Products you've loved and lost

Two things I miss now that I have a new baby that I had with my prior two...

The purple "knocks baby out like a light" Baby Magic bath wash..I can find it in a TINY bottle but ONLY if I buy the huge gift bag at BRU with stuff I don't want in it lol..

Garbage bag Luvs..you remember when Luv diapers had that garbage bag feel and not that cloth stuff they are made from now days...I swear we NEVER had a leaky diaper or blow-out with those..the new ones have leaked twice now. Once on Peanut's car seat which was a pain to clean and once on my bed..went right through to the mattress...thanks Luvs for the guarantee and free diaper replacement..but that doesn't get the pee smell out of my mattress now does it *sigh*...

Fyi for those who posted about missing products with these brand names:

Pond's
Dove
Thermasilk
Ragu
Wisk

Unilever manufactures these brands, and they are a little too quick IMO to discontinue products that don't meet their sales goals. I say this as a former employee of its Research and Development division. Their sales goals are set pretty high so many of their new products don't last.

My daughter misses Chocolate Pillsbury Toaster Struedel - she ate it for breakfast almost everyday for 2 years then they discontinued it!!

Same here!:thumbsup2

I miss the Lipton Dry soup, Beefy Mushroom. Now everything has onions in them and just are not as good.

I also miss the caramel Ho-Hos. Those things were so good...

Bacon crackers. We had them every year while we were growing up on Christmas Eve with bacon & horseradish dip and it wasn't Christmas if you didn't have it. They discontinued the crackers a few years ago and Christmas Eve hasn't been the same since

They kept the Chickin-n-Biscuit and Vegetable crackers but got rid of the bacon ones. How dumb is that????

ITA on the Beefy Mushroom! That, and the Herb and Garlic, were the only ones I ever used, and I had several recipes that used each one. Now, as you say, the only ones left all have onion in them, and we don't do onion ever. Blah.

Real Benadryl. It was the ONLY thing that worked on me.

I just remembered 2 other things-
1. Turpenhydrate cough syrup. It tasted horrible when I was a little kid (although I've since found a liquor that tastes like it, orange flavor)
2. Gummy honey cough drops. I don't remember who made them-Smiths or Hills Brothers, I think.

I loved that stuff! Actually what I loved was called "Twisted Peppermint" and it was sold at Christmas time. I used to stock up in the after holiday sales!!! Last year is the first year I've seen them not release it.

Like another poster said, they did have it last year. It was in a different format though. Last year instead of regular body wash they switched it to a "3 in 1" and it was in with a different set of scents than the ones from the year before. The year before last year was vanilla bean noel & winter candy apple I believe, this past year it was in with Nutcracker Sweet, a licorice one and some other flavor, some kind of gingerbread I think.

Fudgetown cookies (Mother's used to make something close, but I heard they don't make them anymore).

Wispa candy bars (I think that they were made by Cadbury) I know that you can buy them in Epcot at the Twinings Tea shop.

Avon Dew Kiss moisturizer.

Sara Lee Raspberry Danish (frozen).

Marathon candy bar (they were a foot long, came in a red wrapper with a ruler on the back and was just caramel covered in chocolate).

Russel Stover chocolate cream egg (Dad used to buy me for Easter every year). They had like a 3 musketeer chocolate filling. Yummy.

Cookie Crisp vanilla cereal

Fudgies

Nabisco Mystic Mints

Products I've loved and lost:

The original Downy fabric softener. It's the only brand that didn't mess with my allergies. Not Advanced, not any floral or fresh breeze scent. The original! I probably tolerated it since I was raised on it. Now I'm stuck with scent free Downy. I really miss that "April Fresh" scent.

The original Pantene ProV formula. The later editions don't feel the same and certainly don't smell the same. Aaargh!

I did lose these--but Mother's brought them back--Flaky Flix. Awesome cookies! So many people contacted them about that discontinued product that Mother's starting making them again. Hooray!

Silk soymilk with fiber - it had 5 grams per cup instead of the 1 I get with the regular. I wish I could still get it in my area:confused:

Have you tried Walgreens? Walmart doesn't seem to carry them any more but we got some at walgreens last week.
Edit: D'oh. They aren't on vicks' website anymore so they must be discontinued.

You'd never find them on the Vicks website, because Vicks missed the boat on these and started pushing their weak imitation product about a year late. I found this out the hard way when I was asking for Vick's Shower Soothers at both Target and Wal-Mart when they first were on the market. Neither store could find them under Vick's. The W-M pharmacy folks pointed me toward the Sudacare Shower Soothers and I was hooked. I tried the Vick's product about a year later and was sorely disappointed.

Shower Soothers were produced by SudaCare which was a division of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. Sadly, Pfizer has since changed their focus to prescription meds only. I can no longer locate their Consumer Healthcare division on their website.

Luckily, I have a decent stash of Shower Soothers stockpiled. Both original scent and the lavender. The later is a great aromatherapy solution for the shower. Aaaaaah.

For the makeup, make sure you check out ebay. I found my favorite discontinued lippy on there, and bought 6 tubes for a great price. I'm set for quite a while, and have extra to stash in my desk at work and in my briefcase.

Rice Krispie Treats cereal...that was soo good. I haven't seen it in forever and I don't see it on the website so it must be gone. :(

I bought DD19 three boxes a couple months ago after seeing it at Meijer. She shared one box with her roommate, but hid the other two.

Campbell's Noodles & Ground Beef soup

The one product that will forever make me long for it, though, has to be Planters Cheez Balls; they had this perfect texture that I've never been able to find in any other brand.

Yankee Candle Green Grass scent. My favorite scent ever. :cloud9:
They discontinued it, I haven't been able to find anything close and wasted money trying.

Glade Glass Scents. They looked like a small glass block like you use in windows, but had a scent in the middle. I loved them, but now can't find them anywhere.

I used to buy these white terry socks at Kohls. I loved them. Comfy and the right height, they no longer carry them and I can't find anything similiar.

Avon waterproof eyeliner. They still carry a waterproof eyeliner, but it isn't the same as I used to use and doesn't stay on anywhere near as well as the original.

I can't remember what they were called, but Peppridge Farm used to make these pastry pocket things that you bought frozen, they were all flaky pastry on the outside and had chocolate in the middle that got all melty when you put them in the oven. Soooooooooooooooooooooo good.

Quality Disney adult clothing.

Butterscotch Jell-O Pudding Pops
Lipton Garlic Mushroom Soup Mix
Coca-cola made with sugar and not HFC, although I sometimes splurge on some Mexi-Coke at Sam's and kosher Coke before Passover.

Wispa candy bars (I think that they were made by Cadbury) I know that you can buy them in Epcot at the Twinings Tea shop.

Marathon candy bar (they were a foot long, came in a red wrapper with a ruler on the back and was just caramel covered in chocolate).

These are available at World Market if you have one in your area. Marathon bars are called "Curly Wurly" by Cadbury.

I don't have a World Market near me. Is there one near Disney? I will be going there in September (hopefully).
