Pronunciation help for kitten...

Here is a picture of my new kitten's half sister (I don't have a pic of him yet):

Now, the second born child in Bali is always called either Made (May day) or Kadek. I like the name Kadek... the problem is that the way I say it isn't how it is pronounced... which do you like better for above kitty (he looks like her).

Kadek (K- long a - d- short e - k)... Kay deck

or

how it is really pronounced... k - short u (like in cut) - d - eek...kudeek.

Kudeek the geek... see? I like the other pronounciation. But it isn't true to Bali.

BTW... he is a Traditional Balinese. Hence the Bali name.

Opinions? Other ideas?

I prefer Kay-deck. THe other way sounds cumbersome.

I also prefer the sound of Kay-deck,

but would stick with tradition anyway. It sounds kind of like you are ignorant and just don't know how to pronounce it if you do it wrong.

I forgot to mention that his second name is Kucing (pronounced k-oo-ch-eeng) which means cat (lol)... so Kadek Kucing (second cat). Very original, eh?

DH insists he will just call him Junior (because he will look just like our other cat Nicholas). Hmmm...

I think I would just call it "Cat".

Will anyone know if you're pronouncing it wrong? I'd say if it was just you and the family, call it the easier one (Kay deck). If you live near family/friends who would be insulted that his name isn't pronounced perfectly, well, go with Kudeek.

He looks very soft and fuzzy - Wedge and Tycho say hello!

I'm going against the flow here . . . . I think ku-deek sounds more like a male & kay-deck more like a female. (Deke & Kay, I guess)

I like kuh-deek best, regardless of sex. I wouldn't really worry about the "geek" thing, in fact I think it's cute. It's not like the other kitties are going to tease her in the school yard!
