~Project Runway Season Season 8 Thread Spoilers Welcome~

I think his design was really good, but when it comes down to picking a winner, one who did a great design and did the work themselves in the time limit of the challenge should be picked over someone who needed help, from not just 1 but 2 others, to get that design out on the runway. I'm not saying he should have been eliminated, but I don't think he deserved to win over the other 2 designers in the top 3.

I agree with this.

I think it's sort of a positive reflection on a designer if there are people who are WILLING to help.

It's interesting that speed of design and construction is such a huge factor in the competition. If the best undiscovered designer in the nation was not speedy, he/she would have no chance on this show.

Wonder how long it would take Michael Kors to design and construct a dress?

ITA but I don't think its fair to other designers who get their stuff done in the time they are supposed to if the winner is someone who couldn't. I guess I wonder if he wasn't allowed to have help what would have ended up down the runway, would the judges have looked beyond the unfinished work and give him 1st place or would they have held it against him. If its the latter then there is no way he should have won.
Also, its pretty clear that the speed of design and construction is not such a huge factor since he did end up winning.

Well I just got through the dresses and I was pretty impressed.

Ivy was the person that stood out to me to have the worst design. It made the model look enormous.

I already know that Andy won and I have to say his dress was great. A lot of the other designers also had great ideas as well. Very hard to pick one for me.

I think Andy did the whole "head to toe" styling with the outfit very well. The other designers need to step it up there.

Was very surprised to see Peach's outfit, I loved it.:thumbsup2 Actually I liked a lot of them.

Now I have to go watch the judging. So this was pre-judging commentary.;)

Just got done with the end. Ivy passing out! I hope she is OK.

It is really clear to me at least, that they are really scrutinizing the "head to toe" look. I knew Gretchen was not going to get it when Heidi said she did not like her boots.

Overall good show and you know Sarah should not have listened to Gretchen. But then again, Sarah should have known she was not putting in the effort on the dress. Sorry to see her go.

They're so looking for the full styled look this season. As a stylist by training I love that.
I was sorry to see Sarah go, I really liked her aesthetic.

But keep Casanova and in the bottom 3. Simply for the oneliners out of Michael Kors. I myself would never be wearing a "transvestite flamenco dancer at a funeral" look.

I thought that too. Ivy was also having trouble getting finished and no one seemed to be rushing to help her. Maybe it was just because she was a lot closer to being done - if the 2 hadn't stepped up to help Andy he probably would have went home - he had like 1/2 of the dress to go.

And Ivy kept saying she was shaking while she was making the dress. I wonder if that had something to do with her fainting - low blood sugar or something. I hope she gets to come back - it sucks to get a great opportunity and then have to leave because of medical problems.

I heard Heidi in an interview say that the ambulances were called like 3 times for this season. Crazy.

Spealing of which - anybody know what ever became of Jack?

Jack Mackenroth? In the designer's reunion he was in the hospital for like a month but is okay now. He felt his health was the most important and though he hates it stood in the way of his dream he doesn't regret it because it turned out he was really sick. But he is all hunky dory now :goodvibes

I know. I wonder what the rules are and if the judges ever know what goes on in the workroom. I remember one challenge a designer complained about how a team member performed and the judges basically told her to suck it up and stop whining. In their world it was part of the deal. Anyway, I would love to know what they designers are allowed to do for each other. i have seen them share material adn I could not understand how that was okay either. :confused3

Yep, I saw that to. I am trying to remember who it was.

Alliances among designers are something that is part of the game, I think. And you are right, they are probably helping each other out more than what we see on the show.

Same with "Top Chef". They had a similiar incident this week and it was brought up, basically a bit of yelling to the judges crying foul.
A chef basically "prepared" food and did not cook anything.

During the judges discussion they basically said that the object is to do the challenge. They were playing as a team.

Definitely fine with Andy winning-- as long as the designers who helped him didn't mind that he won, I don't really mind. Loved the dress-- yes, it was made from a fabric (ribbon), but what he did with it was beautiful.
Didn't really think Gretchen's was that amazing-- I really liked her in the first two episodes, but I do feel like it's going to her head (or at least, that's what the editing is showing). I didn't like how she said "I think ___ (can't remember too) is going to be in the top with me."

Interesting that the other designers all thought Christopher had the winning design, yet none of the judges liked it.

Ivy's a little snot, maybe too sure of her 'talent'.

Gretchen and Ivy are so full of themselves and need to be taken down a notch. Their comments last night were so smug.

I hated those hats last night. I mean does anyone really wear those hats in everyday life. They are only for the royal and the celebrity and they were so awful. Just my opinion. That was a tough challenge.

I still can't decide if I like Casanova or not. His dress was so JC Penney to me.

Peaches just doesn't seem to have it for the challenges. Her stuff just looks old and boring to me.

OMG.....that was very interesting. Weirdo hats.

Now granted I did not like the winning dress however I have to agree with the judges that it complimented the "hat" the best.

Most of the designers are smug and full of themselves.;)

I thought all of them sucked on this challenge to be honest. They need to take the chip off.

Tim Gunn comes in there and most roll their eyes at his suggestions. If April would have change the bottom, she would have done so much better.

I mean please, keeping Casanova is a joke.

ITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not like any of the outfits...............and I would not have worn any of those hats.

I liked his look. I thought it was more equestrian (sp?)/old aristocracy than anything.

I so didn't get his dress... the color scheme was not complimentary at all... a bloodred sparkly hat and an orangy-brown sparkly dress?? I think the judges need to have their color vision abilities tested!

I mean please, keeping Casanova is a joke.

ITA!!! I can't believe they kept him over Sarah!

Gretchen is going to have a major failure one of these challenges and have the wind knocked out of her sails. I can't wait for her to throw out a "student" design. popcorn::

Ivy's good, but not as good as she thinks she is!

Peaches just doesn't seem to have it for the challenges. Her stuff just looks old and boring to me.
She'll coast for awhile. Her stuff isn't great, but it isn't as awful as some of the other looks like season! I say she'll make it top 7 at the most.

My favourite was Andy's i lovee it. Im sick of Gretchen her hair in the interviews with the bright lips is ick. She thinks she is always dead on but her calls were way off she though Michael C was in the bottom and he won, i think winning went to her head.

Next week looks pretty good. Did anyone think April's shorts looked like she sewed on some Bounty the quicker picker upper to it?

Tonight was a shocker!
The last minute , 2nd dress of a designer-WON!:scared1:

This has happened a couple of times, even in the finales - the judges liked the "surprise 13th look" the best.

I couldn't believe his dress won, though - unless it looked really different in person, it looked like a toga dress I had in college!

My h, who never watches it but just sat down with me, look up when Ivy said, "I just have to get over myself" and muttered, "Yeah, you all do." :rotfl:Couldn't agree with him more!

One interesting note - the judges didn't have any issues with anyone's construction abilities!
