one on your list is the absolute worst. Not only do you have to click on every ad, they look exactly the same. Which tells me the data is really old because its not likely there were that many recent listings with such a specific point total.

I've found one listing I'm interested on a site that I assume is blocked here and I can't figure out how to know if its a legit site or not. https://www.**********.com/dvc-resale-listings/
Wish there was a clear "black list" but I can understand why that could be problematic.

Many of the listings are Sale Pending, so they waste your time.
Somehow the More Info links don't remember being visited, so they waste your time.

They happen to have had the contract I wanted so I'm in escrow with them now. Will report back if there's a problem. I think it's good.

I wouldn’t worry too much that it’s blocked here as that is just DIS preferences. I would just google reviews, you can even check individual agents to see if they are genuine. www.myfloridalicense.com

Thanks, I'll be interested to hear. They seem to have better listings than elsewhere, which sometimes makes me skeptical.

Yeah, agree its not related to reliability necessarily. Thanks for that link.

I have used both the current DIS sponsor and the previous DIS sponsor. I did find the representatives at DVCStore to be a bit more responsive and forthcoming with events during the process (submitted for ROFR, waiting for estoppel, etc.) I had no trouble with searching either website by resort and use year but I don't use a search encoded in the URL. My choice was driven by the listing. I have had some trouble with the escrow company's e-mail being marked as SPAM by my provider. It is very important to check your spam folder everyday until you close.
