Project Runway - Season 3 Official Thread (SPOILERS!!!)

Thanks for the links! Judging by the links that Cindy B posted, I think I can figure out who is the decoy. One designer had a certain type of clothing missing from their presentation that the other 3 did have.

And can someone stop Laura before she feathers again? :rotfl:

I think you figured it out quickly

One designers line was a bit hoochie, one very put together which I was suprised with and one that didn't really wow me.

I actually like the Tshirt... but not pink... The black Tshirt is smoking!

Spoiler-ish! Don't read if you don't want some collection descriptions!

I really like Jeffrey and Laura's Fashion Week collections. Jeffrey's look is very now. Some of his dresses were a bit on the unflattering side, though. Laura's collection was lovely, but it was nothing new. I think the riskest thing she did was the asymmetrical shoulder pouf...and that's not saying much!

Uli's collection reminds me of the Versace dress that Jennifer Lopez wore to the 2002 Grammys... that one cut down to there...Here it is if you don't know what I mean. (Warning! Might not be very work or small child friendly.) I really didn't like her collection. It seemed a bit... old and already done to me. Structure is in right now-- everything was too flowy.

Michael's collection was a bit too skanky for my taste. Not very high fashion/couture, but very hip-hop and very, very young looking. A few pieces (like that gold thing) were not very flattering. Even if he doesn't win, I think he will do very well.

Overall, I think this was a great final four. I can't wait to see who wins!

Does anybody know if there will be a new winter season of PR?

I was waiting for others comments.

Lauras' collection: very blase, and well dark for the line (its supposed to be spring). I wasn't fond of it, and it didn't really seem daring.

Michael collection was the one I was referring to when I said "hoochie". Yes, urban/hip, but honestly, too much in your face cleavage. Not my style either, but it could be exactly what the judges were looking for. His bathing suits were extremely revealing. The entire collection didn't really seem retail ready if that makes sense. The judges may LOVE it or hate it.

Uli's-- well, some pieces were absoluetely beautiful. She did get out of print for a bit with the gold pieces. Some of the gold peices were gorgeous, but then she went and designed the blue peacock dress. I could tell she was really trying to reel the "crazy print hot weather dress" look in. Her collection was interesting and some elements --the shorts outfit for example was very interesting. I think she grew a lot in this competition--if there was a most improved look award, she would get it! If I had the body, I'd wear her bikini.. I liked her's the best!

Jeffrey-- I was actually suprised with Jeffrey's. It wasn't like last weeks skanky fest and you could tell he was trying to get away from what Michael Kors was saying the "Gwen Stefani" look. His designs were very now, but not as skanky as Michaels. I did like Jeffreys but I'm afraid the judges may not think its edgy enough.

If I was a better, I would say
Uli
Jeffrey
Michael as final three

Most likely Jeffrey the winner overall.

After looking at the final four's pictures of the runway show, I think the final three are Michael, Jeffrey and Uli. It looked like many of Laura's outfits used in her runway show were from the challenges. I recognize the black lace cocktail dress and a few others.

And what is with all the dot prints in Jeffrey's line?

Yes, repeats. I saw a commercial that said new show in two weeks.

Where are you seeing the stuff from fashion week? I watched last night and it was a repeat.

Look at my posts:

I typed in links (in white if people don't want spoilers) of the actual pics from the Olympus fashion week show.

From those links, you can make your own conclusions/ideas.

If you look at the designers and compare them to the final 4 from last season, you have Uli who is like Kara. You have Laura who is Chloe (safe); Jeffrey who is Santino (extreme); and Michael who is Daniel V (very talented.)

I'd guess that the foreigner is not going to be picked as the "next great American designer."

Watching the rerun of last season's finale last night, I started wondering if Michael Kors will want to snag Michael for his staff and not let him win. His reason for not allowing Daniel V to win was because he was "too young" with "a lot to learn." They couldn't possibly have picked Santino last season. His designs in the finale were beautiful, but poorly constructed. He seems to be the visionary as long as someone else is the seamstress. How could the select Jeffrey with his wild designs? Could he really be saddled in to working for INC? So, then there is Laura.... safe. While I hated Chloe's finale, she was a businesswoman. Laura seems to also be able to manage herself and others. She also seems capable of designing for INC.... assuming that she'd accept the position.

So, I'm hoping for Michael, but thinking that Laura will win for the reasons I've stated.

I agree with a lot of your comments. However, I think Michael has a few advantage over Daniel. First, Michael is a bit older (isn't he in his mid-20s?) vs. Daniel who was 23 and fresh out of a design school. Second, I think whoever wins this season will get a collection sold through Macy's or other retailers owned by Federated. A mentorship with INC, a private label owned by Macy's, will actually result in something. I never could understand how a mentorship with Banana Republic could be of much help.

So I think Michael will win. I think he has what the sponsors are looking for ( a young talented designer who can bring in good PR to their rather tired brand) and what the producers want (a winner who can deliever).

I used to laugh and ask my DH just how many ways they'd be expected to design khaki pants and skirts. :rotfl:

Interesting that you say that.. not to long ago I saw an interview with Tim Gunn from the Chicago Tribune about last season's finalists, where he said:
“The runway deliberation went on for two hours. I was sitting with the legal department [of Bravo], and we were whispering, going `It’s Daniel [Vosovic], it’s Santino [Rice], it’s Daniel, it’s Santino.’ About an hour and 40 minutes into this, [judge] Nina [Garcia] goes into this rhapsodic soliloquy about Chloe and her collection. … It was going to Daniel, and [Nina] turned everybody around to Chloe. It was the most remarkable thing I’ve ever seen.”

The whole interview is here: http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2006/07/talking_with_ti.html

I'm not too crazy about any of the collections, but I think I have definitely narrowed down the final 3!.. they should really have a surprise ending for this season and Daniel V. should be the winner :thumbsup2 I'm *still* a Dan Fan

I'm right there with you neighbor!!! :thumbsup2 Yesterday I watched the reruns of last season again. I had forgotten how much I liked Daniel's designs.

Well, the DID have Daniel on a lot this season driving around in his Kia, gaining inspiration around NYC. Hmm, I'd like the ending that you suggested.

Just bumping for tonight. :cheer2: :cheer2:

I wish the Terri Irwin interview was on at 9 instead of at the same time as PR.

Only good thing is you know that Bravo will air the crap out of the finale. So, I am sure you can watch it in repeats if you want to catch Barbra Walters tonight.
